      Sugamo - home of red underwear!
      We had been here a few years ago with Kuniko, but today, we went back with Akiko. It's an old-fashioned shopping street and people like to go there to buy red underwear, or really anything red, because red gives power, and who wouldn't want that? It is fun to stroll up and down the street, browsing, maybe buying (although not red underwear), stopping here for lunch, there for a snack and another there for coffee.Читать далее

      את הבוקר הזה פתחנו קצת בעצלתיים - לשי וכרמל יש עוד טיפה ג'ט לג..
      נסענו להרג'וקו - תחנה ראשונה מקדש Meji. מאיג'י הייתה השושלת שפתחה את יפן למסחר עם שאר העולם המקדש יפה והדרך אליו מלווה בהמון ירוק - האגדה מספרת שיש שם 120 אלף עצים - כל עץ נשתל על ידי יפני כאות של כבוד 🤷
      משם המשכנו לרחוב טקשיטה - אני חושבת שהרחוב הזה הוא תמצית יפן המצועצעת.
      הכל שם מוגזם - צבעוני גדול הזוי ונועז חוויה מיוחדת במינה. כל פעם שאתה חושב - זהו יותר הזוי מזה אתה מגלה שטעית. האופנה שם מגוונת ומשוגעת כמו שאפשר רק לדמיין ביפן.
      יש בית קפה לכלבים ובית קפה לחתולים - עד כאן חצי שפוי אבל יש גם בית קפה לסמורים!
      יש את כל סוגי הממתקים וכל האוכל שם צבעוני - גבינה מותכת בשלל צבעי הקשת וכמובן - הקרפ המפורסם שלהם - לא יכולנו שלא לטעום.
      כדי להוריד את הפאניקה של הסוכר הלכנו לטייל בפארק yoyogi. הפארק מאוד יפה אבל כנראה שבתקופת הפריחה והשלכת היא עוצר נשימה.
      סיימנו את היום במסעדה של אליס בארץ הפלאות.
      כמה נקודות מהיום:
      1. עד עכשיו חווינו התלהבות קלה מכרמל - היום פשוט תקפו אותה קבוצה של יפנים מבוגרים+ בהתלהבות שיא על כמה שהיא חמודה - קאוודי!
      2. בעל הכנף פה מלאים בתושיה - צריך להיזהר מהם
      3. נראה שכמו שהיפנים יותר קטנים ככה גם החיות מחמד שלהם - מסתובבים פה רק כלבים מיניטורים      Читать далее

      4 Tag Tokyo

      Heute waren wir in Ikebukuro (Tokyo). Es war sehr cool, am anfang habe ich mir ein Coca Cola Peach gekauft. Es war sehr süss, aber trozdem lecker. Auserdem waren wir im Pokemon Center, ich habe mir einen Pokeball und drei Pokemon gekauft. Danach sind wir nach“New York“ gegangen, (natürlich nicht) aber wir haben die Freiheitssatue in Tokyo gesehen. Wir gingen auch noch an einen Strand an dem man die Skyline von Tokyo sehn sollte. Das war nicht gelogen, es war atemberaubend.

      TOKYO - Sugamo

      Heute machten wir einen Ausflug nach Sugamo

      Es ist bei älteren Menschen eine sehr beliebte Einkaufsstraße Sugamo Jizo. Die Soto-Sekte Manchozan Koganji Temple, berühmt dafür, den Teil der Kannon-Statue zu waschen, der dem Teil entspricht, den Sie heilen möchten, oder ihn mit einem nassen Handtuch abzuwischen und dafür zu beten, ist weithin unter dem Namen „Togenuki Jizo“ bekannt Viele Menschen kommen zum Beten, wenn sie alle Dornen herausziehen. Die Haupthalle ist als eingetragenes materielles Kulturgut Japans registriert. Die Umgebung ist gesäumt von lebhaften Geschäften, die verschiedene Waren, Kleidung und Restaurants verkaufen.Читать далее

      Sunshine City bei Regen ☔

      Ausgeschlafen und strotzend vor Kraft ging's los nach Toshima ins riesige Einkaufscenter Sunshine City, was für heute wohl gar keine schlechte Idee war, denn das Wetter war Hundsmiserabel 😅 Also nix mit Sunshine...

      Aber dafür gibt's es ja Einkaufszentren 😎

      Als allererstes sind wir auf die oberste Etage gefahren, denn da wimmelt es von Restaurants. Es fiel einem wirklich schwer sich zu entscheiden, aber dann wurden wir uns einig - ein amerikanisch angehauchter Fleichgrill.

