Woke at 5:30 for our 6:29 train.
Both walking zombies.
We arrived in Munich at 8am.
We couldn't, however, check in until 2pm 😂😭😭😭😭 the worst omg.
HOWEVER luck was on our side for once and it turns out this wonderful hostel had a big ass couch with our names on it. We dumped our stuff in storage then slept on the couch until 1pm. Then waited until 2.
Housekeeping hadn't even been through which is the whole reason we couldnt check in earlier.... 😪
anyway we went for a walk and got some lunch.
We then Went walking through all the Christmas markets.
Haven't seen a mug I MUST have yet.
The town hall (I think that what it is) is lovely and reminded me of Brussels.
We just walked aimlessly and looked at stuff. We ended up in an awesome old courtyard attached to what looked like a church. Don't think it is though 🤔
Saw another dude dressed as Santa.
I had a good chuckle. Some guy gave a homeless man a beer and his reaction was the best. He was so pleased and suprised.
He walked past him and did a lap of some fresh food section and passed him again. It was already open haha
Went home and I looked at what there is to do in Munich.
Germany as a country has the worst wifi and NO free portals. Stingy bastards.
We met our room roommate but she is leaving tomorrow so won't be spending Christmas with her. Not upset by that - her English was terrible lol
I got a Sad tummy so I just rested for an hour.
We went out to Dinner and are back now and it reading while Will watched a movie.
It's now Christmas Eve 🤗
Would be far more exciting if we had present to open but still, yay!
Keen to talk to mum and dad in the morning.Baca lagi

Pretty happy to leave creepy guy WHO GOT UP IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT TO WEE AND ON HIS WAY BACK JUST STOOD THERE IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROOM AND STARED AT THE 2 GIRLS SLEEPING.
Bus left at 8:15am.
We were there at 7:45 and stood in the rain for a half hour because there was no shelter 😒
I wanted to sleep so badly but couldn't. No where for my head to go.
When we arrived In Nuremberg we had a 4 hour wait until we could access our room so we dumped our stuff and headed to the Palace of Justice which is where they held the Nuremberg trails for the nazi war criminals.
We had a tiff out side because Will didn't want to go in because "it's just a courtroom" 😖😖😤
Why did we just walk 3km there then?
Anyway we came to a decision I was allowed 20 mins inside.
I think it's such an important place in history so I was excited.
It cost 6€ to enter so I said he could wait for me if he didn't want to pay but he came in too.
Level 2 is courtroom 600 where the war criminals all stood trial. We had an audio guide that explained the changes the room had gone through since then and what it was like at the time.
Level 3 was an exhibition it had a lot of writing I had to skip because of Mr cranky pants but it has a section that listed the 22 (I think) on trial - their role, charges and punishment.
It also had the original bench on which they sat.
We left. We went and had Thai food for lunch then walked home.
It's a really nice place. It has a charm to it. Especially one you enter the city gate.
We entered the wall and just walked around and came across a PETTING ZOO and it had a CAMEL 🤗🤗🤗
Ok so the camel may have bitten my arm but apart from that we are best friends. It didn't hurt, it wasn't an attack he just thought I had food like other people did hhaha
She was a whopper! There were other animals but next to a camel they were boring lol
It was the 2 hump kind.
Walked home and just chilled out an enjoyed having wifi!
Nap time again - hahah then off we went to dinner and the Christmas markets.
Tonight, we saw our first live Santa Claus . About time.
I got a chocolate covered strawberries. yesssss 🤤🙌🏼
Home again.
Train is at 6:30am tomorrow 😓
Skyped Jess and Jaxon. They are up in Ingham. grandma is so cute. She got handed the phone and said oh aren't they beautiful and was so taken aback when we started talking her. She thought it was a photo 😂
Jaxon is getting so big! He has learnt "no" hahahaBaca lagi

Seriously the people in our room are weird.
One of the African dudes got up at like 2am and watched a video then went back to his bed but was like rocking and praying/chanting in some language...
I made a point to try remember his facial features so I could tell the police when there was a car/truck attack tomorrow.
Isn't that bad. 😶
Old creepy guy that stares and does wear his shirt hasn't put his phone on silent so it's so damn loud DING DING BING BONG
I'm so glad I have Will. He is soooo unsubtle and Just stares at the 2 other girls in our room.
So it turns out Frankfurt has literally nothing to do.
We went for a walk to town hall.
Naturally it was under construction 😂
Nice enough building but that was all there was to see..
We walked through some markets and Will got a crepe - he has been wanting one for days but the line is always long and it takes a while to make one.
I got a sausage.
We went back home.
Walked through the sex area and saw the most obvious drug deals taking place.
It was comical. 6 people standing around 1 guy with there hands out exchanging money for small packages things... like c'mon guys... If you're gonna do it then hide it better.
Will took us the long way home. It really is a nice city. Just boring. Probably good to live in though.
We looked to see if there was a movie theatre showing things in English.
👍🏼👍🏼 cha-Ching.
We walked to the cinema and got in line. We were 45 mins early but lucky we were because the service was a joke. It took 50 to get our tickets.
I wanted to see Star Wars but Will was insistent on Jumanji *
I actually enjoyed it more than I thought I would.
It has moments of complete ridiculousness.
Particularly the opening scene where the board game suddenly produces a Nintendo game?
So weird people of the day go to a tap dancing man on the street, a man passed out over/against a fence/barrier and a man in line at the movies you was either special or had some physical form of terrets or something because he kept stamping then screwing up his face. He was so stressed and then chilled and then stressed and then chilled..
This place is FULL of weirdos.
Back home and in bed. Nothing else to report really. Movie was the highlight of my day by far.
The weird man did a fart and Will started laughing and so then I started laughing.
FYI Angharad, you have the best parents in the entire world.Baca lagi

Safely returned my key this morning - phew!
And off we went to the station. We didn't have much waiting to do this morning which was really appreciated because we were both tired - we basically just got straight on the train.
The country of Germany simply does not do free wifi.
No fast food chain, no public transport - it's annoying! I need to check the map! 😑
It took 2.5hrs to get to Frankfurt. The Train was delayed by 15mins.
Germany is meant to have the most anal system and a 1 minute delay is supposedly unheard of. Ha! So many have been late.
The one before us was also late.
Arrived in Frankfurt and our hostel was only 100m from the station woohoo!
Check in went fine.
Ermmm like 40% of guests are African which is a little weird.
And then there is like 3 babies and old people?
There is 60 year old man in our room who is really weird and breaths really loudly.
2 seedy African men than are a bit suspicious too. Really unfriendly.
We went for a quick walk around town. I think I like it more than cologne though we haven't seen much.
It's quite modern but has more green.
Came back home. We mayyyy have gotten some donuts on the way 🤗
We had a nap.
There is a free pasta dinner in the hostel we put our name down for. It was actually really nice.
Back to bed.
Tomorrow is explore day.
There is currently a man singing in the corridor.
He isn't very good..
I was perfectly fine in my bed for the past 3 hours reading but now I've decided to sleep I'm unbearably hot.
I've taken my pants off even though creepy man is in his bed. It's dark so hopefully he can't see lol
Reflection time cause I am too hot to sleep.
I like Germany overall but Berlin is the clear winner so far. I think it's probably one of the easier languages to learn because their words sound different to each other. They are really ugly but clearly distinguishable. Italian and Frenchis like one giant word.
I am ready to come home I think.
Still going to stay to the end but if we left for home tomorrow I wouldn't be that disappointed. Everything is starting to look to same and we are just really really really tired. The days are feeling longer which is silly because daylight is significantly shorter. I think it's probably because we have seen 1000 churches so there is now less MUST SEES in each city.
Still really enjoying ourselves but the awe is gone.
Sick of living out of a backpack too lol
But I was saying to Will I am soooo happy with the type of bag we bought because the ones you have to stuff everything in from the top hole would have sent me crazy by now.
Don't want to go back to work though soooo hahahahah 😅
I am apprehensive about the snow because I am convinced Will is going to hurt his knee.
I miss my cat.
When I get home I am going to need a week by myself.
No Will, no moving around, just me and my own thoughts, in a private den. With Thaddeus of course..
God I miss tv.
I want a criminal minds marathon.
I have prepared a list of foods I want as soon as I'm home:
Cod loaf spinach dip made by Helen
Chicken pesto pizza from crust
West ryde pub schnitzel and gravy
Chinese food - any
Mi-go-reng *
Avocado stack from coffee emporium
Hurricane ribs
Snack pack - west Ryde kebab store
Mcdonalds gravy chips
Cinnamon donuts from donut king
Twisties/burger rings
Normal orange Fanta
Chicken avocado wrap from lewrap
Dads skillful creation of chicken 2 minute noodles
My own chicken cashew nut stir fry
El Paso taco pack
There is more I'm sure. My list is relatively new.
Germany is country 28 on this trip and I believe 37 in my life. Good job me lol.
We brainstormed at dinner the other day what our favourite places have been..
It's hard to say because I know I LOVED Macedonia but because it was so long ago I can't accurately compare it to more recent countries
Our top 5 went like this though
In no order..
Harry:
Belgium
Macedonia
Bosnia
Bulgaria
Romania
I also really like Denmark and Latvia.
Will:
Italy
Belgium
Bulgaria
Macedonia
Moldova
He also liked Norway
But that's just our countries as wholes.
See cause I lovedddddddd the hikes in Norway but disliked Oslo.
I think I loved Denmark because of the deer park 😂
Estonia what I saw I also loved. TALLINN😍
But maybe we didn't see enough for me to confidently add it to the list 🤔

