Dinner at Helga's Folly, a weird gothic restaurant at the top of the hill, completely on our own. We were both sure we would be next on the menu. Thanks to Rob SM for the suggestion.
Today was optional activities so we hired a local guide, Janaka (who was great), for just the two of us. Pick up at 07:30 and a 2hr 30 drive to Sigiriya, an ancient fortress that's basically a tallLeggi altro
Beautiful gardens! Millions of bats!! A few monkeys too :) Our Tuk Tuk broke down on the way but the driver managed to fix it after causing a lot of smoke
Had a more relaxed day today, walked around the Royal Botanical Gardens.
There were about 1 million bats in the trees above and they said hello by pooping on nick 😂

Starting our 6 hour train journey from Kandy to Ella
Nick spent a long time trying to get a spot by the door so he could dangle his long legs out for “the feeling of freedom” and the perfect photo! Ellie enjoyed the views of the tea plantations andLeggi altro
Walked through tea gardens up to the top of Ella’s rock, Ellie only had one breakdown on the way up (it was completely vertical and seemingly endless) but the view was worth it. The lunch with theLeggi altro
Ellie was thrilled to see another waterfall as she felt Iceland hadn't quite had enough in March. Ella means waterfall in Sinhalese and this was its namesake.
We also stopped off at a viewpointLeggi altro
After a few hours of driving (and a few stops for photos along the way!) we made it to Yala for our safari jeep tour.
The main goal was to see Leopards as this national park has the highest densityLeggi altro
