• Keeping it Bay

    7 марта 2019 г., Черногория ⋅ 🌙 19 °C

The next morning, I took the next bus to Kotor at the very famous Kotor Bay.
I still felt rather weird, so the first thing I searched for was my apartment. I found it in a small garage that was changed into a self-sufficient flat. It had a neon-green kitchen, a red bedroom and a casual bathroom. I liked it and immediately fell asleep on the bed. After sleeping myself healthy for a bit, I began to stroll around the small town and along the bay. It was really astounding to see this, really. I walked up until Galebova stijena, then I made my way back to take some more medicine.Читать далее

  • Walking Me Sick

    6 марта 2019 г., Черногория ⋅ ☁️ 15 °C

The next morning, I didn't feel particularly good. To be quite frank, I felt very ill. But I wanted to go to Sveti Stefan today, which is a little offshore island. So, I packed my backpack, put my GPS on and off I went. Google Maps said it would be a 2-hour walk and 9km. I wandered alongside the shore, always one eye at the beach and one eye on the (more or less) beautiful murals on the way. But after finishing about 80% of the way... I just couldn't breath properly anymore. My eyesight was beginning to fail me and I just couldn't feel my legs anymore. Sweating, I sat down tried to steady myself. After a while, decided to ask my way around a taxi that could bring me home again. I found one and was so happy when I could lay down at the apartment. After a 2-hour nap, I somehow maneuvered myself to the shops to get me some food and medicine. Next to that, I found the best treat ever: Strudle. I just love Strudle. I bought a bunch of them to "feed my illness away".Читать далее

  • Pure Atmosphere

    5 марта 2019 г., Черногория ⋅ ☁️ 16 °C

The next day, I left my apartment going toward the Old City Centre. The atmosphere there is so gigantic. It's so rustic and full of lost life, it's hard to describe. It feels vibrant and then again extremely calm and serene, just as everywhere in Montenegro until now. Right next to the Old City the beach begins and obviously, I went to see it. I was the only person there - weird in early spring, I know - and enjoyed the solitude. Waves were crashing against the shore and I understood why the cliffs were like they were. I found the the Ballerina and myself a little cave. Inside the sound of the waves were deafening. After soaking in the vibe, I went back in the direction of the Dukley Marina where I wandered along the Beach Greco until I settled down for a pizza.Читать далее

  • Mountain Hopping

    4 марта 2019 г., Черногория ⋅ 🌙 10 °C

The next day, I left my hostel early after not sleeping well. I made my way to the bus station getting into a bus to Ostrog. The scenery was green and grey and wide. I jumped off the bus and looked around. The monastery I wanted to visit was on the very top of the mountain infront of me. The hell would I walk up there. So I looked around and found a driver that would actually drive me up the hill. The street wound itself in hundreds of curves up and up and up until we finally arrived. I told my driver to wait for about an hour while I was looking at everything the religious site had to offer. It was a stunning view and a very calm and serene atmosphere around the monastery. After the hour, I went back to the driver that would bring me to Cetinje. Here, I explored a bit the city and found the beautiful estate of the Monastery of Cetinje where I decided to sinfully make a playground out of it.
After damning my soul, I looked around for another driver who could bring me to the Mausoleum of Petar II Petrovic-Njegos in Lovcen Nationalpark. I didn't need long and found a man who drove me onto the next mountain. As sunny and spring-like it was, as cold and snowy it was here. The higher we rose, the more snow lay around the trees up until the point where we couldn't drive anymore. So, I jumped out of the car and convinced my driver to wait for me until I came back. I climbed the snowy mountain, sinking deep into the white mass. My hands were freezing, touching the snow. My shoes and pants were wet after a while. Finally I arrived at the bottom of the Mausoleum but that had to be the end of my snow-adventure. I stood infront of the snow-covered stairs up to the entry. I was about to start the climb when a man from above called "Hey, you! It's closed! It's closed!" Fuck. I had endured this cold odysee for nothing. Well...not nothing actually. I turned around and saw the picturesque view I had. Okay, then. It has been worth it!
I took some photos and made my way back to my driver who has had waited rather patiently for me. Thankfully, I entered the car and asked him to bring me to the bus station in Cetinje.
There, I got a bus to Budva, the big city at the Adriatic sea. It grew darker and darker whilst we drove up a mountain and then downhill again. Finally, I could make out the lights and behind them, the sea. I was really getting sick from all these serpetines, so I was very glad when the bus finally arrived and I made the last metres to my apartment by foot.