Met in foyer.
Will had Currywurst for breakfast and I had donuts hahah
God I love donuts.
We saw the big cathedral which was nice. We went inside too. Lots of columns and beautiful stain glass.
It's another old gothic style. I've seen heaps but I still dont understand how they build them.
Will got a coffee cause he was a grumpy Gus and then we went to the cologne house - where cologne was invented. They still sell the original scent.
I actually really enjoyed it because when we walked in a shop worker told us all about the history without actually trying to sell us anything.
Some really cool people have bought it such as Napoleon, Princess Diana, Oscar Wilde, Bill Clinton etc.
Apparently it was some dude from Italy who wanted a citrus smell that reminded him of home.
Will didn't like it too much because it wasn't artificial enough for his liking lol.
We gave away so much money today. The homeless are killing me. They look so depressed and rightfully so.
One man looked so down - I gave him a euro and said merry Christmas and he was so damn excited I still want to cry about it.
TAKE ALL MY MONEY 😭😭
He had this little pathetic Santa doll set up too.
Bless him, lord.
As we were walking a man fell down the stairs at an entrance to a train station.
I didn't see him fall but I saw his feet go up as he went down backwards. He could easily have died. I was expecting to see his unconscious form at the bottom. It was really scary. everyone rushed over but by some miracle he was still conscious. I'm pretty sure the shop keeper was calling an ambulance as we left.
Seriously though, he should have died.
We went to see town hall but there was a wedding on. The outside was still nice.
We walked through some Christmas markets. They aren't as magical during the day.
Cologne reminds me a little of Amsterdam. It's just long strips of shops. It's less touristy than Amsterdam but still a shopping district.
We finally bought another charge point - I left the last one in Turkey - because it's difficult being in different rooms.
We went home and did a load of laundry. It took 2 hours . we just hung out in the laundry room lol.
We asked reception which Christmas markets to go to - but first - dinner 🤗
I bloody love Hard Rock Cafe lol.
New birthday resturant choice for sure.
Went to 2 Christmas markets. It was the busiest we went to. We can see how if a truck when through the crowd people wouldn't be able to move out of the way. It was so hard to move.
One had a massive Christmas tree with lights spilling off it.
I don't know what ice game they are playing but it's like lawn bowls I think and we have seen a few people play it in places. This market had several lanes for people to Play in.
We then went to Colognes version of love lock bridge.
Easy 100,000+ lock are attached to this bridge.
If it weren't so expensive to replace I would have attached mine too haha
I don't know why I enjoyed it so much but I really did.
The cathedral looked really spooky tonight because it was so misty.
So,
Big mumma gave me another show today except this was so much worse.
I walked into the room and then into the shower and BAM there she was with a leg up on a stool (legs In the presentation position) , giving herself a scrub down.
OW MY EYES.
Shut the damn door woman!
In the picture of the bridge you can see all the locks run along the bottom. So many!Baca lagi

Old mates snoring was out of this world.
I had a massive head ache so I really wanted to shoot him.
He left at 5am though so I got 5 hours of peace.
Packed and left.
It was snowing again as we walked :) little white balls 🤗
We had to get a train to central. Again, couldn't figure our the damn ticket machines. I thought it would be more straight forward this time because it was to central. but no.
Got off and sat in Burger King. We were 2 hours early. Saaaa cold 😩
On the train. Now it's too hot 😓😓😓
It's a 7.5hr journey.
Neither of us have successfully slept this time. Well maybe me for 20 mins but there just isn't enough room.
We currently have 1.5 hours to go. Will is bored out of his mind. Hahah
Man, that took forever lol.
Made itttt. (cologne)
Our hostel was close and really easy to find so that was terrific but at check they said a lot of things I didn't like.
Firstly if we lose a key it's 60€ penalty.
WHAT. I appreciate they have to cover the cost of a replacement and deserve some money for the inconvenience but 60€?!?! Get stuffed.
I'm stressed about it because we are in different dorms so I have to look after my key and I'm not very good with them. 😩
There is also no wifi in the rooms and you have to log back on every hour. Highly inconvenient because I wanted to plan what we are doing tomorrow. There is only like 2 tables In the Reception area where the wifi works and they are all taken.
The wifi thing has already caused us dramas because we can't contact each other.
We planned to meet back outside In 10 mins but Will then decided to take a shower so he messaged me because he had a small amount of signal but I had none so I didn't get it then spent 20 minutes running round the hostel trying to find him thinking he might have thought we were meeting somewhere else.
We went out for dinner then came home.
Opened the door to my room and omg.
The biggest black mumma took her towel off, standing their completely nude. Completely unashamed.
She is not a small person.
All I can say is wow.
I saw thing.

We had a pee date around 5am (who said romance was dead?) because our roommates left and woke us up so off we went. I had a little trouble getting back down after that but I soldiered on 💪🏻lol
We left around midday.
It was proper snowing 😍😍😍👍🏼👍🏼😍😍😍😍😍😍 not heavily but cars were covered in ice and I could catch it. SO EXCITING.
We walked in to the old town section. Saw the church 'Frauenkirche' - it's the symbol of Dresden. It was destroyed in ww2 but the world donated over 100million and it was rebuilt.
We saw the Goldener Reiter statue. Nothing overly exciting. It's meant to be on the bridge but it was too heavy to move apparently lol they obviously could move it now with today's advances but haven't.
We saw the Fürstenzug - a big ass tile artwork. It claims to be one of the biggest mosaics in the world... only I wouldn't classify it as a mosaic. The tiles are too big lol.
We walked through heaps of different Christmas markets. maybe 5.
I was scouting for mugs. Hahaha
I got a cinnamon wrap thing for breakfast and Will for more currywurst.
We ended up at the Striezelmarkt - it's Germany's oldest Christmas market. This year is the 583rd annual event.
It was so jolly. Even though it was daytime so you couldn't see the lights and stuff I really enjoyed it. Every shop had such huge displays on their roofs. A lot were animated too. I LOVE CHRISTMAS.
I thought this would be a good market to get a mug at so I bought a glühwein (hot wine) and drank it. It's definitely going to be my drink of choice on Christmas eve. Hahaha
My mug said 2015 not 2017 though so I returned it. can't have a mug with a lie.
We finally bought scarfs. OUTRAGEOUSLY PRICED. But we finally found some for under 20€ each so we got one 2. Not as thick as I would like but they are going to have to do.
I got a picture on a display balcony thing with the 583 on it. Yay!
It stated to snow again when we were drinking the wine. 😍
We saw a cute band play today. All on different horns and in traditional coat stuff. They looked very snug.
We gave away a lot of money today. Well not a lot but 1€ to 5 or so people.
They just looked cold and sad. One man was rocking In His sleeping bag. It didn't look like a drug rock but more like a im bloody freezing rock.
And hey, it's Christmas!
Went home and rested until we went out to dinner. We went back to the beer house chain Will loved. He had two more beers. I have made a good deal I think - for what he spends on beers in Germany from now is how much I get to spend at the Christmas markets 😁😁😁
I have a headache at the moment and our new dorm friend is a snorer. He did at least bother to warn us 😒Baca lagi

