    A summer day

    July 9, 2019 in Australia ⋅ ☀️ 17 °C

When the sun is hitting it's a warm drive reminding us keep our eyes up for water, and today that search was not as easy, but a "visitor" look around a caravan park eventually helped us out.
Enyoing this beautiful summer day we climbed more sand dunes chasing lakes and ocean. A cliff by the end of an unsealed road with not a single breeze made the stop for tonight, allowing us to comfortably semi-shower before the evening wind brought in the high tide and slowed down our cooking because the stove is dying and need extra help in the wind.Read more

    Elliston& Perlubie Beach, Australia

    April 6, 2018 in Australia ⋅ ⛅ 15 °C

    Streaky Bay/Scerles Bay

    January 20 in Australia ⋅ ⛅ 19 °C

As we had a few big days straight driving we decided to take the scenic coastal route to Port Augusta. Smokey Bay and Streaky Bay were little townships in the bay, famous for oyster farms. It was low tide so it was shallow.
Scearles Bay however faced the ocean and it was magnificent! Kms of pristine, beautiful beach and we had it all too ourselves!
On the way back to main road we passed this unusual lake inlet that was bright turquoise in colour and there were remains of an early settlement village.
There was a sea lion colony off on coast but it was 20km on a tough dirt road so we didn't go there.

    Streaky Bay

    April 2, 2018 in Australia ⋅ ☁️ 10 °C

Stayed just one night at an RV park. Bit of a dust bowl but it served its purpose for the night. Onto to our next stop-Ceduna-before heading on the Nullabor. Quick stop at the Sheringa Roadhouse-very quirky and interesting. See photos below.Read more

    Car issues

    March 3, 2018 in Australia ⋅ 🌫 0 °C

We went out to see Australias only mainland sea lion colony which was amazing! On the way back we pulled over and I walked out to the middle of a salt late and found this memorial for a farmer that was killed by natives in 1850, quite eerie but cool!
It looks like we are stuck in Streaky Bay until at least Wednesday now as Max's car is leaking diesel and it's gotta go to the mechanics on Tuesday. We couldn't stay on our caravan spot as someone has booked our particular site 😳 so we've moved 2 spots over, had to take down annex, hook car up etc and move this morning but we think this is a better spot anyway!

    Ellistan and Streaky Bay

    March 1, 2018 in Australia ⋅ ⛅ 23 °C

We did a massive day in the car (11 hours!!!) and went through the 'halfway across Australia' point and then spent 2 nights at a $10 ( honestly box) a night camp on the beach. A farmer came down with his horses in the mornings and we watched them galloping up the beach, he obviously saw Mav desperate to pat them and came down one afternoon and let the boys have a ride on the beach!
We've now been in streaky bay for a few nights, leaving Saturday for Ceduna. It was 38 degrees the other day...we found a secret beach and went skinny dipping in the middle of the day!
Currently at the skate park with the boys as max has gone surfing all day. Mav's schoolwork has gone missing again 🤦🏼‍♀️

Baird Bay sea lions and dolphins swim

    October 31, 2019 in Australia ⋅ ⛅ 25 °C

After finding out that we had to wait a number of days for a new condenser for our air conditioner to arrive at the Cummins Garage we went back out to the coast so I could do the Baird Bay Eco Experience. Dave wasn’t keen because these southern waters are freezing, so he stayed back and did the housework. 😉
It was a hot day but extremely windy, and overcast, even the skipper joked that we might have a “Gilligans Island” stranding.
A small group of 10 people, we were supplied with full length wet suits, snorkel and mask. A 15 minute boat ride had us at the sea lion hangout and they were soon in the water and playing all around us. They are super cute to watch with their big brown eyes and graceful ballet like movements. It was a magic experience.
After a couple of hours we moved across the bay to where the dolphins were swimming. This spot was much more exposed to the crappy weather and and we only had a very brief time swimming in and around them. These animals are so fast, there one second, gone the next. A brilliant morning, even with the 60kph wind tossing us around.

    Its so so hot

    March 9, 2018 in Australia ⋅ ⛅ 27 °C

O.M.G... its SO hot, 36 degrees yesterday, today and tomorrow. We still don't have the car and we can't swim out front of caravan park until late this afternoon ( super low tide ) 😭 I've had the worst headache for the past few days - the flies and mozzies are awful wahhhhh I know I shouldn't be whinging but I aaammmm. Have to ride to the skatepark to give the kids some exercise but I feel like I might vomit now we're here.Read more