  • 360° Contradictions

    3 марта 2019 г., Черногория ⋅ ☁️ 15 °C

The trip started with flying from Berlin to Podgorica, the capital of the small country of Montenegro. When I landed, the day had just started and the spring sun made me start joyfully exploring the city. But first, I had to find my hostel. After checking in, leaving my luggage behind and petting the hostel dog, I made my way through town. I strolled around all day and experienced a city that is super diverse. I would see old, worn-down places next to hyper modern looking buildings. Complete wilderness was next to civilised monuments. It was interesting.
I walked through a park and watched a wedding photo shoot where the bride looked like a princess belonging to the palace next to her. I walked into a church where yet again another couple got married and took photos. There was a lot of religion in the air, in the whole town by the way. Everywhere were bigger or smaller churches and everywhere they had little shelters outside for the candles that the believers would light for their deceased. It was calming.
I really liked my first day in the city of contradictions.

  • Yet another beautiful day

    20 января 2019 г., Франция ⋅ ☁️ 1 °C

The night at the Newport Bay Club was relaxing, which was good, because another day full of Disney lay ahead of us. Today we had breakfast in a separate event location, as all travel agents and their families were invited to eat expensive Star Wars cookies (11€ each in the park) with a live Disney concert in front of them. After stuffing ourselves to the fullest, we strolled through the market hall and enjoyed the calmness of being one hour early in the park with no other guests around. As we explored quite a bit the other day, we could lay our focus on shows today. So we went on to see the Motor racing show that was breathtakingly awesome. We had to drive back home today, so my parents wanted to exit the parks early, but I had to refuse. I had to see the evening show with all the lights, music and fireworks again. Yesterday, I recorded every second of the 20min show in the freezing cold without gloves and cried. Today, I just wanted to enjoy the show and cry in peace. So we stayed for that spectacular show and drove home afterwards. It was yet again painful 8hrs. We arrived at 6am back home and as I hadn't had another free day, I had to be at the office again at 10am.

  • Welcome to Disneyland

    19 января 2019 г., Франция ⋅ ☁️ 0 °C

The next morning we had a very early breakfast at the b&b hotel as we had to check out there and check in at the New Port Bay Club, which would be our hotel for the night ahead. We queued like all the other travel agents from the Magic Pep did and waited until we got our badges that would let us in both parks. We left our luggage and went to the Mickey Mouse Meet&Greet that was arranged for us. Then, finally, we could enter Disneyland. And dear Lord, it's really a dream come true not only for Disney fans but for all that love magical atmosphere, fun and exciting entertainment.Читать далее

  • Let's drive to Paris!

    18 января 2019 г., Франция ⋅ ☀️ -1 °C

As a travel agent, you get a lot of great benefits, when you love travelling. I always wanted to go to Disneyland Paris, so I had a look-out for any great deals I could get. Then, my day had come: A Merry Christmas Special allowed me to buy a package including 2-day-entries into both of the parks plus an overnight in one of the Disney hotels plus a Disney breakfast for all the travel agents. Everything for 240€. I was on it! I immediately asked my parents and got us the package. As it was so cheap, I decided to invite them as a Christmas present. In January, it was time. We left Göttingen, driving the 8 hours to Paris and arrived late at night at our first night's hotel, the B&B. After checking in, my dad and I went for a walk to the gates of Disneyland, exploring where we would have to go the next day.Читать далее

