    Pirates, Pilgrims, Pebbles & Prickles

    October 20, 2017 in the United Kingdom ⋅ 🌬 14 °C

Couple days in Penzance (no singing pirates...), but lots of caves for pirate treasure
Walk to Saint Michael Mount one day (and then back to geocache with bit of Camino trail in craziest weather ever)
And trek (whole day walking) to Lands End on the another... Fell over couple times (which resulted in being attacked by prickles or thorns each time- why is everything so spikey here!), and then beach of pebbles that had to cross (which were actually boulders). Epic scenery! Whose going to walk end to end with me?Read more

    Driving to Cornwall

    October 18, 2017 in the United Kingdom ⋅ ⛅ 14 °C

Bleak wet day for our drive south to Cornwall. Morning stop at Weston-super-Mare, strange name for a town but a lovely seaside town south of Bristol. Amazingly they have a sand castle competition running all summer. Lunch at Port Isaac, a small fishing port on the west Cornwall coast (also the little town where Dr Martin is set and filmed)- I had a great lobster sandwich.Read more

    Journey to the Land's End

    October 20, 2017 in the United Kingdom ⋅ ⛅ 11 °C

Blue sky and sunshine were our companions for almost the whole day today so we made the most of it. We began with breakfast in Mousehole, a small but quaint village and fishing port about 4 km south of Penzance. Next was St Ives, a seaside town and port north of Penzance on the coast of the Celtic Sea. It is known for its surf beaches and its art scene. We then worked our way down the coast to Land's End passing through old tin mining towns (Geevor, Levant, St Just) and Sennen Cove, a small coastal village about 3 km from Land's End, also known for its surfing beach. We reached Land's End just before the skies opened up. This headland is the most westerly point of mainland Cornwall and England. To say it was windy here is a gross understatement!Read more

    Doc Martin fan

    October 18, 2017 in the United Kingdom ⋅ ⛅ 13 °C

We set off from Bath at 8am to get a good start to the day as we had plans to visit quite a few places on our way to Penzance today. Best laid plans as they say! Peak hour traffic, an accident and a GPS that insists on sending us on narrow one lane roads put us back by a couple of hours so we had to bypass Lynmouth, Lynton and Allerford. We had a breakfast stop at Weston-super-Mare, a lovely seaside town south west of Bristol, and got to see what remained of their Summer sand-sculptures. The town has a great pier too and quite a nice sandy beach and, although it was an overcast slightly wet visit, you could imagine what a nice holiday spot it would be in Summer. We then set course for the Doc Martin location, Port Isaac on the Atlantic coast of north Cornwal, which Alan and I were excited to see being fans of the TV show. It didn't disappoint. What a charming village! Final destination, Penzance, our home for three nights (two days). The drive to our door was down a very narrow but long street with barely enough room for one car but somehow Alan managed to miss all the parked cars. Mind you he had to drive half road half footpath to do it! Well done Al.Read more

    Rain, Rain Go Away!

    October 19, 2017 in the United Kingdom ⋅ 🌬 13 °C

Started out after breakfast on a 5 K walk from Penzance to Marazion then at low tide walked over the causeway to Saint Michael's Mount, a small island with a castle and little village. By the time we were ready to leave the island the boats were cancelled and it was very windy and raining. In 2014 the causeway was washed away in a very bad storm so it had to be rebuilt. Walked back over the causeway and decided to catch a bus back to Penzance. Would love to return in summer as it looks beautiful.Read more

    Cape Cornwall

    November 5, 2017 in the United Kingdom ⋅ ⛅ 10 °C

In Cornwall ist alles cornish: cornish icecream, cornish clotted cream, cornish way to eat - alles cornish oder was?!

Für mich war jeder Anlaufpunkt in Cornwall wundervoll und ich kann nur empfehlen min. eine Woche Urlaub hier zu verbringen.

    December 5, 2017 in the United Kingdom ⋅ ⛅ 7 °C

    Autofahren in England...

    November 3, 2017 in the United Kingdom ⋅ ⛅ 13 °C

    Looe & Umgebung

    September 27, 2017 in the United Kingdom ⋅ ⛅ 14 °C
