trip Melbourne day 8 & 9 / skydiving

Yesterday morning wake up early and see if the weather is any good for skydiving. Unfortunately a lot of clouds so we ending up no skydiving. So I had a day were I could do a lot of stuff I had no time for sinds the last couple of weeks.

In the evening we watched the movie sausage party, it's hilarious!

Also this morning looking for the weather. And it was just okay. Because there are AFF students, they get to go first up in the plane. I knew that so I went surfing in the morning. The waves were pretty good, around head height. And I did stand-up 2 times on my hardboard. What is that board quick and responsive in comparison to a softboard!.

Afterwards I had a lovely shower. I watched some series and some landings of the students. At the end the wind was to strong to jump for the AFF students. But because I have an A-licence I could jump with stronger winds. I did together with someone else the B-rel stage 6.

We got up in the plane and on height we got together in the door. We did a linked exit. The exit was terrible, in de movie you can see that 2 people are counting so that's no good. After the exit we tumbled around and had to let go of eachother. Afterwards I made quickly Dock but the other guy was floating around. He cheated a bit on docking. When he docked he went immediately to the next position and everyone else was like wat is he doing. My track was way to short so I have to improve my tracking and track longer. I did a downsize on the canopy and flew a 230 in stead of a 240. My landing was just okay for the first time with a smaller canopy and a lot of wind.

You have to do 3 times B-rel stage 6. And you have to do an linked exit, unlinked exit and dock, finished 3 formations. So got 2 left to do at least an unlinked exit and get the 3 formations.

When we woke up in the morning we took a look at the beach next to where we slept. It was very beautiful, we could walk 1km on the beach and back trough a small forrest. Ofcourse we saw some Kangaroo's over there. In Australia are 45 million Kangaroo's so you see them everywhere

This morning we left early at 8:00

We saw some beaches and a few lakes. There are beautiful places everywere. Thesame with Kangaroo's. They are all over the place. Saw also some other animals such as seals, seagulls, sea eagle, jellyfish, other fishes, crabs, lizards, a lot of different birds.

In the afternoon we crossed a bridge over the lake. I was thinking of driving just over the water, but I didn't do it. See the picture.

Afterwards we went to an old village with old buildings. Had some cheese at a cheese factory.

Then we went to a Bleu pool. That's next to the sea and you can swim In it and see some animals!

In the evening we went to an old wharf and museum of it. That was interesting to see. And afterwards we ate bami! That was really delicious. The sunset here was really photo shopped. Just really perfectly beautiful!もっと詳しく

In the morning we drove to a national park. And in Australia they have. National parks everywhere!. The dirt road we followed wasn't the best road. Everywere holes and stuff. We arrived on a beach and we saw a lizard of 1.2m on the beach. Luckily we didn't had to go back over the road we came on. The other road was also a dirt road but it was a lot better! We went to a lookout, we could see one beach but it was cloudy. After waiting a few minutes the clouds where almost gone and you could see a lot more.

Then we went on a trail it was beautiful. You could see very far away. Then we did a hiking track that was also beautiful. It was within a dead forrest. And that was really nice to see! The track ended in a coastal line of rocks. That was a nice view!

On our way we wanted to do a road but it was a dirt road and we tried a shortcut and it was a bit more 4wd than expected. I really needed the 4wd and I even drove over a tree that was lying across the road. That was some experience and fun! Luckily it was a short road and not an half our or more.

Then we arrived in a city were we saw some pelicans. They are really huge!. It's definitely a meal for 8 persons :-P.

We went to secret beach, it wasn't that secret because there were signs all over the place. And it was just another beach. But on the beach was a sea cave. We were lucky that it wasn't high tide so we could go in the cave. It was really good exept for the annoying muskitos.

We found a free bbq next to the beach and cooked there noodles with salami, egg and mushrooms. That was a really good meal!