  • My first party abroad

    25 декабря 2018 г., Венгрия ⋅ ☀️ 3 °C

After waking up, Adrienne and I went to see her grandmother, a couple of houses down the road. I had to admit that the houses were everything but in good shape and that it seemed to be a pretty poor part of the town. But as I've heard lots of times before: "The poorest people, are the kindest and more than willing to share the little bits they have" - it turned out to be true in this part of the world, too. Her granny was just adorable, not speaking a word of English, I communicated with her either through Adrienne, or with my hands, feet and smiles. We got along pretty well. After a yummy soup for lunch, Adriennes other family members, including cousins, aunts and uncles, all gathered in her grannies home and exchanged presents quite unceremoniously. It was still a big happening for her little cousins.
After all the Christmas traditions were put to a rest, Adrienne told me her idea to go partying. Don't understand me wrong, she can do whatever she likes. But I honestly couldn't think of anything I wanted to do less. I hate partying. The one time my friends lured me to a disco was a horrible situation for me. Loud music, loads of weird, drunken strangers around and the need to embarrass myself whilst dancing, is just not for me. But I wanted to be a good guest and honestly, there wasn't so much to do in Adriennes town anyway. So I decided to try the night-life of Hungary. As my flight would leave early the next morning from Budapest, I decided I'd have to sleep on the plane so that there wouldn't be a hassle.
Adrienne was quite pleased, put make-up on my face, and we got onto a train to Györ, the next bigger city to Ács. There were also the festive lights everywhere. We walked through the town to the one disco they have and Adrienne knew from her school days, and immediately met four guys in front of the doors. As Adrienne is a very open person, we started to talk with them and I got off on the right foot of one of the guys. I have to admit, I can't remember his complicated Hungarian name, but as he reminded me so much of Nico Santos, I will just call him that. So after we passed around a bottle of alcohol (was it Wodka?), we entered the disco where it was loud, stuffy and smelly. Nico saw my uncomfort and didn't push me to dance with him, but rather placed me in a more quiet corner and talked to me in his broken English. We talked and laughed, and suddenly his hands were on my hip, knee or shoulder. I really enjoyed his calm aura and soft eyes. And believe it or not, I'm usually not that type of person, but somehow we began to kiss each other and snug around. Adrienne thought it to be very funny and winked at me whenever our eyes met. After a while, Nico asked me if I wanted some fresh air. I agreed, and we went out into the freezing cold night. We sat down next to a river, sitting on his jacket, and began snogging again. When I felt his hands wandering under my jumper, I honestly thought a bit too long whether we wouldn't freeze to death if we'd fuck outside, on Christmas day. Luckily, my brain restarted itself a second before I could decide differently, and stopped me from putting my life on the line, telling him to stop. He immediately accepted my decision and kept his hands to himself. Then I looked at my watch, realizing that I had to get back to Adriennes home to get my stuff to actually catch my flight back to Berlin. I jumped up in a hurry, dragging Nico along, trying desperately to find Adrienne. When we found her, she was relieved too, as she had searched for me as well. Both stressed, we got back to the train station and had to wait for the next train. We had missed the train that we wanted to take, so it would be a close call whether I'd be able to gather my things. To comfort me, Nico decided to stick with us and held my hand, trying to calm me down. He was such a lovely guy! An hour later, our train arrived and Nico actually got into the train as well, although he lived in Györ, just to make sure, we'd arrive at home safely. A couple of minutes and we arrived in Ács. I kissed him Goodbye and he wished me Farewell. That would have been the nicest Christmas love story, I'd ever live through myself. But there was no time to swell in memories just yet, as we had to run to Adriennes home, gather my things and get back to the next train to Budapest in under 10 mins. Luckily, her home was just 2 mins from the train station. She wished me luck and said, "See you in school next year", then I was gone.

