Today we are in Napier New Zealand. A little background on Napier per Wikipedia. Napier (/ˈneɪpiər/ NAY-pee-ər; Māori: Ahuriri) is a city on the eastern coast of the North Island of New Zealand and the seat of the Hawke's Bay region. It is a beachside city with a seaport, known for its sunny climate, esplanade lined with Norfolk pines, and extensive Art Deco architecture. Napier is nicknamed the 'The Art Deco Capital of the world'. The city was destroyed in a 1931 earthquake of 7.8 magnitude earthquake. When they decide to rebuild they did so in the Art Deco style.
We don’t dock until Noon. Myron went to the spa after breakfast and Diana and Vicki went to the Kitchen Table to make hair mask for our specific hair type. A fun, complementary event.
We had Hawke’s Bay wine tour with Viking at 12:45 until 2:00 pm. One of the nicest wine tasting we have ever done. It was in an old house the had vendors from about 15 wineries set up in various rooms and on the lawn. They gave us a glass to keep and we went around and sampled wines. The also had fruit, bread cheese boards spread out throughout to nibble on.
When we had finished we walked around town taking the art deco architecture. We stopped at the Waipahu Cathedral. The interior was pretty plain.
Once we returned to the ship, Diana went to the Spa pool and Myron to the infinity pool.
Dinner was again in The Restaurant and salted caramel dessert was as good as it looked.
Retired to our cabin to catch up on the Russell Lee lecture.Leer más
