    Arrived early in morning, knackered from flight!!

    Got a taxi from airport and checked in at our hotel, had to have a little nap then got up an sat by the pool, very hot but light cloud covering.

    Had hotel chicken and beef skewers-yummy!
    Went for a walk to pertronas towers and saw them in day then got lost in mall for what felt like hours! When we came out it was dark! Mall full of very fancy shops!

    Went for dinner in butik bingdang, long street with plastic table and chairs outside with street food. Went to WAW that advised in lonely planet. And was the only one not touting for customers and had to wait for a table. Gorgeous food- had chicken wings( my favourite) and noodles and pak choi in garlic and hot spicy sauce on prawns. Drank a lot of beer and bill was only £22 between us!! However we did stink of cooking oil afterwards!    Читать далее

    Spent the beginning of the day trying to find sta travel to book the next stage of our travels- the Perhentians - had a boost for brekkie on the way. Very sunny and humid.

    When we finally found it they were so unhelpful, left and realised that as a Saturday most travel agents close at 12.30 and was quarter past, fortunately stumbled across bubu office who were very helpful and we booked for 4nights.

    Next came the long journey to perdu bus station to buy our overnight coach ticket for tomorrow.

    We then thought we would have to go all the way into KL again to get bus to batu caves but luckily realised the train from perdu goes so 20mins in air con train! Had ladies only coaches!

    Batu caves are Hindu temple. Have to walk up 272 steep steps to get there. We were sweaty by the top that's for sure!! Caves had stalagmites and were beautiful and had monkeys on the steps. Also loads of Hindu temples and statues and a constant background music of one Hindu song.

    Then train back into KL, we thought we could walk back towards home! Got lost and were sweaty and hot and feet hurting by the end but managed to get back after venturing through little India and little china. I had black feet!

    Back to butik bingdang for dinner again. Went to same place waw as soooo nice yesterday and had gorgeous BBQ pork. Then walked over to traders hotel opposite pertronas towers for a drink in sky bar- very posh place with views of towers and a pool in the centre of the room!

    Also booked flight to Borneo for the day we return from Perhentians.    Читать далее

    Woke up early this morning as having to check out and pack up our massive rucksacks which seem to be getting heavier by the day!

    Still feel jet lagged, but maybe also from the massive walk we did yesterday but soooo tired today.

    Went to the mall and had another smoothie for breakfast from boost-think this may become a habit! Then started to walk to monorail station but saw the hop on hop off bus so decided to do that instead-sitting in air con bus definitely beats sweaty walking around for hours!

    Saw china town-hustle and bustle and little India with colourful statues of gods and elephants in fountains.

    Then continued on to bird park which has over 3000 birds in the walk in aviary with over 200 species, the ostriches were our favourite and emus, you could feed them, also liked the pink endangered parrot!

    Then a sweaty walk up the road to butterfly park which was lovely loads of butterfly's of all different colours everywhere, was disappointed that not one landed on me though!

    Bens favourite part of that was the displays of huge disgusting beetles on the wall at the end, has made me a bit scared of our rainforest stay as some of the big ones were from Malaysia!!

    Just sneeked into the hotel again to have a shower by the pool before going for some dinner in the mall-to stay unsmelly/sweaty before we go off to bus station to catch the overnight bus.    Читать далее

    We had a terrible overnight bus ride, mainly because it was so cold on the coach, we were sitting at the front so could see all the traffic lights and drivers loud music so not much sleeping unfortunately!

    Arrived at kuala besut at around 5.30am and the bubu office did not open till 8am so slept on some benches like we were homeless for an hour!

    After we decided we could not sleep any further we had a look round, not much to say really, was just loads of travel outlets opening, had a coffee and then spoke to bubu rep who advised us that boat would go at 10, so went and had another coffee and pancake.

    The weather was starting to warm up by now.

    Boat ride was quick, I fell asleep during it but then we arrived and the island just looked amazing!!

    White sandy beaches, clear blue water-that is 30 degrees!

    It is a little island with a big mountain covered in rainforest with little huts on the side of the beach. Huge monitor lizards walking around and an eagle circling overhead.

    Had a lovely few hours sunbathing and going in the sea and then a sleep for an hour after late lunch.

    Then the storm clouds came in and did it rain! i now know what moosoon rain is like! Clouds and the thunder and lightening appeared all of a sudden and then the rain. We had a couple of cocktails in the bar and went to bed listening to the rain.    Читать далее

    Woke up quite early to a lovely sunny day, but hot hot hot today, sunbathed and swam for a couple of hours- enough to get a little bit bloody pink!!
    Then our first dive to shark point- do not be deceived by the name- we saw only one shark and it was only barely, seen swimming away from us! But we did see 2huge turtles which was amazing! Good to go for a dive again, we both really enjoyed it.
    After our dive we had a late lunch and then back to bubu for some swimming and our 5oclock cocktail happy hour- everyday we get 2free cocktails each- we have tried Mai tai, piña colada, mojitos so far, piña colada being my favourite! Saw the huge lizards out the back being fed also- they are massive, some as long as me!
    Decided to have dinner at bubu tonight as have a BBQ. Ben had king fish and I had a prawn longer than my fork, was gorgeous!!
    Also some filming going on the last couple of days at bubu-llooks like Taiwanese next top model or something- will have to find out!    Читать далее

