    Byron Bay

    28. Oktober 2020 in Australien ⋅ ☁ 22 °C

    We woke at the campsite. It is so nice knowing waking up that there is a toilet near you if you are bursting to go. When I woke Jake was spreading reading, he wants to read as much as he can before the year is over. Jake went for a shower and I finished the video of photos/videos for Dylan's 18th b day in November.
    Then I went for my shower. We were planning on making breakfast/lunch in the campsite but then realised we were out of Ketchup. We set off for Woolworths to get more but then when we were out there we decided to just eat out and cook what we had in tomorrow instead. It was delicious and I saw Tasha from home and away. She is as stunning in real life. They are also filming a movie with Nicole Kidman in Byron at the moment and they must have been filming in the town today as there was big trucks everywhere. It was cool too see and some vintage cars. Then Jake went to get his hair cut and we had a look around the shops. Then we went to Woolworths and got bits for a curry for dinner.
    When we got back to the camp we chatted with our neighbours a bit and read our books. He is from Cananda and she is from New Zealand and he was telling us how we made a rainforest on his property and trained the fish in the river at his house with dog nuts. There was crazy thunder and lightening and as soon as there was a break in the rain we ran to the communal area to cook.
    We were talking to a guy called Michael McDonald from Louth and his girlfriend Britney. He moved here when he was 13 with his family to Perth and now he is living in Coogee and plays for Waratahs (rugby) they were both really nice.
    We went back to our van after and shared a bottle of wine and read. We put candles to stop the mosquitos too our neighbours thought it was us trying to be romantic 😆    Weiterlesen

    Byron Bay

    We woke at the campsite and done our run. After we cooked a nice breakfast and took it easy for the day. There was bad rain and thunder etc. So we were stuck in the van for a good while.

    We went for a walk around Byron. We were wrecked by lunch time 😅
    We went back and took it easy at the campsite.

    We woke at the campsite. We had breakfast and had look around the shops in Byron Bay.
    It was rainy in the evening so we went back to the van and cooked at the campsite.

    Brunswick to Byron Bay

    We woke at Brusnwick at the oval. Two vans parked so close beside us which was annoying and ment very little wind was going through the van even though we had 2 doors open.
    We left there and drove back to the bathrooms and where we slept the other nights. The weather was spitting the odd bit or rain and it was given. So we done our workout and just got it done before it started to lash. Then we had our fruit and just people watched and watched things on our phone. The rain stopped so we decided to walk around the town of Brunswick and we had a look around the shops and got a coffee.
    We just got back to the car when it started to rain again. We drove to Byron and up to the lighthouse to have a look. There is some really nice views but the weather was wrecking views some so we will have to go back up when it's nice again.
    The weather was non stop so we decided to go into a campsite for the night as it ment we could have the fan on, as we prob wouldn't be able to leave doors open with the rain. We eventually signed in and drove to our patch. Its a really nice campsite. We drove back into the town as the rain was so heavy and we food. We had a laugh getting up the awning again as it was bucketing down and it seemed like each time Jake took out the hammer to put the things in the ground it got heavier 😆. We eventually had it all sorted and it was so handy. Jake went to get his shower first and then I had mine. The showers were so warm and lovely it was the cleanest I have felt in a while. Then we put on a wash and dried and we watched SAS Australia. We woke during the night needing a wee but other than that we had a great sleep and it was so nice to know we didn't have to move on because a ranger was coming or we shouldn't have been there.     Brunswick

    23. Oktober 2020 in Australien ⋅ 🌙 18 °C

    We woke up and went to an oval and done our run. It was really tough and both our legs were killing us. After we drove back to where we slept and had out showers as we were sweatinggg!
    We drove to the beach at Pottspoint. First we got down the suitcases and I repierced my ears and we got down the fan because we possibly will stay in a campsite at some stage over the next few days because the weather is to get bad.
    We layout on the beach for a while there was clouds out the whole time we were there but it was a really nice temperature and breeze.
    After we went to a pool in Brunswick to wash and swim. Two people came in when we were there and m they were the splashiest swimmers we have ever seen 😅. In the pool was just old ladies kind of exercising and a woman with 2 kids so no one was moving around to much. Then the couple came in and we all got pinned to the sides as they started doing lengths and announced it before they got in basically saying out of the way. They were a hazard 😆 the man was splashing so much I don't think he could see where we was going and he took out a little boy 😆
    It was good to get showers. We were so hungry then and we were going to go get bits for dinner but Jake was dreaming about the Thai we shared the other night as it was so nice and it's hard to find one as nice. So we got it and it was delish.
    We went to the shops then to get bananas etc for the morning as we parked up for the night at Brunswick.    Weiterlesen

