    Cooma

    October 29, 2023 in Australia ⋅ ⛅ 22 °C

We changed the itinerary to stay at Cooma instead of Jindabyne as Bill’s car is still playing up. Limped through Cann River- great bakery - then to Bombala - everything closed except a great clothing and everything else shop. I think we all bought something there. Bombala had snow on Oct 19 on the day we were nearly blown away in Bermagui. Then through Nimmitybel then to Cooma. Set up camp them did a little drive around town. We went out to dinner for Jackie’s birthday. Only wood fired pizzas on offer which were pretty good.Read more

    Eden

    October 22, 2023 in Australia ⋅ ☀️ 20 °C

After a late pack up, last nights wind was horrendous, we made our way down the coast to rather and caught up with the guys. This a beautiful little town on a bay. There is a historic wharf which is being renovated back to original. Lots of history. Great view from the headland where there is a memorial garden full of plaques. Wonderful.
Then on to Eden to a perfect campsite with water views of a lagoon and sounds of the ocean. Yeah!

    Bermagui day trip

    October 20, 2023 in Australia ⋅ ☀️ 21 °C

We set off on a beautiful warm day first to Cobargo. This town was badly hit by bushfire a few years ago and they have only just received council approval to rebuild the main street. The most memorable shop wasmrun by a four year old and her Mum. Marketing guru of the future. :) We spent time in some lovely shops and spent a few $. We left at 11 to head to Tilba Villages - Tilba Tilba (tiny we did not stop) and Centeal Tilba. A bit bigger and some interesting shops with friendly service. A necessary visit to the Tilba Cheese Shop - more was bought- then lunch. Next stop the Tilba Winery and Brewery. In the middle-of-the-road nowhere but setting for many and a new stage to ge christened at Oktoberfest tomorrow. Then back to camp for a quiet afternoon.Read more

    Bodella to Bermagui

    October 19, 2023 in Australia ⋅ 🌙 16 °C

It’s all about the cheese factory. Very nice and we bought three different types. They use Aussie bush flavours very well. I had an ice cream with a scoop of Kakadu Plum and a scoop of coffee and wattle seed. Scrumptious.
There was also a beautiful Anglican Church built by Mr Mort who started dairy farming in the area among other things.
Then on to Bermagui to set up camp. Very windy again but it dropped at sunset. We wandered around the pretty town.

    Drive around the Bay

    October 17, 2023 in Australia ⋅ ☁️ 15 °C

Today we followed the Coast Road Tourist Drive. Stops at Batehaven, Denhama Beach, Surf Beach (a beach and village), Malua Bay, Broulee (pronounced brow lee) then Moria. It blew a chilly gale everywhere. Any local we saw said this was very unusual but we think that’s a tourism ploy.
Then we went inland a bit to Moho where the Gold Mine Heritage Town is now closed down. The rest of the town is a little sad. Back at camp and the wind blows on.

    Batemans Bay

    October 16, 2023 in Australia ⋅ 🌧 15 °C

We were having a leisurely drive to our next destination when dark clouds appeared heading for our new camp. After stopping to check out heritage town, Milton, we were going to have a look at Ulladulla but decided to sprint down the Princes Hwy through heavy rain and lightning and arrived here while it was still raining. We waited a bit then had lunch in the chilly camp kitchen - why do they not have walls!!!
We are set up now and ready to chill away (in all senses :)

    Shoalhaven Heads Last Day

    October 16, 2023 in Australia ⋅ ⛅ 13 °C

This was a great campsite. A very level artificial grass campsite made life so much easier. The ensuite was very nice - spacious and clean. Very little in the town itself but the perfect base. Lots of families on the weekend.Read more
