      Unser Tagesausflug heute hat uns zu verschiedenen hinduistischen Tempeln auf Bali geführt: Wir haben den Wassertempel Pura Tanah Lot, welcher direkt an der Südküste Balis liegt, und danach den Taman Ayun Tempel mit mehreren, verschieden großen Pagoden besucht. Zum Schluss ging es noch zu einem Hindu-Tempel am Bratansee, dem Pura Ulun Danu Bratan. Da dieser Tempel etwa 1200 m über Meeresspiegel liegt, war es dort etwas kühler und die in den Bergen hängenden Wolken im Hintergrund gaben der Tempelanlage eine geheimnisvolle und einzigartige Atmosphäre.

      English version

      Our day trip today took us to various Hindu temples on Bali: We visited the water temple Pura Tanah Lot which is located directly on the south coast of Bali, and then the Taman Ayun temple with several pagodas of different sizes. Finally, we went to a Hindu temple next to Lake Bratan, the Pura Ulun Danu Bratan. As this temple is about 1200 metres above sea level, it was a little colder there and the clouds hanging in the mountains in the background gave the temple complex a mysterious and unique atmosphere.       Ausflug zum Tempel "Pura Tanah Lot"

      Da ich mir endlich die schöneren Seiten Bali's anschauen wollte, habe ich am 07.02.2024 einen Ausflug zum Meerestempel "Pura Tanah Lot" gemacht. Zuerst habe ich allerdings in einem Café in der Nähe meiner Unterkunft eine Açai Bowl gegessen. War sehr lecker!

      Danach habe ich bei Grab einen Fahrer bestellt, der mich zum Tempel Richtung Norden bringen sollte. Die Fahrt dauerte aufgrund des dichten Verkehrs mit 1 1/2 Stunden ziemlich lange, jedoch waren die Kosten mit lediglich 6€ äußerst günstig. Obwohl der Roller eine schnellere Fortbewegungsmöglichkeit gewesen wäre, traute ich mich noch nicht auf einem Roller mitzufahren. Zudem dachte ich, dass ich für die Fahrt auf dem Roller meinen eigenen Helm bräuchte, da fast alle Touristen (und auch Einheimische) ohne Helm fahren. Mittlerweile weiß ich aber, dass alle Fahrer einen Helm für den Mitfahrer dabei haben.

      Am Ziel angekommen, schaute ich mir in Ruhe die Gegend an. Die Umgebung des Tempels war leider auch sehr touristisch, mit zahlreichen Souvenirläden. Abgesehen davon, gefiel mir die Tempelanlage und die Landschaft dort aber sehr! Das Highlight des Tages fand sich auf einer Sonnenuntergangsterrasse. Dort setzte ich mich hin, trank meine erste Kokosnuss und hatte dabei einen tollen Ausblick auf das Meer und den Tempel. Besonders toll war auch der Sonnenuntergang!      Baca selengkapnya

      Bali Day 2: Pura Tanah Lot

      OMG! The traffic!!!

      Of course, it could have been worse. Ray was telling us yesterday how it took some people eight hours to get from the airport into the city a few days ago. Dewa confirmed that was the case, saying that traffic had been particularly horrible due to all the people who drove to Bali for the New Year … from places like Java and Jakarta. He pointed out that the license plates on the road today mostly started with “DK” … indicating they were from Bali. Things were normalizing to the “usual bad traffic.”

      Anyway, the 45-km drive from the dance venue to Beraban Kediri to visit Pura Tanah Lot took us 1.5-hours … with the traffic being stop and go most of the time.

      Arriving at noon, we purchased our tickets and ran off to see this very interesting place … from afar since only the Hindu are allowed to enter the temple itself. Dewa said that we had 20 minutes to see what we could see. It took us half that time to walk through the market to get to the temple gates. So, we extended our self-imposed 2:00p deadline to return to the ship by an hour to make the trip out to Tanah Lot worthwhile.