    Brunswick to Nimbin/Minyon Falls &back

    22. Oktober 2020 in Australien ⋅ ☁ 16 °C

    We woke up and done a workout with the pack of cards. It was hotter than expected as the sun was coming through the clouds.
    We had our showers as we were roasting.
    Then we had breakfast and set off to Uki. It started to lash rain and we found a new leak in the van. All the town's were so small and not much to do so we went on to Nimbin which is such a hippy area. I think even more than Byron Bay. We shared a pizza in a cafe and had a look around the shops and left. Everywhere was really green and it was all mountain areas.
    We drove to Minyon falls which are ment to be fab but I think because it's coming into Summer it had started to dry up and there wasn't that much water. It took ages to get to aswell but we got some good pics on the drone. Then we drove to Coles on the way back and got bits for dinner and we stopped at Brunswick and cooked dinner. We decided to stay here again for the night as it's quite a handy area cos it's close to a few places and there is no hassle parking anywhere.    Weiterlesen

    Cabriti to Brunswick

    We woke at the rugby pitch and drove back to Cabriti beach to wake up and brush our teeth etc. We nearly didn't get any parking with the amount of surfers that were there! Aoife called me as I was hoping to sort Rachel's b day present.
    After we drove back to the rugby pitch to do our run. We were quite late so it was so warm!!
    We were just leaving when Jake wanted to get drone fottage of the beach we had been at. I looked out to sea while he had it up in the air and I seen a huge group of dolphins and Jake managed to find them on the drone. It was very cool.
    After that we went to Hastings Point Foreshore and it was like a shallow little creek that came in from the sea. The water was so clear and only up to our knees. So we sunbatheded there for a little while and swam.
    We then drove to Murwillumbah and we bought a cooked chicken and had that for lunch as we were too hungry to wait for something to cook. We had a look around some of the shops and got some presents to bring home. The shop was so nice.
    After we drove to Brunswick to stay for the night. It was I think nearly more hippier than Byron. It was mad! There was picnic tables under a open shed for people to use if they are eating at the park area and people have just moved in under the open shed and they are living there. And there was also loads of vans everywhere. There was showers in the bathrooms there so we had them there, I think they were one of our coldest yet but it was also nearly dark and the weather wasn't great so that didn't help.
    After we drove and we got a pad Thai to share for dinner in a thai restaurant as Jake wasn't too hungry because he done the dog on it at lunch with the chicken 😅
    We stayed at Brunswick and I went to the bathroom where we had our showers before bed and a mouse or rat jumped out when I went in which was nice 🙃    Weiterlesen

    Cabariti

    20. Oktober 2020 in Australien ⋅ ⛅ 20 °C

    We woke around 5.15 and Jake moved the van so that no rangers would fine us as we had parked in a park.
    We slept till after 8.00am and felt we needed it. We had a lazy enough morning and were on a go slow which was nice.
    We drove to the shops and done our washing and drying it cost $10 as we done it ourselves this time. Which actually wasn't a big job so we might do it again the next time. While we waited for them to wash and dry we had a look around the shops and got bits for lunch/dinner.
    Then we sorted all the clothes out and made the bed.
    We drove to Cabariti beach and cooked lunch. We then went down to lay on the beach for a while. There was so much sand blowing we were covered in it, all over our face, in our hair everything was covered. So we went up to the outside showers and washed off.
    Then we watched surfers for the evening and some Netflix.
    At 6.00pm Jake called David Power from Ballymore Group to see what they would offer him if he returned. He was happy enough with how the call went. He also contacted some other recruiters too just before he makes a decision on anything.
    We watched a bit more Netflix and then drove to a rugby pitch to sleep.    Weiterlesen

