      Milford Sounds

      Am morgen am haubi Sächsi isch hüt Tagwach. Ohni ZMorge fahre mir die letschte km zum achte Wäutwunger Milford Sound.

      Hie heimer ufem Parkplatz de Zyt für ds zMörgele-bevors uf die 2 Stündigi Schifffahrt dür d Fjorde geit.

      Wunderschön u idrücklech, die steile Felswäng.
      Trotz sunnigem Wätter wärde d Froue de no plotschnass. Der Kapitän stüret zmitts ungerne Wasserfau. Mir Rägejagge.

      Widr es riise Wätterglück, hie rägnets 220 im Johr. Isch aber nötig für die Rägewälder hie.

      Mir gönne üs no es Kafi bevor mir de widr der glich Wäg zrüggfahre.
      Es paar Fotostops und die erschti Begägnig mitemne fräche KEA mache mir de.

      3 days at sea, 3 time changes

      It's been a relaxing 3 days at sea, though there was a fair amount of "motion of the ocean" happening.
      Day 1 at sea, we went through the fiorlands of New Zealand. We first saw Dusky Sound, which I viewed from inside the ship as I caught up on my written journal. It was quite a scene out the windows. The second sound (pictured) was Milford Sound. I went onto the bow of the ship and experienced moving into the Sound. It was majestic. I don't recall the history behind either of them, but feel free to Google if you'd like to know more.
      Inbetween the sounds, I did a scavenger hunt and colored and of course talked to everyone along the way.
      Day 2 was lazy. We had our first of three time changes as we were still in the same time zone as New Zealand, who did fall back (they're entering fall/winter). I lay in bed essentially until 11:30 because I didn't want the motion of the ocean to get me. I was truly fine and enjoyed the afternoon and evening.
      Day 3, the motion of the ocean was smooth sailing. We talked to two different couples at breakfast and at dinner for a couple hours. The afternoon was sitting on the balcony, enjoying the sunshine, and reading a book. 😀
      Today, we are arriving in Hobart, Tasmania (AUS). That's the sunrise picture. I'm super glad to be getting off the ship and on land today. We also had our last time change this morning. If you thought fall break or spring forward is annoying, try fall back three days in a row 😳 I was and ready to go to the gym yesterday at 4:35. Today, I was up at 3 🤦‍♀️
      I'm headed off to an excursion in Tasmania to see Wildlife and Waterways.      Baca lagi

      Milford Sound journey

      We were the first people to be picked up at 6am which gave us great 2nd row seats on the bus. Milford Sound is a four hour drive each way and we had a specialist bus driver for the route who is trained to drive the narrow, windy roads with a minor risk avalanches (the risk used to be much higher before electronic monitoring). The driver stopped at some key view points on the route, some of which were also in Lord of the Rings. As you get closer, the mountainsides become full of waterfalls.Baca lagi

      Milford Sound

      Der spektakuläre Milford Sound auch bei Starkregen spektakulär. Hier fallen bis zu 250 Tage Regen im Jahr und es fallen 6-7 Liter ! pro Quadratmeter. Wir waren schwer beeindruktvon den bis zu 1700m hohen Bergen auch wenn sie wolkenverhangen waren. 1000 de von Wasserfälle Speisen den Milford Sound.Baca lagi

      Fjordland

      Einfach nur unglaublich hier!

      Wir haben auch wieder Robben gesehen und auch Delfine (keine Fotos-unspannend).

