      Split- Städte sind nicht unser Ding🙈

      Heute durfte ich feststellen, dass Zelt aufmachen und mitten in der Natur sein, ungefähr genauso schön ist , wie aufs Meer blicken! 😊

      Erstmal sitzen und Kaffee kochen! 😉 Und nachdem wir die restliche Wäsche eingesammelt, ausgiebig geduscht, herzhaft gefrühstückt und mit dem süßen Kätzchen gespielt hatten („Können wir die mitnehmen?“), war das nächste Ziel der Nationalpark Plitvicer Seen mit - laut Recherche- grandiosen Wasserfällen. Here we go!

      Nach 35 Minuten Fahrt erreichten wir dann den Eingang bzw. den Parkplatz… tja, wenn wir auf dem riesigen Areal einen gefunden hätten…
      Wenn der Parkplatz schon so voll ist, wie soll das dann erst im Park werden??? Und dafür 40€ Eintritt? No way!❌

      Also wieder runter vom Parkplatz und Lagebesprechung: Wir hatten uns eigentlich auf wandern in der Natur gefreut und deshalb erstmal auf Komoot (einer Wander-App) und Google Maps nach Alternativrouten gesucht. Aber irgendwie war uns das dann alles zu heikel und außerdem war es schon wieder unerträglich heiß.

      Na dann eben direkt durchfahren zum nächsten Apartment in Split. Go Horsti!

      Ca. 3,5 Stunden (und einer Pinkelpause mit Ausblick) später kamen wir dann in der Stadt in Dalmatien an: riesige Plattenbauten säumten die Bundesstraße und wir wünschten uns direkt wieder in unseren Wald zurück. 🙈 „Google doch schonmal den nächsten Campingplatz.“ flappst Doreen.

      Und als wir unser Apartment in Augenschein nehmen konnten, war der Spruch gar nicht mehr so witzig. Wir hatten uns auf ein Studio mit Meerblick und Dachterrasse gefreut. Stattdessen wurde uns ein Zimmer im Keller präsentiert. Für 120€ die Nacht. What the…????
      Als die Vermieterin unsere Gesichter sah, bot sie uns direkt an, dass wir kostenfrei stornieren könnten. Alles klar! Weg da! Und wieder neu suchen…

      Booking.com hatte natürlich einiges zur Auswahl, aber die meisten Angebote lagen außerhalb der Stadt. Also wieder ins Auto (da saßen wir ja heute noch nicht lang genug 🙈).

      Nach einem weiteren Fehlversuch (das Hotel war einfach nicht auffindbar) haben wir dann aber doch noch ein Apartment mit Balkon und Meerblick gefunden- für 140€ inkl. Frühstück, 2 Pools und einem Fitnesseaum (Normalpreis 260€ die Nacht) war das ein echtes Schnäpppchen.
      Da nimmt man sogar in Kauf, dass zwischen Hotel und Strand die vielbefahrene Hauptstraße langführt- wozu gibt es Ohropax? 😉

      Erstmal raus aus den verschwitzten Klamotten, einmal schick machen und rüber zum Strand zwecks Nahrungssuche: in der nächsten Beach Bar gabs sogar Fisch- und Wein! 😎

      So konnten wir diesen Tag tatsächlich noch mit einem Dinner bei Sonnenuntergang abschließen und sind danach völlig platt ins schöne Hotelbett gefallen.

      Day 11 recap

      The plan for the day was to visit the ruins of the 1984 winter Olympics that can be found nearby Sarajevo. And this is where things went a bit downhill.

      Waking up I felt a severely unwell. We streched our check out time until 12:00 and decide to head straight to Croatia not fulfilling any tasks that day. After 30 min on the road things got worse. I just could not keep any water or food in the system and was feeling more and more dizzy. A quick decision was made to visit a local hospital and get hydrated again the fast way. After that we made it to the closest major town, Split. In the evening Katharina was feeling it as well but had a quick turn around. We treated ourselves to a beautiful room and 11 hours of godsent sleep awaited us.

