      Heute hatten wir unsere Tour zur Oper. Sehr schön und gemütlich. Tolle Atmosphäre und Akustik. Leider konnten wir uns kein Konzert anhören doch einen kleinen Einblick haben wir bekommen. Dann haben wir uns noch den Sonnenuntergang gegönnt und zum Abschluss ein Abendessen bei unserem Hofbräuhaus vor der Tür.Read more

      Opera and night pictures

      After the bridge, I got changed into the fanciest clothes I had... and then went to the Opera house to watch an Opera. It wasn't in the main concert hall, but that had some weird Argentinian drums thing...

      It was Orpheus and Eurydice and I enjoyed it! The singing was good, but meh, luckily it had the translations being projected onto the back of the wall on the stage so at least I knew what was happening. The acrobatics, the choreography and some well done creepy moments were the highlights. I think the dancers got a bigger cheer than the main singer.

      After the show, it was dark and I walked around a bit to get some night photos, also saw some fireworks! Unfortunately Samsung have released a software update and messed up the camera, so the pictures aren't coming out great... 🙄      Read more

      Gestern abend hatten wir uns noch online Tickets für den Hop on Hop off Bus 🚌🚍in Sydney gekauft, um einen guten Überblick von der Stadt zu bekommen und auch möglichst viel zu sehen,...und hatten uns auch gleich die dazugehörige App heruntergeladen.📱

      hatten wir uns auch noch darüber informiert. Wie wir herausfanden, brauchten wir uns nur eine wiederaufladbare Opal-Card zu kaufen und könnten damit alle Verkehrsmittel nutzen.

      ...und dann fanden wir noch eine absolut geniale App auf der man eingibt wohin man will und die dir auch mit der Möglichkeit der Live Navigation anzeigt, wann was von wo fährt und wie man dorthin kommt. Wir waren begeistert.👍...und die funktioniert auch noch weltweit.😲🌍😊👍

      So gerüstet machten wir uns heute morgen los Sydney zu erkunden😊😊😊, kauften uns jeweils eine Opal Karte, fuhren Bus und Bahn und brauchten keine 30 Minuten, um mitten in der Stadt zu sein.
      Da vom Hop on Hop off zuerst die Bondi-Linie kam, nahmen wir diese auch....und die Erklärungen💬 gab es auf Deutsch...wie praktisch....😊😊😊
      Wir fuhren am höchsten vertikalen Garten vorbei....,
      einem aus zwei Gebäuden bestehenden Hochhauskomplex mit Höhen von 116 und 65 Meter, deren nördliche und östliche Fassaden mit 38000 Pflanzen, die 250 australischen Arten angehören, bepflanzt wurden.🌸🌷🌳🌵🌿🌾 Welch ein Meisterwerk der Architektur und Gartengestaltung....wow.😊👍

      Auf der Fahrt kamen wir am Hydepark..., man spürt die innige Verbundenheit mit dem Mutterland England an verschiedenen Namen..., dem Australien Museum im historischen Gebäude, an einer denkmalgeschützten Coca Cola Tafel, verschiedenen Vierteln mit alten kleinen Häusern im englischen Stil, die denkmalgeschützt und schön restauriert wurden und jetzt verschiedenartig als Cafes, Bars, Restaurants oder schönen Geschäften genutzt werden und vielen anderen sehenswerten historischen und modernen Sachen vorbei, bis wir am Bondi Beach waren🏝🏖🏄‍♀️🏄‍♂️, einer der beliebtesten Strände Australiens und einer der bekanntesten Surfspots der Welt.

      Bei diesem sonnigen Frühlungswetter mit Temperaturen um 20 Grad, nahmen schon ein paar wenige Sonnenhungrige ein Bad in der Sonne und etliche Surfer zeigten ihr Können im Wellenreiten.🏄‍♀️🏄‍♂️
      Bondi, was in Aborigini Sprache soviel heißt wie, Wasser, was über'n Felsen bricht...Felsen, die den schönen mondsichel- förmigen Strand an beiden Seiten einrahmen...und zu denen wanderten wir und fanden die Felsen aus Lavastein wunderschön.

      Wir setzten unsere Bus Tour fort und erfuhren, wie es zu dem Namen Kängeruh kam....die Engländer fragten die Aboriginis wie denn wohl dieses Hüpf-Beuteltier heiße. Da die Aboriginis kein Englisch verstanden, antworteten sie mit "Ich verstehe nicht", in Aborigini Sprache Kängeruh...😊😉

      Wir wechselten unseren Hop on Hop off Bus und fuhren mit der City Linie weiter....Sydney ist eine beeindruckende Stadt aus einem Mix von hypermodernen Wolkenkratzern, historischen hübschen kleinen, typisch englischen Häusern, historischen mächtigen Bauwerken aus Sandstein, Luxus Villen....direkt am großen Hafen gelegen, mit Stränden und Parks....😍

      An der Harbour Bridge und am Opernhaus mischten wir uns unter die vielen Touristen, tauchten ein in diese spezielle Atmosphäre und machten ohne Ende Fotos.📷

      Sydney - Bye, bye Australien!

