    Amsterdam

    August 10, 2018 in the Netherlands ⋅ 🌧 14 °C

Today we had an early start to catch the new direct Eurostar from London to Amsterdam! We had a lovely breakfast on the train and once we arrived in Amsterdam we got lost on the way to our hotel (it wouldn’t be long until we got lost so may as well make it the first place we are trying to find). After some Dam Fries and a walk around we went on a Pizza Boat Tour around the canals. A lovely first day (even if we are drenched from all the rain)Read more

    Berlin

    August 11, 2018 in Germany ⋅ ⛅ 20 °C

After a morning checking out the Ice Bar in Amsterdam and getting even more Dam Fries we caught a train to Berlin. We shared a cabin on the train with two couples from Germany. They were really friendly. After they got off at Dresden we had a whole cabin to ourselves so we played some chess (and I won) We arrived in to Berlin at nearly 10pm. We thought we’d make the most of our short time here so went for some cocktails in our hotels bar.Read more

    A long train to Prague

    August 12, 2018 in Czech Republic ⋅ ⛅ 24 °C

We had an early start in Berlin to catch our next train to Prague! It was a long train but I finished my book (and tried to hide the fact the ending made me cry in public) and I watched some tv on my tablet. Our train was delayed so by the time we had checked in at our apartment we didn’t have lunch until 4pm. We went to a bar and I had a quesadilla while O had a hot dog. We then had a walk around and went over the bridges (I was very brave even though I am scared of heights) and went along to to Old Town. We did so much walking that afternoon but we still weren’t hungry so we ended up having not one but two ice creams for tea! They even had cucumber flavoured ice cream but I couldn’t convince O to try it with me. We went to a few museums and then walked back across Charles Bridge.Read more

    Prague

    August 13, 2018 in Czech Republic ⋅ ⛅ 29 °C

We started our day off with a tasty breakfast of avo-toast and smoothies on our balcony. We then walked to the Prague Castle and up too many steps to get to the top. It was really hot and muggy at the top of the castle and there was lots to see. We went inside a few of the buildings but got a bit bored so walked back down to the waterfront to get some lunch. After lunch we went to the John Lennon wall and to the Muncipal Library which had a tower made out of books. We were both a bit tired after a busy few days so decided to have a sit down in a park by the waterfront. Just as we got ourselves comfortable it started to pour it down. It was the kind of rain where it hurts when it hits you 😰 We couldn’t decide between going to a cafe to stay dry or heading back for a nap (we ended up going back for a nap). We had a reservation booked for a table outside at Villa Richter, we were uncertain whether to still go due to the storm but we were so glad that we did. We had the most beautiful meal in the most beautiful place and we will definitely go back there if we come back to Prague.Read more

    The road to Bratislava

    August 14, 2018 in Slovakia ⋅ ⛅ 24 °C

Our check out time was 11am so we allowed ourselves a lie in before checking out and heading for an early lunch before our train. We both had ‘Czech Sausage’ and chips and both weren’t too fond on the sausage 😬 After a reasonably easy journey to the station we were on our way to Bratislava. When we arrived we were tired and a bit grouchy. We decided to take a walk to find somewhere to have dinner. This walk ended up turning in to us falling in love with the city. The architecture, the atmosphere, everything was so unique and so enjoyable. We found a restaurant that sold salmon for €13.50 so we were sold. We ordered our food and then were asked, what for the main? We looked bemused. It was actually €37.00 for a main meal of salmon! We opted for the cheapest options on the menu which was pasta. I think I may have had the best lasagne of my life there. After tea we went for more of an explore before retiring to bed 😅Read more