      Ich nahm eine Burger Bulette (300gr) und Sebastian bekam gewürfeltes Steak, dazu gab es Mais, Nudeln, Brokkoli, Zwiebeln, toppings nach Wahl (ich hatte Käse), Salat, Hühnerbrühe und einen Teller Reis jeweils. 2 große Gläser Wasser waren auch schon im Preis inbegriffen. Zum Verständnis - wir haben für das alles 5.200 Yen bezahlt was ungefähr 31€ sind...für zwei Personen zusammen 🎉
      Ich würde sagen, dadurch das es Reis als Beilage gab und keine Pommes oder Kartoffeln, hat das Essen nicht so sehr gestopft obwohl es wirklich mächtig war!

      Wir waren danach auch noch lange satt 😅😅

      Aber etwas Platz für süßes ist immernoch und wir gingen ins Pokémon Café und holten uns einen Pikachu Snack plus einen Café 😍

      Aber auf der Restaurant Etage gab es noch etwas anderes, ein riesiger Bereich von Bandai Namco der neben Fanartikeln von speziellen Serien auch eine Dreh-Maschinen Zone hatte, sogenannte Gacha's. Das könnt ihr euch wie übergröße Kaugummi Automaten vorstellen, wo man aber anstelle von Kaugummis: Figuren, Anhänger, Stifte usw ziehen kann.

      Ja wir ließen ein paar 100yen Münzen da 😅 aber das war ja auch geplant.

      Ein paar Stunden später 🤣🤣 haben wir versucht uns (fast alle) restlichen Geschäfte anzusehen (immerhin regnet und stürmt es ja draußen).

      Unteranderem gab es einen Disney Store der den Bären Lotso aus Toy Story 3 verkaufte, er sah genauso dreckig und zerzaust aus wie im Film..und roch nach Erdbeeren 😍😍 der wird auf jeden Fall kurz vor dem Rückflug geholt 😁

      Um gegen Abend das Wetter zu checken, gingen wir auf eine der vielen Terrassen und fanden eine Miniatur Stadt im Grün 😍 was man nicht so alles finden kann (Danke Sebastian für deine guten Augen 😘).

      Aber diesmal konnte uns auch nicht die neue Girlgroup aufhalten, die immer mal wieder im Laufe des Tages dort auftrat und wir machten uns mit einem kleinen Umweg zum 7eleven, wieder auf zum Hotel.
      Dort machte ich mir die schon fertige Spaghetti Bolognese warm, die wir im 7Eleven kauften und was soll ich euch sagen, wäre jetzt noch ein Gurkensalat dabei gewesen, hätte sie geschmeckt wie von Mama 🥰🥰
      Jetzt weiß ich auch das meine Mutter hier in Japan überleben würde 😅😅

      Achja ganz vergessen! Sebastian hat auch etwas neues im 7Eleven ausprobiert! Man kann sich nämlich dort einen Becher mit gefrorenen Früchten kaufen und ihn am Automaten in einen Smoothie verwandeln 😯 Wie aus den Instagram Videos!

      Es schmeckte super frisch aber es war auch eiskalt 🤯
      Letztlich hat sich Sebastian nochmal einen geholt, weil's so toll war 😅      Читать далее

      Arrival in Tokyo, Komagome

      A 6 hour flight later we arrived to the second destination of our Asia trip: Tokyo. We could only check in at 4pm but we decided to head to our neighbourhood, Komagome with our big luggage and chill out there (also we only slept 2 hours on the plane so we weren't too energetic). After some Japanese curry and Gyudon (beef and rice) in the local cheap place we went to the Kyu-Furukawa Gardens which is a "unique garden of the Taisho-period with a harmonized mixture of Japanese and western taste" - as the leaflet says. It was beautiful and perfect for relaxing/half sleeping, what the leaflet doesn't mention is that there are many invisible mosquitos (well how useful our mosquito repellent would have been if it wasn't taken away from us in China with the 'it is too dangerous' reason).
      When we arrived to check in our street seemed like the most surreal place ever. Light, classical/computer game music was played from speakers and everything seemed tiny, the streets, the cars, no rubbish anywhere - like we were in a computer game or virtual reality.
      As it was 30+ degrees we were looking forward some refreshing shower in our tiny apartment (as big as our two futon beds so they are folded up during the day) followed by instant noodle pots and a big sleep.      Читать далее

      Ukulele Mania

      The guy was so nice, he invited me in for coffee and a little jam to try the different uke's.
      Offered me biscuits and gave me a pack of stickers to put on my ukelele.
      He had so many unique uke's, one he had was a cigar box uke which there are only 7 of in the world.
      To me it felt like being at olivanders but I was too nervous to properly play through them.      Читать далее

      COVID-19 strikes back

      Bonjour !

