    Sightseeing London

    November 23, 2023 in England ⋅ ⛅ 11 °C

Waking up in quite a small room, we got out of there quite quickly and then used Perplexity, an AI app, to plan our day.

Ready for another big adventure, out first for in a search of food, but distracted by the Buckingham palace. With horse carts and police everywhere, we wondered what the heck was going on. Excited and confused, we followed the crowd on a 15 minute walk all the way to the Buckingham palace! The horses and police did a lap around the main road while everyone else admired the palace. It sure was a view, and we even got to watch the changing of the guards!

Past a large fence, we headed into Green Park, a lovely big park, full of trees and people with paths throughout the whole thing. Just inside the park, there was a little van with all sorts of goodies and coffee, so we each grabbed something for the morning. As we continued to walk down the street, we once again passed the horse carts. Next on the list was Trafalgar square, which was just beautiful. The weather was completely on our side, with lots of sun and blue skies. Posing with the statues and taking photos, we walked some more and got to Picadilly circus. Another beautiful site, with lots to see.

But it doesn't stop there. We ventured on to the Covent Gardens, took selfies with the Big Ben, admired London Eye, River Thames, and Parliament House. Walking around Webmisenter Abbey, we grabbed some water and had a little sit down. With a quick stop at the toilet we were back on the way. Passing a wall covered in hearts in dedication to people who passed away from COVID-19, we headed back to our hotel, even walking past the palace again. Quite a sight at night as well.

A shower and a bit of down time later, me and Dad headed back into town, in search for dinner. Soon sitting down in a lovely Italian, I had my pasta and Dad had his career salad and settled in. What a day.

    Goodbye Julia and Eve

    November 22, 2023 in England ⋅ ☁️ 8 °C

It being our last day in New Mills, Julia wanted to take us on a walk 5 minutes away from where she lived.

The hike was beautiful, right in the forest, between all the trees. Julia walked and talked, being our tour guide. We even walked past a famous factory, Swizzels. We did a lap and then ended up at a nice little cafe, where we had lunch. It took a little longer than expected to come, but it was still good. A little behind schedule, we hopped in the car and said goodbye to Eve. Going back to Julia's house, we packed everything in our suitcases as quickly as we could and said a final goodbye to Julia.

Setting on the road for our 4 hour road trip, it started off smoothly. It was lovely with all the views of New Mills, before we hit the motorway. We stopped at a service for a toilet and food halfway and then were back on the road for the last stretch into London.

Meeting Dad and Dan at a restaurant, that only let kids till 7, we walked around to find a different place to eat, which we did. We had Thai for dinner and then said farewell till Friday for the Deps and then we took the subway to our apartment.

Walking Ma'ams Tour and up a Devils Bum

    November 21, 2023 in England ⋅ ☁️ 7 °C

With yet another lovely sleep in, we made a plan for the day. Having first a relaxing morning and easy breakfast, everyone started getting ready.

Around 10:30, we hopped in the car and we were on the way for our hike. Picking up Julia's mum on the way, we found a parking spot straight away. With the weather on our side and a bit of a cranky Eve, we started our hike.

There were so many beautiful views, and after some food Eve was full of energy again. We finished off the walk through a grass fields with some cows.

Moving on, we got some lunch at a cute little cafe, and walked through the town and looked at some of the shops. Backtracking, we went back to the ducks and fed them and went back to the car.

    Off we go

    November 20, 2023 in Scotland ⋅ ☁️ 9 °C

The day started with an early morning, ready to go. With a quick walk to the Depiazzis, Dad and Dan were off to the train station, while the others and me continued to get ready.

On the road by 8, our first leg is 2 hours.

Our first stop being at Costa, for a little brunch and a frappe. I had a lovely toastie and a chic frappe. Taking turns in the front, it was soon my turn for the drive to the lake, a beautiful lake at that. Moving ahead we stopped in a souvenir shop for a sec and then found a small cafe for lunch, which was again delicious.

We also went to another smaller lake, and had a quick toilet break. Clancy was then in the front for the last leg, Julia's house.

