    Middle of the desert

    September 16, 2018 in Australia ⋅ 🌙 12 °C

This morning there was frost everywhere, it was so cold, it was even on our tent, I was warm in my sleeping bag but mum and dad were cold. Today we drove 3 hours. We had egg and bacon for breakfast. Where we're staying has a lot of wildlife, on the way we tallied all the road kill we saw, we saw 110 dead animals. We also went on a walk through a gully, on the way mum saw a stumpy lizard. We stopped the car and looked at it, it was very slow. On our hike we had no directions so on the way back we had to retrace our foot steps. We also made land marks, arrows with sticks, and look behind you. Tommorow dad said we will do something awesome, I don't know what but I'm excited.Read more

    Coward springs

    September 17, 2018 in Australia ⋅ 🌙 19 °C

Today we left our campsite. Today we tallied all the live kangaroos , there where 8 live kangaroos. On the way we stopped at a midget town, we had wattle seed ice cream, it was good except my brother got greedy and sucked all the ice cream out of the cone and shoved the cone into his mouth.

We are currently driving on the oodnadatta highway, in Aboriginal language it means S-H-I-T water, that was the funny part. We also stopped at a deserted village, I found it depressing and boring because every thing was broken and old. Today we hit dirt road. It was very bumpy. Our campsite is very updated even though we are surrounded by nothing. They have also made a hot spring, it's small but warm, we didn't stay in it for long. When we got out it was really cold. Now my dad is making bangers and mash, with the griller I got him for Father's day. Tommorow we are heading to Coober Pedy.

    Coober Pedy

    September 18, 2018 in Australia ⋅ 🌙 14 °C

Today we drove 4 hours. And so far we have driven 1760 km. We stopped at a town called Williams Creek, it has the smallest population in Australia. We arrived at Coober Pedy, we are staying in an underground campsite. But we are above because our tent is too big, but it's very windy. We also did a tour at our campsite because it's part of an old opal mine. We learnt how to find opals, the technique's and tools, it was very facinating, our tour guide made a lot of jokes. After we went to the center of the town and went to the pub, Felix ordered a berry smoothie. But I did not under stand why it came in plastic cup, lid,and straw when we are staying in the pub. It was point less really, and it was like we were in America because the small was very big. Tommorow we are going to look round Coober pedy. And when we hit the road we will not be on dirt road any more, it will be tarmac, finally!Read more

  • Day 5

    Last day in Coober Pedy

    September 19, 2018 in Australia ⋅ 🌙 15 °C

Today we were very lazy, we had a lie-in. We headed into town. We went to the opal museum and shop, it was very fascinating because I didn't know what an opal looked like , I found out it's like a vibrant coloured stone with different coloured holo slithers. I actually bought a necklace with opal on it for $20. Next we went to the mountains of dirt that the miners had dug out and dumped. We searched for left over opals but did not find anything. We visited the kangaroo orphanage. We saw saved adult kangaroos, they we're very tame, when I fed them they slobbered all over my hand. The guy showed us a baby wombat, and finally a baby kangaroo, she was so cute and small. We went to the op shop. I found a big cat opal necklace for $15!!!. I was very annoyed. But I didn't get one because I already have one. Tonight we had kangaroo for dinner, I didn't want to eat it because I had just seen a baby kangaroo, I felt very guilty. Tommorow we are travelling 8 hours to Yulara.Read more

    A made up story

    September 20, 2018 in Australia ⋅ ⛅ 19 °C

ZARA AND KRIPNOOR , read this NOW please

One day a lady called Rosa looked up cafes in Moonee Ponds. She found a place called Fat milk, she liked the idea of the cafe even though she was on a diet. She drove to fat milk. She entered the building. But what she didn't realize was there were lots and lots of fat people. She went to the counter, the guy behind the counter was very large with the name tag Barry. Rosa said "can I please have a skinny milk coffee" Barry said firmly " sorry you can have that" "why" Rosa exclaimed "why do you think we're called Fat milk, there's a skinny milk cafe down the road. " Fine" Rosa huffed. She went out the door and down the street, she never went to fat milk again, and Barry made sure of it.

I did this because today we did nothing but driving. This is for Zara and Kripnoor (u know what I mean). Oh yeah Zara and Kripnoor, I know I've said this joke to many times,I'm just going to try annoy you (sorry 😏)

    Uluru Walk Walk Walk

    September 21, 2018 in Australia ⋅ ⛅ 17 °C

Today it was pouring with rain, we waited 1 hour for it to die down. We drove to Uluru and went to the cultural center. We learnt about symbols in the Aboriginal paintings. We were told a story of a snake and a poisonous snake fighting because the snakes nephew was torchered by the poisonous snake as punishment, in their tribe if you punishment someone you have to nurse them back to health, but the poisonous snake didn't so the lady snake killed him, the morral was to follow tribal rules. We went to Ayers Rock, we had a water backpacks to try out. We walked round the rock, it took so long. It was eleven kilometers. The water backpacks were worth it .My feet were so sore. We also saw some art the Aboriginals had painted on the rock. At the end we got a reward of ice cream. I'm am nervous for our next walk because it's apparently really hard. Tommorow we are going to do really small tour walks, and after hang around the pool. I hope the walks are not to long because I think our legs with be VERY sore.Read more

  • Day 8

    Last day in Uluru

    September 22, 2018 in Australia ⋅ ☀️ 24 °C

Today we woke up REALLY EARLY. It was five o'clock when we got into the car. We drove to a site seeing area to see the sunrise on Uluru, I was very cold. We drove straight to a clump of rocks half an hour from Ayers Rock, it was called Kata Tjuta. It warmed up quickly. We did the short walk through the rocks. Apparently that rock is linked to Ayers Rock underground. Then we drove back to Ayers Rock and did a tour of the mala walk. I felt like we were going back and forth. We did the tour, there was lots of information, and our tour guide made lots of jokes. We also saw all the people climbing the rock, and when they came on the tour our tour guide told how disrespectful it was, I could see them thinking ' oopps'. We drove back to our campsite and hung round the pool. It was ICE COLD, even my dad didn't go in. I chilled on the side. Tommorow we are going to drive 3 hours to Kings Canyon.Read more

It was very easy, I was so surprised because mum and dad said it was hard. And the views were amazing. It was my dad's birthday today. We made a cake and ate it for afternoon tea. It was lemon cake. We went to an art gallery, their was lots of Aboriginal paintings, my mum bought one, we also looked at some of buildings used for white education to Aboriginal kids, it was very old and creepy. Alice Springs

    September 27, 2018 in Australia ⋅ 🌙 21 °C

We arrived at Alice Springs. We are meeting our friends there from Melbourne, they're going to go back in our camper trailer. We are staying in a yoga studio. The place has a pool, but it's very cold. I still got in though. We had Italian for dinner. The next day, also known as today, we went to the telegraph station, we did not go in it though because it costs lots of money. We saw the old telegram poles, they looked unstable. Then we went to a reptile center. We saw lots of snakes, we also saw bearded dragons climbing trees. My favourite was the thorny devil, because they're small, spiky, and colourful, and Terry the salt water crock. We listened to a talk. The lady let us hold the bearded dragon, blue tongue lizard, and baby Olive python. She also told us how to react when you see a snake, and if you get bitten, what to do. We had Indian Curry for dinner, it was delicious.Read more
