      Day 2 New Delhi

      November 3, 2023 in India ⋅ ☀️ 30 °C

Our full day in Delhi was a success! We started off the morning at the Red Fort, and from there went to a market across the road. We jumped on a bike and the guy pedaling ended up taking us to a spice market which was super cool. After we went to Agrasen Ki Baoli which is the photo of Vedant and I pictured. It was an old bathing area and it was super cool to see. We then ended up at Hyumuans Tomb which was a super beautiful memorial site. Finally we ended at the Lotus Temple which is the lotus looking photo here at sunset. You can also see the air pollution in the sky in this photo, it’s been a cloudy few days here in Delhi due to pollution.

Had another amazing dinner here in India!

      Delhi

      January 4 in India ⋅ ⛅ 17 °C

Hüt abig isch t verlobigs party gsie, wo de brütigam de bruut de ring an finger asteckt. Arrival into Delhi

      February 17, 2023 in India ⋅ ☀️ 28 °C

Great flight and that’s praise indeed coming from someone who is not that into flying! For some reason people with the same name were not seated together… the man in between Ted and I had a wife who was in the row in front but with some cooperative juggling we were all sorted to our satisfaction by take-off. Did a bit of dozing but no real 💤 so Ted is now flat out on the hotel bed and I am by the splendid pool as, sleep or no sleep, I cannot pass this one up and we leave by 6 am tomorrow! An hour and a half’s queuing to get through immigration was chaotic and tortuous but we made it in the end, narrowly avoiding engaging in fisticuffs with queue jumpers and actually feeling lucky, as it can be up to 3 hours we were told. Introduction to the sights of Delhi was from the coach drive to the hotel but I wasn’t quick enough with my phone camera to snap the random cows, the many men who were casually having a pee by the roadside or the overly laden bikes so you will have to be satisfied with the photos I did get dear Readers! The traffic was horrendous with much honking of horns and this is expected to let the “opposition” (other road users) know you are there. I spied a small encampment, complete with washing lines on the roadside, which must make life almost impossible but there it was. By contrast our first hotel is large and palatial. Note to self….. it’s always advisable, having spent time sorting out jewellery, to remember to put the jewellery into the hand luggage and not leave at home ….. 😬😩Read more

      J11 : Delhi - Sikhisme et mausolées

      March 27 in India ⋅ ☀️ 35 °C

      Mangalore

      February 13 in India ⋅ ☁️ 70 °F

Up early Tuesday morning for a flight south to Mangalore. From there we’ll drive 2-1/2 hours or so to Anandashram, the ashram of Papa Ramdas in the Kerala area.
It feels like the airport is being refreshed and renewed. Beautiful artwork reflecting the people of the area and of India. My favorite is the Sun Salutation poses sculpted in a spiral. We saw a similar presentation in Agra along the street…amazing! Not in a spiral though, one pose after the other, in order of course. Going too fast to get a video of that. Felt happy that I could capture this one. Also love that there’s a prayer room at the airport! And then, Krispy Kreme…say what???Read more