      Quite scary feeling sick in the middle of nowhere in Bosnia! Very happy with our overall decision making, keeping a cool head and looking after each other.

      Reading the Rally group chat the next morning we learned 40+ other people had symptoms of food poisoning as well... What a coincidence after the Montenegro get together =/

      Mega Abend in der Altstadt und eine zu kurze, schwüle Nacht (die jungen Rallyefreunde haben sie kurzer Hand nach draussen verlegt).

      Der verrückte Kerl auf der Vespa, hat uns heute Abend alle kurzer Hand zu seinen Eltern nach Hause eingeladen.

      Day 18

      Birthday -- Belaying -- Beaches

      Today is Sophie's birthday, and given that she loves climbing, we were happy to indulge.

      We woke up early, enjoyed some crepes and headed to Split's local crag -- Marjan Park. A prominent hill in western Split overlooking the azure Adriatic and giving a stunning view of the Dalmation coast. The crag is is about as convenient as climbing gets: the approach is a drop off at a local beach, walk up a hill, past some hermitage caves built into the cliff face -- maybe 300m total walk.
      The climbing was great -- we only managed two routes. the rock was solid, lots of variety. Despite that, it was the view that was outstanding. Seeing all of the boats on the water, from large to small, and looking down at the swimmers in the water.

      It's unseasonably hot here, we topped 28C today, and the wall is south facing, the rock was too hot to climb by 11:30, and we packed up the rope, and had to settle for the beach. Kasjuni beach was lovely, and the clear blue water cooled us off.

      The next stop was Luka's ice cream and cake shop to celebrate Sophie's birthday. It was delicious, the cake was basically Ferrero Rocher flavoured. We finished the afternoon by walking through old town -- it's old, dunno why Europeans are obsessed with keeping all these old buildings. Think about it: how could you build essentials such as drive-throughs or big-box stores with old half-ruined high density buildings in the way.

      We ended the day with a sunset at Bacvica beach. All in all, I think an excellent birthday for Sophie.

      Day 22

      Kayaking, Climbing and Swimming

      Yesterday we went climbing in the Marjan Hills. Towards the end of our climb, the rocks were so hot, we would have burnt out hands had we kept on climbing. Following our climb, we went swimming. However, there were pebbles on the beach instead of sand so our feet hurt. However, the water was very refreshing since it was so hot. At the beach, we also went to a little cafe and had freshly squeezed orange juice.

      Today, we walked to Old Town and went to a bakery and got four pastries. Two of them had pudding in them while the other two had chocolate in them.

      Then in the afternoon, we rented some kayaks and paddled in the ocean along the Dalmatian coast. Sophie and I got out of our kayaks and swam around. The water was really deep but you could see the bottom because the water was so clear. On the way back, we saw a school of fish jump out of the water (one little group at a time). The fish were forming arches and it looked really cool. Today we also saw a lot of cats which we think are stray, or they might have owners. They are very soft and cute.

      To answer the trivia question about the number of fountains found in Zurich. The answer was D - 1,200. There were so many fountains.

      My french blog post will be posted tomorrow. I have to write it again because when I went to post it, it accidentally got deleted.

      Aujourd hui on a louer des kayaks on les a pris sur l'eau puis on les a areter au millieu du lac et moi et Sophie on sauter dans l'eau. L'eau était vraiment clair se netais pas frois. Quand on a repris les kayaks au plage on a vue des poisson sauter de l'eau dans des pettis groupes.      Read more

      SAND

      Today we woke up at 6:45 to go on a 5km run with the sunrise. On our run we saw a bunch of big waves because it was really windy. On our run we came across some railway tracks that were barely used. The tracks were very cool. After our run we went to the Cookie Lab for breakfast. We got some almond croissants and orange juice. Both were delicious. Then we went to our house, read a bit and packed a picnic lunch for the beach. At the beach we ate and then went swimming. It was really fun because there were a lot of big waves so we got to ride them. After that we watched a movie with popcorn.Then we read a bit and ate dinner. Me and Sophie planned this day so it was a SAND (Sophie and Neve Day).

