What a day!

View from the balcony at dawn and before we started out, a photo on the balcony of the four intrepid explorers. Early start to get a bus and then a 2 hour train to Katoomba passing the Queen Victoria building that is a shopping mall and a sign that said George Street 🙂.

On the train… recognition at last as we pass the Dr George Munro Bridge 😂. Arrived at Katoomba and walked through the town and saw a policeman on duty 😄

Once we got to the Blue Mountains, I’m glad to say I recognized the Three Sisters and the surrounding landscape having been driven there by Uncle Sammy and Aunt Emma 23 years ago, when Abbie, Ruth (my cousin from Perth) and I stayed with them. Richard asked an attendant about the various options to go down to the bush floor. We decided against the cost of $55 each for the cable car etc. when told it was only 1000 steps down, an hour’s walk to the next set of steps that were much easier to climb, so we should go the free way. Well, we paid for it in more ways than one. It was tough on our knees going down so much so the hour’s walk was tough too. Legs felt like jelly. So glad we brought water and food for wee breaks along the way though. Then for the climb up. Not as many steps but still as arduous. Rewarded by views of the Katoomba Falls (though not as spectacular as in the rainy season) and a lizard absolutely still on a log. We arrived at Echo Point 3 hours after we’d started, an hour longer than the attendant told us it would take. Methinks she’s never done it 😄… we were exhausted but relieved!

A bus, train and bus back to Drummoyne and a hearty meal did the trick to revive us. Though not me, I fell asleep while talking 🤣 Czytaj więcej
