    Black tie night

    September 4, 2017 in Norway

A full day at sea in which we were quite sporty in the morning playing Shuffleboard and Quoits on deck before going to the golf net to try and chip golf balls into a net.
In the afternoon, Allison attended a talk on acupuncture and one on reading your footprint whilst I explored the 11 decks of the Arcadia then had a little snooze to catch-up on the lack of sleep from last night!
We then got dressed-up for the Captain's dinner before going to the theatre to watch a musical montage from British films.Read more

    On board observations..

    September 5, 2017 in Norway

I have made two unexpected observations on this first cruise. Firstly that, without exception so far, I have always spotted a Ladies toilet before the Men's!
Secondly is a cruising 'sock dilemma'! Socks are needed for daytime wanderings, but what to do about the sock mark when wearing a dress for dinner.... 'First world problem' as they say...
Just having our first sighting of land since leaving Southampton. Can now stop singing 'We are sailing'...Read more

    October 4, 2017 in Norway

    Massive cruise ship

    June 11, 2016 in Norway

2 MASSIVE cruise ships dominated the harbour in Stavanger.
The first at least 13 floors high. A moving skyscraper. Probably more people on it than lived in Stavanger. With all the boat tourism in Norway, this becames a common sight.

    Highly impressive.

The second sounded it's horn when leaving. The sound knocked every other thought out of my head. Be prepared to change underwear if standing too close.Read more

    Stavanger Old town

    June 11, 2016 in Norway

Cute area of town which had small white houses along cobbled streets.
Old it may be, but still beautifully kept, with a charm that makes you want to soak up.

We even found a house with steps leading nowhere.. and a lazy cat who was happily purring away unfussed by human attention.