Then we drove a lot. Just a small bit via a touristic route trough the forrest. Then to some lookouts. We took a really flat dirtroad and made a shit load of dust behind us. We ended up in a forrest And took a little walk. There were some palm trees inside the forrest. On our way back I started a time-lapse. We drove on the dirtroad. Then on a normal road, visited a lookout. Then continued our way to a bigger city to eat over there.

After our dinner I drove to a campsite more land inwards. It was a drive just a bit more than 1 hour. It was a really nice road. There were a lot of corners and stuff. We had to stop for a tree on the road. We got the tree of the road and drove further. We saw some Kangaroo's and -herten- on our way. I didn't know they lived also here. And in the end we finally arrived at our campsite.もっと詳しく

trip Melbourne day 12

This morning I woke up and had some breakfast. Then we went for a drive of 2 hours. First trough the forrest and next into the mountains. Saw sheep, cows and Kangaroo's on the road. It was a really good ride. It was almost 2 hours of gravel road.

Then we arrived at a gorge, it was 610m deep with a little River in it. Then we went to the waterfall of the little River and did a short hike.

Afterwards we went on the road again and it was only asphalt. But it was a nice ride trough the mountains.

Then we arrived at some caves, unfortunately it was only tours and stuff so we didn't got in the caves. The drive back to the coast was pretty easy but still with a lot of corners. We had some other nice views. Then we did some groceries and again some pizza from domino's!

Unfortunately is the Powersteering still leaking and it's making more and more noise. For now it's working so just drive.

In the evening we drove to an other city and parked the car there for sleeping. The way to the city was totally the opposite whe had this morning. The street was totally straight and the landscape was pretty flat. Almost thesame as in the Netherlands.もっと詳しく

This morning I woke up around 6:30 and did some running around a lake. And afterwards we went together walking around that Lake. It was a park in a city.

Then we visited 90 miles beach. That's the longest beach in Australia of 150km long. Further than you could see with your eyes!

Between the long Beach and the next national park we visited a waterfall. Also pretty nice!

In the afternoon we went to a national park in the south. It was really nice over there. We did some hiking over there and had a lot of nice views.

In the evening we drove some further towards Melbourne. Probably we arrive tomorrow in Melbourne.もっと詳しく

This night wasn't to bad but a lot of wind and bit of rain. It was almost 15 degrees colder than the night before.

We went to some beaches and some lookouts. They were okay and good. Then we went to Philip island. We went to a koala park where they live in the wild. But unfortunately we couldn't spot one koala. But there were a lot of Flys. They where. Very annoying and sat with their whole family on our back.

In the evening we went to see the pinguin parade. The smallest pinguins (30cm) live only in Australia and are blue-white (instead of black-white). In the evening at dusk they come out of the sea and go to there nest. When they come out of the sea it looked liked they marched like a Pelton of army man to the coast. So funny to see. This morning was our last breakfast together with adrien. I bought him to a train station in Melbourne. It was a good couple of weeks together. We had some fun! Thanks mate!

I had a short walk though a nice Park in Melbourne.

I got some gasoline at a fueling station. It took a long time to fill the tank so probably the last of the gasoline. And when I was driving I smelled an rotten egg smell. Glad I didn't filled up the tank. So tomorrow tank some decent and not old gasoline.

I also went to a mechanic for my powersteering, and when I wanted to drive away. The pump broke again. But now I need a pump and rack. So even more expensive. Lucky I found some stuff and gonna pick it up tomorrow.

I did some shopping and went to the aldi. And I wanted to have an snorkel and goggles. And guess what I found in the aldi? Yes a complete snorkel set. Just perfect and cheap!.

In the evening I found out that the battery is getting extraordinary warm. Lets see what I can see in the morning. Probably the 2nd battery is dead. So an unexpected perfect day!. Pfff.もっと詳しく

car fixed again

Yesterday I drove to a center for spareparts. They had a rack and powersteering pump for me. So I got the stuff.