  • Christmas Eve

    24 декабря 2018 г., Венгрия ⋅ 🌧 5 °C

I got up early to explore the most of Budapest before getting on the train to Adriennes hometown. So I climbed up the Buda (hilly) side of the town (pest means flat) to the Royal palace and had an amazing view over the city. As it became too cold in the wind, I quickly decided to go back down to the Danube river. Wandering a bit up and down the river, I stumbled upon a church service happening in the St.-Stephans-Basilika where I warmed my cold feet. When that was over, I hopped on the next train to Ács, arriving there in under an hour. I was greeted warmly not only from Adrienne, but also her mother and brother. We gathered around the beautifully decorated Xmas tree and I even got a gift from them, which I haven't expected at all. Thankfully, I could hand out some presents as well. Although I've never met Adriennes family before, they welcomed me to this traditionally family based holiday, as if I've always been there. I was quite thankful for that experience.Читать далее

  • Lights of Budapest

    23 декабря 2018 г., Венгрия ⋅ ☁️ 8 °C

Today I flew from Berlin to Budapest and checked into my hostel where I would stay one night before getting on a train to my friends' hometown the next day. As I wouldn't get much time, I immediately took off and discovered the enlightened streets of Budapest. Everywhere, there were Xmas lights and the atmosphere was amazing. I usually hate all the stress and consumerist trouble, Christmas brings, but here I was free and had nowhere to go except where I wanted to. So I bought myself a Lagos and strolled through the Christmas market. When I discovered one of my absolute favourite types of dessert, chimney cake, with ice cream in it, I couldn't resist. Completely overeaten, I had to wander off the calories and found myself at the Danube river. Suddenly, I realized a bunch of stone shoes beside the river and read the sign next to them, interested. They embodied the deaths of Hungarian Jews losing their lives in WWII. A little thoughtful, I went on to explore the city some more.Читать далее

  • Lights of Berlin

    22 декабря 2018 г., Германия ⋅ 🌧 5 °C

My flight to Budapest would go from Berlin. As one of my dear friends, Gülshan, studies there, I had the idea to visit her. She picked me up from the train station, and we went out for dinner to one of the million veggie restaurants in Berlin. I actually quite liked the Indian food, especially the dessert at the end. I also liked Gülshans nice little student's flat with its green atmosphere downstairs in the hall. After our stomachs were filled, we headed out to see the beautiful Xmas lights of Berlin. I always liked the capital city of Germany, as it usually gave me a feeling of freedom. But today it was especially beautiful. We really enjoyed ourselves even though it was quite wet and cold. And when I saw a huge Xmas present made of lights, I had to ask Gülshan to take a picture of me.Читать далее

  • Skiing, WWII and forest vibes

    10 ноября 2018 г., Австрия ⋅ ☁️ 11 °C

The next morning, we drove to the Bergisel Schanze where the Winter Olympics took place. It's very hard imagining people doing such dangerous things voluntarily. But hey, everyone gets their adrenaline rush from something else. After we decided on never doing this ourselves, we drove back to the city centre of Innsbruck to visit a WWII museum. The whole day, Tobi and I acted just as friends, but suddenly, he decided to just kiss me, as if we were a couple. Tbh, I didn't like it that much. I liked him, but just as a flirt and a bit of fun. Nothing really romantic there, although I would have thought differently from myself. We finished our half-hearted tour around the museum and went to see the Ambras palace from the outside. Then, we made our way back to Tobi, as he wanted to show me his favourite place around the house. So, we took Tobi's dog Fritzi on a walk in the forest. When it got darker, we headed back home to be surprised by his mother. She had baked me Sachertorte! I was in love with this woman. I could take two pieces of cake with me on the train ride back home, which I thankfully did. And it was delicious.Читать далее

