      Weihnachten😘

      Gut ausgeschlafen gingen wir das inklusive Frühstück geniessen. Es war hervorragend.😍 Ich vergnügte mich mit einer coolen Orangenpresse 10 Minuten lang und hatte einen riesen Spass.😊
      Wir fühlten uns überhaupt nicht in Weihnachtsstimmung, vor allem weil es es 30 Grad warm war und die Luftfeuchtigkeit über 65% betrug.🫠
      Kein Problem in den kommenden Jahren tendiere ich an Weihnachten im schönen Schnee der Schweiz zu sein.😉

      Da wir die Hauptattraktionen am Abend zuvor schon besichtigt haben, nahmen wir den weiten Weg auf uns, um den Zoo unsicher zu machen.🐼🦚🐅🐊🐢🐍🐟🐒
      Das Öffentliche Verkehrsmittel war ähnlich der Schweiz.

      Angekommen im Zoo hat es aus allen Kübeln geregnet. Wir gingen somit direkt einen Regenponcho kaufen.

      Es war wundervoll gemacht für die Tiere, wie wir es nie zuvor gesehen haben. Einige Tiere konnten frei umhergehen. Im Fluss sahen wir einen Leguan schwimmen, der ein riesiges Territorium scheint zu haben, wobei sich sicherlich auch noch andere Tiere in diesem Gebiet aufhalten. Auch die Affen konnten ihren Auslauf grosszügig nutzen.🙏

      Nach dem Zoo- und der Unterwasserwelt wollten wir auf direktem Weg ein Satayspiess aufsuchen.
      Vergebens war die Suche nicht. Dennoch führte uns das Navi 20 Minuten an der Nase herum.🙈

      Beim Durchlaufen aller Essensstände hatten wir ein Auge auf die Krustentiere. Es war für uns das erste Mal, dass wir einen Krebs gegessen haben.🦀 Er war sooooo lecker 😍😍😍 und die Sauce war ziemlich scharf.
      Neben an war die Sataystreet mit 17 gleichen Essensstände.
      Die Auswahl dementsprechend nicht einfach.😉🙈
      Für mich war die Erdnusssauce zu süss aber das Fleisch war lecker. Die Kokosnuss war der Abschlussdrink an Weihnachten. Es war einfach toll wieder Zeit zusammen zu verbringen.🙏😍😊

      Schliesslich mit dem Bus nach Hause fahren, um fit für den anderen Tag zu sein. Für mich leichter als für Tirza, denn ihr Zeitunterschied zur Schweiz betrug 7 Stunden.
      Am anderen Tag war die Automiete und 7 Stunden Autofahrt von Johor Bahru nach Kuala Tahan zum Nationalpark (Malaysia) vorgesehen.🤔

      See ya Singapore

      We had a fantastic last couple of nights in Singapore eating way more than we needed to 😅 but loving every minute.

      Yesterday we got to go to one of my favorite Singapore places - the zoo! We saw all the highlights, including visiting the giraffes multiple times and seeing many animals that reminded us of our pup - so many big ears and big tails to be seen!

      Last night we enjoyed a very tasty dinner at Labyrinth (the first Singaporean food focused restaurant to get a Michelin Star). We in true Sadovyi fashion, ate way too much (with of course the wine pairings) and even after a nights rest we were struggling this morning at the airport. Neither of us were hungry but that didn't stop us from sneaking in one last snack at the airport. Some dumplings :)

      We're en route now to Hanoi, Vietnam for our last leg of our trip. We'll be in the city for one night before going to Ha Long Bay for an overnight excursion, then back to Hanoi proper for a few more nights!      Læs mere

      Empezamos el día desayunando en la habitación del hotel, conseguimos racionar bien la yerba y nos queda mate para hoy y mañana.

      Salimos desde el hotel y emprendimos el viaje hasta el zoológico de Singapur. Es uno de los zoológicos más famosos o el más famoso del mundo. Si bien estamos bastante en contra de todo lo que representa un zoológico, leímos que es considerado una gran reserva/ santuario y conservación de especies así que decidimos visitarlo.

      Tomamos un colectivo y luego otro, funciona mil veces mejor el transporte en este país que en los anteriores, y todo tiene aire acondicionado! Al llega al zoológico descubrimos que solo se podían comprar los tickets online. Tras un par de batallas con las tarjetas de crédito argentinas ingresamos el lugar. Están creando un area “natural” en este sector de la ciudad dado que aquí se encuentra el zoológico, el parque de aves (nuevo, lo abrieron en junio 2023), un parque marino y la posibilidad de hacer un safari nocturno. Las entradas son muy costosas así que optamos solamente por el zoológico.

