    February 26 in Australia ⋅ ⛅ 29 °C

A travelling day. We took the inland roads through the Blue Mountains National Park via the Bells Line Road then onto Putty Road, which brought us to where we are staying for a couple of nights. The journey covered about 300k and about 80% of it was through fire-damaged landscape. Many hillsides were burnt out on either side of the road. However, the trees were already showing signs of regrowth and the area is becoming green again. Traffic on this major road was few and far between.
We spent a lazy day sorting out provisions for the next week. On leaving Singleton we drove past very large open cast mining areas - coal is the major industry in the area.

    January 23 in Australia ⋅ ☀️ 29 °C

Another great day in Tamworth. Storm hit town after the drought then the fires the cruel gods sent a dust storm thru a town that is struggling. Only half the amount of people here than usual. Shame then some much needed straw bails came thru town. Up and down street watching the few buskers that are here, half the amount there usually are. Then off to see Murphy's Pigs at Joe Maguires. and the pig races.Read more

    Glennies Creek

    April 15, 2019 in Australia ⋅ ⛅ 23 °C

Our first free camp. Lovely spot. Shame about the rubbish people leave. Another couple camped there. They are from Brisbane. Heading back there for easter. They are full time travellers. A couple from our Jurgens group drive out from Singleton to meet us to say hello. Lovely couple. She gave us advice where to stop next and where would be easiest for us to stop to stock up supplies. A beautiful drive through the country. Coal mining in the area.Read more

    Grey Gum Cafe

    May 22, 2017 in Australia ⋅ ⛅ 17 °C

248 kilometres from home. Stopped for a cuppa. Experienced a bit of a mishap, one of my ear plugs was stuck in my ear! Sorted out, assisted by the girls in the cafe. So, another reason to stop here when riding Putty Road. Luckily I had the right tools for them to help me out.Read more

    Royal Hotel Singleton

    May 22, 2017 in Australia ⋅ 🌙 17 °C

340 kilometres for the day. $58 for a single room, shower across the hall. Enjoying a schooner of black, still a bit buzzy from the ride. The XCT rode well, very pleased. The exhaust note is good, throaty under acceleration but burbles nicely when cruising, a tad quieter than the Storm.Read more
