    Da Lat

    20 de agosto de 2023, Vietnã ⋅ ☁️ 20 °C

Being the capital city of Lam Dong province, Vietnam. Da Lat is the City of Flowers and honeymooners with lovely French villas, the fresh air, the beautiful waterfalls and gorgeous lakes sits in a lush and green valley of postcard beauty.

Dalat’s specific sights are pine forest (forming the name: “City of thousands of pine trees”) with twisting roads and tree marigold, cherry blossom in the winter. The city’s temperate weather stands in contrast to Vietnam’s otherwise tropical climate. Mist covering the valleys almost year-round leads to its name “City of eternal spring”, Spring is eternal and “unique season” in Da Lat.

It’s also called “Little Paris” (“Le Petit Paris” in French) due to its French architecture villas and its replica of the Eiffel Tower built by the Telephone Company that looks like it fell into a pool of red and white colour.

Beside above names, Vietnamese also called Da Lat under many lovely names such as The City of Love, The City of Poetry, The Green City…

In the late nineteenth century, a Swiss man with French nationality was Alexandre Yersin, at the request of the French authorities at that time, explored the Central Highlands and reached the Lang Biang plateau to lead to the formation of the flower city today.

An important moment was at 3:30 pm on June 21, 1893, after a long expedition in the Southeast region; Dr. Yersin set foot on the Lang Biang Plateau to change a wasteland. He created a major turning point in the history of Dalat, contributed to turn the land of Lach and Chill people until then still has no name on the map into a famous city recorded in the encyclopedia of many countries like today.

The name of Dalat has been random since the time of arising. It is said that the “French founders” chose for this beautiful city a meaningful maxim like the European cities with Latin “DAT ALLIIS LAETITIUM ALLIIS TEMPERRIEM”, the first five letters combined and become the word “DALAT” means “giving this person the joy and giving the other the coolness”.

Bi seems like Dalat very much, but Noah just so so.

In Dalat, Bi first time rents a motorbike and carries Noah to all places.

    19 de agosto de 2023, Vietnã ⋅ ☁️ 31 °C

Being a central centre of Vietnam, Danang is evaluated as the most liveable city in Vietnam.

We don't have time for Da Nang this time, just pass-by to Hoi An, pass-by to Ba Na Hill, stop for some famous cuisines (che sau, nem lui...), Noah promised to come back and spend time with Da Nang :).

Noah likes Golden bridge with a giant hand so go ahead.

Bi still has a fever, weather in central area of Vietnam is too hot, but on the top of the hill it's quite cool so 2 young guys enjoyed the Ba Na Hill much.

Save some pics for your memory.

    Hoi An Ancient Town

    18 de agosto de 2023, Vietnã ⋅ ⛅ 32 °C

It's a short distance from Lang Co to Hoi An, only 65km, it takes just more than an hour. We actually selected a small villa on An Bang Beach (5km far from Ancient Hoi An), it's not easy to find an accommodation supplying parking service inside Hoi An Ancient town, and also we had better to select an accommodation near the beach, so we are easy to go swimming and enjoy long and clear sea water beach of An Bang.

We had late check out from Lang Co Beach Resort, just in case we can not check in early in Hoi An, we should not stay outside with this very very hot weather. Health condition of all family is not good.
Mammy got fever from the last night, in Lang Co, Daddy started fever when arrive Hoi An and Bi at the last in the first afternoon in Hoi An. While playing with see wave in the late afternoon, Bi started feel cold, fever did not ignore her. Luckily Noah's an exception, mammy very much worries for Noah, he has no reserved power, so if he would get fever, things will be terrible. Luckily, luckily, Noah perfectly escape from this disease, thank God.

The dinner at Chicken Rice Ba Buoi will be never forgotten. Super crowded, hot, waiting for long time, and food is not delicious.... we paid highly for the reputation, and we know not only us, many other people also come here because of its reputation, because of comments on web.

We were in hurry since our schedule is quite tight. There is a famous show in Hoi An named "Hoi An memory", we want Noah know more and feel about Hoi An, so we quickly finished the dinner and move to Hoi An memory stage. Noah seems like the show, that's great.

Bi became more and more tired but she decided to go around in ancients streets with Noah after the show, this is the 1st time Noah comes Hoi An. Mammy loves Bi.

We had one more night with Hoi An next day. Further talking, Hoi An Ancient Town is an exceptionally well-preserved example of a South-East Asian trading port dating from the 15th to the 19th century. Its buildings and its street plan reflect the influences, both indigenous and foreign, that have combined to produce this unique heritage site. Hoi An is also an outstanding material manifestation of the fusion of cultures over time in an international commercial port.