Practically rolled out of bed and off we went.
We had to get the metro 19 stops so that took a little while.
We found where we needed to be easily enough - we had excess time so that helped.
Went on an adventure looking for a toilet.
Got on the bus - ride was 2.5hrs.
I slept hahha
Will didint cause he couldn't fit.
We didn't feel like walking in the freezing cold so we caught a train to the hostel. I had to go to the ticket desk and not use the self serve because even though I tried 3 different words our station wouldn't come up.
Only 2 euro each so pretty happy about that
When we got to the hostel THERE WAS A DOG IN THE FOYER. I dropped my stuff and sat on the floor with him. Will was embarrassed hahahah
The hostel is pretty old looking but the common room looks cosy.
Our interactions with the 2 others in our dorm was awkward. It was like they were surprised that someone was In their room. The girl came in said hi, grabbed something and left then 2 minutes later the guy opened the door, saw us then shut it again... lol
Ok.
The girl looked very un hostel-y. More a 5 star resort type.
We planned our day for tomorrow then went out for food. we got Indian.
Went to the supermarket on the way home for snacks then chilled In the common room for about an hour. No one was there so we are now back upstairs.
I went to town on a review for the Pompeii house. They aren't impressed but I didn't lie so eh.
They also reviewed us back and called me a boy lol.
Bnb website has a good rule where you have to review each other first before you can see what the other person said so your review isn't swayed by why they said.
They were nice about us. I doubt they would be now. Lol
There was an Awesome Christmas tree at the station.
Our hostel room is very hot.
Oh and FYI We are in Dresden lol.Baca lagi

So we made the decision to send our sleeping bags home even though in reality, if we were ever going to need them, it would be the winter period coming up. But, we have no room for things and removing this one item frees up a good third of my bag.
I stuffed the Rakia bottle in too so it was padded and also took Jess' coat she gave me to the post office as well.
Good gracious the line was huge! We wasted a lot of time trying to figure out what the hell to do. We didn't know if we were allowed to use the boxes without first paying for it but we decided to go ahead - no one yelled at us.
I thought there was communal tape because there was 3 rolls so I picked one up to use but it was the ladies next to me but she let me borrow. She also helped us get a form for international deliveries.
We waited maybe 40 minutes In line before we got called.
We got a lady who couldn't speak a lick of English 😅 she was really friendly though. She read Australia and it was like she couldn't believe it. She kept muttering 'Australia ... austaalai.... AUSTRALIA' all she needed to add was a slap to the forehead to add to her disbelief and shock.
Communication was so hard.
I don't know if we payed for it or not but she got us a bigger box and put everything into the one box to save us money. The first 2 boxes would have been unusable but I still don't think she charged us 🤔
60 something euro 😒😒
Whatever - they are on their way to aus! It was so freeing to get shit sorted lol.
We then went to have a burrito but we used all our cash at the post so we couldn't - it became our dinner plans.
We walked to a decathlon store so buy ourselves one more set of thermals. I only bought a shirt because I dont think I need pants but Will definitely needed more.
We have been trying to find scarfs but can only find $80 or shitty silk ones.
We went home and chilled out. It was really crappy weather today.
I reorganized my pack which was great - so much room now. 🤗
I had my daily nap but Will woke me up after an hour cause he is a poo head.
I was then super organized and booked our transport to Prague, Bratislava, Budapest and Vienna. Also booked a Bnb In Budapest and hostel in Vienna.
I Tried to organise a train to the snow but their website is next level confusing.
We are planning to go from Vienna to Graz to stay with Vicky (girl we met in Marrakech) for a night before heading to the snow so I've asked If she could also help us with that
We then went out for our burrito.

Firstly, HAPPY BIRTHDAY MUM.
Secondly, We hearded back to checkpoint Charlie in the morning to have a look around a bit more thoroughly.
There is annoying tag in my shirt that was driving me up the wall that I will have to chop off later.
It is so freaking hard to itch when you are wearing winter clothes.
We walked through the book burning square to reach it.
We ate on the American side before going and reading some info that was in some walls.
There are guards in the middle.
The info was almost too much. I found the photos more interesting. I did like the info on individual people and there experience with the wall - i.e. If they escaped or got shot trying.
There was another wall section in that little area so I got a photo with it :)
We then walked over to the bigger section of the wall, walked along it and then went to the topography of terror museum. The Secret service SS Police force headquarters. Free entry woot.
I suddenly felt as if I had pulled a muscle In my side and it really hurt to stand. It was very strange. I had to have several breaks when walking up and down reading the info.
It basically had tonnes of photos and explanations of each. It showed photos of the high ranking nazis, victims, propaganda etc.
the photos were really interesting - I only read the writing for the photos that really caught my eye because there was just too much.
Will got bored quickly because mr smarty pants already knew everything.
Despite his insistence I am sure if he actually bothers to read he would have learnt SOMETHING lol
We went back through the block memorial and over to parliament. Apparently we need an appointment to visit the dome which I did about 10 mins ago and we will see if we are accepted. Not fussed if denied because it would be at 8am... lol
It's a lovely building though.
We also walked through a park on the way. Very dead looking lol.
We got hot chocolates which really helped warm us an then we walked home.
I had a shower and then I fell asleep 😂😂😂
I write this everyday hahaha
We went out to dinner and a proper german beer house. The atmosphere was incredible!
It was love music with the waiters in traditional dress and yum German food. Will got 2L of beer 😂😂😂
When the band played a well known song and locals joined in that was awesome.
I had meatballs and Will had sausages. We also got a pretzel 👌🏻
They replied - we got denied. They are full.