  • Mountains everywhere

    9 ноября 2018 г., Австрия ⋅ ☁️ 10 °C

When waking up, the train had arrived in the Alps region. I've never been in the Alps before, so I couldn't tear my eyes off of that view. These mountains were so huge! It looked so ridiculous, making me feel so small. But I had no time to really appreciate the Alps, as we were arriving at Innsbruck. I packed my things in a hurry and jumped out of my last night's accommodation, into the arms of Tobi. He greeted me rather passionately, I haven't expected that much of him. He told me that his mother had sent him to shop for groceries, so we went into the next shop and got something called "Erdäpfelkäs", which basically is a cream from potatoes, used for sandwiches. I thought it to be hilarious, and laughed until we were standing at the cashier. After paying our groceries, we got into his car and he drove us home. This ride was visually so pleasing as we had to drive higher and higher. Innsbruck lays in a valley, and Tobi and his mother live at the top of one of the surrounding mountains. Everything is breathtaking. The height, the view, the pressure on my ears. But it's just beautiful, and I finally understood people who liked the mountains. I began to like them as well. We offloaded everything from our shopping, and I was greeted as a long-lost relative by Tobi's mother. Then I got a tour around their huge house and was stunned by the view they had over the Innsbruck valley. They had to be so rich to be able to afford this house! Anyway, I loved it. As Tobi had to help his stepdad with something around the house, I decided to have a stroll around the village and took some amazing photos. When I came back, dinner was ready, and we enjoyed the evening by watching Prison Break. When we didn't want to pay attention to the series, we paid attention to each other and released some tension.Читать далее

  • Starting with the Night Train

    8 ноября 2018 г., Германия ⋅ ☁️ 5 °C

After finishing work, I made a bee-line home, as I had to pack my things for a weekend in Innsbruck. I'd be going to meet up with Tobias, the receptionist from the MS Berlin Cruise I was on in late June that same year. As I didn't want to drive by car or fly down to Innsbruck, I had decided to travel by my very first night train. So my dad brought me to the main station at 11pm, and I searched for my sleeping wagon. It was a 4 bed one, but only one other bed was occupied. I was kinda glad about that, as I'm not particularly good with other people, especially not when it comes to sleeping with strangers in a sleeping wagon. But the woman was nice and stayed mostly for herself, so that I could feel comfortable pretty easy. I changed into my pyjamas in the toilet and went to bed. I honestly thought, it would be way more noise and shaking, but it was actually alright. Just the cold was making it difficult to fall and stay asleep. But in the end, the tiredness won anyway.Читать далее

  • Journey of Healing

    3 октября 2018 г., Германия ⋅ ☁️ 11 °C

The next day, completely overtired, my knee wasn't looking any better. As it was a holiday in Germany, I couldn't go to a normal doctor. I was thinking that I could just stay put and go to the doctor tomorrow. But after some more painful hours, I decided I had to go immediately. So my dad drove me to the hospital and I waited for about 4 hours until a doctor came to see me. We made an x-ray, he scanned my knee, asked me loads of questions and I answered all of them. After another 2 hours, he stated, that I had a microfracture - meaning my knee was shattered into thousands of little bone pieces. They gave me a bandage, told me I should be careful but still use the left leg as much as possible, and prescribed me physical therapy. Luckily, it counted as a business accident, so I didn't need to pay it myself.

In the end, I wasn't able to sleep properly for months, as I couldn't put my left knee on the other, so I had to sleep on my back. I had physical therapy for about a year, 2 hours per week. I wore the bandage about two days, but I couldn't walk with it at all, so I threw it out and limped around without it. As I needed to drive to work, I was crying whenever changing the gears for about 4 months. I couldn't do Zumba nor Pilates for about 8 months. As I couldn't walk properly for several months, my right knee had to take a lot of the weight from the left, so I basically fucked both of my knees in the end. I still can't do all the positions in Yoga or Pilates and whenever I put too much pressure on either of my knees, they hurt. I can't twist my knee during dancing, as it hurts immediately.

This accident showed me, how much we want from our body, day in, day out. And I'm very happy that I can still do most of the things with it.

