      London Zentrum - Bisschen Bummeln

      August 29, 2023 in England ⋅ ☁️ 21 °C

      London Day 4

      November 10 in England ⋅ ☁️ 11 °C

On Sunday we got the tube to Trafalgar Square. It was very cool seeing the tall statue and giant lions and there was even a Christmas market in front of the National Gallery plus a Remembrance Day service on one of the nearby streets. We continued walking around and found our way to Pall Mall which had such gorgeous architecture. We paid a visit to Hedonism Wines which is a highly acclaimed bottle shop that has one of the best cellars in the world. Iesha mentioned she was in the industry and one of the workers looked after us extremely well- taking us to underground cellars full of lots of old wine Iesha never gets to see and he even gave us a blind tasting of a 2010 Tignanello and a 1988 Chateau Ducru… it was so amazing. Some of the wines there were listed for $500,000 which amazed Eth. Of course Iesha had to buy a bottle of something and Eth ended up getting it for her as a birthday present (you can see how happy she is holding the bag in the streets).

We went to a little pub in Mayfair for a Sunday roast and much to our disappointment it wasn’t that great - both of our mums do a much better roast. From there we went to Camden Town and walked through the markets, there were sooo many stalls and this part of town definitely has a more relaxed vibe to it. We watched the sunset from Primrose Hill in the evening which is a very good view point of London City. Before going back home we stopped at Kings Cross Station and went to track 9 3/4 for the official Harry Potter store. We had so much fun browsing the film merchandise and playing with wands. It felt so magical but we can confirm we do not enjoy butter beer - it tastes like sparkling water with the sweetest glycerol syrup in it. For dinner we went to a cozy pub in Notting Hill for an authentic English pie and fish n chips (the pie was delicious).

      Living like royals

      September 4, 2019 in England ⋅ ⛅ 18 °C

We spent the morning checking out the Florence Nightingale Museum and marveling in the origins of nursing and then off to the Beefeater Gin distillery to learn about its beginnings. A quick cheeky tasting and g&t then had us refreshed and off to Hyde Park where we wandered the grounds then visited Kensington Palace. We made our way to Harrods where we had a lovely but expensive lunch in the dining hall and quickly realised we couldn't afford anything. We fundus the day off with a picnic in the hotel room where we could put our feet up and watch a movie.Read more

      Ruta por London

      December 26, 2019 in England ⋅ 🌧 8 °C

      April 10, 2023 in England ⋅ 🌧 14 °C

      Positiv: Die Sonne scheint 🌞

      Trafalgar Square and National Gallery

      April 18, 2023 in England ⋅ ☁️ 52 °F

They were doing renovations on the front of the National Gallery, unfortunately, so I couldn't get a good shot of the neat outside of the building, but I did include some shots from the surrounding area near Trafalgar. Finally got to see a DaVinci painting in person. I was a little excited about it.Read more

      London

      June 14, 2023 in England ⋅ ☀️ 28 °C

We took the Big Bus HoHo which stopped near our accommodation. Pleasant tour through London with much better functioning taped commentary than Toot Bus in Paris. Jan recalled many details about her trip to London with Andrea. We got off at Tower Pier, had lunch and boarded the boat for the cruise down the Thames to Westminster. Nancy was still recovering from cathedral overload so Jan went in and spent 90 minutes there. It seemed a very long HoHo ride back so we got off and walked back; dinner was a good ole English fish fry nearby.Read more

      Trafalgar Square & Piccadily Circus.

      July 6, 2023 in England ⋅ ☁️ 21 °C

Trafalgar Square followed by Piccadily Circus.
Bit of shopping at Lilly Whites Sports Store.

Trafalgar Square (/trəˈfælɡər/ trə-FAL-gər) is a public square in the City of Westminster, Central London, established in the early 19th century around the area formerly known as Charing Cross. The Square's name commemorates the Battle of Trafalgar, the British naval victory in the Napoleonic Wars over France and Spain that took place on 21 October 1805 off the coast of Cape Trafalgar.

Piccadilly Circus is a road junction and public space of London's West End in the City of Westminster. It was built in 1819 to connect Regent Street with Piccadilly. In this context, a circus, from the Latin word meaning "circle", is a round open space at a street junction.[1]