In the evening I met up with joost. Because joost is differently earthed. He is probably my next travel mate. I went with him to the pinguins at St kilda. Whe were just a bit to late but we still could see them. And because it was already 7 December we ate some pepernoten :-D. There was a guy from Belgium and he tried to speak vlemisch to us but it was terrible and he was only one year in Australia. So I'll see how my Dutch is after my trip.

Late in the evening we went to the casino and watched other people and drunk a beer. In the picture you see the table where you can wash your hands in the casino's bathroom. Try to find the sink :-P. Before I knew it was already 2:00 and I had to get back to the car. Only thing was that the trams weren't riding so I had to walk for 1:15 before I was at the car. Next time see if the trams are running. 4:00 I was In my bed.

The next morning I had to deliver my car @ the mechanic. So I had only 4 hours of sleep.

In the morning I had to get the spare car key from adrien. He had it still in his pocket. I was lucky that he had missed his flight. And I met there some people.

In the afternoon I went to the botanic gardens. It was a very nice Park! And I also visit the shrine of remembrance. It was about the Australian soldiers in the 1st and 2nd world War. Afterwards I could pick-up my car! Now it steers a lot better. Even better than ever before. So thats good, now only check the oil the next couple of km.もっと詳しく

watching animals

Yesterday I went with someone to sealife and saw a lot of fish. I also found Nemo! I didn't know they where so small!. Unfortunately I couldn't find dory. Also saw bigger pinguins!

I ending up cooking almost on the beach. But with a lot of wind it's not a good idea. Everything cools so quickly and it was so cold due the hard wind.

In the evening I went again to the little pinguins. Now I was a bit earlier. I expect more pinguins, but it wasn't that much. I saw also water rats.

This morning I had a nice shower! Afterwards I met up with another traveler and we went together to the zoo of Melbourne. The park was very nice and saw a lot of animals. Also a wombat, koala and tasmanian devil, now I only whant to see them in the wild!

Just after dinner we walked through an alley which was covered in gravity. And really everything what's covered but it was nice to see.

In the evening we went to the Skydeck. That's the tallest building in Melbourne and you could go up to level 88 which is 285m. Here was a big room so you could look over the city 360 degrees around. We went when it was just light and would see the sunset. But the sun was behind the clouds. And in the dark you could see a lot of lights of the city. It was a great view.もっと詳しく

Yesterday morning I left Melbourne and headed to the dropzone of torquay. On my way I had some good views and could see the high buildings of Melbourne. In the evening I arrived at the dropzone.

This morning I woke up at the dropzone. I got breakfast. Then I went to get to the owner of the dropzone and talked to him what he needed before I jump. An instructor called another instructor from Moruya to hear how good I am. And I could do solo jumps straight away. So thats good. I did 2 solo tracking jumps. And tracking is forward movement. The landings where fine and I survived so 2 good jumps. The view was amazing. I could see the high buildings of Melbourne and saw Phillip island.

At the end of the afternoon I went to a beach close-by and wanted to surf. When I tried to get my Surfboard of my roof racks I discovered that the points where the roof rack is connected to the roof of the car where broken cause rust. So thats pretty shit because now only one half is still connected to the roof. But anyway I went to surf and could catch a wave really good. And it was cooling because it was today 30 degrees.

Afterwards I searched A free bbq and made some food for 3 people and discovered that it was to much for myself :-P. What I heard a Pretty common thing when you only cooking for yourself.

Today I went running first thing in the morning. Straight after I jumped in my wetsuit and went surfing. It went better, I could catch a few waves and had 1 really good ride.

I had a decent lunch. Noodles with eggs, salami and zucchini. Then I started to conquer the great ocean road. I had a few stops. The first stop I went for a hike and walked past some waterfalls. They were just okay. The hike was 7,7km and it took me 1:30 so yeah I walked a bit fast. I also made a short Time-lapse, but it was difficult to hold my hand steady.