      Tanah Lot literally means “Land in the Sea.” It refers to a rock formation just offshore … to which people can walk during low tide. This is one of seven sea temples, each within sight of the other … lining the Balinese coast like a necklace. With the incoming tide crashing ashore, it made for a very scenic photo op, though that same tide did preclude walking out for a closer look-see.

      The genesis of the temple is said to go back to the 16th century when Dang Hyannis Nirartha, a Hindu traveler and religious figure in Bali, stopped to rest at the rock-island. Later, talking to fishermen who brought him gifts, he suggested that the place would make a nice place for a shrine as he felt this was a holy place. The rest is history. The main deity worshipped here is the sea god. And it is said that the temple is protected by venomous sea snakes.

      As expected, the return trip was slow going, but Dewa got us back to the ship with an hour to spare until the all aboard at 3:30p. We did miss out on lunch ashore unfortunately. Next time!

      Tanah Lot (Bali)

      Heute haben wir uns am Pool ausgeruht. Sehr schnell gewöhnen wir uns wieder an das Leben in Asien. Die Temperatur von circa 30° und die hohe Luftfeuchtigkeit machen uns keine Mühe.

      Momentan sind wir noch in einem touristischen Gebiet. Im Hotel-Restaurant bezahlen wir für ein Nachtessen rund 300,000 Rupien, das sind circa 18 Franken. Heute Abend waren wir etwas abseits, jedoch direkt am Meer mit Blick auf den Tempel. Bereits hier war der Preis mit 100,000 Rupien (für zwei Essen) bereits deutlich niedriger. Nicht unerwartet stehen auf der Speisekarte viele Balinesische Reis-und Nudelgerichte, die sehr schmackhaft sind. Jedoch nehmen europäische Gerichte viel Platz auf der Speisekarte ein.Baca selengkapnya

      Canggu Day 4

      Heute ist unser letzter Tag in Canggu angebrochen und wieder haben wir es nicht geschafft einen Morning Swim im Pool zu machen. Nagut - aber das wird noch. Vielleicht ja morgen. Zum Frühstück haben wir es dafür gerade so geschafft, schnell nochmal an den Pool, Backpacks packen, auschecken und auf ging es mit dem Taxi zum Wassertempel Pura Tanah Lot. Tempelkonform angezogen (Schultern und Knie bedeckt) - viel zu warm - mussten wir feststellen dass den anderen Touris die Kleiderordnung herzlich egal war. Das war übrigens heute unser erster Tempelbesuch seitdem wir hier sind (aus Gründen die ihr auf den Bildern seht - finden wir uncool, respektieren wie aber trotzdem). Der Tempel war wirklich sehr schön und wir sind ein bisschen herum spaziert und haben unter anderem eine riesen Schlange entdeckt. Wir wollten eigentlich ein Foto für Mama und Melle machen aber das hätte Geld gekostet und das war uns der Schockmoment über WhatsApp dann doch nicht wert 😅😇 so Tempel gesehen, abgehakt. Dann wollten wir zurück zum Hotel nur leider war einfach kein Taxi zu kriegen und Bargeld hatten wir auch nicht mehr (ja, Anfänger:innenfehler - wissen wir). Was blieb uns also anderes übrig als uns hinten auf einen Roller zu stapeln. Vorne der Driver, Soph in der Mitte und Jules hinten drauf. Und so ging es dann schön 30 Minuten zurück nach Canggu. @Mama und Melle: sorry, wir erzählen euch sowas extra immer erst im Nachhinein damit ihr euch keine Sorgen macht ❤️

      Luwak coffee

      As we are in Bali, we were forced to taste the Luwak coffe ( the most expensive coffee in the world). We also had the opportunity to put a Luwak and see two enormous bats🫣

