12 Stunden & ein liebloser Burger

Die bevorzugte Überschrift wäre „Delfinschwimmen“ gewesen, aber das wollte von Anfang an nicht so sein. 🐬🔜

Der weibliche Teil unserer Reisegruppe (wir wollen keine Namen nennen) 😆🙈 hat bereits bei der Buchung den flaschen Ort gewählt und so stand uns eine 4-stündige Fahrt mit mehreren Öffis bevor ...
🚂 - 🚌 (Schienenersatzverkehr) - 🚂 - 🚖 (selbst org. Schienenersatzverkehr) - 🚌 (aufgrund eines Zwischenfalls 🤢 wurde dieser ausgetauscht) - Sprint zum 🛥 - 🛥 Verspätung ... 🙀
Nach mehrmaligem, kräftigem Durchatmen ging es dann, in einen Neoprenanzug gequetscht, endlich raus aufs Meer, soweit so gut...
Nach ca. einer Stunde vergeblicher Delfinsuche 🔎beschloss die Crew uns an eine Bucht zum Schnorcheln zu bringen. 🤿
Wir hätten dort viele Seedrachen erblicken sollen, bei dem „hätten“ ist es dann auch geblieben. 😒
In den darauffolgenden 2,5 Stunden sahen wir schon noch einige 🐬, aber zum Schwimmen mit ihnen hat es einfach nie gepasst.😔
Der kurze Besuch bei wohlriechenden Möwen und Seelöwen verkürzte uns die Fahrt zum Festland zwar etwas, aber dort stand uns ja noch die Rückreise nach Melbourne bevor. 🚎 - 🚂 - 🚎 (Schienenersatzverkehr) - 🚂 (also immerhin etwas schneller als die Hinfahrt)

Nach einem geschmacklosen Burger fielen wir dann endlich ins Bett und lachten einfach nur über diesen kuriosen Tag. 🍔🥴🤣🤣🤣
Aber nach 64 gelungenen Tagen, durfte das auch ruhig mal sein. 😉

Day 18
Rip View Lookout and Lonsdale Lighthouse

From the ferry I drove the short way to The Rip View Lookout and the Point Lonsdale Lighthouse.
Took a short walk around the area and then left to driv to Torquay. In Torquay the Great Ocean Road starts. So I have booked a campground here for tonight and then I start my Great Ocean Road adventure tomorrow morning.
There are quite a few cockatoos around here and they all have something to say obviously. Damn how noisy they can be the sulphur crested cockatoos ( white with yellow) can be.
Had an annoying lady talking to me while cooking. At least I got some good tips from her but I was so happy when she left!
After a shower and dinner I went to bed. Ready for tomorrows adventures.Read more

Day 15
Great Ocean Road

Began the next trip.

The Great Ocean Road. 5 days, 4 night, endless blue sea.

Got woken up nice and early at 2,30 this morning from one of the girls alarms. An alarm which she did not wake up for and I had to get up and turn off. Love that.

Checked out at 10 and waited for the guys to pick up the car, and in no time we were on our way. Daisy was our drive today, and did very well navigating city traffic and then motorways.

About an hour and a half later we hit the Great Ocean Road. Stopped for a couple pictures above the cliff before stopping at a lighthouse in Aireys Inlet. Very picturesque, blue sea, red rock, green foliage. Perfect.

Got a spot of lunch down in a little lay by in Airey's. The portions were insanely large! Before heading off to a chocolate factory. We will be stopping there again tomorrow as we only had about 10 minutes today and that was not long enough.

Next was a drive through Kangaroo sighting, they are massive. Before going to the hostel. Our hostel for the night is in the little town of Queenscliff. Very quaint and quiet with a gorgeous beach night near by.Read more

Day 731
Seals but no Dolphin's

Heute ging es mal wieder rauf aufs Meer.

Schwimmen mit Delphinen und Robben.

Doch zuerst ging es zu einem recht geschichtsträchtigen Ort. Mitten im Wasser an einer sehr seichten Stelle liegt eine Steinformation die das Fundament für eine Festungsinsel zur Verteidigung werden sollte. Wurde nie fertig. Hat auch ziemlich gestunken, da es dort sehr viele Vögel gibt die entsprechend alles voll kacken.

