Song of Felix
The day was young, the mountains green
No sheep yet on the hill was seen
When the alarm rang on his phone
And Felix woke and walked alone
He walked through endless fens and vales
He tasted many lokal ales
He stopped and looked eyes wide with fear
And saw a cloud of flies appear
In time he just put on his net
Before the shadow reached his head
The day was fair, the sun stood tall
When Felix reached the waterfall
Where river Tees from mighty heights
It's water sparkling in the light
Crashed down and then just passed away
To old Middleton-in-Teesdale
Amazed he walked the Hadrian's Wall
He felt like he could see it all
The towers, forts and regiments
Of soldiers on the battlements
And in the distance loud and clear
The horn of a legion coming near
Approaching by the edge of night
From expeditions through the wild
After 250 Miles
Felix had left the great Pennines
At Kirk Yetholm he looked around
He walked on now familiar ground
Passed Melrose, Peebles and Traquair
With joy he breathed the Scottish air
And even the cursed tarmac road
From Edinburgh him barely slowed
Unwearied he turned north his gaze
To start his journeys final phase
The beautiful West Highland Way
He continued with no delay
The deed now done, the story told
For the last time the tent is fold
With blisters healed, but weary feet
The journey now, it is complete
The porridge and the instant food
Is eaten all and gone for good
All adventurousness satisfied
At home the backpack's put aside
Where it will stand forgotten then
Till Felix wakes and walks again...Read more