  • Leaving with a Bang!

    2 октября 2018 г., Тунис ⋅ 🌧 17 °C

The next morning we were about to fly home in the morning. So, I woke up early and made my way to the breakfast room. It was raining the first time since we landed in Tunisia. It was light rain, and I wasn't bothered much. That is, until I happily jumped on top of the first step of the marble staircase, wet from the rain. Well... As you can imagine, rain makes marble pretty slippery. And so, my right foot slipped down the stairs and my left knee stopped my journey down. The shock left me with an immense portion of pain, and tears started falling in streams. It took about 5 mins until a hotel boy found me crying my heart out. I couldn't move. My right leg was open and bloody, my left knee hurt as fuck. My coccyx was my least concern. After another 10 mins I was finally able to stand up - only with a lot of help though - and limp to the breakfast room. News are travelling fast in a hotel, so the other group members have already heard of my accident and offered to bring me food to my table. I didn't want their help that much, so I dragged myself to the buffet, still crying. In hindsight, I should have just accepted their help and stay fucking put. As our flight would depart in abut three hours, and we had to drive to the airport, there was no time for me to get to a doctor in Tunisia. So, one of the friendly hotel boys collected the luggage from my room and brought me to the bus. I was silently crying the whole hour driving to the airport, holding my knee. At the airport, Jennifer wanted to take my luggage, but actually, it helped me to walk as I could put a lot of my weight on that instead of on my knee. So, I stood at the Check-in and at the queue for Security as everyone else. My knee burning and growing thicker every second. I never felt more helpless to that day. The flight was quite short, but as I had to take trains from Düsseldorf to Göttingen, there was a very long journey for me ahead. I had to get through three train rides, two changes of the tracks. Each time, going stairs up and down. Once, a man seemed to have noticed my silent tears and helped me to carry my huge luggage up the stairs. At that moment, I found my belief in the good human nature - and lost it with every other person, leaving me alone in my despair. When I finally arrived in Göttingen, my dad picked me up. He didn't know about my accident yet, so he was rather surprised when I fell into his arms, sobbing my lungs out. That was the most horrible journey I've ever had to get through - until that day - and I was just so happy, to finally be able to rest. Arriving at home, I pulled my trousers off and my mom gasped. My knee was about three times the usual size and just looked awfully red and swollen. My right leg wasn't as bad, it could be helped with a bit of Bepanthen. We put ice on my knee and hoped for the best. That night, I couldn't sleep at all because of the hurting.Читать далее

  • Beach and Medina

    1 октября 2018 г., Тунис ⋅ 🌙 21 °C

Raising early, I wanted to enjoy the empty beach at least for one hour, before the next hotel sightings would flood my brain. The hotel seemed to house only my group that time, as the whole beach was empty, but maybe the tourists just wanted to have a sleep-in. After I dried in the sun, I made my way to get some breakfast and make myself ready for another day full of hotels. We visited another 3 hotels in the Medina (old town centre) of Hammamet. It was quite lovely to see all the old, mighty stone walls around us. We also went to see the little harbour of Hammamet. At night, we had a special surprise coming. We would be going to a Scheherazade Show with belly dancing, sword fighting and traditional Tunisian dinner. I thought, that would be the perfect situation to introduce my new dress. Wearing this, I felt as if I wasn't that much of a tourist watching this amazing show on our last night in Tunisia.Читать далее