      Der letzte Tag in Australien ist für uns angebrochen - insgesamt 35 Tage waren wir hier, haben so viel erlebt, aber noch lange nicht alles gesehen!

      Die letzten Tage waren geprägt von Sightseeing und endlosen Kilometern, die wir durch die Stadt gelaufen sind. Natürlich haben wir hier die Highlights Oper, Harbour Bridge, eine Fährfahrt nach Manlay Beach und den Spaziergang entlang der Küste nach Bondi Beach nicht ausgelassen. Unseren Lieblingsplatz haben wir auch gefunden - ein ruhiges Plätzchen im Botanischen Garten mit einem Kaffe (oder einem Bier) mit Blick auf die Oper und die Harbour Bridge. Zum Abschluss gehen wir heute Abend noch auf den Sydney Eye Tower und lassen die Stadt aus ca. 251 Metern auf uns wirken!

      Australien war absolut eine Reise wert! Besonders hat es uns unser kleiner Camper angetan und die Gelassenheit, Ruhe und Freundlichkeit der Australier. Aber jetzt wartet erstmal die Hängematte auf Fidschi auf uns! ;-)      Read more

      I saw a beautiful opera cum artistic dance production at the famous opera house, an extra interesting play and THE most fascinating ballet by the GÖTEBORGSOPERANS DANSKOMPANI.
      For a concert, they took us across the harbor by ferry and into a traditional Luna Park.

      Sights to see

      Moni, Donna and I took advantage of the beautiful 30° heat and bright sun to do a massive photo shoot. Or I should say, multiple photo shoots!

      Our first view was off a massive cruise ship. The opera house on one side and the bridge half hidden on the other!

      Thankfully Sydney harbour is big enough to get photos from all angles of both sights.

      We had loads of fun taking an immense amount of photos. These are a very small amount of the good ones! We asked a woman to take some photos of all three of us and they turned out beyond dreadful. At one point she rotated the phone so it was at an angle, cutting out the opera house and the bridge. So we then asked someone a little younger and got some cute ones.

      Sydney ist bekannt für das berühmte Opera House und genau dort waren wir heute🤗 Die Oper besteht aus 3 Gebäuden und das Dach besteht aus perlmutt und weißen Ziegeln weil es entweder eine Muschel 🐚 oder ein Segel darstellen soll! Danach sind wir noch über die Harbour Bridge gelaufen, von der aus man einen wahnsinnig schönen Blick über ganz Sydney inklusive Opera House hat☺️Read more

      Not at all the best day of my journey

      Puh, the second last day of my travel did not all turn out as I had expected it before. Actually, the plan was to go either to Bondi beach or, as the tour guide of the city tour had recommended, to Manly which combines a nice ferry trip, beaches, cliffs and a brewery. Well, no surprise, I had decided for Manly, but in the end I should never go there. The day had started quite well. I had slept relatively well and long - in my single room in the hostel😉. Then, I made my way to "The Rocks" again because I wanted to go to a small souvenir shop that I had discovered the night before. By the time I had been there - and had bought some gifts😂 - it was already 12:30 pm or so; a good time to checkout the Australian hotel that serves an emu and kangaroo pizza and a bavarian "Helles" (a recommendation of the guide of last night's tour). Well, this lunch was the turning point of the day. Unfortunately, I was checking the German news because I had wifi at the Australian hotel. So, I got to know about the planned closure of all EU borders and, to be honest, I started a little panicing. Even though it was really really good, I could not enjoy the pizza anymore. I googled the way to the German consulate in Sydney and walked there after lunch instead of taking the ferry to Manly. I hoped that I could get more information from them. The consulate is located in a high tower, but I could not even pass the security on the ground floor because they told me that the consulate is only open in the mornings. According to their webpage you can phone the consulate between 2:30 and 4:30 pm. Well, I tried it at 2:35 pm, but there was only an automatic voice telling me that they were not open. I decided to go back to the hostel to do more research about the situation on the internet as well as to call the consulate again. By 4:30 pm, I had called them several times, but never reached anything else than the automatic voice. Well, I needed a few hours to kind of convince myself that the chances to get to Abu Dhabi tomorrow and then also to Frankfurt were not so bad. Anyway, I also had doubts the rest of the day. At about 6:00 pm I decided, that my last full day of my journey could not end like this. I went to the beautiful Hyde Park and made my way from there to the Sydney Opera House. So far, I had only seen it from the other side of the harbour. It is pretty impressive to stand just in front of it. And, it is also a great place to just have a rest with the cool architecture and the location at the waterfront. The location and somehow also a little bit the architecture reminds me of the Oslo opera house. I concluded the day with a last guiness (St. Patrick's Day😉) and some nachos at the "Three Wise Monkeys" pub - probably the last pub, bar or restaurant visit for a long time😒 - but, hey, hopefully we all stay healthy!Read more
