      weiter zum Yosemite????

      Gleich nach dem Aufstehen ist mal telefonieren am Plan... die Campingplätze in der Nähe vom Yosemite sind aber alle randvoll und auch die Wartelisten sind sehr lang... also wenig Chance in einem praktikablen Umkreis zu bleiben... irgendwie verhext...
      Also muss mal wieder ein Alternativplan her. Paula ist aber auch schon etwas reisefaul, die langen Fahrten sind schon langweilig und anstrengend...
      Dann mal ein Kontrastprogramm... Buddhistischer Tempel in Stockton besichtigen (ist nur 50min entfernt..). Das war lustig dort, wir waren fast alleine und Paula hatte richtig Spaß... weißen Elefanten gefüttert (..."was bekommt denn der Elefant von dir? Mmmmh... Mäuse und Würmer..."). Na das hat ihm sicher geschmeckt... Zwischendurch dann noch eine Wasserschlacht mit den Kinder dort und Miezekatze streicheln... bei 45Grad kein schlechter Plan.
      Weiter gehts nach Atwater ins Flugzeugmuseum... besser gesagt zum dortigen RV Platz... das Museum hat schon geschlossen. Nach ein paar Stunden und einigen Videos später im klimatisierten Campy trauen wir uns dann doch noch raus umd fahren zum Spielplatz... es ist 21:00 und es hat noch lauschige 37Grad. Vom Spielplatz dann direkt ins Bett... es geht nicht anders...😅.
      Morgen steht dann blog schreiben (endlich wieder mal wlan) und Flugzeugmuseum am Plan... ach ja, und vielleicht noch weiter fahren...      Read more

      Saímos cedo de Yosemite Valley porque tínhamos 4h de caminho para chegar a Monterey. A primeira parte da viagem ainda no parque segue junto a um rio, no meio do vale, mas passado o parque o caminho torna-se chato, cansativo. É um estrada a direito no meio de campos secos durante demasiados km.
      De repente começam a aparecer campos brancos, quando me apercebo que são campos de algodão, encostei o carro, estava tão excitada, nunca tinha visto, sai do carro a correr com a máquina fotográfica.
      Tirei duas fotos, quando a Filipa grita: "Estamos a ser atacadas por milhares de melgas". Já foi tarde, estava toda mordida, fui a correr para o carro, ela ainda mandou umas quantas melgas dentro do carro porque não sou capaz 😬

      Vimos o pôr do sol pelo caminho, o céu estava lindíssimo, mas a chega ao hotel foi mais amarga. A Glória enganou-se e reservou o hotel para ontem, devia estar mesmo cansada :-(
      Inicialmente queriam que pagassemos de novo sendo que o dia de ontem já tinha sido cobrado e pior, hoje os quartos estavam ao dobro do preço.
      Isto já é caro, supostamente seria 100 dólares, hoje a noite já seria 190... Ou seja, íamos pagar quase 300, daqui a nada tenho que ir pôr o corpo a render...
      Conseguimos negociar 😜 devolveram o dinheiro de ontem e pagamos só a noite de hoje.

      Jantamos no Black Bear Dinner, muito americano, cada empregado era uma personagem, mas o melhor era um deles que parecia ter silicone no rabo, tinha um rabo tão grande e tão desproporcional que não conseguia tirar a vista de cima. Claro que como em todos os restaurantes americanos a comida é tanta que só conseguimos comer metade.

      Ce matin réveille de bonne heure au milieu de camions et ... beaucoup de bruit (ma fois, on n'a pas toujours le droit de dormir sur le parking d'un centre commercial). On roule jusqu'à Atwater, petit village dans lequel on s'arret faire des courses à notre magasin préféré "Walmart". On y passera sûrement la nuit. Demain, seulement 1h30 nous sépare du Yosemite National Park, ça sera donc notre prochaine étape !

      P.S nous sommes en Californie depuis quelques jours déjà et nous avons pu voir beaucoup de paysages différents. Aujourd'hui on a eu le droit à la savane eheh !

      This morning the noisy sound of trucks made us wake up earlier than usual (unfortunately, we aren't always allowed to sleep on malls parking). We drove towards Altwater, small town were we did some shopping in our fav' shop "Walmart". We'll probably sleep here as well. We are only 1h30 away from Yosemite National Park, so it will be our next stop :)

      P.S we've been in Cali for a few days now and we were able to see a lot of different landscapes but today we had the chance to see the savanna eheh (just without lions and zebras)      Read more

      Yosemite National Park

      So today we donned our warm weather gear to head three hours inland East to Yosemite National Park. 🚌

      5 am start to be ready to hit the road. No idea what to expect but looking at weather we thought we were in with a chance to see some snow!

      It didn't disappoint but seeing was as close as we got! No touching :) ❄️❄️❄️

      We stopped off at a safe way (American equivalent of woolworths) for some snacks for the bus ride! Safeway has everything known to mankind inside.

      Toilets (how cool would that have been raising toddlers and having toilets actually inside the supermarket instead of abandoning your half filled trolley to make an emergency dash to the loo's before aisle threw becomes the loo)

      Starbucks! Yep inside Safeway to !! ⭐️⭐️ caffeine hit!

      There's a whole aisle for beer and wine .... though too early for me to shop this aisle today.

      So we tried to stock up on different alternatives to what we would see and eat in Australia and then carried our goodies in a big brown paper bag (just like the movies) to the bus! Now we didn't know what food would be in the park so we shopped big! Much to everyone's entertainment on the bus....

      The scenery to Yosemite was a mixture of beautiful .... very green and spacious farming land. Combined with the odd trailer park and industrial enterprises.

      82% of the worlds almonds came from the area we drove through today.