    Byron Bay to Tweed Head

    19. Oktober 2020 in Australien ⋅ ⛅ 21 °C

    We woke in Byron Bay. There was crazy thunder and lightning during the night. We had to close the windows as the seats were getting soaked and we opened the door on my side instead as the rain was blowing in the other side. We wrapped the end of my mattress is shopping bags too to stop it getting soaked.
    At 6.30 am there was a loud bang and men saying wakey wakey. It was rangers who told us to move on.
    We drove to the beach and had our banana. Then we read our books and had a yoghurt and watched an episode of ratched.
    We drove to Tweed head and we were just at the Queensland border and could see the covid tents that were checking people to see that they had the correct pass to get through the border. We were so tired that we took out our towels and lay on grass near to some water.
    After we went to the shops and got burgers and we bought chips and made them. After dinner we drove around trying to get a shower somewhere but we had no luck. We pulled up to watch some Netflix and there was showers across (showers to rinse off after the sea) so just before it got dark we rinsed our body's off.     Yamba to Byron Bay

    18. Oktober 2020 in Australien ⋅ 🌙 18 °C

    We woke in Yamba after the worst nights sleep! There was not many places to Park in the town so we drove to a sports area and parked in the car park where there was some parking. There were some people pulled up there already so we thought it would be grand.
    Then the pulled out an amp, mic, and a guitar and sang song after song. It was the most out of time singing we ever heard and he didn't take a breath between the songs. It was hell.
    Jake watched a match during it I kept trying to go asleep. At 2.30 am Jake said that's it and he got in the drivers seat and we drove to like an industrial estate and parked there for the rest of the night. Luckily it was really quite but our sleep had been so broken we were wrecked after it!
    We drove to a little park to cook breakfast and use the toilet. We then drove on as we were going to find a market but they had been on Saturday.
    We went to Coles to get bits for lunch and dinner. And went to some discount shops after just for a look around.
    We drove to Ballina and we cooked lunch and went for a walk. It was so windy as bad weather is expected this evening. So we sorted out bits in the van for tonight in case it does lash.
    We had a little look around Ballina and then decided to drive to Byron.
    We drove around Byron for a little while to see it and see all the restaurants etc which were quite busy. We then went to look for somewhere to park for the night and we found a place by the sea. We watched some Ratched on Netflix too.    Weiterlesen

    Coffs Harbour to Yamba

    17. Oktober 2020 in Australien ⋅ ⛅ 23 °C

    We woke up in Coffs Harbour. We drove to Park Beach reserve and done a workout wirh the cards which was so hard!
    After I had a shower which was like ice but it was grand as I was so warm!
    We then drove to Sawtell beach again where Jake done some surfing. But he didn't stay long as the waves were so big and just kept pulling to the rocks. Even the guys that surf there always said they were nearly pulled up to Queensland when they got out.
    We drove to Coffs Harbour jetty and walked up this big hill and got nice view of all the beaches. Then we walked down along the jetti and we saw a few turtles and sting rays!
    We walked back to the car and we were deciding whether to stay another night if Coffs Harbour or not. So we just decided to move on and we can always stay here again on our way back down. We drove to Yamba and arrived just before 6. As it was Saturday we decided to treat ourselves to a pizza from the Italian on the hill. It ended up not being that nice but there was no clean up at least.

    Coffs harbour

    16. Oktober 2020 in Australien ⋅ ⛅ 22 °C

    We woke up and drove to a pitch and done our run. Jake ran down the town but as usual I just went around the pitch as I hate running around people or hills. It was really tough we were both so warm after it!
    Then we drove to Sawtell rock pool to cool off. It was a really nice swim there were loads of fish and slugs the size of my hand.
    A lifeguard asked us to do a survey with him and we went back to the van. Then Jake decided he was going to go for a surf. I tidied the van while he was gone. Then we drove to a coles and got bits for lunch.
    We ate that and then walked down to North Wall Beach. It felt like an oven as there was not much of a breeze but we decided to stick it out as it's not ment to nice over the next few days.    Weiterlesen

    Port Macquarie to Coffs Harbour

    We woke in port Macquarie.
    We went to the pool in Wauchop and swam and got showers. After we went to the shops and got food. We left for crescent head to south west rocks and got chips to keep us going. Then we drove to Numbacca heads and we pulled up to cook dinner and we seen loads of whales thrashing. Jake sent out the drone and got great fottage.

    Forster to Port Macquarie

    We woke at forster. A man was shouting in that we will get a parking ticket. So we got up and moved down the road.
    We went to a oval and done a run which was tough.
    Then we drove to Port macquarie.
    We cooked dinner a bit early and went on the playground where we were parked.
    Jake had a interview with Lionsite for a potential job when he is back. It went well and he has to get references.