After the walk went back on the road. I stopped at a pier. Far away on the sea you could see clouds and the stripes of rain below. That was nice to see. Afterwards I went to another waterfall. This one was a bit better than the other ones. Then I hit the road again and went up to the mountains for some other waterfalls tomorrow. There are everywhere signs of the possibility of forrest fires. In the mountains where I headed is also a camping place so I went there. I got a time-lapse of the road towards the campground.

It was pretty busy at the campground. I went to a group and they where all Dutch. One girl was first traveling alone and now her mam joined her for 3 weeks. So cute to see there traveling together! The other 2 girls where friends. One already did the whole WA and the other girl was on holiday for 5 weeks. It was a cosy evening.もっと詳しく

I went this morning to the falls where I camped. They were very beautiful. Then I went to some other falls, they were also very nice. Then I went to the main road again and did the last part of the great ocean road. I went to the 12 apostles, and some other lookouts. The view where stunning! Mostly it was touristic and sometimes I thought I was in China... Really dramatic so much Chinese people, and they make so many pictures!.

At the end I parked at an waterfall. The waterfall is 11m high and 90m wide. Almost widest of australia.もっと詳しく

Yesterday I went first for a hike and saw some rabbits (search the one on the photo). Then I went to warrnambool and got some stuff and groceries. At the aldi they had Minions tic tac how awsome!

I also went to some mechanics to see what their opinion is to fix my roof racks. Afterall new new original brackets are 300 dollar excluding labour costs. And an aftermarket rail would be 170 and is stronger. So thats probably what I'm gonna do when I'm in adelaide.

In the evening I went to 2 beaches to see if I could surf. But the waves were way to small. So I watched some series. In the evening I finally got a hot shower. That feels really good after a week! And later in the evening I met my next travel mate to travel to Adelaide.

This morning I went for a surf @ warrnambool but it was really hard and couldn't catch one wave. So just went back to my car and drove to tower Hill national park.

The park is really beautiful! It was a volcano and now a wildlife reserve. I saw a lot of animals. Emoes where walking everywhere. I saw a few lizards called assface becouse there ass looks like an face. I saw only one walibi. A few black swans. A lot of birds. And I saw the first wild snake and wild koala. It was a small snake, I think 80cm or something and it was brown. The koala I saw was chilling in a tree. And if they make sounds it looks like a boar.

Afterwards I went to another beach for Surfing
I met 2 girls from Switzerland and then went for a surf. It went pretty well. Could stand up 2 times so. Then I went to the 2 girls and had a cosy evening.もっと詳しく

Today was a windy and long pants day. I did not too much. I finally did some go-karting. Everything was to cry. The karts had late maintenance, and it wasn't professional. But afterall it was fun to do it again. I drove first with a gokart with weared front tires. Laptimes where bad. Next session I had a better go-kart and improved from 22.6 to 21.7 sec. It's just okay.

Then I watched some series and in the evening I went to the cinema for the new starwars movie. I as the fist to walk in. I figured the cinema was bigger.もっと詳しく

This morning I woke up and it was cold. It was something like 5 degrees! In the morning but still. That's cold. A bit colder and we get snow! On the day it's only 18 degrees so still not really warm. Tomorrow would be 30 so that's better. :-)

I went today together with my travelmate to Grampians national park. We did some hiking. Unfortunately my travelmate wasn't trained and has short legs. So I had to wait for her all the time. That's okay for a few days. So I also take it easy. We saw a waterfall with 3 drops of water. Really sad to see. The cave was just okay. But the view was pretty good!. Only we had to look for casing rocks and small local rain :-P. I went for a climb to the top of the last waterfall. That was pretty good, you can see me on top of it.

My travelmate had to be at 2pm on work for the last day. But at 2 we drove back and it was a ride from 1,5 hour. Whoops..