Today was so full I don't even know where to begin!
Ok so firstly, we obviously got up. Our free walking tour I popped our name down for yesterday started near the Brandenburg gate which was 3km away.
Bloooody colddddd!!
My face was freezing! *say in Scottish accent*
Even Will now wants to buy a scarf every though its super un-butch.
Right so we were running out of time and dunken donuts were the only pre made food available near our start point.
They were stale. Donut king is where it's at.
Our tour group was quite small - about 10 and our guide was Max. He is from New York but married a German.
So first talking point was the Brandenburg gate. It is the symbol of Berlin. He was an interesting guide as he didnt just state facts but rather talked about the symbolism and what the monument actually means to the Germans.
It has changed meaning through time.
So many important significant players have walked through it. Originally the middle slit was reserved for the King alone.
Napolian and Hitler later walked through it. Again, symbolism.
The horses and person dude on top was at one time taken by France. They took it back and it now stares at the French embassy haha
He talked about german history from all their different wars from when the gate was built to the complete shitstorm they got themselves into. What daily life was like after WW1 and very briefly how Hitler came into power.
The gate is a symbol of strength. The entire city destroyed but it remained standing.
We walked through the gate and stopped on the other side. He showed us parliament. It has a glass dome on top where anyone cane go watch the parliament working.
a symbol to say we don't have any secrets. They are trying to recover from their past.
We then went to the Memorial to the murdered Jews of Europe. It took over 15 years for them to decided what to build. Nothing they could build would be worthy and yet to build nothing was worse.
It's 300 odd grey concrete blocks.
It's actually very powerful.
There is no signage on purpose. They didn't want to tell you what to think and feel as you interact with it.
We walked through it. It is designed so the gaps are wide enough you don't feel trapped but small enough that you can't walk through side by side. You must walk through alone with your own thoughts.
As you walk in the blocks get taller and taller and unever.
It's like a maze of grey doom.
I actually really like it but the city has mixed thoughts.
But in reality, like what our guide said - nothing will be good enough to symbolically represent what happened and the horror.
Some girls was doing a photo shoot on them which I though was pretty gross.
I take a lot of pictures but this was not the spot to get your new dp at.
We then went to a car park. Underneath is Hitler's bunker and if the recorded history is the correct one then it's also the location where he shot himself.
They didn't know what to do with the space. They didn't destroy it, it's still underneath but they are not ready as a country to do anything with it at the moment.
But they could.
There is a small sign that was put In for tourists when the World Cup was on. People don't it.
If he died here then it's important. A sign is needed.
We then went to the only nazi head quarter building not destroyed.
It was originally thought they just missed it but it's come to light it was left intentionally because there was info inside they wanted. Nuclear plans or something I can't remember 🤔
It was the Air Force base.
After ww2 the socialist party moved right in and its where the east Berlin stuff was founded.
It's still standing because the west wanted to knock it down and even though the east also dislike it they said out of spite no you are doing it as an attack on the east and not on the nazis.
So it remains standing and is now the tax office lol.
You can see on the front door where swastikas were removed.
We then stopped in at a cafe for a 15 min break.
Will sampled a beer. He didnt rate it.
We saw a remaining section of the Berlin Wall. There is a line that carries on on the floor to show where it was.
The wall was way way thinner than I thought it was.
We then went to checkpoint Charlie. Nothing there is original but in that location a lot of stuff happened.
Classic Cold War stand off between Russia and America because some bloke wanted to go to the opera on the east and he should have been allowed across because he was from west Germany.
A McDonald and KFC rightful sit at the American crossing side. Hahah
We then went to a square with more Christmas markets that had some French religious building in it. He talked about how advanced Germany was in different aspects of tolerance towards other and how if you had to guess which European city would be responsible for ww2. No one would have picked Berlin. He said it seems an obvious choice now but back then no one would have picked it.
We then Finished our tour in a square with 4 buildings.
1 was the the opera house. The first public opera house where people and not just royals were able to go. The same opera house that the dude at checkpoint Charlie was trying to go to.
Next was a big religious building. It was important because of more reasons about being tolerant...
I was listening, promise.
Next was a big public library which was used to educate everyone and not just the upper class and lastly was the university which is where Einstein taught.
In the middle of the square is where the nazis burned the 20,000 books.
There is a memorial in the floor.
You go up to it and the floor is transparent and you look down into book shelves that would have accommodated the 20,000 books.
A genuinely Fantastic tour.
Probably the best speaker we have had. Or it could be that it's just such a fascinating city. I can't believe how much I enjoyed it and want to learn more about germanys past.
I kept thinking the whole time that dad would bloody love this.
Not sure if he had ever been but he needs to.
Captain history buff.
The traffic lights are from the communist times too so they are pretty cute and funny. A lot of souvenir stuff have it printed on them.
There is this big church in the middle of the city that is beautiful. It's blackened at the top which Will made a comment that he thinks it would look better if they cleaned it but I disagree. I think it adds legitimacy to it.
It looks as if it's been burnt... we have learnt this trip that every city has had "a great fire" lol maybe Berlin too? Lol
Hamish and Andy did a gap year episode and ate a hot sausage and so naturally Will wanted to try. The shop they went to is closed so we went to a different one. It wasn't as hot as he would have liked but he still really enjoyed it.
We were tired so we walked home.
We had some food in the lobby and eventually ventured out to the Christmas markets but we learnt yesterday to bring our gloves!
OH BUT BEFORE WE LEFT I BOUGHT STAMPS IN THE LOBBY AND FINALLY SENT THOSE DAMN POSTCARDS. 🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼
We went to the one from yesterday but eventually ventured on to the one we walked past on tour. We were told it's a rare one with an entry fee but worth it - only 1 euro anyway.
The line was big but moved quickly - stocked because we even got entry tickets so I can staple them in my book.
I know it's statistically less likely for a woman to lead an attack but only Will got patted down when entering the market which I think it a lapse in security but whatever.
We stopped in at the first store to get some feuerzangenbowle. It's like hot wine but not the famous type we though it was 🤔🤔 still, a very german drink.
You had to pay a 2.5€ deposit for your mug. We decided to only return one.
😝😝😝
AND THEN MAGIC HAPPENED. As we were freezing, sipping on our hot wine it started to SNOW ❄️🤗🤗
I was so giddy with excitement.
It was only the ice snow BUT STILL!
I have never seen it fall from the sky before.
We walked around and found a live carol performance which was just so jolly. They had the books in front of then and everything.
Magic 💫💫💫💫
We walked home through market number 3 and bought a sausages.
Well done Germany. 👏🏼👏🏼
We are both really, really REALLY impressed with Berlin.
It is so much cleaner and more spacious/open than I expected.
Love it tbqh.Baca lagi

Neither of us slept. 3am and the alarm went off 😭😭😭 our transfer was 10 mins early so we left at 3:35.
In classic Italian style he sped the whole way and was on his phone.
Anxiety overload.
I'm so annoyed by this whole experience I will also be adding that in the review. You don't go 130 in an 80 zone.
we made it alive. Phew. But everything was shut.
We were eventually allowed to check in and we didn't have a problem this time! I was just waiting to get in trouble for not including middle names again..
they also sent our bags straight through to Berlin which I wasn't sure if they were going to do because of some weird wording on the booking.
But all went well.
One store opened and 50 people appeared out of nowhere! It was crazy.
I was so disappointed my donut had jam in it lol.
We went through to our gate.
I got through the bag check with an entire bottle of water I forgot about and didn't even get out of my bag.
Big dodge.
Got on the plane and it was the smallest seats we have ever incounted.
I am 163 and I was almost too tall. My knees were touching the back of the seat in front.
Will was rightfully foul.
Everyone was sitting diagonally.
We had to only fly for 50 mins to get to Rome which he said he could do but if the second plane was the same he would have to swap.
Flight was uneventful. Our captain was reallllly young looking.
On our decent we flew through cloud the whole time. It was a bit stressful not being able to see the floor.
All was well.
I seriously don't know where my dislike of flying has come from.
We got off and were actually pretty pleased that our next plane was delayed by 35 mins. It gave them extra time to ensure our bags made the next flight.
Will felt sick because the plane kept doing funny tummy drops cause of the wind outside so he got a sausage mcmuffin.
We waited for our next plane then got called to board.
2 dogs were on our flight 😁😁😁😁
This flight was great. We fit. And it wasn't a full flight so it was less claustrophobic. We both slept the entire way. I couldn't believe we were already landing. It was about a 2 hour flight I think.
I left my beanie on the plane which I realised when I walked outside and my head instantly turned into ice.
I went back and got it :)
That landing was also so windy that people clapped when we landed safely.
Hello Germany 👋🏻
I love the lack of customs 🤗 our bags made it woohoo so off we went.
We got an airport bus to Alexanderplatz which took about 30 mins and then walked to our hostel.
We couldn't check in until 2 so we had a 1.5hr wait. We hung out in the lobby and had some food. Goooood food.
they have a non alcoholic Pina Colada called nada colada which I found funny.
At 2 we went upstairs and had a 5 hour sleep ... lol
I GOT ASSIGNED A BOTTOM BUNK 😭😭😭😭 I am so pleased.
We went next to each other but I so don't care lol. Our beds have USB power outlets so we don't need to share the adapter either.
When we woke up we went out to the Christmas markets.
The first one as nice. I bought a chocolate apple because I thought it was a bizarre combo. The Apple was mushy but it was nice enough.
The next market was so much better. It was magical 🎅🏽🎅🏽🎅🏽🎅🏽🎅🏽
The holly, decorations, shops, smell of delicious food and cold made it so wonderful. There was an ice rink in the middle that you had to skate around a statue. People were drinking smoking hot drinks and beers.
Everyone was cheerful and snug.
They had some rides and it was just a great vibe.
Today was just for looking but we are going back tomorrow to participate:)
Had dinner and went home.
Btw. New S club 3 song is a banger. 🙌🏼
It's all going towards Rainbow charity which is for life threatening and terminal children.Baca lagi

When we woke up I had a headache so I didn't actually get up up til around 6pm lol
Will went and got bread and we had sandwiches for dinner.
We watched some episodes of Rick and Morty and then began packing.
I have left my shoes which I'm sad about. I've grown quite attached.
Both bags are bursting at the seams because we managed to stuff everything else in.