      Es un espacio estilo Disney muy organizado para visitar con niños. A nuestro gusto, faltan cuidadores en los espacios porque los visitantes hacen demasiado ruido para estar tan cerca de los animales y golpean los vidrios. Esta situación nos angustió bastante, en especial al visitar los orangutanes. Hace menos de una semana los vimos libres, volando entre los árboles, y acá sus caras revelaban resignación o tristeza.

      El sector de los anfibios y reptiles sí estuvo mucho más interesante. Vimos especies que desconocíamos por completo, incluyendo ranitas de colores estridentes, las venenosas; también varios bichos palo e insectos no muy atractivos. Vimos un dragón de Komodo y confirmamos que no nos arrepentimos de haber sacado a Komodo del plan de viaje. También verificamos que no nos gustan los zoológicos porque, no importa cómo lo vendan, siguen siendo animales encerrados en un ambiente depresivo lleno de niños que buscan interactuar con ellos como si fueran tocando una tablet (pero golpeando los vidrios y gritándole al pobre ser que lamenta su existencia del otro lado del mismo).

      Luego de un almuerzo muy picante en el zoológico y de ver variedad de monitos, arrancamos la vuelta al hotel, con objetivo de ir a ver el show de luces nocturno al Marina Bay Garden (MBG), ducha mediante (la calor este país…). Atinadamente, el subte llega al parque mismo por lo que, multitud mediante, llegamos bastante rápido al Supertree Grove.

      La rapsodia del jardín (humo de nombre) es un show de luces y música donde lo especial es el lugar, con sus esqueletos de árboles gigantes a modo de jardines verticales de hasta 60m, al son de la selección musical del día. Redundante, el show fue con música de musicales de broadway. Acá marida se canto todo mientras una multitud de gente estaba tirada por todos lados filmando y sacando fotos. Es muy bello, pero no tanto imperdible como lo había leído.
      Con más fortuna que otra cosa, nos encontramos un show de pirotecnia del otro lado del hotel MBS así que lo apreciamos al cobijo del aire acondicionado. Luego subimos al sky bar de una de las torres, Cé La Vi a disfrutar una panorámica nocturna y una copa para despedirnos de esta ciudad que nos fascinó.

      Cenamos en lo que encontramos abierto en ese horario en el shopping Marina Bay y regresamos cerca de medianoche al hotel. Ah! El shopping tiene un canal en el piso de abajo 👀      Læs mere

      Day 44 Heading home

      We have had a few leisurely mornings but today took the cake. Our flight was at 7.30pm and we could check out late. We had bought some coconut buns (a bit odd but rather nice, cooked coconut centre in a soft white roll) and bananas. We had a bit of packing to do, lots of things that we could throw away like our plastic plates and endless receipts that we had accumulated from all over the place. We did that while watching a couple more episodes from series one of Outlander, Trisha’s Netflix has been very useful with all the smart tvs.

      We left about 12.30 and took a taxi to the airport, at this stage of our holiday taxis seem to be a much better option than public transport! The taxi had the aircon on so cool that I was pleased to get out into the heat for a few minutes.

      We were leaving from terminal 1 which had the cool water feature and huge mall. First stop was to a chocolate brownie shop for a really decadent treat. We took a couple of pics and then walked through the over bridge to terminal 2 to build up some steps but then caught the cute little train back. Then we got a bit carried away in the Turtle shop which had a number of cool things in it like the softest wee cuddly toys like those we had seen in Dubai, great variety of usb fans which could have been useful earlier and various stationery options. I had taken out $200 Singapore dollars when we arrived which we have shared. Turtle was great as we paid them with our remaining cash and the rest on our wise cards ie by phone tapping. We loooooove the phone tapping as the phones are always on us with the cards in a safe place.

      Just wandering around and then we noticed a croc shop. I had googled that in the mall we were at yesterday but hadn’t thought about one being here. Now that I have 3 pairs of crocs maybe it was time to decorate some lol. We went to several floors looking at the water feature. Then had to go back to Turtle as Caitlin had put in a request for a fox stuffed toy. Then I might have had to get one as well! Pillows on the flight you know.

      10,000 steps and 33 degrees outside. We spent less that 10 mins outside today though so that doesn’t really count. So we have a 7 hour flight to Sunday then 3 hours to Auckland. And hopefully John hasn’t disowned Trish and we will see him at the airport.

