    C: Passages couvert de Paris

    March 17, 2018 in France ⋅ ☁️ 2 °C

Discovered some of Paris's covered passages today because it was snowing. These are great to just stroll through and enjoy a little window shopping. My nieces would very much enjoy Passage Jouffroy.

Also saw some real Hogwarts like shit. Some kind of taxidermied dog/coyote with bird of prey wings. Somehow seemed to fit in.Read more

    Dubai to Paris

    August 29, 2019 in France ⋅ ☁️ 20 °C

A little more exploring of the Dubai mall, and visiting the aquarium again, filled the last bit of the morning before we flew out to Paris. 7hrs later we landed and were driven crazily through the streets of Paris to our Hotel the Ronceray Opera, a quaint little place.

    Streetside Dining

    November 6, 2017 in France ⋅ ⛅ 10 °C

These open air dining areas are all over the streets of Paris. We have some of these in New York City but nowhere near as much as they have here. I've never eaten out on the streets like this before but I've always been curious about it. I'm hoping that I get to try it on this trip. It looks like it would be fun!Read more

    Open Air Dining

    November 6, 2017 in France ⋅ ⛅ 10 °C

More tables and chairs outside! It's as if every restaurant and cafe features outdoor dining. It's a good thing that the sidewalks are wider here than they are back home so they can accommodate this. I wonder if the restaurants have to pay extra money to the city for using the sidewalks as part of their restaurants? I really like the idea of eating this way. I want us to do it!Read more

    Croissants!

    November 6, 2017 in France ⋅ ⛅ 10 °C

We finally found real French croissants! These were in the window of Le Croissant, a small pastry shop that looks kind of like the French version of Dunkin Donuts. It's too bad that we filled up on pizza at Pizza Hut because I would have been happy to have these for dinner! We decided to come back another time to enjoy these, hopefully earlier in the day when the croissants are nice and fresh!Read more

    One of Many

    November 6, 2017 in France ⋅ ⛅ 10 °C

These newsstands are on nearly every corner, at least in the very small part of Paris that we've seen so far. These stands seem very well stocked, selling much more than just newspapers and magazines. They also sell candy, drinks, and a big selection of French souvenirs. It's one-stop shopping at it's finest!Read more

    Details

    November 6, 2017 in France ⋅ ⛅ 10 °C

Architectural details like this are all over Paris. I'm loving the older details, like this, mixed in with the modern city of Paris. This is a look at a door on the streets of Paris. Most of them are not this elaborate but nearly every door here has a round knob, or handle, in the exact center of the door. I thought that this was kind of strange. If the knob is in the center of the door, you need to put forth a lot more energy to open it. I think, with the door knob on the side, you are able to have much more leverage. I guess the centered knobs work for them but it's a bit off to me. It reminds me of the Hobbit doors in Lord of the Rings. Their door knobs are centered also.Read more

De Clercq, les Rois de la Frite

    November 6, 2017 in France ⋅ ⛅ 9 °C

I love french fries and the Belgian frites style of fries are the best! This place is right across the street from our hotel. I'm definitely going to be eating here at least once while we're here. We're certainly not going to go hungry while we're here in Paris!

    Passage Jouffroy

    November 6, 2017 in France ⋅ 🌙 7 °C

Since it was built in 1836, Passage Jouffroy has been one of the most visited covered arcades in the capital. Situated on the Grands Boulevards and in the continuation of Passage des Panoramas, it owes its charm to its beautiful iron and glass architecture (the ogive glass roof immediately catches the eye) and its marble paving, renovated in 1987.Read more

    Alleyway Shopping

    November 6, 2017 in France ⋅ 🌙 7 °C

Passage Jouffroy is such an interesting and beautiful place. This place looks so European! We don't have anything like this because in New York. Everything seems to be closed right now but I'd like to come back sometime during the day and see what some of these shops have to offer.