      Aujourd’hui on est lever très tôt pour aller courir 5 km avec le lever de soleil.On a aussi vu et alles sur des rail de train qui regarder vieux. Notre cours était vraiment beau avec les vague est le soleil. Notre cours était un peu difficile mais vraiment amusant. Après avoir couru on est aller a une cafer appelé cookie lab pour le déjeuner. On a manger des croissant au amande et du jus d'orange c'était très bon. Après ça on est retourner au maison et on a lu pour un peu et on a préparé un dîner picnic pour la plage. Après avoir manger on a aller nager. C'était très amusant parce que il y avait beaucoup de vent alors il y avait des grandes vagues. Quand on a retourner au maison on a regarder un film avec de popcorn. Puis on a relaxer et manger le souper.      Read more

      Picigin en Bačvice

      Hemos comido un plato serbio q era parecido a las keftas con un pan suuuuper rico y nos hemos ido a la playa mas popular de Split, Bačvice.

      Por el camino me he comprado una gorra de recuerdo, aunque con las gafas de sol y la camiseta que me he puesto parezco una súper quinqui XD

      La playa de Bar vice estaba para reventar, hasta los topes. Esta es de arena (arena de verdad de esa finita) y se hace pie hasta el infinito y más allá. Los croatas splitenses tienen un juego (toda la playa con las pelotitas!) al que se dedican en la playa, que se llama picigin, y que consiste en una especie de paletas + pelota vasca. Hay que darle a la pelotilla sin que caiga al agua. Habrá que probarlo a la vuelta en Calaflores!

      A la vuelta hemos pasado por el mercado de frutas y me he comprado un macro paquete de frambuesas riquísimas. No había semillas... Oooohhhh....      Read more

      Der Strand Bacvice ist der Besuchermagnet schlechthin in Split. Beliebt und meist sehr gut besucht, liegt dieser Sandstrand in der Nähe des Hafens und bietet zahlreiche Cafes und Restaurants in unmittelbarer Nähe.
      Eigentlich regnet es so gut wie nie im Mai in Kroatien, aber was ist schon normal? Somit war auch der Strand nur kaum besucht, obwohl es ausnahmsweise mal nicht regnete und die Sonne zum Vorschein kam.      Read more

      Samedi, 18 avril 2015
      Split, à env. 30 km au sud de Trogir, est au programme aujourd'hui. Nous y allons en transports publics, d'abord à Trogir et ensuite en passant vers l'aéroport et en longeant la côte, nous y arrivons 1.30h plus tard. Split est le point le plus au sud de notre périple, à env. 1200km d'Orbe. Cette ville possède un vieux centre, construit dans un ancien palais romain, le palais Dioclétin, 190 x 150m. C'est comme la vielle-ville d'Orbe se serait construite dans le pourtour de l'ancienne villa romaine à Boscéaz. Quel magnifique leçon d'histoire. Au contraire d'autres villes que nous avons visitées, où toutes les vielles pierres ont été intégrées dans du "neuf", ici cohabitent à merveilles palais médiévales avec colonnes romaines. Il ne manque que l'empereur qui reçoit dans le péristyle. Devant les remparts sur la promenade en face de la mer, où les Splitois prennent l'apéro, se tient un grand marché de produits du terroir. Nous y trouvons de quoi à remplir le sac à dos d'Eric. Comme le ciel se couvre de plus en plus, nous cherchons un resto. Le Routard nous fait envie avec un, typiquement dalmatien, que nous trouvons fermé. Le prochain que nous visons, se situe vers la Narodni trg, s'appelle "Apetit" et se trouve à l'étage du palais Papalić. Le lieu, le service et la cuisine sont excellents, c'est juste parfait. Il ne nous reste plus qu'à retrouver la gare routière et retourner au camping sur notre presqu'île.Read more