      Kurzes intermezzo in Singapur

      Heute sind wir nach ca. 24 Stunden Reise in Singapur angekommen. Hier haben wir einen Zwischenstopp für ca. 16 Stunden.

      Der Flughafen in Singapur war schon ein erstes Highlight.

      Wir haben eine Unterkunft in Chinatown und haben lecker gegessen. Das Zimmer hat ganze 12 qm. Nachts waren wir beide hellwach, der Jetlag kickt richtig rein.Læs mere

      Cried during take off - genuinely scared. Even though Will thought I was ridiculous he hugged me.
      I fly a lot so it really is so stupid of me.
      We did manage to snag the exit row yewwww.
      Got in some sleep but hardly any quality.
      Entire plane was stressed about connections but im pretty sure they all made it cause literally half of our plane was scheduled to get on their next plane together so it was worth waiting for them.
      Customs was genuinely terrible for such a big airport - everyone was Indian and needed visas so it took so long - make a desperate visa line 🙄
      Went to get Maccas but they don’t have an all day menu here 😭
      Our hotel does a free shuttle from the airport - it was hard to find but we got there - terrible signage. Seriously, airports need to pick up their game. I was super shitty.
      At least the shuttle was free and we were the only ones.
      Got dropped off. It was a 3 hour wait until check in but she did at least move it from 2pm to 12.
      Highly appreciated.
      Late check out tomorrow too woo.
      We walked around and it IS HUMID. and stupidly glarey. Have to walk with my eyes half shut.
      Found a Starbucks to pass time in and I had a caramel hot chocolate. Nothing will beat white .
      Then we went to maccas - we had been waiting for the lunch menu which starts at 11 not 10:30.
      Today’s lesson was I learnt that I don’t like angus meat patties nearly as much.

      Back to hotel and checked in. We were meant to have a 2 hour nap. 5 hours later we woke up.
      I was fucking furious that Will had switched off the alarm. It was 5pm. Felt like we really wasted the day but luckily the Gardens by the bay was also a night activity so that’s were we headed.
      Not only are taxis still used by everyone - they are reasonably priced!!
      We got one to the gardens and paid the big entry fee.
      We got access to 2 domes. I did enjoyed it but didn’t LOVE it. People like Helen (Trek Helen not Wills mum) could spend a week in there and would froth at the mouth upon entry.
      I expected more flowers - there were still heaps but I think the first dome was more plants than flowers.
      It still had cool ones I hadn’t seen before and awesome bark sculptures hidden in trees like big cats, owls, snakes and a dragon etc.
      The second dome had the bug famous waterfall.
      I liked this dome better as it had more to do. You catch a lift to the top and walk back down going though different sections such as a global warming video and crystals.

      We walked around and saw the big flower things but chose not to do the skywalk.
      We left and walked through the city towards Chinatown. Will having $5 a day for WiFi with Vodafone is very convenient. (Wasn’t an option in Nepal)
      Its a very clean city, as expected.
      The people here are 65% Asian and 35% caucasian.
      Their English sucks balls though!! Considering English is their first language?? It’s not like they hav an accent I can’t understand, it’s like they have trouble making the sounds and talk slowly.
      We walked around the water which i would like to see in daylight - a lot of people going for jogs. Though it’s dark it is stil so so hot.
      Found China town - the streets need to widen their footpaths/remove the food tables and poles. You have to walk in a zigzag around obstacles or on the roads.
      Found a resturant that had recognizable items.
      I keep having fucking coriander disasters. THE. WORST.
      Food was ok. Again, the satay chicken skewers were the highlight.
      I got some ice cream - I asked for 2 scoops and for unknown reasons the dude charged me for 2 but gave me 4 - 2 in 2 separate cups. It was hard to juggle and I dropped a big chunk of ice cream on the floor.
      Gonna get arrested - they don’t like sticky stuff in their footpaths 😅😅

      Got a taxi home - I cannot believe how many taxis there are and not only that, they are ALL occupied. It took us ages to get one!!

      Happy with our hotel, we had a bath together 🙃 wish Will fit better and we could do it more often hahah. - Will fell asleep in record speed. I was awake for hours but at least I knew I could sleep in if needed!      Læs mere

      Night Safari - Singapur Zoo

      Die Night Safari wurde 1994 direkt neben dem Singapore Zoo eröffnet und ist der erste Safaripark der Welt für nachtaktive Tiere. Sie ähnelt allerdings mehr einem Naturpark als einer echten Safari.

      Ihre Augen werden eine Weile brauchen, um sich an die Dunkelheit hier zu gewöhnen, aber wenn es soweit ist, werden Sie von über 2.500 Bewohnern aus über 130 Spezies begrüßt. Dazu zählen viele in der Region einheimische Arten, wie der gefährdete asiatische Elefant, der malaiische Tapir und der malaiische Tiger.

