      Dan 14 - Langkawi - Kilim geoforest park

      Dan za celodnevni izlet. Ob 9.20 nas poberejo pred našo malo teraso in peljemo se v Kilim Geoforest Park.

      Prvi postanek je "Bat cave", jama netopirjev, kjer izvemo kako ločiti netopirje po obliki obraza, ogledamo si viseče živalce, ki veselo spijo viseč iz stropa jame. Ne smemo biti glasni, ni flasha, samo gledamo in poslušamo vodiča. Sledi še malo izobraževanja o stalaktitih in stalagnitih, ter prvi ogled mangrov. Mangrove so rastline, drevesa, katere rastejo v tropskih podnebjih, predvsem v vlažnih, blatnih predelih, na izteku rek v morje in tukaj jih je dejansko ogromno. Tudi sam Bear Grylls je v eni svoji oddaji imel nemalo težav z mangrovami, saj so korenine nad vodo in so izjemno težko prehodne. V živo videt pa so doživetje. Vozimo se z gliserjem, ki nas lepo hitro vozi skozi kanale med otokom Langkawi in sosednjimi otočki, ki tvorijo ta naravni park. Apnenčaste skale, hribi, otočki, ki se dvigajo iz morja so praktično tukaj zaščitni znak Azije. Ni tako veličastno kot Ha Long Bay v Vietnamu, pa kljub vsemu je to za videti in doživeti.

      Peljemo se proti odprtemu morju, kjer se baje samo 15 minut stran z gliserjem, vidi Tajska. Ampak ker je morje danes neprijazno, plan izleta vodič malo spremeni. (Še dobro da nismo šli na Koh Lipe) Spremenjeni plan je v bistvu samo druga pot znotraj otokov.

      Glisiramo skozi kanale med mangrovami in ustavimo se na majhnem otočku, kjer izvemo kako in kako dolgo so nastajale te apnenčaste strukture. Nadaljujemo skozi kanale, kjer med mangrovami opazujemo "rjavo mafijo", kot je naš vodič poimenoval opice, ki znajo skočiti na čoln, odnesti marsikaj. Baje so ljudje, ki so imeli potni list v vrečki, da se "kao" ne zmoči in so imeli zraven sebe vrečko, ostali brez vrečke in potnega lista. Nas opice ob prvem obhodu pustijo na miru in nas samo opazujejo.

      Nadaljujemo skozi kanale proti otočku z rajsko plažo. Mivka, senca na plaži, razgled na apnenčaste skale in v ozadju Tajska. Skoraj uro uživamo v tem koščku raja, ko nas pot pelje naprej na "floating fish market". Tam imajo v bazenčkih rib, morskih listov (največji ima baje 80 kg), skratka zanimivo. Tukaj pojemo tudi kosilo, ko se na poti nazaj ustavimo še in gledamo orle. Orel je simbol otoka Langkawi. Orli letajo nad nami, se hranijo, vsekakor zanimivo videti živali v svojem naravnem okolju. Naprej skozi kanale mangrov in čaka nas "rjava mafija", opice, ki jim tokrat lahko damo arašide in dejansko opice pogumno skačejo po čolnu, po strehi. Na poti nazaj še nam pokažejo "Crocodile cave", jama pač, ki bi naj njen vhod spominjal na krokodila po obliki in glisiranje nazaj. Zadnjih pet minut vožnje še doživimo spet pravi tropski naliv, kar je tudi samo po sebi pravo doživetje.

      Nazaj v bungalovu se osvežimo in gremo na sprehod po mestu, malo pogledat stojnice in na večerjo. Sledi še večerno kopanje na željo male popotnice in počasi spat. Jutri je zadnji dan na Langkawiju, verjetno še na željo najmlajše gremo pogledat farmo krokodilov, preostanek dneva pa bo namenjen kopanju, soncu in potem tudi pripravi kovčkov za pot.      Leer más

      Dan 15 - Langkawi Croc farm - beach

      Naš zadnji cel dan na otoku Langkawi. Zajtrk in taxi do Crocodile farm na željo male popotnice. Cca 30+ minut vožnje do Crocodile adventureland in praktično smo okoli 10.15 prvi gostje. Pravi čas, da smo ujeli vse ure za hranjenje in show s krokodili. Imajo kar nekaj bazenov in ogromno krokodilov, hranjenje z skakajočimi krokodili iz vode se jim danes ne posreči najbolj, ker niti trznejo ne, očitno je, da so bodisi siti ali pa enostavno leni. Show dveh postavnih fantov s krokodili je "že videno", najmanjšega krokodila ohladijo in ga dvignejo iz vode, potem pa 1 tono težko 4 metrsko mrcino zbezajo ven iz bazena, da ga poljubijo na gobec, da se uleže en na njega in nam malo pomaha, ter da drugi postavni fant da roko v odprt gobec. To je to :) Za potujočo družino v redu, sicer lahko to "atrakcijo" mirno spustite.

