      Mayfair By The Lake

      During the night we had a terrific thunder storm. I was woken by rain hammering on the window closely followed by a bolt of lightning and a very loud clap of thunder. No sooner had the rain started it stopped just as if someone had turned the tap off but the lightening continued for a while. Fiona and I were watching it in the living room for a while.

      After breakfast we went to The Mayfair By The Lake in Lakekand. Celebrating its 50th year this year it is a huge Craft Fair situated around the lake.

      Small gazebos were set up selling all sorts of crafts including Ceramics, Jewellery, Art, Sculptures and much more.

      On our walk around the lake we were surprised by how many different sorts of wildlife there was.

      On the way back to the car we bought some freshly made Lemonade.

      The little town where this was held seems like a traditional American small town and had some really nice houses.      Leggi altro

      Celebrations In Celebration

      Today is my Birthday and I've had lots of messages, cards and gifts.

      Fiona and Mark are meeting up with Francis and Mark at Disney for the day so Martin and me are going to Celebration a Disney town.

      When we get there we walk down to and around the lake where we saw a Heron, Turtles and a Racoon but still no Aligators.

      We went for a drink in The Celebration Town Tavern and I had a birthday video call from Jackson and Tom.

      On the way back to the villa we shop at Aldi for some nice bits of steak for tea then spend the rest of the day by the pool. It's 98 degrees and we finish the day with thunder and a rain storm.

      As it's my birthday Martin has offered to cook the tea and a very good job he did of it too.      Leggi altro

      Dunedin

      Dunedin is the most like any town back home that we have been to or driven through, in the sense you can see people walking about and it has some sort of a centre.

      After a leisurely breakfast we head down to the marina via the Farmer's Market held in a park in the centre of the town.

      This market was full of food stalls and even had a stage for entertainment.

      We went down the boardwalk to watch the boats and the pelicans and egrets pestering the fishermen.      Leggi altro

      Disney Land/ Orlando

      We woke up super early on Tuesday morning to catch a Uber to New York airport. New York airport was very intense, A lot of shouting about and a lot of people, I would hate to to see what it’s like around Christmas. We got to Orlando and rented a car to drive to a resort that we were staying in. It was very large ( at least larger than our apartment in New York ) and it had a public pool and spa that we could visit which me and Dad did that night.

      On our first day in Orlando we went to Disney land Hollywood studios. There were a bunch of rides and games and characters to meet. Jemilla and I went on a roller coaster three times before we left. There was even a whole Star Wars section where you could go and drive a spaceship and so many more that are to hard to explain. There was also a whole Toy Story section that we went on two rides in, one where you competed with each other in like a digital 3D hit the target game while your cart moved. We won’t be returning to Hollywood studios but we will go to one of the other parks within Disney land tomorrow.

      We woke up around the same time as we did the day before to go to Disney World, Animal kingdom which was basically a Zoo cross theme park. Around the place there were a bunch of trees and animals and had jungle Christmas music playing over the speakers. We went on this Safari thing where we saw Lions, Elephants, Zebras, Hippos, Cheaters, Crocodiles and a Giraffe came up right next to our car and nearly popped its head in, and there was no barrier to keep it out. There was also this really fun mountain roller coaster that Jemilla and I rode a couple of times. On our last ride of it, in the line the ride was shut down because the roller coaster stopped half way through so we went on another one instead. One of my favourite rides was this virtual reality set in the Avatar section of the Park where it felt like you were riding this space bird thing and water sprayed all over your face and it was awesome.

      On our last day in Disney land we couldn’t get into the park untill 4:00 pm because we were going to Mickey very merry Christmas party, where basically you got to do all the rides like a usual day except there was Parade shows and free cookies and hot chocolate to eat. We got to the park by ferry ( because it was one of the biggest Disney land parks yet) and lined up. There were a lot of people there to start with because the people from the start of the day were still hanging about. We went on 4 roller coasters at the start of the day and then we got some Christmas cookies as well as a hot chocolate. The funny thing was that we kept going back for cookies to put in our bag for the next few days ( we weren’t being greedy, sometimes they gave us 3 cookies at a time they made thousands.) and because one of the rides Jemilla and I lined up for got cancelled yesterday we both got fast passes to skip the line on one ride so we used that on space mountain. We also got to go on this fast and scary roller coaster called Tron, which was a new one so there were a lot of people. At the end of the night there was a massive firework show that we got to watch and then we got home at 1:00am in the morning ready for our Flight to L.A at 7:30am! A little sleepy now!       Durch Downtown Kissimme sind wir im letzten Jahr durchgefahren und haben beschlossen, hier noch mal her zu kommen. Es ist ein ganz kleiner, ruhiger Stadteil. Das Parkhaus ist kostenlos. Im Lakefront Park kann man sehr schön spazieren und mit etwas Glück auch Aligatoren sehen.Leggi altro

      Celebration celebriert

      … Weihnachten 🎄 bei 26 Grad für mich ungewohnt. Auch wenn das Städtchen nicht natürlich gewachsen ist, jegliche Infrastruktur am Reißbrett entworfen wurde, so macht es doch Spaß hier durchzulaufen.
      Die Menschen sind freundlich, der Markt teuer, die Restaurants gut besucht. Erstaunlich jedoch, es gibt kaum öffentliche Toiletten. Nun ja der Spaziergang auf den gewohnten Holzstegen war entspannend.      Leggi altro

      Weihnachten im Sonnenschein

      Ganz ungewohnt für mich … 25 Grad und weihnachtlicher Glanz.
      Die “Retorten-Stadt” Kissimmee ist hübsch, bunt und teuer.
      Ganz umsonst war jedoch meine erste Begegnung mit einem kleinen Alligator 🐊 … Jubel auf ganzer Linie.Leggi altro

      Day 6 - Disney World-Epcot

      1 gennaio, Stati Uniti ⋅ ⛅ 21 °C

      Everybody was pretty tired, and we slept late. So far, the weather is gorgeous and warm in the park.