      Aujourd'hui ça sera plus une anecdote de voyage qu'un article, car j'ai assez peu de photos (vous comprendrez pourquoi 😂).

      Suite au parc d'attraction Yomiuri Land, j'ai passé les jours suivants à Tokyo avec mes amis.

      Je devais bientôt partir pour la ville de Nagoya, mais un évènement indésirable (bien que prévisible) se produit.
      COVID-19, le retour 😱

      Ça ne m'avait manqué du tout, mais après plusieurs mois de voyage, il était normal de le revoir pointer son nez.

      J'habitais à ce moment dans une sharehouse proche de la station Senkawa (la même qu'à mon arrivée en mai). Qui dit sharehouse, dit vie en communauté: salon, cuisine, douche et toilettes partagés.

      Malheureusement, l'un d'entre nous a attrapé le virus, et a mis un peu trop de temps à s'isoler, contaminants au passage quelques uns d'entre nous.
      Nous étions 15 au total, et jour après jour, le nombre de cas augmentait: et on rayait les noms sur un tableau ☠️

      Nous communiquions sur un groupe de discussion Line (une application de messagerie en ligne semblable à Messenger ou encore WhatsApp) pour être informé tout en évitant les contacts.
      Tout nouveau contaminé devait s'isoler dans sa chambre en attendant la mise en quarantaine dans un hôtel dédié. Les autres pouvaient sortir, mais avec précaution 😷

      Puis fut le moment du test antigénique 🧪
      À cet instant j'étais assez inquiet car être positif signifiait s'isoler à Tokyo plusieurs semaines et saboter mon voyage à Nagoya 🥺

      Heureusement, les 3 tests que j'ai fait sur plusieurs jours ont tous été négatifs et j'ai pu quitter la sharehouse sans problème 😁

      Au moment de partir, il restait 2 cas sains sur les 15, moi compris 😱

      Hello!

      Today, it will be more of a travel anecdote than an article, as I have very few photos (you'll understand why 😂).

      After visiting Yomiuri Land amusement park, I spent the following days in Tokyo with my friends.

      I was about to depart soon for Nagoya, but an unwanted (though predictable) event occurred.
      COVID-19 stroke again 😱

      I hadn't missed it at all, but after several months of traveling, it was only natural to see it appear at some point.

      At that time, I was living in a sharehouse near Senkawa station (the same one I stayed at in May). Life in a sharehouse means shared areas: shared living room, kitchen, shower, and toilet.

      Unfortunately, one of us contracted the virus and took a little too long to isolate, inadvertently infecting some of us along the way.
      We were a total of 15, and day by day, the number of cases increased, and we were crossing names off on a board ☠️

      We talked through a Line group chat (an online messaging app similar to Messenger or WhatsApp) to stay updated while avoiding physical contact.
      Newly infected person had to isolate in their room while waiting to be quarantined in a dedicated hotel. The rest of us could go out, but with caution 😷

      Then came antigen testing 🧪
      At that moment, I was quite worried because testing positive meant isolating in Tokyo for several weeks and ruining my trip to Nagoya 🥺

      Fortunately for me, all 3 tests I took over several days came back negative, and I was able to leave the sharehouse without any issues 😁

      The day I left, we were 2 healthy people remaining out of 15, myself included 😱

      コロナの話だよ！😂

      よみうりランドの後はまだ東京に住んでいた。５月の同じシェアハウスだった。

      もうすぐ名古屋に行くつもりだったけど、シェアハウスのルームメイトがコロナウイルスに感染してしまった。
      次の日コロナウイルスの感染者が増え始めた。で、だんだん悪くなっちゃった。😷

      私もコロナウイルス抗原検査キット３つ使った。幸い、毎回陰性だった。🥲

      シェアハウスの中には１５人けど私が名古屋に行く時、２人だけ残った。😱

      Last Night in Japan

      After dinner, a group of friends and I 'hit the town'. I was having a fun time, staring in wonder at the lights and branded buildings that I recognised. But we ventured on towards a photo booth parlour.
      It was crazy (in a good way). They had a whole floor of photo booths. Costumes were available for hire (so you could dress up for the photos), a wall lined with a giant mirror, as well as a station for preparing your look - the kind that you'd see in a classic theatre (a mirror lined with light bulbs.) They also had hair straighteners and curlers, which I found entertaining.

      After our photo session we found a karaoke place to hire a room. It was the first time I had been able to do karaoke without feeling stupid or too self conscious. They had a large selection of songs, in multiple languages too. It was really fun, and my favourite song to sing was "I'm gonna be (500 miles)" by The Proclaimers.

      It was a really fun night, I'm so glad I got that experience. I just wish I could've had more times like that with those friends.      Читать далее