When we got back I made some food, got groceries, got my petrol tank filled so ready to hit the road tomorrow. Later in the afternoon I went for a surf. It went better than last time so that's good. Just keep practising.もっと詳しく

Today I woke up early to make a early start. I went to the house where my travelmate slept for the last time. And she still had to dry her laundry. So afterall 1 hour later we left towards Portland.

The drive was somewhere like 1 hour. First we went to some lookout. It was just okay and it was also a small 4wd track. Then we visited a world War lookout, it was daily opend but unfortunately today not. So just enjoyed the view. Afterwards we went to some yellow rock lookout. There were a lot of surfers and the waves where really good! But the view was just nice. Also they have windmills here just like in the Netherlands ;-).

Also in Portland there was a blowholes lookout, it was just okay, but next to it there was an petrified forrest. At least they called it so because it just looked like it. That was really amazing to see!

At last we drove to some amazing caves. Really stunning so nice!. When we wanted to go we saw an old couple with a leak tire so I helped them and had a nice chat. Then dinner and afterwards to mount Gambier.

Just before there was a sinkhole. We had a look and it was really weird. All the surrounding forrest where cut and there was only a small Piece of wood still there. The sinkhole was used for divers. There was an platform and stuff, I think it was 25 meters deep.

In the city mount Gambier there was also a sinkhole but this one was built into a garden it was really nicely done! In the sinkhole there were some possems, one almost bit in my finger :-P. Then we went to a Blue Lake. It was really blue. Just like the coolant of a car. Really weird to see but beautiful!.

All the places we saw the same people. Probably they did all thesame points as us. Pretty funny.

This morning also a early morning. We drove a nice road next to the sea.

Today was a lot of driving and some sightseeing. We went to some places with salt lakes, did some donuts with the car on there. Also some hikes. Nothing really special. It was just nice. At the end of the day we went to a tunnel. 'it wasn't open for public' so ofcourse I just went inside. It wasn't that long but was nice to see.

And in the evening we finally arrived in adelaide after driving more than 500km today.もっと詳しく

This morning I packed the last of my stuff and around 8 I started to drive. Just before 12 I arrived at the farm. And immediately I started.

I helped to get some grain in the silo. Afterwards fixing some things. At last we got some hay bales and put them in the hay shed. I could drive the tractor to pickup the hay bales.

I got accommodation, food and everything. So thats really good. Also the wage is pretty good.

I don't know how long I'll be working here but I'll see how everything goes. Probably less post's on here.もっと詳しく

first working week

The whole week I'm helping on the farm with different things. It's a farm that harvest grain and have sheep's and horses. They got about 3500 acres of ground what's a normal farm in Australia.

This week I drove for the first time in a harvester. That was pretty cool! I also drove some more tractor. Because the weather was bad this week I did a lot of other stuff, such as cleaning machines and repairs. In total a bit more than 60 hours so good money.もっと詳しく

lots of hours

Monday I learned how to maintain the gleaner and afterwards drove it for a couple of hours. Rest of the day was all little stuff. At the end of the day the Peter (the old farmer) tried to roadkill 2 rabbits. Maybe he hit one properly but the other one survived :-P. The rabbits are not goqod for the crop.

Wensday evening Peter felt down of the truck trailer, and injured himself. Luckily he could walk normal but was a bit sore. After a scan in the hospital he had a cracked vertebra in his back. So he had to do it "easy". You know how old farmers are, take it easy is not in their dictionary.

Thursday I woke up a bit earlyer and started to maintain the gleaner and afterwards drove until mortie came around 3 o clock. Afterwards I did some stuff and finished bit after 10 so that's a pretty long day of more than 15 hours.

Saturday, I did feed the sheep first and then maintenance at the header. (gleaner) afterwards I had to clean up some lentils that felt next to the bin.. Almost 2000kg.. Oops. Afterwards I drove a bit on the header. In the afternoon we had to stop of the heat. Because there were a lot of fires at other places. So had a few hours rest and then did some other stuff. I watched cricket for the first time. It's a very popular sport in Australia. Just like soccer in Holland.