      Vrnemo se nazaj na Pantai Cenang in v času največje vročine se malo ohladimo na naši mali terasici in pripravimo kovčke za jutrišnjo pot nazaj proti KL, oziroma malo mestece ob Sepangu, kjer nas čaka še zadnji hotel v Maleziji na našem potovanju, pred vrnitvijo domov.

      Popoldne še mali shopping, kosilo in še na plažo. Lepo je, vendar žal malo preveč "prometa", saj je to konstantno sem ter tja s skuterji, banana boati, parasailing itd. Zanimivo pa, ob 19 uri vsi "ponudniki" na hitro vpokličejo svoja plovila in na hitro pospravijo vse senčnike in ležalnike. Enako velja za nekatere trgovce.

      Mala popotnica je potrebna počitka in iz plaže gremo na spanje in počitek. Jutri nazaj proti KL.      Leer más

      Underwater World

      Eigentlich wollten wir zum Strand, doch als wir das Gebäude "Underwater World" gesehen haben, haben wir beschlossen rein zu gehen.
      Es gab Flamingos, zwei Robben, die sich ein kleines Becken teilen mussten, eine Schildkröte, Rochen, Pinguine und ganz viele Fische. Später sind wir noch kurz zum Strand, doch dieser hat uns nicht wirklich zugesprochen, da es auch keinerlei Schattenplätze gab.Leer más

      Langkawi, Asia in a Nutshell

      So, die letzten von euch gehen gerade von der Sylvesterparty ins Bett, wir sitzen momentan (7 Stunden Timeshift) am Fährhafen und schiffen uns demnächst Richtung Penang ein, letzte Station unserer Malaysia Reise.
      Langkawi ist die größte Insel Malaysias und, wie wir vom Guide unserer Mangroventour erfahren durften, erdgeschichtlich auch die älteste.
      Für erlebnishungrige Urlauber gibt es eigentlich nur eine vernünftige Destination auf Langkawi, nämlich Cenang im Südwesten. Nur hier gibt es die perfekte Infrastruktur um sich Roller oder Mietwagen zu besorgen und um Touren zu buchen. Dadurch ist es hier aber auch ganz schön trubelig. Der tägliche Markt entlang der Hauptstraße produziert nicht nur leckerstes Street Food und beschert den üblichen Ramsch, sondern auch bis ziemlich lange in die Nacht hinein ganz schön Lärm. Cenang Beach ist auch ganz ok, hat aber, da sich der Ort direkt am Strand entlang erstreckt, keine natürliche Schatten spendende Vegetation, ohne (Miet-)Sonnenschirm geht hier gar nichts.
      Langkawi hat einen Sonderstatus in Südostasien, es ist nämlich zollfreie Zone. Dadurch ist nicht nur das Bier unglaublich billig, sondern z.B. auch Autos. Das bringt es mit sich, dass ein Mietwagen hier nur umgerechnet 16 EUR pro Tag kostet. Wir hatten uns einen gleich für 4 Tage gemietet und waren somit autark. Auf die einzelnen Aktivitäten gehe ich nicht im Detail ein, möchte nur kurz erklären, warum ich Langkawi als “Asia in a Nutshell” bezeichne. Einfach deshalb, weil man hier auf dieser Insel (Fläche etwa die des Bodensees), alles Asien typische auf rel. engem Raum vorfindet. Traumstrände, Urwald, Wasserfälle, Mangrovenwald, Tiere und Getier, Garküchen, Tempel, Märkte, …
      Unsere Highlights waren die einmalig schöne und interessante (sehr kompetenter und motivierter Guide) Bootstour durch den Mangrovenwald. Gruselig waren nur die extrem giftigen Vipern in den Bäumen; es gibt sogar King-Kobras.
      Und Sylvester am Strand, zusammen mit tausenden von Travelern und Einheimischen, Fireshow und dem steigen lassen der traditionellen Laternen war einmalig schön und wird uns sicher allen noch lange in Erinnerung bleiben.
      5 Tage sollte man auf Langkawi schon bleiben, dann hat man alles gesehen und war auch anständig an der Beach.      Leer más

      Langkawi - Pantai Cenang

      Dopoledne se trajektem přesouváme na ostrov Langkawi, největší ostrov stejnojmenného souostroví v Andamanském moři, které se od roku 2008 oficiálně jmenuje Langkawi Permata Kedah (v překladu Langkawi, klenot Kedahu). Zhruba tříhodinovou cestu si krátíme sledováním skvělého indického filmu Bratr Bajrangi, který se promítal na velké obrazovce s anglickými titulky. Po vylodění v Kuah, hlavním městě ostrova, se na nás lepí místní taxikáři. Vzhledem k tomu, že většina turistů míří na pláže na západním pobřeží ostrova a na celém ostrově neexistuje žádný systém veřejné dopravy, bez služeb taxikářů se člověk neobejde. Přibíráme tedy další dva cestovatele do vozu a přesouváme se taxíkem do Pantai Cenang na západním pobřeží, kde máme rezervován svůj guesthouse kousek od pláže. Odpoledne trávíme na pláži, koupeme se v moři a procházíme si celý dvoukilometrový úsek Cenang beach. Večer pak vyrážíme do "města" podél ulice Jalan Pentai Chenang, ochutnáváme místní jídlo, obhlížíme obchůdky se suvenýry a koukáme na nabídky a možnosti výletů po ostrově.Leer más