    Cessknock to Blueys Beach

    13. Oktober 2020 in Australien ⋅ 🌙 18 °C

    We woke up at the campsite and our neighbours were still fighting 😅
    We had our showers, breakfast and packed all the bits back up on to the roof. We stopped off in a coles on the way and bought fish etc for dinner and we cooked it at lunch time. The tax people rang me as the money I was owed hadn't gone into my account as there was something wrong with one of the digits in my account number. So it was lucky that was corrected. Then Jake rang about his as we were open they might not realise that his has already been released and they might give him next year's but they realised and it won't be released. It was worth a try!
    After we cooked lunch and made the calls we drove to Blueys Beach. Jake went for a surf and I read my book for a bit and watched him.
    We drove to sunset lake and watched an episode of ratched and took pics of the sunset.    Weiterlesen

    Hunter Valley (hot air balloon)

    12. Oktober 2020 in Australien ⋅ ⛅ 24 °C

    We woke at 4.30am and drove to Petersons House which is where we had to meet for the hot air balloon.
    It was pitch dark.
    We took a 10 minute bus ride to a big open field where there was 5 hot air balloons. We were all in different groups and there was 21 people on our basket. Two baskets had to hold 5 people each for Jake volunteered for us to go in it. I could have killed him at the time as I was so nervous but it ended up being ok as we had good views and no one in our way for pictures.
    It was so so cool. The sun rise was so nice too. It was a bit cold but the heat from the blower kept us warm. The balloon would randomly go down and we thought we were landing but it was so it could gather cold air in it too go up higher again.
    It was such good fun. For the landing you have to get into a certain position and it kind of hops along and then the captain pulls a rope so it dosent flip over.
    After we went into a big room that was like for a wedding and had champagne, tea, orange juice and a really nice fry.
    We then left there and we went to Coles before we went back to the campsite to get bits for lunch. We got back to the campsite, had our showers and got changed for the wine tasting. We walked out to the end of the road and got collected by a guy called Tyler.
    He dropped us to the first tasting which was good. We bought a bottle of sparkling cider which was really nice. Then we got collected and went to the next one. This was really nice family owned winery. They had a goat called Kevin and they had a pet sheep that lived to the age of 20 called Sheila. We bought a wine there which was nice and refreshing too. Then we were dropped to the distillery that was fun and Jake tried some really hot chilli vodka.
    Tyler was then 1 hour 15 mins late collecting us 😅 he said there was traffic but we were in the middle of nowhere and could smell McDonald's in his car!
    We asked him did he know anywhere nice to eat and he advised his to go to Potters brewery because they had nice food. He said it was only about a 20 min walk to our campsite. We said bye and he asked us to give him a review on trip advisor.
    We had our food then we searched Google maps and it was a 50 minute walk to out campsite!!!!! We were gonna kill Tyler 😅 we couldn't get a taxi either as we were in the middle of no where. After ages we eventually got one.    Weiterlesen

    Nelson Bay to Hunter Valley

    10. Oktober 2020 in Australien ⋅ ☀ 20 °C

    We woke just before 6 and drove down to Zenith beach to catch the sunrise.
    We met a man who knew loads about the sky and planets etc and told us that we were the closest we would be to Mars for 35 years.
    We went to Box Beach for the day. It was so nice and really quite.
    We went back up to the van to cook lunch and then went back down for most of the evening. Jake surfed but the waves were not great and I read.
    Then we drove to Hunter Valley and Jake thought he found a campsite that was free but it ended up being $25 a night. It was cheaper than loads others so we stayed for the night. It really reminded us of Cledus off the Simpson's. The other people that were there seemed to live there full time which was mad. As we had a plug we were able to use the fan for the night which was great, even the noise of it was comforting.    Weiterlesen

    Nelsons Bay

    We woke at Nelsons Bay and went to the beach and drove around for the day.
    We drove to soilders point and got a nice time lapse of the sun. This area is ment to be so popular for Koalas but loads are gone because of the fires 😞Weiterlesen

    Norah Head to Nelsons Bay

    8. Oktober 2020 in Australien ⋅ ⛅ 22 °C

    We woke at Norah Head. It was quite a loud area so it took a while to get asleep.
    We woke up drove to a bathroom and then drove back to do our stretches and a short joe wicks workout.
    We had a yoghurt and Banana after and drove to a laundrette and sent in all our dirty clothes, all the bed clothes and our 2 towels. It came to $30 which wasn't bad as there was a good bit there.
    Then we drove to Nobbys beach where Jake went for a surf but the waves weren't that good so he didn't go for long. Then we cooked dinner we had beef satay. It was very warm while cooking.
    We drove down to the ocean baths were and we were gonna go for a swim and then get a shower but everywhere was very busy with kids as they are on holidays until 12 October.