Sunday I had the morning off and the afternoon some maintaining at the header and afterwards bring some grain to graincorp.

Total this week was a lot of work, total of 85 Hours and so a lot of money for traveling and skydiving :-D.

farmwork

This week I again drove on the header. I helped Peter (old farmer) to bring grain with the truck to graincorp. And I drove for the fist time in a real truck, Awsome! And every morning I had to feed the sheep. They got 2 dogs and they love attention Haha. Good to have them around, there also dogs to get the sheep together.

Wensday it was raining and had to stop harvesting. We could do some maintenance on some machines.

This farm reminds me of an old friend of my, he was also living on a farm. But stuff every where and you can't find anything. A lot of used stuff, because you never know when it comes in handy!. An old stubborn farmer who's gonna quit when he's in a wooden box. Every Sunday to church just because they do it already 70 years. So why would you quit going to church? :-P

And then you realize that farming is a hobby instead of work. If you have a farm. Mostly you work all day long almost every day. Always at home. Once a year a week on holiday if you're lucky. Well I'll be rather working 40 hours for a company and do whatever I want next to it :-D.

This week I realized I don't want to be a farmer. Probably after a few months there's no challenge and only hard work. But what do I wanna be and what do I wanna do? You can be and do anything you want! Okay almost anything then.

Most of all be yourself!. Ah yeah one problem solved!. Only thing is to figure out who you are... Not that easy..

What I wanna do? To much at the same time. So I definitely wanna keep skydiving, motorcrossing, snowboarding, go-karting, surfing.. Hmm yeah I see maybe only surfing if I can't do all the other stuff. But what I'm gonna do? How do I get my money to live? Engineer 40 hours a week at the same place? Or maybe in the field to travel all over the world and see nothing, because your aways working?. Maybe become a skydive instructor? Or maybe something else, like a nurse? Hmm, definitely no! Haha :-P.

And where do I wanna live? Netherlands? Why, because I lived there for 26 years and my family and friends live there? Hmm.. We will see.

I hope I can answer the question after my traveling. Until now I don't know what traveling is gonna bring me and how long it will take, but I know already that is gonna end and that I have my answers by then.

Oh yeah and ofcourse I worked this week. Not much exciting new stuff. But still driving tractors, combine and more farming stuff. The dogs always try to get in the back of the ute and come along. I had it once without knowing. Halfway I saw a dog in my mirror..:-P. Sunrise and sunset are really nice. And the wheat crop we're now harvesting is full of dust! Wensday was my first time to drive the header in the dark. Lucky the crop was easy because you can't see much in the dark with a lot of dust.

I'm glad they have a freezer here so I can eat icecream everyday! Jeeahj!もっと詳しく

already 1 month of work

One evening I was just finished with work and when I walked back to the house I suddenly saw a spider on the road. It was a harmless one but it was around 10cm big.

When I was picking weed from a paddick I found a skull, probably from a fox. Pretty cool!

We had to bring the other header (John Deere) back home. It was 1 hour drive with a car but back with the header took us 4 hours. It was 125km and the header drove 35km/h. So that was some trip! The day after I could drive in the John Deere header. It was a lot easier and quicker than the gleaner. But that should be with 12 years difference. Everything was more automatically only push some buttons and control if everything is alright all the time.

This week was also a long work week of almost 82 hours. Maybe next week less. I'll see what happens.もっと詳しく

Weeding (no not weed for smoking :-P)

This week a lot of weeding. But it isn't that bad work. Imagine nice warm weather of 28 degrees. Nice sunny. A light breeze, walking around and look around you. Just like hiking right?! Only now you walk half day on the same paddick. Looking for thesame plants and earn money in the meantime. I can imagine worst jobs. The only thing that's really annoying are the Flies, they are continually buzzing around your face and go on your face, in your ears and nose.

Next to work I had to make some plans for the next travel period. Probably I'll work till 1 February