      Rock lobster

      I wake this morning and feel rough again but after my early morning coffee at Raos I do feel a little better. Its quite funny because I don't even have to order anymore they just know what I like. I speak with the owner and he gives me little samples of some of the food dishes, a pumpkin dish and a curry, although im not into curry for breakfast I enjoy it. Uncle Johnny appears and as we're sitting there a guy comes in who obviously has some issues. They explain that he's homeless and although you don't have to be homeless here they feed him and give him a drink. I stroll back to my chalet and chat with my two new neighbours and we all make our way out for something to eat. After lunch we walk to the shopping mall just to abuse the air conditioning and in here are massage chairs. We all take a seat and for 2 rm 40p enjoy 6 minutes of pummelling and manipulation from our legs to our backsides. The boys grab a bear but I've opted for an alcohol free day today as I want to save myself for tomorrow. We sit on the beach for half an hour but its so hot today we make our way back towards base. We stop off in Cinnamon and I enjoy a cold coke but as I go outside for a cigarette capture some activity out of the corner of my eye. A closer inspection shows a fisherman dropping off his catch of lobster of the day delivered in a box of sawdust I watch in awe as he fishes these snappy little fellas out of the box to sell to the restaurant. He puts his hand in and it's like a magic trick where these bright red lobsters keep coming out of this small box. I make my Way back and a little later in the evening Peter and Joe invite me to dinner. Instead of taking a left we take a right and end up in a Syrian restaurant. I enjoy a lamb kebab followed by Turkish tea and head home for another alcohol free night.Leer más

      Super Sunday

      So today is the big day. I don't know what I'm going to write about once the football season is over but at least I'll be able to sleep through the night. I feel very anxious so have booked a boat trip to while away a few hours this afternoon as the game doesn't start till 11pm. I head down the beach first for a few hours as I've woken up nice and early after a good night's sleep . Just as I set up my towel the biggest black clouds come overhead bit I decide to stick it out and with how windy it is today they are gone as soon as they arrived. When I take a dip in the sea its really choppy and I wonder whether the boat will go out as there aren't any jetskis out today which is unusual for the weekend. After a bite of lunch I head back for a shower and to grab my gopro then sit and wait for the bus to pick me up. At 215 Eddie comes around the corner and when I say the bus hasn't arrived he admits he's forgotten to book it. I walk the seafront for an hour its so much busier here at weekends and as i pass pizza hut decide to indulge in a bit of western food for a change. Because its very Muslim orientated here you cant get your typical pizzas but i order the chicken and pineapple and its delicious. When i leave the restaurant i have a little chuckle because they have a police parking area outside and the hatchback is open and 2 police officers are sat inside at a table and chairs eating their dinner. In the evening the original plan was to go to Rockafellas but we start the evening in Flo's. Its a bar on the top of one of the seafront hotels and it's really nice. Air conditioning and a big screen and reasonable prices. Pretty much the whole group from Rainbow joins us and we watch as both games unfold . Its quite crazy as we see the liverpool supporters getting the news of Villa scoring before we do. The game goes to the wire and sadly we don't get the results we want but we've given it our everything and that's all that counts. YNWA JFT97Leer más

      Last full day

      I wake this morning but am sad as I know this is definitely my last full day. Nathan my fellow liverpool supporters is there and Uncle Johnny joins us a little while later. The chef has cooked a new dish called lala cockles they're a certain kind of cockle with the prettiest shell. I've been bitten again and I don't know what by but I think I was when we were at the steamboat the other night as its all at the backs of my legs and I think its probably something that was in the wooden benches. Nathan gives me some cream to put on it and it does ease the pain. I manage a good half hour phone call with Amber filling me in on the scenes back in my home city of Liverpool. Im sad to have missed the festivities but am also proud in the support the team has around the world. The weather today is crazy and the wind is like a mini hurricane. I've been invited to Eddie's birthday party tonight and grab a quick beer in flos to get a view of the sea. The waves are the biggest I've seen since travelling and I'm glad I'm indoors as sheets of corrugated roofing are getting lifted off the beachfront buildings. The guys offer me a lift to the supper club and I'm really glad to have gone here as its a great opportunity to say goodbye or Jumpa lagi (see you soon). I stay a few hours the head to Rainbow bar as Uncle Johnny is playing tonight and I gave him my word that I would go. Michael and Eunice are here and I really enjoy my evening spending time listening to music throughout the time I have 2 songs dedicated to me. I'm leaving on a jet plane and the Malaysian song Fiona. My heart is heavy as I say goodbye to these wonderful people who have made my time on Langkawi so special but it's 1am and my alarm is set for 730am so I bid my goodbye s with a little rendition of "time to say goodbye ".Leer más
