Podróżnik https://www.washingtonpost.com/travel/2024/04/2… Hi Nick: Thought you might find this entertaining. I hope the Post lets you read it through this link.
Podróżnik Lisa, thanks for sending this. I did enjoy reading it. Rick is my hero and has been since ‘86 when I happened upon his first European guide. I followed it that following summer and found so many cool places because of him. That was before the travel empire but he really has stayed true to himself. I love his hand drawn maps and the nerdy humor he includes in his tours. I used some of his museum guides when I took students abroad. My week in Tenby, Wales is entirely due to his first guide. Also, my trip to Cinque Terre a few years ago is a direct result of Rick Steves. That’s one of those places he blew up in the tourism world because of his books. It’s funny that they uncover this hidden side to him in the article. He definitely reveals all of this in his podcast which I listen to regularly. He doesn’t hide a thing on there and he’s been promoting this car-free city center — which I fully endorse — for quite a while with his podcast guests. Thanks again. I loved reading that.