      Der Wind kann an manchen Stellen hier teilweise bis zu 280km/h erreichen! Bei uns gott sei Dank nicht! :D

      Das Erste Bild: ganz Unten in der Mitte... Der kleine Weiße Punkt ist ein normales Boot also 18m Lang mit 3 Etagen...nur mal zum Vergleich....      Baca lagi

      Milford Sound

      Auch heute ging es wieder früh raus weil um 8:20Uhr unser Bus nach Milford Sound losfuhr. Da wir die ersten waren, die eingestiegen sind, könnten wir uns endlich einmal einen Platz ganz vorne ergattern. Problem war nur, dass wir jetzt sehen konnten, dass der Busfahrer ständig etwas sucht und seine Hände kaum am Steuer hatte ;D

      Der Weg nach Milford Sound dauerte relativ lang was daran lag, dass wir einige Foto- und natürlich die nervenden Foodpausen gemacht haben. Die Landschaft im Süden ist unglaublich grün und wunderschön. Egal ob See, Gletscher oder Bäume. Man fährt stundenlang durch eine grüne Landschaft ohne Häuser oder Zivilisation. Neuseeland ist wirklich unberührte Natur was man vor allem in Milford sehen kann.

      Mit Juicy-Cruices erkundeten wir 1,5h Die Fjordlandschaft und ich bin einfach nur sprachlos gewesen. Die Natur hier ist überwältigend und nicht in Worte zu fassen. Leider ist es wirklich nicht möglich die Schönheit als Foto einzufangen.
      Einfach WOW!!!!
      Zuerst die riesigen Wasserfälle, dann das türkisfarbenen Wasser und die Berge und anschließend am Ende die "Tasman Sea".
      Auch wenn es echt kalt war, war es ein unglaubliches Erlebnis!

      Anschließend ging es wieder rein einen gratis Tee trinken bis die Bootstour beendet war und es wieder mit dem Kiwi Bus nach Queenstown ging. Unser Busfahrer war echt cool und so konnten wir auf dem Weg zurück "Bücket List" anschauen. Carla und ich hatten die Front Row *.*      Baca lagi

      Milford Sound

      Milford Sound is gorgeous - except for Oslo Fjord I have not been to the Norwegian fjords yet, and I like the Icelandic westfjords -, but Milford definitely is a highlight. Did you know, that the name Milford SOUND is actually incorrect. Paulie had explained to us that a sound was originally created by a river and then flooded by seawater, whereas a fjord was created by a glacier. Well, Milford was created by a glacier or according to Maori belief by a demi-good who carved all the fjords in Fjordland National Park with Milford being the last, the most northern and his masterpiece. The reason that the New Zealand fjords are called sounds is, that in the English language there did not exist a word for "fjord" when the names were given. Only, in the middle of the twentieth century the word "fjord" was transferred from Norwegian into English and that's why the National Park is called FJORDland. The rain had stopped by the time the cruise started. There were still some "mystic" clouds, but also blue sky could be seen in between. Due to the rainfalls in the night and morning there were many temporary waterfalls that only come into existence after rainfalls. The waterfalls gave an additional beauty to the landscape. At the edge to the Tasman Sea the ship turned around back into the fjord. At one rock we could see some furseals and twice the captain steered the vessel directly into a waterfall. I enjoyed the cruise very much. Well, after 90 minutes the cruise was over and we had to drive the five hours back to Queenie. When we came back to the harbor, still no keas had appeared. That made me a little sad, but I was hoping for more one more chance to see them at Mount Cook. On the way back, Paulie did not talk as much as on the way to Milford. Most of the time, I was just looking out of the window. For the last two hours, Paulie had put a movie with Anthony Hopkins about the New Zealand motorcycle race driver Burt Munro on the screen which was pretty good. I tried following the film as well as looking out of the window😂Back in Queenstown on the way to the hostel, I went for a beer and some fries into a bar. Anyway, I was pretty tired and did not stay very long.Baca lagi

      Zwischen den Klippen

      Im Ort Milford Sound angekommen, mussten wir uns erst mal orientieren. Anscheinend muss man hier Parkgebühren zahlen und das nicht zu knapp. 10NZ$ pro Stunde (c.a. 6€). Wir sehen das einfach mal als Nationalpark-Eintrittsgebühren. Und irgendwie ist es ja auch richtig den Individualverkehr etwas zu "bestrafen". Zumal der Service hier ja auch immer super ist. Sei es die Beratung, die Infotafeln, die Trails oder zahlreichen sauberen Toiletten.

