    Legoland to Steamboat Springs

    December 23, 2018 in the United States ⋅ ⛅ 16 °C

Up early again, breakfast was a lot to be desired. No normal butter it was sweetened butter, the breakfast syrup was corn syrup. Thought I would have porridge, only had flavoured porridge so picked cinnamon and spice, so so sweet. Yuck. We caught an Uber to San Diego. Had a nice driver. Only took 35 mins as no traffic jams early Sunday morning. A bit intense going through security, you don't want to be in a hurry. We got here about 3hrs before our flight. Amusing seeing dogs & cat flying in the cabin not in cargo. Time went quickly at the airport, had a good flight. We were greeted by frosty air, boy it was cold. Caught a shuttle to Steamboat Springs, booked in and then needed to do some grocery shopping. The hotel's shuttle doesn't run between 2pm - 6pm. Not wanting to wait we walked to the shops, which wasn't that far and a nice walk but treacherous. I am sure I will end up on my bum and breaking wrist. Shopped at Safeway, very busy but got a few healthy supplies and will go back tomorrow for a few other things. Cannot believe the icicles that hang from the houses. A very frosty walk back and up hill. It was our exercise for the day. Nice to cook for ourselves and eat vegetables for a change. Looking forward to tomorrow to explore the town.Read more

    Down day in San Diego

    April 10, 2018 in the United States ⋅ ☀️ 29 °C

Today was a relax sat, but we were in a new city so we had to adventure out somehow.

Not to have to stress about the roof racks, we bought a roof bag from Walmart online and we were waiting for a email to advise when we can pick it up.

In the morning we played at the pool at the KOA before we headed into Seaport Village in San Diego. At the pool we met a local family who was staying at the KOA as they had an insurance claim and thought the KOA was fun for the kid.

We choose Seaport as they had a Ben and Jerry's and it was free cone day. We walked around this very touristy area, which was designed by Disney people. As we were near the bay, we thought maybe we could do some kind of boat tour\ride and Brandon really liked that idea.

The ride that was available was the Seals tour and Brandon wanted in it. It was a transformer and the vehicle went from land into the ocean. Brandon was hysterical the whole ride and Johnny the 1st mate loved Brandon.

The ride took us around seaport, next to the airport (the busiest single runway airport in the country and the 2nd busiest in the world) and then we drove into the Bay and viewed the bay. We saw local sea lions, pelicans, cormarans as well as a variety of different military helicopters and even a destroyer ship.

San Diego has the largest military complex (navy, army, Coast Guard and reserves) in the world, and we were looking at a large part of it. Every year they graduate 21,000 marines.

That night, the lovely family we met at the pool invited us to their cabin for drinks. We had a lovely time hanging out with April, Chris and the two kids Xena and Hunter who were in between Inara and Brandon's age. The kids played well, had smores and we had nice adult conversation.

Update on roof bag... I received an email from Walmart stating the bag is out of stock and can not get them....

Navegando por la bahia de San Diego

    February 14, 2018 in the United States ⋅ ☁️ 18 °C

Read more

    San Diego & Hjemtur

    June 20, 2016 in the United States ⋅ ☀️ 37 °C

Det var igen med mellemlanding i Heathrow - USA over and out for denne gang.
Dagen får 3 stjerner ud af 5 (da det ikke var rart, at ferien var slut).
    Roadtrip: I dag: 56 km - i alt: 5.110 km

    Day 16

    August 20, 2017 in the United States ⋅ ⛅ 23 °C

Up 4am. Andy out 5am for San Diego 'Finest City' half marathon. V and friends also doing it.

I met Paul 6.30 and we walked to finish - took about an hour.

    Cloudy but warm.

V finished just over 2 hours and Andy PW.

Walked back to hotel - seemed to take forever! Sunny and warm now.

Hour to regroup then met 11.30. Had a beer & chicken sandwich/burger then out to Coronado island. Very gentile seaside town. Coronado hotel right beside the sea built 1878 - very grand and atmospheric.
Had icecream/coffee and sat around for a while.

Drove back across fabulous Coronado bridge - 2 miles long.

Back for rest and pack 3.30.

Met 5.30 - P & V took us to La Jolla. Very pleasant seaside town. Dinner at George's. Had calamares/octopus and tacos/grilled chicken. All quite nice but not spectacular. Service v quick. Waiter 'Hope you're having a good day. How can I make it better'. Yuk. V had glass wine and got chopsy - teasing waiters.

Then walk down to ocean. Hundreds of sea lions playing in the sea and on the beach.

Back to hotel and couple drinks in the bar. V had another glass of wine and gave us her political views!

    Bed 10.30.