Hoi An Ancient Town has retained its original form and function as an outstanding example of a well-preserved traditional South East Asian trading port and commercial centre. It remains complete as a homogenous complex of traditional wooden buildings, with the original organically developed street plan, within the town’s original river/seacoast setting.

These original cultural and historic features demonstrate the town’s outstanding universal value and are present, well-preserved, and evident within the boundary of the inscribed property, even while it continues to be occupied and function as a trading port, as well as a popular tourism destination. As a result of this economic stagnation since the 19th century, it has not suffered from development and there has not been pressure to replace the older wooden buildings with new ones in modern materials. This has ensured that the town has retained its traditional urban tissue and is preserved in a remarkably intact state.

We don't have much time with Hoi An this time, in our time tighten frame, we try to visit and remember as much as possible.

    Lang Co Beach

    17 de agosto de 2023, Vietnã ⋅ ☀️ 30 °C

We need a relax day after hot weather days in Hue, Lang Co Beach Resort is a good place.

Lang Co town is more than 60 km from Hue city and about 25 km from Da Nang in Phu Loc district. Nestled between the branch of the Truong Son range reaching out to the sea, on one side is Hai Van pass, on the other side is Phu Gia pass, near Chan May port, Lang Co appears as a series of beautiful and long sand dunes. The Lang Co area also has tropical forests.

Lang Co Bay is 42.5 km long, with clear blue sea water, fine white sand, and a diverse ecosystem. This is one of the famous landscapes and tourist attractions of Thua Thien - Hue province, considered a "fairyland" by King Khai Dinh. In 2009, Lang Co Bay was voted into the list of "The most beautiful bay in the world" by Worldbays.

Stay in Lang Co Beach, we enjoy swimming in warm and clear blue water flow. There are still some sightseeing points in Lang Co but the weather is super hot so we decided to go around inside the resort before continuing to go to Hoi An.

    Hue Royal Tombs

    17 de agosto de 2023, Vietnã ⋅ ☀️ 30 °C

As the Old Capital where the Nguyen dynasty ruled, Hue hides the fascinating royal tombs which reflect the kings' temperaments, philosophies, and priorities.

The tombs are the place for the kings to relax while alive and to bury them. Exploring these spectacular architectures, tourists will discover that the tombs not only embody the lives and souls of the Nguyen Kings but also recount the story of one of Vietnam’s most engrossing historical periods, including national unification, military conquest, and the cultural impact of French colonialism. Out of 7 tombs in the city, Minh Manh and Khai Dinh Tombs are 2 among 3 most renowned ones.

    MINH MANG TOMB

King Minh Mang is the second ruler of the Nguyen Dynasty who governed southern and central Vietnam from 1820 to 1840. Minh Mang King had appointed design and location himself, the tomb was built mostly by his successor and son – Thieu Tri King from 1840 to 1843 since Minh Mang had passed away in 1841. Set along the Perfume River, the burial site comprises 40 structures, including a building for the emperor’s clothes, pavilions for mourners, and the tomb itself. The bright colors, elaborate ornamentation, and lacquered finishes on the buildings contribute to the site’s elegance and beauty.

    KHAI DINH TOMB

Emperor Khai Dinh ruled the country for 9 years from 1916 to 1925. Under Khai Dinh, Western culture vigorously infiltrated into Vietnam. Khai Dinh himself made a tour to France in 1922. As a result, his tomb is the blend of the western architecture and the nation’s traditional art.

In comparison with other tombs, Khai Dinh surface area is much smaller than his predecessors. However, the building is much more elaborated than others of it era. It is a rectangular block leaning against Chau Chu mountain. To get to the main palace, you will have to climb 127 stairs. The steps leading up to the forecourt are guarded by four dragons, which creates an imposing scene for the tomb. In front of the palace, there is a concrete stele monument written by his son – Emperor Bao Dai. Besides, there are also stone statues including the King’s bodyguards, mandarins, elephants, and horses.

Inside Thien Dinh palace, visitors will see the appearance of many different schools of art, most affected by Western architecture. The tomb is decorated with precious furniture from all over the world. Most of the decorations are made of porcelain and crystal. There are also some of Emperor Khai Dinh’s personal stuffs such as a gold chair, photographs of his life and other countries’ tributes. The most impressive art of the tomb is the ceiling of the palace. It is decorated with the picture of nine intricate dragons. Besides, there are also copper statues carved an image of Khai Dinh King standing and sitting.