      Nur leider war schon mal ein Bezahlautomat kaputt, sodass sich am nächsten bereits eine lange Schlange bildete. Dann war das Schiffsterminal auch noch ein kurzer Fußweg entfernt, jetzt hieß es aber wirklich schnell, um den Check In zu schaffen.

      Das war dann auch kein Problem und wir hatten auch noch Zeit uns vor Abfahrt den kleinen Hafen mit geschlagenen 12 Anlegestelle anzuschauen.

      Dann konnte es auch losgehen. Unser Schiff war gefühlt das größte und wir hatten auch mindestens zwei Busse Asiaten an Bord.
      Das tat dem Fahrerlebnis allerdings keinen Abbruch. Zumal die meisten ein Mittagsbuffet gebucht haben und diese wurden dann auch gleich an die Buffetschlange ins unterste Deck gelotst. Mehr Platz für uns auf dem Aussichtsdeck. Ein Bisschen erinnerte das ganze auch wie eine koreanische Hochzeit (frei nach Gilmore Girls).

      Die meiste Zeit ließen wir uns also draußen den Wind um die Ohren sausen und die Sonne auf den Kopf strahlen. Und der war auf der Fahrt Richtung Meer noch viel heftiger als zurück.
      Das fantastischste waren natürlich die unglaublich hohen und steilen Berge, die nur wenige Meter neben uns aus dem Wasser ragten. Zwischendurch fuhren wir an zwei ziemlich beeindruckenden Wasserfällen vorbei, den Bowen Falls und den Stirling. Von letzterem soll Hugh Jackman in Wolverine wohl nackt "runter gesprungen" sein.

      Außerdem haben wir noch ein paar Seebären auf einem Felsen faulenzen sehen.
      Mit einem kurzen Blick auf die tasmanischen See drehte das Schiff nach einer knappen dreiviertel Stunde schon wieder um. Aber wir hatten ja noch weitere Ziele...      Baca lagi

      Milford Sound - cruise

      Tak jsem nakonec zvolila 3hodinovou Discover More Cruise od Southern Discoveries a lepsi den pro plavbu po Milford Soundu jsem si vybrat nemohla. Oproti predpovedi (a nebylo by se cemu divit, prsi tu pry pres 200 dni v roce) bylo nadherne slunecno, teplo a vetrik jen mirny. Milford Sound (ktery je ve skutecnosti technicky fjordem) Evropani objevili az v roce 1809 (z Tasmanskeho more neni v podstate vubec videt), v roce 1980 ziskal prvniho obyvatele v Donaldu Sutherlandovi a zahy se stal atrakci, kterou dnes navstivi pul milionu turistu rocne.
      Pluli jsme kolem majestatniho Mitre Peaku, ktery se zveda do vysky 1600 m a je tak jednou z nejvyssich hor vystupujicich primo z more (prumerne pry trva vystup na vrchol asi 16 hodin, ale jsou tu borci, co tam "vybehli" za 8, naboso ;-)). Mijeli jsme vecne vodopady, ktere zivi voda z ledovcu. Videli jsme "tree avalanches", laviny stromu, ktere se uz na neuveritelne prudkych svazich neudrzely. Pozorovali jsme lachtany vyhrivajici se na slunci (tucnaky - 2. nejvzacnejsi na svete - jsme bohuzel nezahlidli a ani delfini se dnes neukazali, skoda :-/) a v podvodni observatori sestoupili 10 metru pod vodni hladinu a kochali se morskym zivotem, co za normalnich okolnosti zije v mnohem vetsich hloubkach. Diky tzv. dark water emergency jsme tak videli treba cerne koraly, kteri jsou ve skutecnosti snehove bili ;-). Cerna je jejich kostra. A jsou samozrejme chraneni - za utrhnuti je pokuta 10 000$. Uuuups...
      Pozn. V cene velmi rozumnych 99$ byl i obed. Kure! Maso po 14 dnech "vegetareni"! Mnaaaam :-).      Baca lagi
