Tootsie's Orchid Lounge - Nashville TN

      October 7, 2016 in the United States ⋅ ☀️ 28 °C

A back alley separates this honky-tonk bar from the Ryman & artists would come here to hang out during & after performances. Owner 'Tootsie' Bess was well-known for her generosity toward struggling musicians such as Willie Nelson, Kris Kristofferson & many more. According to tradition, a painter mistakenly painted the exterior orchid purple & that's how it has stayed. This place has 3 floors & was mobbed all day !!Read more

      Final full day in Nashville

      November 1, 2017 in the United States ⋅ ☁️ 16 °C

      12.25pm
Currently sat in the Wildhorse Saloon, listening to a band do their sound check.

We went to the ‘Patsy Cline’ museum this morning. It is on the floor above Johnny Cash museum & has a similar lay out & feel to it. I came away feeling really moved & not going to lie I did tear up a couple times. I didn’t quite realise how much she achieved in her short life, I still can’t believe she was only 30 when she was killed in a plane crash. She seemed much older & wiser than her years. There was lots of memorabilia, Patsy was a keen scrapbooker so all her personal photos & memories had been scanned so you could look through them all on an iPad. You got a real feeling about the kind of person she was. Her daughter Julie was in the museum chatting to guests, so it goes to show how closely the families work with the museum & the respect held for the person & their personal artefacts.
When we left the museum we popped into the ‘Goo Goo’ store - not that I would ever be able to eat any of their stuff as they contain nuts, mainly peanuts & we all know peanuts are evil.

      1.50pm
Sat in the Hard Rock cafe. Ordered steaks for lunch & non alcoholic cocktails (it is still a bit early!). We ended up leaving the Wildhorse as there was nothing due to happen until around 6pm. We thought they held line dancing throughout the day & would have been nice for Mel to line dance in Nashville, I may have even gave it a try, but obviously today was not the day! So instead we went for a walk after lunch along the pedestrian bridge, the views were really nice.

      11.30pm
Lunch in the Hard Rock cafe was nice, we had the Oreo cheesecake for desert, was yummy but I couldn’t eat it all!
After lunch we just wandered, went in shops to get gifts & bits for home. We called into Alan Jackson’s bar - ‘AJs Good Time Bar’, there were a couple singing & it was nice to sit & chill.

We caught the 6.15pm shuttle back to the hotel & then decided we really should start packing. At 8pm we popped to the bar for a drink & listen to the acts playing there ‘Brassfield Alley’ & ‘Brianna Alomar’. I really enjoyed both acts, easy listening & very talented, especially Brianna as she is only 16. Would be nice to see if either of them make it big in the future.

Oh we found out why Wildhorse was so quiet & bands sound-checking. Tonight was the final of the NashNext competition to find Country’s new next star.

Back to more packing & bed, sad that the holiday is at an end.

      Our First Exploration into Nashvegas

      December 23, 2017 in the United States ⋅ ☁️ 6 °C

After the heavy rain yesterday the wind blew up overnight and the weather event continued til mid-day when both eased.
We are staying in mid-town Nashville just off Broadway, the main drag that leads to Nashvegas - the Honky-Tonk strip. We kept our wandering to Broadway today poking our heads into each bar that had live musicians playing. After walking down to the river and up the other side of the street we settled on Tootsie’s Orchid Bar. We had a great afternoon and evening listening to the band there. We had a great time and are thinking of returning on Tuesday to listen to them again.Read more

      USA Tour - Nashville, Tennessese

      December 13, 2018 in the United States ⋅ ⛅ 15 °C

WHAT A NIGHTMARE OF A DAY!

Had to get a coach from Memphis to here, however the coach was delayed a good hour, and then we got stuck in traffic for 2 hours making a 4 hour journey close to 8 with the drivers break!

Anyway finally made it to the hostel which is quite cool - it’s called downtown Nashville hostel. It’s huge and all the rooms are named after bands etc.... guess which room I was put in.... THE BEATLES. Bastards

Anyway it was pissing down so I only went for a quick walk around the block around 9pm and had a quick beer before people retiring to bed. However from my first impressions.... I like Nashville. I like it a lot

      USA Tour - Nashville

      December 14, 2018 in the United States ⋅ 🌧 12 °C

Up and out today aaaaaaand it was lashing it down. Gutted. Hasn’t stopped all day and when you don’t really have much winter/wet weather clothing it’s a proper bitch.

However I did manage to get a few sites in before I and to give up and turn back. I went to see the state capitol building which is cool, saw the Andrew Jackson monument, Vietnam war monument, Korean War monument etc, basically I went to the war museum.

After I had managed to get soaked i went to broadway to a place called nudies honkey tonk bar which was awesome. It had the longest bar in Nashville it was class. The band was awesome, played some cool songs and I even got a request on which was sharp dressed man and they did it brilliantly! After a few beers in there I went to broadway brewery- 70 ales on tap! Cool place and I had brisket nachos that was bigger than my torso!

I debated about going out tonight but I’ve been told Saturday is the big night so I saved my money as I have to pick and choose my battles when travelling as once the money is gone. That’s it. Game over. Time to fly home. So I went back the hostel and just chilled, kinda boring but you can’t constantly keep yourself entertained whilst away, and sometimes just doing nothing is good for the mind.

Hopefully tomorrow I can get out and go and see the pantheon and the grand old oprey- fingers crossed for the weather...

      Mandag d. 8.7.

      July 8, 2019 in the United States ⋅ 🌫 33 °C

Bye bye dejlige hotelværelse i Memphis.

Cool :)

    • Day 19

      Tirsdag d. 9.7.

      July 9, 2019 in the United States ⋅ 🌫 34 °C

We dont do that anymore.... safety reason...

For dér kommer chefen overhovedet IKKE ud! Alle arbejdere skal jo have pause ;-)

    • Day 21

      Torsdag d. 11.7.

      July 11, 2019 in the United States ⋅ ☁️ 34 °C

You couldnt make it up... :)

Her kunne chefen begynde optræning af armen.