This place is such a hole. As we were walking our 9kms to Pompeii we couldn't help notice the uncanny resemblance to Africa. It's just so gross here. It's dirty and ugly.
Not a single footpath on our walk either so we were dodging traffic the whole time.
Bleh.
We got to see Mt Vesuvius again. This time not in a moving car so much cooler. I like that the top is flat.
Having unreasonable anxiety that it's going to erupt while I'm here 😅
We walked through shit farms and then I heard this puppy crying/screaming and I looked over and a man was handling it.
He put it in a pen I think.
Will said that he was being nice and patting it but I think he was lying.
I have never wanted to shoot someone more.
He didn't hurt the dog then but the dog was terrified...
makes me shudder.
We have walked past the same dead dog the last 3 nights now. It's just in some abandoned property. Someone probably hit it and chucked it over the fence.
This place is so depressing.
More farms, more concrete blocks - still no sign of what id consider civilization..
Made it to Pompeii station.
Which is right next to Pompeii entrance.
Now, I had been previously led to believe that there wasnt much left. A few streets and that Pompeii had different museums to go to. I thought it had sections rebuilt. Kind of like how all the other cities are thriving but randomly have remains in them.
I was very wrong. It's like one, gigantic open air museum. entrance fee was 13€ which was more than reasonable.
Once we walked in we decided it was going to be to hard to navigate so we went in a building to get a map. Im happy we did because it had 3 of the plaster cast people and an awesome video + voice recording + 3D city displace that lit up when certain sections were being talked about.
We found the forum and basilica. It's all important but I learnt a lot about the forum in school so that was exciting for me.
We walked and walked and walked. It literally is an entire town. Soooo many buildings and ruins.
We found more plaster casts. The man praying/crying and the dog affect me far more than the others.
We walked In and out of so many buildings. I couldn't believe the access we had. Some idiots had carved there names in places 🤦🏼♀️🤦🏼♀️🤦🏼♀️ but why?!
Some of the temples and bath houses still had parts of mosaics and frescoes. It was have been beautiful.
I remember that bathing was a major topic of learning in school.
The city was so organised. Stuff being poor but if I was rich I could have lived here lol.
The houses were lovely. You could easily envision people walking around the courtyards and taking their baths.
Toileting wasn't a private affair either so there were some latrines.
We both tripped a good 10 times each. The path was so uneven.
There were 2 stray dogs chasing another stray dog and the other dog was so frightened I yelled at the first 2 to leave it alone. Lol they left. They came back but the scared dog had managed to get into a hiding hole.
They had educational bins. 3 sections
E.g. Metals section had info on metalwork and trade In Ancient Pompeii lol
We then found the theatre which you could go an sit in. Across from it was were the gladiators trained. It use to be something else but then there was an earthquake and it changed purposes.
The theatre obviously held tragic and comical plays.
A few displays of pots and things on our walk.
The rich people's houses were so nice. Very open planned living lol.
Then on to the gladiator stadium. This too we could enter and walk on the arena floor. A lot of the seating had been grown over with grass.
It was so awesome to imagine the gladiators.
We walked back towards the exit because it was getting gloomy.
It was so hard finding the damn exit lol.
We walked to the taxi stop because I could not deal with walking through the streets in the dark.
It took ages for a taxi to come but thankfully it came.
Fuck me. It cost FORTY EURO.
WHAT.
I had map loaded so I know he went the quickest way but the meter was ridiculous it went like this
8.33
8.43
8.53
9.76
Ermmmmmmm???????
Whatever we got home.
I was shattered and had another nap hahah
I'm getting so good at this.
We went for another damn pizza again because the supermarket was shut.
We watched the new pirates movie and now in bed.Baca lagi

I am going to start writing a list of things to talk about because I always draw a blank.
Woke up to A Skype call from Jess to show us Edgar 😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍
He snores.
We lounged about then headed to the shop which thankfully was open but had no organizations.
Oh I miss woolworths.
We came back and watched Cars on the tv. Big fan.
I then had a nap.
Went out to the pizza place again for dinner (only option 😂) we got a kilo pizza ✌🏼✌🏼✌🏼 for yesterday's 2 pizzas and today's mammoth one plus 2 bottles of Pepsi - only 19€
Winning.

Checked out at 10 and walked to the station. We ate at some cafe thing before finding our train.
4€ for the smallest blueberry muffin 😭
The station was total mayhem. People everrrrywhere.
We couldn't find an ATM either which was a little stressful because we had to pay cash on arrival - we left hoping there would be one in Naples.
About a 3 hour journey. I slept. Lol. we have so much crap. We need to send things home.
I fell down the stairs on the train. It really hurt. The person in front of me wasn't walking fast enough and I had so much weight behind me It pushed me down.
Hurt my pinkie finger and ankle.
I'm ok but.
When we arrived our transfer guy wasn't there.
Bother.
Remain calm, Angharad.
I found a wifi zone after a panic fueled run around and got told he would be 5 minutes late. Phew.
Gave us time to get money out.
Found the guy and he drove us to the house.
Holy hell this part of Italy is a wreck!
We saw mount Vesuvius so that was cool.
The apartment is nice but we have already had some major dramas here. Italy has 2 types of powerpoints the whole apartment only has the type we can't use.
Until we found the fridge had a secret one which ours fits into.
We went out for food because we were starving but every single shop was shut.
Not just food - EVERYTHING.
SO OVER EUROPE AND THEIR PUBLIC HOLIDAYS WHAT THE HELL.
Our hosts don't speak English or rather it's very minimal so it was so bloody difficult asking where we could eat.
We had to wait until 8pm.
STARVING.
I am so cranky about this place. It is not as advertised.
5 minutes to Pompeii is what it says.
Erm, it's 9km away and there is ZERO public transport. And again, hosts don't speak English.. can't ask for help..
I wanted to see Herculaneum too but alas, all tours leave from Naples and despite their advertisement they are nowhere near bloody Naples.
Our transfer here cost 40€ and the only way to get anywhere is to go back to Naples which we can't afford.
It's 27km away.
I AM SO CROSS.
We are just going to have to walk 9km to the museum-y part and get a taxi home - If there are any.
This place is a ghost town.
It's like after the eruption in 1944 they didn't bother rebuilding.
Super bummed.
I had an anger nap lol then we went to get a pizza at the only place open.
We tried to pay but they didn't have change and their card machine was just for show.. 🤦🏼♀️🤦🏼♀️🤦🏼♀️🤦🏼♀️🤦🏼♀️🤦🏼♀️
They let us leave without paying and we are to go back tomorrow.
THIS PLACE IS A SHITHOLE.
Pizza was really good though.
Oh another crappy thing - the shower had like a little of hot water before it becomes ice.
BOOOOOO
Jess got her puppy - his name is Edgar and he is beautiful.
More notes: S club 3 are releasing a song in 3 days (YAY)
And
On our colosseum tour we saw the fattest dog in the world. It was a sausage dog and its stomach actually touched the ground.
It wasn't pregnant. It had balls.