    Another day

    November 19, 2023 in Scotland ⋅ ☁️ 11 °C

Good morning sunshine! With a little less of a sleep in yet still a good sleep, I woke up and read my book for a little bit. With still plenty time on the clock, we had planned to meet up at the Deps house at 9:30. Getting there a little earlier than expected, Asher, Dan and Nicola were still on their run, their 13 mile run.

Just a little while later, they arrived back. That's when me, Ruby, and Dad walked to a little nice coffee shop called the milkman, where we each had something to drink. Meeting the others at Dean's village, we wandered around for a good part of the day till we ended up at a Sainsbury's Local, a supermarket. Something really cool in these particular markets is a meal deal, which is where you can choose from a variety of things part of a meal, snack, drink, and dessert, all for 12 pounds. We all made our own meal and headed off to the botanical gardens, where we are our food.

Walking back to our apartments, we had a bit of a rest and then me and Dad went to Carlton hill, another view of Edinburgh. Showing the Deps our house afterwards, we all headed to an Italian for dinner, where we had a nice selection of things. I had a lovely pasta but it was super filling.

    Its the Deps!

    November 19, 2023 in Scotland ⋅ ☁️ 10 °C

Heading off on our day, we had a nice breakfast not far from our apartment. I had some granola and Dad had an eggs bene. We walked around a bit after breakfast and soon called an Uber to get to the Roslin Chapel. This was really interesting, with all its history and controversy.

Moving on, we took the bus back into town, and decided to walk up Authurs Seat, an extinct volcano. That was pretty stunning, with the sun hitting in just the right spots.

Meeting the Deps around five in their apartment, it was amazing seeing them. Chatting for a bit, we then headed out for dinner, a lovely burger place.

Last night and the next day

    November 18, 2023 in Scotland ⋅ 🌧 8 °C

Completely smashed last night, we had to go on for the ghost tour. With a shower and a quick nap, we headed on the way for dinner. Finding a spot near the tour, we had some AMAZING pizza, and I had another powernap on Dad.

Soon enough it was time for the tour, excited and unsure of what to expect. Our guide took us underneath Edinburgh, talked about what happened back in the day. Though interesting, it wasn't that scary or exciting, with no spirits around that we could sense. A little disappointing, we headed back home, ready for bed.

Sleeping in all the way till 9, we made a bit of a play for the day. The Deps are checking in at 3, and so we still have a whole day. We're going to do a lot of walking again today.

    We made it!

    November 17, 2023 in Australia ⋅ 🌙 24 °C

Hey England! We made it with an easy flight, barely any turbulence, fancy tvs and no crying kids. With plenty of sleep and having re-watched all the Hunger Games, pretty happy.

Though freezing outside, everywhere else is sweltering hot. It was a bit of a struggle to find a taxi or train to get to the next airport, but thankfully it wasn't raining and we soon got an Uber. Brazilian Henrique was very nice, and had an electric car. Arrived at the Luton airport with information that the airport had caught fire a couple weeks back. Blocked off in almost every direction, it was super hectic outside, even more inside the building. The building being smaller than Perth Airport but with way larger crowds.

Perfectly on time for our flight, we stopped for some food and had a delicious crepe.

    Exploring the City

    November 17, 2023 in Scotland ⋅ ☁️ 6 °C

Arriving and at our hotel reception before 12:00, we were right on time. Starting to get a little hungry, we dropped off our bags with the lovely Scottish lady, and headed into beautiful Scotland for some lunch and much needed exploring.

I had pasta and a chai latte for lunch in a cute little cafe not far from reception. After finishing our meals, we headed to the first place on our list, the castle. Though impressive from the outside, it was a bit of a let down on the inside. We did get to watch the 1:00 canon which was quite thrilling. Quite a few museums that didn't quite interest Dad and a couple really old buildings that were rather fascinating.

After the castle, we walked through town admiring the pretty buildings and cobblestone streets, just wandering. We walked back to reception after a hot choc and grabbed our bags, ready for a final walk of the day to our beautiful apartment.