  • Old Romans and the African Santorini

    30 сентября 2018 г., Тунис ⋅ ☁️ 24 °C

This morning, we filled our tummies with breakfast one last time in the Selection Kantaoui Bay and checked out. Today, we would travel to Hammamet, where our next hotel would be. On our schedule today was culture, though, no real hotel sightings. Our bus drove us for about 2hrs to Carthago, an old Roman city that has only left ruins. On the way there, we made a quick stop at the Port Punique de Carthage. Then we were immersed in history and old ruins. For me, it's quite difficult to imagine what has once been a huge city. The only thing I see are stones... well, I still learned some things. But my highlight came after Carthago. About another ten-minute drive, we arrived in a little village called Sidi Bou Said. That village has such a cool vibe. It's so artsy, at every corner you can get handmade art crafts. And the blue and white scheme was following the whole way through the town. It's just so beautiful. My brain immediately compared it with Santorini in Greece (although I've never been there, the pictures I've seen suggested something similar to Sidi Bou Said). When I've walked through the whole little place, I've arrived at the edge of Tunisia. There, a huge, old tree was guarding the village and a local told me that it was the tree of dreams. Make a wish under that tree and it would eventually come true. As it was a beautiful sunny day, we could look very far, and I thought, I could see Sicily, but my bubble burst when I looked at the map - it could only be another edge of Tunisia. But anyway, I could look far. After we had a lovely lunch in one of the many restaurants, we made our way to the next hotel we'd be staying in. It's called lti Les Orangers Garden Villas & Bungalows and was completely new. We made our mandatory tour around the hotel and settled down in yet another huge suite with two bedrooms with their own balconies, two bathrooms and a living room in the middle. They just have too much space there...Читать далее

  • Blue Doors, White Towels

    29 сентября 2018 г., Тунис ⋅ ☁️ 25 °C

Starting the day with an immense breakfast, my group and I made our way to some hotels to look at. I think, we've covered 3 hotels that day. In between, we visited the Souk, an Arab kind of market in Sousse. Tunisian marketeers really want to sell you their things. They try to persuade you into their little shops, not only so that you would buy something. Even if you make it really clear, that you don't want to buy anything, they want you in their shop - because where other people are, more would come. Easy psychological trick. And it really was the case. I went into an empty gold shop with lots of necklaces, bracelets, rings, etc. Not two minutes after I started strolling around, three other women have entered the shop. I played my part as a trap for flies well, so the shop owner let me leave without disturbing me with false promises. The next stands were full of exotic spices. Our local tour guide explained us various spices and let us try them. I decided I need a very hot spice, called Harissa. It's like red chilli peppers, but with more taste. It's still my favourite kind of spice 5 years later.
After buying this, my wallet was hungry for more, and so it was no wonder that I became a victim of the psychological trap short after. I entered a clothing shop with lots of beautiful Arabic dresses and after falling in love with a midnight blue one, I had to at least try it on. Damn it, it fitted rather nice. So, I spent a bit of money for it (it was actually only €20, but in Tunisian Dinar it felt way more) and decided "No more spending today". It worked, as I could walk behind the other group members without spending any more money. I was rather pleased with my resistance when we ended our Souk tour with eating lunch at a restaurant that had quite a cool view over Sousse. After lunch, we looked at more hotels and beaches and also the marina of Port El Kantaoui, where there were yet again, lots of temptations - that I resisted successfully.

  • Arriving on the African Continent

    28 сентября 2018 г., Тунис ⋅ ☁️ 25 °C

We all gathered in Düsseldorf, where our plane would depart on to a 2h long flight towards Monastir. Our tour operator or rather partner who invited us to this trip was Alltours, with whom I already flew to Mallorca for a day. We were about 20 people from all different kinds of travel agencies around Germany and I befriended two of the younger girls, as one of them would be my roommate for the days ahead. We went through the check-in, security, and boarding and flew towards Tunisia.
Monastir is a quite small airport where you walk through within 10 min. We got picked up by our local driver and drove to our first hotel that we would stay in - Steigenberger Kantaoui Bay (nowadays Iberostar Selection Kantaoui Bay). We were greeted with tiny wet towels to cool off, and for the first time I actually realized that it was quite warm in Tunisia. It just needed a very cold piece of cloth for me to realize it... And a chilly sugary-pink welcome drink. After downing that, the hotel staff showed us to our rooms for the next two days.