We left at 7:30 and walked to the colosseum. Found our guide and were set up with head sets. We were the youngest by a significant amount. Probably because most people had to take out a second mortgage just to take the tour.
Anyway,
We set off with our guide and entered, but once inside we stood around for maybe 30 minutes which was annoying - we were waiting for the official colosseum guide but it was all very disorganized. While we awkwardly waited our main guide did her best to fill the awkward silence.
I found a black cat but he didn't want pats. He took a nip hehehe
Wait wait wait.
Some dill on our tour bought a pram.
Mainly Aussies with us.
Our proper guide was great. She never stopped talking and told us some really cool stuff. We first went into the ground floor which was the stage. They have lost the stage over time.
The area would have been covered in sand in Latin the sand was called harena - see the connection 😏) it helped absorb the blood.
We entered through the gate that the losers left from. I didn't realise people got out of the arena alive. But it was also where the bodies went..
She showed up one of the reconstructed trapdoors in the floor.
When in use, entry to the colosseum was free.
Nero, after the big fire built himself a little palace type thing and after he killed himself the lake was drained and the colosseum built where the residence stood. All propaganda crap to say hey we are giving back to the people. Another reason why tickets were free.
It could fit 70,000 but be filled with in 15 minutes because of the 80 gates and organizational system.
It's now just the skeleton. So many things have been destoryed or stolen/lost.
It's full of holes because iron clamps were there inside making it earthquake proof but when abandoned they too were taken.
We then went to the underground section which was what I was most excited for and really why we paid so much but it was pretty dodge.
It essentially was just looking out at the middle from a different section, seeing how the trapdoor contraption worked from underneath and one corridor the gladiators used to enter the arena from. The tunnel leads the back the way to the gladiator barracks nearby which we saw later from a higher level.
We then went back up. Definitely disappointed with that part of the tour even though our guide was great.. there just wasn't much to see and nowhere to go.
Went back up to the second level and walked around the dome.
It is bloody spectacular.
110% gross and barbaric and yet it fascinates me so so much.
I do like that they could fight for freedom even though the chance was like a sturdy 1%
The animals fighting is also sad but I can just imaging the awe of the people who had never left Rome when they brought in an Elephant. It cost 2 million there money to import a singular animal.
Games were actually not that common because they were so expensive. They were used to gain popularity and and on other special occasions.
Politics really is as old as time.
Slaves were also very expensive so they actually all had a semi chance. They had 6 months training before being put in the arena. Their "owners" didn't want to lose money so they didn't just buy then chuck them in.
The corridor the gladiators walked down underneath was the most spine chilling. It was still In tact and the stone was the correct color - white. The outside has been dirtied from pollution.
We had a look at the arch of Constantine which is the newest arch in Rome and a symbol of victory over some bloke.
We left the colosseum and rejoined with our other guide.
We walked into the Roman forum. It was incredible and I recognized a balcony I stood on from school.
So essentially a crap tonne of ruins. It would have been truly marvelous.
We walked past where Julius Caesar was cremated /where his altar is. It's a giant rock. Possibly a comet. Research more aye.
There was plaque in Italian.
Moving on to the temple of the vestal virgins.
They had to remain pure for 30 years but were the only woman in Rome with rights. They actually had designated seating at the colosseum too.
They were not property which was a different concept back then.
If they had sex, they were buried alive. They have record of 20 woman who were.
There temple was nice. A few statues stop around. Our guide had a cool book such had now and before photos to show what it would have looked like.
We went up to a beautiful view point which really showed how much was there to see.
Rome and Egypt are definitely my favourite historic eras.
We then went up to Palatine hill.
Rome has 7 hills.
On Palantine hill in the palace of Domitican.
It was the official residence of royal emperors.
It's all ruins but in a few spots you can see the original coloring.
Our guide poured water occasionally to show us the real colour of the stone underneath. It didn't look overly dirty but the difference was incredible.
On the other side of the palace was the circus Maximus which is an old chariot racing stadium.
I have very clear memories of stopping to see this in school but had no clue what it was or significance.
I was actually thinking in my head I guess that oval wasn't important if it's not in this tour, Nek minute BAM. Haha
We wandered around the ruins and then said our goodbye to our guide.
I was bloody tired.
While it was a great tour the price tag didn't match the quality.
We went home and I had a mammoth sleep.
We went out to diner next door and they gave us free champagne which I'll always accept even though I don't like it lol.
We have packed and are ready for tomorrow.
Forgot to mentions:
Will got more bedbug bites at last hostel on his hand on the last day.
Will dropped the toothpaste in the toilet
Jess gets her puppy today and I am so excited.
There are so many damn scooters

So for some reason neither of us put on an alarm. First time that's happened lol
Luckily we got up just in time.
Or really a little too late to bother figuring out the train and/or metro. We decided to just get a taxi because there was no obvious direct route there.
Very pleased with our driver - he used the meter and took a direct route. It even came in €3 under the lowest estimated price.
12€ all up.
The most expensive part was waiting to get out of the damn taxi bay because it's at the station and person after person kept walking in front.
He dropped up pretty close - we had to just walk the straight line towards it.
So many annoying people trying to get you to book a tour I ALREADY HAVE A TICKET DAMN IT.
The annoying people did serve a purpose though - they directed us to the entrance which was a 10 minute walk from St. Peter's square which I didn't realize.
Once we found the entrance I had a memory flashback.
We paid an extra 4€ each to skip the line which turns out to have been a complete waste.
Not a single person in front of us. We walked straight in 😪
In summer the line was ridiculous so I guess better safe than sorry.
We went through security checks, collected our hard copy ticket and entered country number 27✌🏼
Signage was crap - no idea where to go - we ended up in an Egyptian artifacts room. We skimmed a lot of it but there was a exposed mummy body so that was cool. I also liked the statues because they different from European ones.
I found it interesting that they talked of other gods. I know it's a museum but it still is the Vatican.
Cool thought.
Essentially the museum was just a shit tonne of statues.
There was a corridor though which I want to have a sleepover in.
I just want to put a mattress on the floor and look at the ceiling for hours. It was beautiful 😭😭😭 the corridor also had maps lining the walls.
Once again a roof was my favourite part.
We walked and walked and walked through rooms until we finally got to the Sistine chapel.
I'll be straight to it. Not even slightly as nice as the corridor. Still cool to see. Took another illegal photo like I did last time.
Will was surprised by it. He thought the finger touchy bit was the whole thing and that it was going to be really big and in a dome.
Nope.
It's just not as detailed as some. Still obviously fantastic but it was like half the lines were smudged.
The room was very crowded.
We walked through more corridors holding stuff from jewelry, old globes to what I think was a sewing machine.
We were hungry so we left and went and got food. To enter straight through to St. Paul's basilica you had to be part of a tour and as we weren't that meant we had to join the line outside boo.
But first, food.
Wills was delicious except for the fragment of glass he spat out....
lol
Joined the line and it took maybe 30 mins to reach security.
Honestly, you would think 99%+ people visiting would have been through and airport before. And yet every second person had to go through the gate 3+ times.
TAKE YOUR COINS OUT OF YOUR POCKETS YOU IDIOTS.
They also only had 3 boxes to hold peoples bags as they went through the scanner so that caused some time delays too.
Into the chapel we went.
It's the biggest in the world.
The colour scheme is actually quite boring. But walking around you start to absorb all the hidden details.
Very nice.
The roof is super high.
The apostle peter is buried there. I remember I encountered the same problem last time I visited - I couldn't see down into the staircase/crypt from behind the barrier.
Of course Will could 😒
A few popes buried around the place.
We just went in the free areas. Skipped the paid spots.
We poor hahah
There was a nun praying and it made me happy.
Very nice 👏🏼👏🏼
Walked to the pantheon.
I remembered in school we all got yelled at inside by a worker because we were too loud.
It's free too - but boring.. not pretty to look at. A big dome with a checkered roof. It was a pagan spot then got destroyed and rebuilt and converted.
It's 2000 years old though so that aspect is an A+.
A few men dressed in gladiator outfits outside made it fun.
We then walked to the Trevi fountain to see it again.
I bloody love it.
Big walk home and I think I might have some blisters coming.
The perils of new shoes eh?
Chilled at the hostel then went across the road for dinner.
AMAZING bruschetta but they tipped themselves... 😒😒
Gave away a lot of money today 😩 this morning a lady approached us and said her bag was stolen and could we help her - she was British, we though she was gonna ask for directions when we stopped to help.
As I am unable to say no I gave her 2€. I hope what she said was true.
At the hostel now.
Keen for tomorrow!!Baca lagi

So Will got home after 5am.
So our sleep In was grand.
I woke him at 12:30 because I felt awkward sitting there with the cleaning dude busying himself in the room.
We left and headed to the colosseum. We stopped in for breakfast. Will was basically on his death bed. He was incredibly hungover and falling asleep at the table.
While annoyed at this that was nothing compared to my grief towards finding out his Caesar salad he didn't eat was €14.
To be fair it was the worst salad I have ever seen (who puts tomato and corn in a Caesar?) but still.
He needed to go back to bed so I was a loving girlfriend and allowed him to.
Back home we walked.
Once there he was out within a minute.
I am to be compensated by being allowed to buy another souvenir.
I had a nap too because I was bored.
He was starving when he woke me up at 6 so we went out to dinner at an Indian place.
Good food.
Back home.
We have now booked tickets to the Vatican tomorrow and SUPER EXPENSIVE tickets to the colosseum because we both agreed from the beginning it's something that interests us both. We are getting a live guide, skip the queue and access to the the underground section too.
99€ each -- EEEEEKKKKKK.
I had a pre arranged skype date with Jacinta at 12am so I took the laptop downstairs.
Unfortunately people were in the "social room" (there is a sign that has designated as such) but I ignored them in the hope they would leave. They didn't.
Jacinta did so much talking I probably sounded crazy buy muttering very few words at spread out intervals. It wouldn't have been that obvious I was on Skype with someone haaha
Good to chat with her.Baca lagi