    Again woke early but quite cloudy today, probably good to give our skin a little rest! Had breakfast and thought about and didsome organising for the next part of our travels!
    As cloudy decided to walk across to the other side of the island-coral bay- not as nice a beach as long beach where we are, lots of stones on the beach and not as white sand, path was well paved but was through the rainforest in the centre of the island, we hoped to see some exotic animals but all we saw was 2 squirrels and a chicken!
    When we got to coral bay we had a look over the jetty and saw a huge scholl of fish and some pipefish. We then walked back over to our side of the island, even though not as hot as previous and cloudy still humid so got quite a sweat on!
    We then had a short swim and headed to our second dive- sugar wreck.
    The dive was amazing, definitely the best so far, it was a old sugar cargo ship that sunk in 2000, it had coral and hundreds of fish all around it, saw little sharks, barracudas, lionfish, cuttlefish..... The list goes on and on, we got to go inside the cargo holds also so almost like cave diving, was soooo dark inside but your eyes adjusted so quickly to the change in light. Unfortunately though I am now deaf in my right ear as have water stuck in it, hopefully will be better in the morning!
    Again same routine late lunch, swim, cocktails- today also tried strawberry mojitos and Long Island ice tea, think after tomorrow will have tried them all! We then walked again to coral beach and watched a slightly cloudy sunset, then back to our beach for BBQ, me king fish, Ben chicken with roti- bit like naan and also had a couple beers on the beach-was a lovely setting, little wooden tables, sandmats to sit on, candles and loads of stars but unfortunately techno music in background! Fortunately after about half an hour changed it to something more chilled! Was desperate to see a shooting star as I have never seen one, so I was staring up for ages and what happened Ben walking along saw one right in front of us as I'm staring up so I missed it!     So it's our last full day on the island, decided to have a chilled one, swimming and sunbathing all day, cocktail happy hour came and we have now drank,between us,everyone on alcohol menu apart from BMW- which sounded awful-baileys whiskey and midori!!!

    Was supposed to have a relaxing massage afterwards, but ouch!!! Was the most painful massage I have ever had, the lady advised me I was really tight in my shoulders and it was okay to cry early on, so I didn't hold much hope for it easing up!! Feel great now though. Ben off to have his now cant wait to find out how it was! (Annoyingly he came back saying was not painful!!)

    Went and had dinner on coral beach, BBQ king fish. We both looked very cool with head torches on walking through the jungle!

    Decided early night as long journey tomorrow, can tell the monsoon is coming as water changing- from mill pond to surfers on it today.

    The island closes from end October to feb/march.

    Thunder storm on way back to bubu, loads of lightening. Ben saw another shooting star.    Читать далее

    Leaving today! Boo, been so nice.
    Was chucking it down this morning saw loads of backpackers getting the early boat soaking wet. We waited to leave till 4as taking overnight bus back to KL again. Sun came out at lunch and was another gorgeous day, very quiet on the beach though looks like most people have left.
    Not much else to say today, spent most of day waiting for boat then bus and on iPad booking up our flights. Did have a good game of nips though- we found some chocolate peanuts and raisins called nips and made a game out it it (guess what you have and can keep going till wrong, then the others turn) think this will be played again!     So started our day waking up on the bus at 5am at purdu station in KL, got the train to KL central where we met a couple of other girls we had met on the islands. Travelled to airport together.

    Flight to Borneo was mainly done asleep-in fact Ben fell asleep as soon as he sat down and had a jump awake when they did the 'ding dong' before take off- was quite funny-jumped straight up out of his seat!

    Got to Borneo and checked into lavender lodge, we had a superior room so air con and own bathroom, but is anything but superior, toilet that you can't sit straight on as wall in the way and shower run onto the toilet, honestly I am fed up of wet bottom as all the toilet seats are here as they use a hose instead of toilet paper, most of the time they have a long drop and actually seen a poster on the back of a toilet door showing them how to use a toilet. The bed however is nice and sheets clean and air con is good.

    Koto kinababulu is a busy city with malls and a port but not much culture to see, went for a walk and and booked on the mountain climb in a couple of days!!

    While walking along the jetty of the marina it we thought we saw a crocodile swimming in the water but on closer look it was a big monitor lizard- took a photo on my other camera, saw another one bit further on, was very strange!

    Walked through a huge fish market and past loads of tailors with there singer sewing machines-all men.

    Went into a mall to get some bits we needed for the climb- went shopping in the reject shop for some trousers and long sleeved tops, Ben wouldn't hold the bag afterwards!

    Then we spent the rest of the evening on the waterfront with a bottle of wine, watching the sunset.

    I managed to walk into a bollard on the way back to lodge so maybe had a bit too much wine, just a bruise on my leg though!    Читать далее

    Woke and had breakfast, including a grey cup of tea-tasted all right though!

    After some rehydration after last night went along to jetty and got a boat to island called sapi, in national park, was lovely there however unfortunately a huge, loud group of Chinese also decided to come! Spoilt the peace a bit!

    Snorkelling was really good so spent day in and out of the sea.

    Spoke to Sarah earlier too as is her birthday.
    Early night tonight and very early morning tomorrow for the climb!    Читать далее