      Nana did not come with us today. Ares, Aspen, Kendra, and Daddy did the Spaceship Earth, which went through the dome... we had interactive computer screens as we went through the some.... you choose to build your future. At the end the time machine shows your future.

      Walked around and got to play 5 different interactive games. Ares loved it!

      Then, the kids had hot dogs and chips for lunch and a Mickey Mouse and Minniee ice cream bars.

      Then we rushed to Norway to see Anna and Elsa in Frozen land. First met Anna and then Elsa. Aspen was super thrilled!!! Ares told Elsa all about Toilet Tower Defense.

      Stood in line for the Frozen Ever After ride (a long line). Daddy went to a Norway Bakery and got to school breads (dense sweet dough with pudding, whipped cream and almond shavings) and sugar and butter roll ups, which Aspen did not like. And a big huge chocolate chip cookie 🍪

      We walked around to the different country exhibits and stopped at Japan and then headed back because everyone was tired.

      Nana decided not to do Epcot because her leg was very sore and is saving it for the Magic Kingdom.

      So Nana stayed with Lokie and cleaned up the trailer, aired out the blankets (Lokie hair), did 2 loads of laundry, took an awesome shower, and enjoyed the warm Florida weather while waiting for clothes to dry.😎

      Alec rented a golf cart, thank goodness, to carry the laundry. Nana enjoyed driving around the resort. Found 3 alligators and a baby snake.

      Kids got back around 5:30, and we went to check on the alligators. We did see a couple, though, barely as it was quite dark.

      Alec, Ares, and Aspen went swimming. The water was quite warm, the air not so much! Ares is swimming very well and can even float on his back for a long time!

      Supper, Zootopia movie, then bed (too late again).

      Alec and Kendra went out for supper to an Italian family style restaurant. The portions were huge... lots of leftovers.      Leggi altro

      Wir bekommen unseren RV

      Heute haben wir nach dem Frühstück noch ein wenig entspannt und dann ging es auf zu Road Bear wo wir unseren Wohnwagen entgegen genommen haben. Nachdem das Schriftliche geklärt war, habe ich mit den Jungs alles im RV eingeräumt und vorbereitet. Tim war in der Zwischenzeit im Walmart Supercenter und hat alles eingekauft. Da wir unser Mietauto an einer Station in der Nähe, allerdings bereit um 13 Uhr abgeben mussten, gab es für uns noch etwas Stress. Aber nach einem Telefonat konnte ich eine spätere Rückgabe klären. Und dann kam Tim mit ungefähr 20 Tüten Lebensmittel für die nächsten 7 Tage zum RV. Nachdem wir auch das verräumt hatten, machte Tim sich auf den Weg das Mietauto abzugeben. Ich bin mit den Jungs und dem RV dann auch zu der Station gefahren und habe Tim dort abgeholt. Ich hatte allerdings nicht auf dem Schirm, dass die Station in Downtown lag und somit gleich zu Beginn eine kleine Herausforderung mit dem RV war :) Allerdings kann man noch so langsam um irgendwelche Kurven fahren, nie würde ein Amerikaner hupen. Als wir Tim eingesammelt hatten, ging es dann endlich zum 1. Campingplatz, ein KOA im Süden von Orlando. Hier konnten sich die Kinder noch auf dem Spielplatz und der Hüpfburg auspowern. Abends haben wir Hotdogs gegessen und den Abend ausklingen lassen.Leggi altro

      Orlando Tag 2 - Teil 2

      Abends sind wir mit David zu seiner Tennis Akademie gefahren. Leider hat es am Nachmittag etwas geregnet, so dass wir zuerst die Plätze etwas trocknen mussten und erst danach please also remind spielen konnten. Es war aber trotzdem immer noch sehr warm und schwül und nach etwas Geduld konnten Charlene und ich noch eine entspannte Runde Tennisspielen. Anschließend bin ich noch in eine Trainingseinheit von Davids Akademie Spielern eingestiegen. Nachdem wir mit dem Tennis fertig waren, sind wir kurz einkaufen gegangen und anschließend haben Charlene und ich David und Laura unser berühmtes Risotto gekocht. Morgen gehen wir in die Universalstudios, was Mega schön werden wird!
      🇬🇧 in the evening we drove to the Tennis Academy of David. Unfortunately, it was raining in the afternoon, so we had to dry the courts and wait for a few minutes until we were able to play. Charlene and I
      Play the nice round of tennis in the dark under the floodlights, and after that I jumped in for a bit with some of David students at the Academy. After we were done with Tennis. We went grocery shopping and Charlene and I cook. David and Laura are famous risotto. Tomorrow we’re going to Universal Studios which will be very very nice.      Leggi altro