      Die Tiere leben in einem dichten Regenwald auf einer Fläche von 35 Hektar. Freundliche Kreaturen, wie zum Beispiel Rehe, bewegen sich frei im Park, während die wilderen Exemplare, wie Leoparden, hinter Absperrungen gehalten werden.

      Eine Besonderheit dieses Zoos ist die artgerechte und naturnahe Tierhaltung. Auf Käfige, Gitter und hässliche Abtrennungen wurde fast komplett verzichtet. Stattdessen dienen Gewässer, Bäume, Hecken oder Stein als natürliche Gehege. Dies bietet nicht nur den Tieren eine schöne Umgebung, sondern lässt auch die Besucher eine besondere Naturverbundenheit spüren.      Læs mere

      Day 13 - Our last full day 😭

      Und schon war auch unser letzter voller Urlaubstag da ☹️… das ging jetzt alles doch so schnell gegen Ende und ich weiß jetzt schon das ich Singapur sehr vermissen werde (mein Geldbeutel nicht, der vermisst eher die Preise in Malaysia)

      Heute war unser erster Stop ein Frühstückslokal namens „Nimbus“ und bei meinem Glück war es auch gleich in der Nähe von der Joo Chiat Road, auf welcher sich die Peranakan Houses befinden. Diese hatte ich schon sehr oft auf Pinterest gesehen, und wollte sie besuchen - vor allem nachdem ich gesehen habe, dass sie ganz nah an unserem Hotel waren. Leider war es heute extrem regnerisch und die Fotos sind nicht die besten geworden… auf der Straße gab es eine deutsche „Bier Bar“ die Brotzeit hieß… sehr passend für so einen Laden 😂…

      Die Häuser und die Boutiquen auf der Straße waren auf jeden Fall sehr schön und ich bin froh das wir dort waren. Ich denke, wenn man kleine Boutiquen und süße Cafés liebt, ist es auf jeden Fall eine gute Idee vorbei zu schauen. Es gab auch eine Mall in der Nähe (Katong Square) mit vielen einzigartigen Läden, die ich sonst nicht bei anderen Malls gesehen hatte. Und einen kleinen Flohmarkt haben wir nebenan auch besucht. Eine Künstlerin hat da auch Anime Sachen verkauft 😍! Trotz dem Frühstück musste ich natürlich wieder essen gehen, weil es Enten-Wraps und Dumplings gab… upps…

      Dann wollte ich kurz noch in ein paar Anime Läden in der Suntec Mall und dachte ich wäre in Japan gelandet 😱 Konnten richtig viel Auswahl im „La Tendo“ finden. Haben allerdings selber nichts gekauft.

      Ich wollte unbedingt noch ins ATLAS, eine Bar die anscheinend sehr bekannt ist, da ich die Architektur des ganzen Gebäudes wunderschön fande. Allerdings hatten wir nicht reserviert und konnten nicht bleiben. Fotos habe ich natürlich trotzdem gemacht 😈! Dann ging es noch mal zur Haji Lane, da diese letztes Mal noch keine offene Läden hatte. Diesmal war alles offen und wir konnten in die kleinen Boutiquen und auch ebenfalls einen Kaffee im Café Donkee trinken. Hatte mich ein wenig an das LeBlanc aus Persona5 erinnert und war sehr gemütlich!

      Im Anschluss bestellten wir ein Grab Taxi und sind zur Funan Mall. Diese war sehr modern und hatte viele unterschiedliche Läden, auch wieder viele einzigartige Läden im Vergleich zu den anderen Malls. Auch super für Elektronik und Fotografiefans. Es gab auch einen Razer Store und ich habe endlich eine Tastaur gefunden die mir gefällt.

      Unser letzter Stop war Clarke Quay. Hier wollten wir am Flussufer etwas essen und die Aussicht genießen. Es gab viele Bars und der Bereich ist auch für sein Nachtleben bekannt. Wir gingen ins Tomo Izakaya. Ich habe einen Sukiyaki Eintopf und Sashimi bestellt und es war so lecker 😍!

      Dann sind wir recht früh ins Hotel, da wir noch packen mussten. Es hat zum Glück alles in die Koffer gepasst und das Gewicht ist auch unter 25kg. Jetzt bin ich ein wenig aufgeregt, da wir morgen früh fliegen und ich das nicht so gerne mache 😭, aber wird sicher alles gut gehen.