No one can open their locker. Nobody.
So much noise throughout the night.
Checked out and went to the station. We were early so we waited in McDonald's.
Hopped on train.
I slept the whole way so the 2 hours went so quick! Couldn't believe we were already there.
Walked to hostel - checked in - dumped stuff.
We are so freaking cold we have had enough so we decided to get our winter shopping done.
I had a look at where decathlon was and it was easy enough to get there if we got the metro.
It was a 100 minute free travel ticket.
6 stops later and we were in the store.
I had so much fun shopping - everything is so cheap!! 🤗
I bought snow gloves, a beanie (one that actually covers my ears), thermal pants, a thermal shirt, a jacket that will let me be in weather of -15 and a new pair of boots.
Oh and socks.
Will got boots, snow pants, a snow jacket, an everyday jacket, thermal pants and thermal shirt.
So basically we bought the whole shop.
The whole thing only came in at 500€ 🎉
Considering how much we bought and the quality that's terrific.
It really annoyed I had to buy new shoes but I cannot for the life of me fine the hole in the bottom and when I walk on snow that will be a big issue so they had to go :(
I'm quite attached to my shoes lol.
Caught the metro home (had to buy a new ticket because we took so long shopping) then went next door for dinner.
We went and sat at the bar in the hostel and a sort of failed attempt at a karaoke night was happening.
The host was very good at covering the awkwardness just people weren't drunk enough.
They do offer the insensitive of a free shot if you sing though.
Will was setting up for a game of beer pong with people when I left.
Keen to explore Rome again!Baca lagi

Woke up on time AGAIN 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Went to the start of the tour.
First stop was basilica di Santa Maria Novella.
It's the same green marble look as the big ass Cathedral. I can't actually remember it's significance. Whatever it was it didn't catch my interest. 😓
The tour started with a lesson which was just about Florence and it's history.
We went to a street and found the first ever Gucci store.
There was a take away wine hole he showed us in the wall from an ancient shop - put your cup in and it will be filled haha
There was a palace which is now an art thing. But he pointed out the optical illusion of the bricks to make it look taller (they get smaller the higher you go)
Main Cathedral, bell tower and baptistry was cool. He just talked about how they built it.
We went to the square with the statues. As I already knew David is fake but Hercules next to him is real and are the rest undercover.
They are next to another palace - now town hall I think.
We saw some other churches and marks on a wall showing where previous flood water had risen too - VERY HIGH.
We saw another church with a square covered in Christmas markets. Overall I was surprised by how little Florence had to offer lol
Tour ended.
We went to a resturant for food then headed to the Uffizie museum because today was free entry. 👏🏼👏🏼
We saved 25€. 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
The line was massive!!!! All the way up the street but it was slowly moving so we joined.
30 mins later we had gone through security and got out tickets - in we went.
The main reason we wanted to come here was to see "the birth of Venus" by Botticelli.
Which we did and it was great.
I didn't recognize a single other painting 😂
Some were great others I don't know why they are there.
There was a di Vinci so that was also cool. I didn't actually like it but hey, I saw it.
The adoration of the magi I think?
The roof was the real highlight to honest. It was SO VERY AWESOME. The wholeeee building was painted. It was the best bit by far.
So many corridors and rooms I couldn't believe how big this place was and they only had seating in the corridor and not in front of the artwork - probably a technique to stop people dordling and manage the line out front.
The windows had a nice view.
Next we headed to the Pitti palace which housed the most important family of Florence.
We wanted to see the garden but signage was shit so we couldn't find it - we saved another 26€ 🎉🎉🎉🎉
The inside was amazing. I've seen a few palaces now but still constantly have my mind blown.
They are beautiful 😭😭😭😭
It was an art gallery in itself.
We just walked through one of the floors (took ages) then headed home because we were freezing and our legs hurt. They were numb. Sooo cold 😨😨😨
I fell asleep at the hostel until Will woke me to go get food.
We got a take away pizza and ate at the hostel.
My lips are so sore! They are so cracked and dry.
I need to buy another beanie- my one doesn't cover my ears so it's bloody useless.
My shoes reeeeek! I have to take them off in the bathroom then shove them quickly in a locker - they are so embarrassing.
SO I AM SO EMBARRASSED 😂😂😂😂
Will left the room to go to the toilet - a person entered the room with what looked like a packet of dried mangoes. I thought it was Will so I asked so very loudly "OOOO WHAT YA GOT THERE?!"
It wasn't Will.
I was ignored.
Everyone heard me get ignored.
I then muttered I thought you were someone else but not sure if he heard.Baca lagi

It's 1am and I have been having a laughing fit for the last 15 minutes over an American trying to open his locker.
It was just so relatable. It was me yesterday until Will came to my rescuer just like he did for this guy.. 3 times.
It was so funny he was getting so frustrated.
I probably woke the whole room up with h my giggles, I was trying to muffle them in my pillow but holy cow it was funny. He had to have breaks and chill out in his bed to calm down before trying again.
We were going to go on a walking tour and to museums today so we were up around 10 but then the same American guy - Chris, told us that tomorrow - the first Sunday of every month all museums are free so we figured to save money we would postpone and today go to Pisa instead.
Walked to the station, bought tickets and got on the train. It's about an hour away. I slept.
Arrived and walked in a straight line from Pisa central until we found the tower.
I was surprised. It leans more than I thought - even when taking photos it doesn't show the proper lean.
We got the standard pushing photos. It Will was so very upset he couldn't lie down and get his giant penis photo because we couldn't go on the grass. We got a semi ok one of him sitting down instead but I can tell he is really disappointed 😂
Your cans till climb to the top which I was supported about because I thought they stopped that but heaps of people were up there. It costs 18€ each though so we passed - we would rather spent the money on a colosseum/Pompeii tour.
Next to the tower are 2 big churchy buildings that are lovely but apart from that Pisa is a really boring city.
Not pretty at all.
We tried to find things to look at but there was nothing.
We were then going to pass time having a hot drink becuse it was FREEZING but they have that outrageous tax and to get a take away coffee was 1.10 or to sit down in became 4.00. That's a big bloody jump!
Never mind then.
We walked around but seriously there was nothing to see so we jumped back on the train.
Back at the hostel we just relaxed before going out to dinner at gustapizza which was highly recommended to us.
While it was nice it wasn't THE BEST PIZZA IN THE WORLD as it was described to us.
We walked around and found the fake David statue and others - now having see the real one the 2 statues really are different. Very very different.
it was just too cold we have gone home again.
The Christmas lights are nice but it would look better if there were more around.
Finished a Sherlock Holmes book.Baca lagi