Die Seals waren grandios. So elegant und mit Leichtigkeit möchte ich mich auch im Wasser bewegen können. Leider gab es keine Delphine. Dass wäre natürlich der absolute Höhepunkt gewesen.Read more

Das Covid Drama

Wegen der Regelung dass ich einen negativen Covid Test bei der Einreise in SA vorzeigen muss, und weil dass ja teilweise auch dauert bin ich heute schon wieder nach Süden gefahren. Auf dem Weg habe ich noch die Trentham Falls besucht.

Hab mich natürlich vorher im Internet über die entsprechenden Stellen zum testen und Öffnungszeiten informiert.

Die erste hat gar nicht existiert, die zweite hatte geschlossen, die dritte hatte eine halbe Stunde vor meiner Ankunft zugemacht. Wäre ja nicht so wild, wären nicht die kompletten Gegenteile im Internet gestanden. An der 4 Stelle bin ich nach 3 Stunden und gemachtem Test wieder weg. Nur um dann einige Tage später an der Vic-SA Grenze herauszufinden dass sich keine alte Sau dafür interessiert.... Ohne Worte.

Nach dem Test bin ich nach Queenscliff gefahren. Ein sehr schönes Küstenörtchen, gelegen an der Engstelle von wo man aus Port Phillip, so heißt die gigantisch große Bucht, raus aufs offene Meer kommt.Read more

Day 23 Queenscliff

Todays drive took us through Port Fairy -the ‘worlds most liveable community’ now that’s a big claim 😜. With a stop at Camperdown for lunch-what a lovely little town, and on to Queenscliff for a chilled weekend, a little rest and relaxation before returning home and back to routine and work …..

But what a change in the weather, cold and big fat rain, think this weekend is going to be chilled in more ways than one and we will have to find our hats and scarves 😳

What to do when it’s pissing it down in Queenscliff?
Stay inside
And where better to do that than Queenscliff Brewhouse and try their gin tasting experience, and sample their craft beers, and try their wine, carry in until it stops 😳Read more

Heute kamen Wendy und Bernie zu Besuch und wir sind nach Queenscliff gefahren. Erst haben wir den Aussichtsturm bestiegen und dann gab es Eis für alle. Den Nachmittag haben wir auch dem Spielplatz verbracht. Abends gehen wir Essen. Zuerst einen Kaffee in Freyas Cafe und dann daneben lecker schlemmen. Später sind wir sogar noch nach Queenscliff gefahren - da gab es Livemusik.Read more

Second day of the festival was just as good, if not better.

Lazy morning spent mooching around the town and market stopping to listen to a couple of sets at Circa 1902 before heading back for a relaxed lunch reminiscent of our Europe travels: bread, cheese, tomato and red wine from the Delatite Winery picked up on previous travels.

By its nature the festival had an eclectic mix of music styles and some were definitely not for us, others we loved, but there were enough venues inside or scattered around the town that we could always find something we liked and over the day got to hear Nathan Seeckts, Cooper Lower
Charlie Collins, Clare Bowditch, Remi
Dubarray (from his dancing this was def one of Johnnys favourites) Cat Empire and again danced away to the northern sole vibes of DJ Vince Peach.

Another great day. We will defiantly be back.Read more

Day 24 A day of indulgence

Started the day with a pampering sesh- a home based facial, body and foot scrub, all that was missing was the massage- Johnny??😜

Treated ourselves to an awesome breakfast at Yard 58, then off to Flying Brick to taste some of their wares whilst meeting some weird and wackily scarecrows - entries from the Great Australian Scarecrow competition

Caught up with old friends totally unexpectedly at the Queenscliff Brewhouse, Kelly and Rob, and reminisced about the days when our kids played soccer together.

Dinner tonight is local cheeses, meats, pate with a bottle of bubbles to mark the end of a successful trip, and what a wonderful adventure it has been 💗Read more

Great first day

First day of the festival did not disappoint.

Scored a great little semi secluded spot given how busy the campsite is with festival goers and got the tent up in super quick time, not bad for our fist attempt.

Once all set up and settled in we headed into the town to collect our tickets then popped into the Brewhouse for a craft beer in their sunny beer garden. Perfect timing we later discovered as on leaving the line for tickets stretched passed the pub and along the street 😳.

Through the night we moved between the tents to catch Mojo Juju, Tim Finn, The Delta Riggs, The Strides and dance away to DJ Vince Peach, who we happened to discover on chatting to him that he has spent considerable time in and around the areas we grow up in.Read more
