CoburgAugust 11, 2016 in Germany ⋅
Coburg was recommended as a place to visit by both our camper van tour book and The Rough Guide to Germany. We thought the descriptions of the brightly coloured buildings and intricate architecture might be over the top until we got there and found that the buildings were truly over the top in these respects and all the better for it!
After stocking up with fruit and veg at the market place stalls we had an 'original Coburger rotbratwurst' flamegrilled in a van on the cobbled square then washed it down with a beer at Coburg brewhouse where the waiters and waitresses wore traditional Germanic dress. We both really enjoyed ourselves!
Whilst the Coburg stopover wasn't particularly varied, we love the multicultural element of so many of the places where campervans congregate. 'Bon giorno' hail the Germans to their Italian neighbours, before proceeding to have a short conversation in English. We've seen very few British people since entering Germany, there have been quite a few Dutch and Belgians, a few Italians and Swiss and the occasional Swedish or Norwegian traveller.Read more
