    It was dark and quiet when Sylvie, Awen, Nessy, and I embarked on our much-anticipated adventure to Bretagne and Normandy. The early morning hours held a sense of excitement as we left home at 4 am, ready to embrace the beauty and history of this charming region.

    By noon, we found ourselves standing in awe before the majestic Château de Chambord, a masterpiece of Renaissance architecture that seemed to have sprung from a fairytale. As we wandered through its grand halls and intricate staircases, it was impossible not to be captivated by the grandeur of this French icon.

    After our tour of the castle, we ventured outside to soak in the natural wonders that surrounded us. The picturesque canal that winds through the estate offered a tranquil setting for a leisurely walk. The sight of red deer and wild boar in their natural habitat added a touch of magic to our day, reminding us of the untamed beauty of nature that thrives in these parts.

    As the sun began its descent, casting a warm, golden glow over the landscape, we found the perfect spot to witness a breathtaking sunset. Sylvie, Awen, Nessy, and I sat in silence, sharing this moment of serenity together.

It was a momentous occasion, especially for Nessy, as she laid eyes on the vast expanse of the ocean for the very first time. With a little hesitation but boundless curiosity, she followed Awen's lead and took her first steps into the cool, refreshing waters. The joy that radiated from them as they frolicked in the waves was infectious, and it was evident that this seaside adventure had already become a cherished memory.

    As the day gave way to evening, we embarked on a leisurely walk around the charming peninsula that surrounded us. The salty breeze carried the scent of the sea, and the rhythmic sound of waves crashing against the rocks was a soothing backdrop to our explorations. With the first rays of dawn illuminating the sky, I couldn't resist the temptation to capture the serene beauty of the sunrise. Gently slipping out of our cozy cottage, I set out to take some photographs, each frame a testament to the magic of this place.

    Upon my return, we indulged in a leisurely breakfast on our charming terrace, savoring the fresh sea air and the tranquility that only mornings by the ocean can bring. It was the perfect start to another day of exploration and discovery.

    Our two Border Collies, Awen and Nessy, were eager to frolic in the ocean once again, and so we made our way to the beach. Watching them chase waves and play in the surf was a joyful reminder of the simple pleasures that nature provides.

    With the sun shining brightly overhead, I embarked on a two-hour hike that circumnavigated the island. The trail meandered through lush coastal vegetation, offering breathtaking vistas of the rugged coastline and the azure waters of the Atlantic. Each step was a reminder of the unspoiled beauty that Bretagne had to offer.

    Our journey around the island was punctuated by stops at pristine beaches where Awen and Nessy eagerly splashed in the surf, their tails wagging with unbridled joy. The sea breeze was invigorating, and the salty water was a refreshing respite from the warmth of the sun.

    As Sylvie ventured into the open sea, she was treated to a magnificent display of marine life. The sight of blue-footed boobies gracefully soaring through the sky was a rare and wondrous sight. Dolphins danced alongside the boat, their playful antics bringing joy to all on board. The inquisitive seals, with their curious eyes, made an appearance, adding to the enchantment of the day.

    While these remarkable creatures remained a bit distant, their presence was a testament to the untamed beauty of Sept Île. The opportunity to witness such wildlife in their natural habitat was a cherished experience, reminding us of the importance of preserving these ecosystems.

    As the first rays of sunlight bathed the coastline in a warm, golden glow, we arrived in St. Malo, greeted by the gentle sound of waves lapping at the shore. It was an invitation too enticing to resist, and we took a leisurely walk along the beach, the sand cool beneath our feet. Witnessing the sunrise over the tranquil waters of the English Channel was a serene and magical start to the day.

    Our appetite for adventure and exploration led us next to the medieval village of Dinan, a place steeped in history and charm. The narrow cobblestone streets wound their way through the town, past half-timbered houses that seemed frozen in time. The imposing silhouette of the old castle and the grandeur of the ancient churches whispered stories of centuries gone by.