      Rice Fields & Tanah Lot 🛕🌽

      Altro giorno, altra corsa. Sveglia, e via verso le risaie di Tegalalang, terrazzamenti di riso immersi nel verde, stradine di terra tra le innumerevoli risaie nella quale non cadere dentro, sono vere e proprio sabbie mobili. Sali e scendi, scendi e sali. Oh guarda, un’altalena sospesa, affitto un vestito, perché per fare foto “instagrammabili” ci voleva l’abito giusto. E via che si vooooooola. Ok finito il divertimento. Ora passiamo alle vere risaie, quelle di Jatiluwih. Spettacolo, un caldo assurdo, puoi dedidere di fare il percorso che più ti piace, dal più corto a quello più lungo. Pausa pranzo in un ristorantino li nelle vicinanze. Nasi Goreng migliore del mondo. Tempo di muoversi verso Tanah Lot, letteralmente “terra nel mare”, tempio induista collocato su una formazione rocciosa, raggiungibile a piedi con la bassa marea è formato da diverse “grotte” dove ci si può purificare oppure toccare i serpenti sacri. Anche se ho particolarmente schifo per i serpenti mi sono obbligata a toccarlo, dicono porti fortuna. Speriamo 🤞🏻Baca selengkapnya

      Tag 8 - Last day in Canggu

      Der letzte Tag in Canggu. Ich habe mich echt inzwischen so allmählich an das irgendwie chaotische aber gleichzeitig organisierte Leben hier gewöhnt. Morgen geht es nach Gili Air. Freue mich aber auch sehr, diesem verrückten Verkehr für eine Weile zu entfliehen 🙏🏼

      CGG - Tanah Lot Temple

      🇧🇷 Pegamos um táxi e descemos no templo balinés de Tanah Lot, um templo que quando a maré sobe fica isolado, por sorte a maré estava baixa e pudimos caminhar ao redor. Compramos um “Sarong” a vestimenta necessária para entrar em templos. Encontramos la o famoso café Lueak, aquele café que o primeiro é digesto pelo animal, obviamente o provamos. 🌅

      🇦🇷 Tomamos un taxi y nos bajamos en el templo balinés de Tanah Lot, un templo que cuando sube la marea queda aislado, por suerte la marea estaba baja y pudimos caminar. Compramos un “Sarong” la ropa necesaria para entrar a los templos. Ahí encontramos el famoso café Lueak, ese café que primero digiere el animal, obviamente lo probamos. 🌅

      🇺🇸 We took a taxi and got off at the Balinese temple of Tanah Lot, a temple that when the tide goes up is isolated, luckily the tide was low and we were able to walk around. We bought a “Sarong” the necessary clothing to enter temples.       Day 2: Tanah Lot Temple

      30 Juni 2022, Indonesia ⋅ ⛅ 28 °C

      We started our day with a yoga class at 8am with the instructor, Coin. This was followed by breakfast - smoothie bowl for me and Balinese style English breakfast for Sam!

      After a quick change we headed to the pool for ‘Aqua Stretch’. We had absolutely no idea what we were getting in to but it turned out to be a combination of self and assisted stretches thanks to Coin again! Never been so stretched in my life!

      Now we were able to touch our heads with our feet, we had a quick shower and headed to reception to hire ‘bikes’. Turns out when you say bikes in Bali they automatically think you mean moped! We were wished off with “be safe” “these roads are not like yours” “please be safe” which filled us with confidence…this was clearly needed though as 3 seconds after getting on the bike Sam forgot how to turn and almost drove into the bush!

      We safely made it to Tanah Lot and and spent the next few hours exploring the temple and surrounding shops. Unfortunately we couldn’t walk further into the temple as Sam didn’t want to give a donation to be blessed and so we crossed back over to the beach with half the experience…I’m sure his story differs to this!

      We had lunch looking over the temple and passed a random cafe with roaming Luaks and bats…didn’t try the coffee though! After another hour or so of strolling through the shops/surrounding area we headed back to the resort for a swim and relax by the pool.

      Another amazing dinner of margarita pizza for me (fancier than it sounds) and Balinese soup and lemongrass chicken for Sam (can’t remember their proper names!).

      We finished the day with a movie in bed and a rainstorm to see us to sleep 💤 ⛈      Baca selengkapnya