Finished the last book of miss peregrines peculiar children series. Really enjoyed it.
😡😠😡😟 some idiot got up at 5:45 (neither me or Will had fallen asleep yet)
Banging doors, didn't turn off his alarm 3 separate times, just let it ring through and used a torch brighter than the sun.
BANGCLASHBOOM.
We got up later than we should have but oh well.
Will doesn't fit the bed at all so a shocking night really.
We walked to the gallery academia* where the statue of David is - there is a fake version outside somewhere that I've seen before but I figure this time I should see the real one.
Had to go through a security check before we could even buy tickets.
8€ each which is ok cause we haven't been to a museum in ages.
First room was just paintings. While they are impressive they were by no means the best I've seen on this trip. I didnt recognise any of the artists either - that isn't to say they aren't extremely famous and important. It's very possible my own ignorance ruined it for me lol.
Next corridor had incomplete statues by MichaelAngelo and then at the end of it - I must admit is a very good set up (impressive spacing and lighting) was the statue of David.
All it needed was a big neon arrow pointing at it.
We sat down and admired it pretending to be art connoisseurs.
Will made a comment that his hands were stupidly disproportionate which I agreed with 100%
We then went and read the info thing in it and it said along the lines of "it's so impressive and famous because of the fluidness and impressive scaling of the hands and feet"
..........
..........
............
Clearly they don't know what they are talking about and if we pursued this line of work we would become experts in the field.
No, it is not to a good scale you geese.
I tried to take some HILARIOUS penis pinching photos. I hope no one knew what I was doing hahha
Next room was a bunch of smaller sculptures and a lot of heads.
Next room more painting which I didn't like - to much of the gold crap.
Anddd we left.
Happy we went.
We went and walked around the main cathedral - Maria del Fiore.
3rd biggest in the world. The detail is remarkable and it's different too because of the design. It's got a lot of green on it.
It's fricken huge and I have not a single memory of it. I know I must have seen it before though because I remember the gold door of the building next to it...
🤔🤔
The line was big to enter so depending on what it is like tomorrow and price we might go in then but didn't today.
We went h&m and bought me 2 new pairs of tights because all my pants have holes in them and so I have been wearing my thermals for an entire week (they too have a hole but it's on my butt so my black undies underneath hide it)
We then went for food.
Walked around - past the fake David and other statues (another flash of memory came back) and then we went to the hostel.
I fell asleep lying on the benches in the kitchen/eat area.
2 hours later (oops) Will woke me and we went out for Chinese food which ended up being a let down but I got delicious gelato on the way home so it's all good 👍🏼 white chocolate with pistachio sauce 🤤🤤🤤
It's so cold.
It's snowing in so many places in Europe already.
The Australian girl from Venice is at this hostel too so we sat with her for a bit when we got back and her new friends. Some dude was drinking wine out of juice carton.
Oh and completely forgot- at the gallery we went to a musical instrument section with really old instruments. Not relevant to the museum but still, cool. 👍🏼Baca lagi

This morning they held our bags for us while we went to see Romeos house.
Pretty shit tbh. Just a door.
We walked back to the hostel through Christmas markets - CANNOT WAIT FOR THE GERMAN ONES.
We grabbed our stuff and walked towards the station. There was a Shakespeare head and quote I got a picture with.
We had breakfast at a Burger place along the way because we weren't sure if where we were going have a food place or not so better safe than sorry - it was fantastic good and lucky we did stop because there was nowhere to eat after that.
We waited for an hour for our bus then jumped on.
It took nearly 4 hours because our driver got lost at the end. He had a passenger assist him to find the station ahah 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Walked to our hostel just as the sun was setting but found it easily enough.
It's a pretty basic hostel but it will do the job.
We went out for food - in Italian style we got lasagne, bruschetta and gelato 🙃🙃
Back at the hostel and in the kitchen eating area charging our phones 👍🏼Baca lagi

Our whole room was checking out today so all 4 of us were trying to pack in a cramped space. I was a nice human and decided to let them go first so I stayed in bed longer. All out of kindness. I had no other motive I swear 🙄😅
We went to buy new boat tickets and of course they dont take card and there was no ATM so I went for a 2km walk run in the rain to try and find one. People kept saying "it's over the next bridge"
IT WAS NEVER OVER THE NEXT BRIDGE.. OR THE NEXT ONE.
Long story short I didn't find one but we found money.
Bought tickets and got on the boat. Shock shock they didn't check tickets which annoyed me after all the effort.
our boat took us straight to the train station so that was something.
We were a little early so we had breakfast in a cafeteria.
The train was practically empty which I prefer.
I was asleep-ish and the train guy came past to check everyones tickets but didn't bother us because we were sleeping 😂
Doing a good job, mate 👍🏼👍🏼
It was a 2 hour journey but we finally made it to Verona.
2km walk to our hostel/bnb but it was lovely. They have there own mini gladiator stadium. I bloody love gladiator stuff.
There was also this nice stretch that had colorful buildings and a park.
it's a Bnb hostel we are staying at.
So everyone has a private room but there are several guests.
I really like it. What a great find.
Pretty soon after arriving we headed off to Juliets house from Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet - or rather the balcony they think inspired Shakespeare.
The balcony is classical. The vines near by add such charm. Underneath is a statue of Juliet.
There is a wall with hundreds/thousands of love locks attached. There was also a wall that had love notes attached too. Genuinely horrified that 90% of them were attached to the wall with a bandaid.
I just slipped mine in the door crack.
I addressed it to Will and not Romeo just to be clear hahaha
So what made this EXTRA romantic was that we saw a proposal.
She said yes.
He knelt and I wacked Will to get his attention. Neither of us have seen a proposal before.
The girl was laughing. It wasn't the best reaction.. She never said Yes but eventually pulled him up and accepted it.
He wasn't fussed by her reaction though - he was talking to the friend filing while he waited for her to stop laughing lol.
Upon reflection it's a way cooler and less cliche spot that the Eiffel Tower.
The tunnel walls as we entered and left were all signed with love graffiti.
We went walking around and ended up having an early dinner.
Back at the house we showered and then had a tea with everyone in the kitchen area. I didn't really like anyone tbh.
There was a Lithuanian girl who has been hitchhiking around and I asked her about it and then I made a comment along the lines of Ivan Milat has put me off doing that and then an AUSTRALIAN goes
"Ivan Milat, Is that somewhere in Europe? "
......
I beg your pardon?

One of these days I'll say I slept well. Today is not that day.
I showered cause I felt yuck and didn't want to waste the fact we have a private shower. I washed my hair. The treatment stuff made it easier to wash :)
Off we went.
We got on the water boat. Everything looks so nice this morning.
No one checked our tickets so we could have saved ourselves some money. 😪
It took us over to the other 'island'
Off we got.
Immediately liked it.
I had the Rialto bridge pre loaded in maps so off we went.
On the way we walked past St Marcos * so we popped on inside. The outside is more impressive than that inside. The outside is seriously incredible. Still, nice inside. You couldn't take photos but entry was free so no complains here.
The thing about Venice is, every single building is the same style. It's not some beautiful buildings. It's all beautiful buildings.
I think I was expecting more canals but there was still a lot.
I like the bridges you have to walk over.
It was like a labyrinth. So many twists and turns and dead ends.
It's so beautiful. The flower boxes out of windows add to the charm.
The main bridge wasn't what I envisioned. We still got some photos. ✌🏼✌🏼
We found a little resturant to eat at next to a dead end canal. I had two wonderful servings of bruschetta.
Will is compelled to correct my pronunciation every time. Lol
We just walked really. We both really really enjoyed it.
So much to look at.
Each bridge had a different beautiful canal entry.
So many bloody gondalas.
We didn't end up getting one because they were too expensive.
And we figure our ferry boat sort of counts as a boat ride? I mean, it's in the same water :)
Lots of artists and pigeons around.
I FEEL LIKE THE BIGGEST DICK.
I gave a sad looking homeless man money and he looked so excited about it - as I was walking away I realised I got the money out of the wrong pocket so I gave him the wrong currency meaning he can't even use it.
His poor heart.
Hating myself.
THE MOST EMBARRASSING THING.
I was taking selfie and a man approached me -
He said something and I go "sorry, English"
He looked at me like I was retarded and both him and Will said together "that was English"
Bloody spastic.
I felt like such a tool. It was heavy English but still english.
Automatic response.
It was way more embarrassing than it sounds reading it back but trust me, it was mortifying and Will has been laughing at me allllllll day.
We made our way back to St Marks square.
We then caught the boat to some island because our 24 hours wasn't yet up.
We went in the church of saint Georgio Maggiore. Nothing special. It was going some random display thing which made no sense but it had a cool mirror set up of mirrors in a circle so when you stepped in you got reflected in heaps of ways.
Fun fun.
We got back on the boat - that 0/4 for ticket checking.
Back at the hostel we just relaxed in the warm lobby.
I actually really like this hostel excel for location.
Well, not so much location as the price of the ferry.
Will got a beer and when the kitchen opened we got dinner.
It was a really good day. I rate Venice highly.Baca lagi