    Norah Head to Newcastle

    7. Oktober 2020 in Australien ⋅ ☁ 19 °C

    We woke at the 9 mile beach and had a slow lazy morning as the weather wasn't that nice again.
    We had a yoghurt and drove to caves beach.
    Jake went for a surf and I tidied the van and done my eyebrows.
    The waves ended up being a bit too rough so we didn't spend that long there.
    Then we drove to Coles and got bits for lunch and drove back to 9 mile beach to cook it.
    We drove to Newcastle and watched the surfers for a while. We seen online that there was warm showers but they were closed on a Wednesday. Jake had a look around though and it's the pool that's closed so we could still get in at the showers.
    We done our stretching and a small workout and then had our showers which were warm đŸ€™
    After Jake had a go on the drone I read a bit. Then we decided to get some Thai food. We ate it at the harbour area and watched 2 episodes of rachet on Netflix.
    We then went for a drive around to see the area and had a McDonald's ice cream.    Weiterlesen

    Norah Head

    6. Oktober 2020 in Australien ⋅ ☁ 19 °C

    We woke up at the lighthouse. The wind was so crazy last night it kept us awake for a bit of the night. It was really dull when we woke up and drizzling rain a bit.
    We drove to a park and done our run for the day. It was tough but it wasn't warm so we both felt great after it.
    We then drove to Canton Beach to cook breakfast. We had rashers and eggs.
    Then we found an aquatic centre near by so we went to that for a while and got showers.
    After we relaxed in the van outside. Across from where we parked a guy was going crazy and all his family were trying to calm him down so it was a bit of entertainment. Jake finished his CV and sent it off to a guy he was in contact with in Ireland.
    Then we drove to Swansea and got a domoinos pizza for dinner. The got Jakes order wrong 3 times!
    Then we drove to 9 mile beach and parked there for the night.    Weiterlesen

    Terrigal to Norah Head

    5. Oktober 2020 in Australien ⋅ ☀ 24 °C

    We woke at Terrigal and drove around to the main beach. We had a banana and watched surfers and people going by and read our books.
    Then we drove to shelley beach and cooked our breakfast. It was really busy. We went down to the sand then and stayed there for about 2 hours. It was so so warm that was all we could handle. It was 30 degrees. We went back to the van and we found showers in the bathrooms so we had our showers. Then we drove to Norah Head and bought bits for dinner and cooked dinner at the lighthouse. Jake got some cool pictures and videos of the lighthouse with the drone too.
    You weren't allowed to stay overnight at the lighthouse so we parked just down from it for the night.    Weiterlesen

    Avoca beach to Terrigal

    We woke at avoca beach. It's so busy as it's a bank holiday. Jake went for a surf and Mam and Dad called me.
    We got parking right on the promenade so we watched surfers for a while too.
    We then drove to Kilcare beach for the day. We swam the waves were so big and seemingly there was some sharks stuck in a rock pool down from us so we walked down. They must have got free as they weren't there.
    We had our showers in the showers you rinse off at the sea and drove to Terrigal for the night.    Weiterlesen

    Palm Beach to Avoca Beach

    3. Oktober 2020 in Australien ⋅ ☀ 26 °C

    We woke up and drove to a rugby pitch we done a Joe Wicks at workout and our stretches.
    Dad, Mam and Niamh called us. We then cooked breakfast and we took some items that we don't use everyday and put them away so they don't take up space in areas that we always need to get at.
    We set off but the traffic was so bad so we decided to just pull in at the nearest park and we had lunch rather than sitting in traffic as it was very warm.
    After about an hour we set off again and drove to Above Beach. It was so busy as it's a bank holiday too. We managed to get parking and we pulled in and cooked the dinner. We relaxed there for the evening and drove to the other end of the beach to sleep.    Weiterlesen