      Yosemite was a mixture of huge slate and granite rocks, trees, grass. Waterfalls and rivers. They have had a record year for rainfall.

      We stopped at Tunnel View initially (instagram point) then on to Bridal falls where we could stand so close to the cascading waterfalls. Water spraying on your face ... and then the rain....

      We drove past El Capitan which was a monster of a mountain.

      The park is inhabited by bears, mountain lions, squirrels and an array of birds of prey. Sadly we didn't see any bears or lions !!!

      We had two hours in the heart of the valley where glaciers had made their way through some thousands or millions of years ago... I can't remember exactly ... I think I nodded off in that bit! The lodge sat at the base of Yosemite falls, a massive waterfall.

      Most people opted for lunch in the cafe and a leisurely stroll. Chad and I opted for the more vigorous and challenging high valley walk up the mountain to make the most of the views over the valley. 10 metres yes Metres into the steep incline ... my current lack of conditioning made me wonder if I perhaps should have joined the coffee club crew instead..... but it's a mind over matter thing. So up I went with Ironman himself.

      Speaking of peak physical fitness our tour guide today is an ultra marathon runner..... completed 100km last weekend and looking to do a 100 miler in the next few weeks 😬😳

      We trekked upwards for about 45 minutes (1 mile- 1.6km) to be rewarded with walking through a small waterfall and the spectacular views below. It was breath taking to be above the clouds and at eye level with the snow capped mountains around us!

      Air legger chad gave me some tips on climbing down so as not to slide the 1 mile down on my behind in my soggy converse shoes. And was impressed my height challenged legs managed to keep with him. Not to mention we did not need to legitimately call 911 for heart failure.

      A couple of beauty shots on our way out of the park before more snoozing on the bus on our way back!

      Another completely different view point today and amazing sites to be seen. Plus the coach driver took us via a truck stop with beer for the drive home.      Read more

      San Jose --> San Fransisco

      Einen neuer Tag begann damit das wir ungefähr 12 Stunden geschlafen haben. 😱😍
      Nachdem umbauen des Autos fuhren wir zu dem Pinnacle Nationalpark. Es war mit Abstand der schönste Wanderweg den wir bis jetzt gelaufen sind.
      Es war viel Schatten und es ging zwischen Schluchten entlang. An einem kleinen See haben wir eine kleine Pause gemacht. Es ging weiter und wir hatten immer wieder tolle Aussichten. 😏
      1 1/2 Stunden liefen wir den Wanderweg entlang.

      Mit dem Auto ging es dann in die Innenstadt von San Jose. Eine wirklich tolle Stadt. Es gibt dort so viele schöne Gebäude und Restaurants das wir aus den staunen nicht mehr raus kamen. Wir sind dann noch ins Unigelände gelaufen. Zurück zum Auto haben wir gegoogelt wo der Firmensitz von Apple liegt.
      Da er am Rad von San Jose liegt sind wir gleich hingefahren. Dort angekommen war es garnicht so spektakulär. Es war zwar ein schönes Gebäude aber dafür das es die Firma ist die den größten Gewinn der Welt macht war es schon etwas klein.🙈 Aber die Bauen ja ein neues was Richtung cool aussieht.

      Der Firmensitz von Google war 10 min mit dem Auto entfernt und wir fuhren dort hin.
      Dort angekommen waren alle Parkplätze voll. Wir haben heraus gefunden das gerade ein Rockkonzert ist und daher alles voll war. Letztendlich haben wir einen guten kostenlosen Parkplatz gefunden und sind zum Google Hauptsitz gelaufen. Es war so schön dort.
      Wir konnten draußen überall lang laufen und uns alles in Ruhe angucken. Es gab einen kleinen Bach, Fahrräder, viele Sitzmöglichkeiten und viele Grünflächen.

      Ich wollte mir noch unbedingt das Haus angucken wo Steve Jobs den allerersten Apple Computer gebaut hat. Nach 15 Minuten Fahrzeit waren wir da. Ein wundervoller Moment zusehen wo alles begann. Dort ging es los mit der Smartphone Geschichte.

      Da auch Facebook nicht weit entfernt war fuhren wir auch da hin. Es war dort viel abgesperrt aber wir haben eine Weg gefunden wie wir mit dem Auto um das Gebäude rum fuhren konnten.
      Wir waren fast wieder draußen und dann kamen gleich 3 Sicherheit's Leute an die uns gefragt haben wir uns verfahren haben. Wir meinten dann gleich ja haben wir. 😂 Er zeigte uns den Weg nach draußen und es ging weiter.

      Da es schon lange dunkel war fuhren wir wieder mal zu einer Rest Area.

      TULARE–YOSEMITE NATIONAL PARK–MODESTO

      First time we had waffles for bf. A long drive to Yosemite NP, stopped at a huge supermarket to get a picnic lunchs for the park. Enter YOSEMITE NATIONAL PARK, a wonderland of spectacular lakes, cascading waterfalls, lush forests, giant granite domes, pinnacles, and mountains rising more than 4,000 feet above the valley floor.       Nochmal Highway 1

      Heute ging es weiter den Highway 1 an der Küste hoch. Wir haben uns gestern Abend entschieden, heute doch noch nicht nach San Francisco zu fahren. Sondern uns viel Zeit für den Highway 1 zu lassen, was auf jeden Fall eine gute Entscheidung war. Wir sind jetzt kurz vor S.F. haben dann morgen nur einen kurzen Weg. Die Küstenstraße ist mehr als eine Reise Wert. Die Landschaft einmalig. Man könnte alle paar Meter anhalten und Fotos machen. Heute war es auch nicht ganz so heiß und im Tal sehr viel Nebel, was richtig gut aussah.Read more
