  • Day 23 Mansilla de las Mulas to Leon

    September 16, 2018 in Spain ⋅ ⛅ 26 °C

Travelled by myself. Meet Carol and Steve. They gave me Voltaren for the pain in my leg. Dad called when I was changing my boots. My first toenail has fallen. Met Emma and Sascha in cafe Aiora.
We walked to our apartment. Lovely lady. Emma and Sascha think that they have bad bugs. They want to wash everything and rest of the stuff was put in the freezer. I went and had a long bath. Feels great to this confort. Went grocery shopping. It feels good yo have a food around. Finally managed to go to the cathedral. Somehow the city is not having a great vibe as Burgos. Emma is disappointed as well. She is very moody. We decide to go for a chocolate coffee with lots of wiping cream and churros. It feels good and bad in same time. Meet Lillian too. Walk around and find Goudi museum. Amund commented that I am more Scandinavian girl than Mediterranian. Going back to the Cathedral yo meet Bernard. We are looking for tapas but they ain't have tapas the way we learnt in Navara region. They serve small bits with drinks and that is considered tapas. Finally we get our sangria and after that we walk back to the apartment. It is time to go to bad.Read more

The tour through the cathedral was an amazing. The stain glass supported with the light going through was making a experience a unlike one. We all were fascinated. Lillian was wondering how was possible that the city of only 5000 population could do that. On which expenses was that done. It was 2pm, time for siesta. We decided to go home. And meet later on for more site sighting.
Had a little rest and went back to the Basilica for wonder around. Very nice atmosphere and good vibe for a prayer. After that we went to Cluster and Museum adjacent yo the Cathedral. Stayed there for a good few hours. Came out tired and stuffed eith all this art fact. Meet Jenifer and wanted yo stay for a dinner but than decided to go home and make pasta with the pesto.

It turned out that eggs weren't cooked so I tried ti cook them in microwave but didn't work. Finally I put them in rubbish bin. It was time to go. Was already 10 past 7. Lillian was looking forward to the shorter day but when I informed her that the day is only slightly shorter than day before. She wasn't happy and said she will be moaning. We walked what looked long time and got concerned that we are not on the right way so we googled and found out an alternative way to the nearest town on the Camino route. It turns out it was a wrong way but somehow we managed to get on the right route. It wasn't very interesting way. Walking on the tart road. We stopped after a few 8 kilometres to have coffee. We were missing Jenifer and the path was so uninteresting. I talked with Lillian about her relationship with her husbands family. And about the bond dome families share. We meet Brazilian guy Carlos and we greeted him Canada, Canada.
Just before Villafranca I picked up some red figs. German friends thought that was a steal.
We finally arrived in Villafranca. Felt pretty tired and walked to alburge Leo. What a plesent surprise. The warm hospilistero was offering a glass of the water and came to me to pick up my passport and pilugrinos passport. She knew that we were tired.
