      dia veinte y veintiuno: Lima!

      Früh brachen wir heute aus unserem Hostel auf, und fuhren zum Flughafen Cusco. Von dort waren wir in 1:20h in Lima, mit 11 Mio. Einwohnern, der größten Stadt, in der ich jemals war.
      Hier entspannten wir erst auf der Dachterasse und kochten uns dann ein Mittagessen.
      Am Nachmittag schlenderten wir zum Strand, wo wir eine tote Robbe , viele Surfer (Lima ist eine super Surf Stadt, es gibt viele gleichmäßige Wellen) und eine tote Robbe betrachteten.
      Am Abend kochten wir nochmal und ließen den Tag auf der Dachterasse ausklingen.

      Den zweiten Tag in Lima begannen wir mit einem ausführlichem Frühstück und brachen dann zu einer Free Walking Tour auf. Aufgrund der großen Fläche Limas, fuhren wir erst mit einem Bus ins Stadtzentrum. Auf jedenfall eine Erfahrung, da einige Busse hier als U-Bahn Ersatz dienen, und baulich getrennte Spuren auf der Stadtautobahn haben.
      Wir besichtigten also das kolonialistische Zentrum Limas. Wieder mal sehr spannend!
      Gegen Ende hab’s peruvianische Churros und danach ein Mittagsmenü für weniger als 4€.
      Dann ging’s mit dem Taxi (zu sechst in eins) ins Hostel, was wegen dem Verkehr relativ lange dauerte.
      Erschöpft legten wir eine Rast ein.
      Zum Abendessen hab’s dann Restl und dann erkundeten wir ein bissl die Gegend, wobei wir einen Battlerap fanden.
      Das war sehr lustig anzusehen und ein bisschen konnten wir sogar verstehen.
      Dann hab’s noch ein Bier auf der Rofftop Bar vom Hostel und wir gingen schlafen.      Leer más

      Lima - Day 1

      Another travel day getting ourselves to Lima which meant another relatively early wakeup and a lot of time in airports, taxis and in flight.

      Finally arrived at our hotel early afternoon both feeling pretty tired. Found a nearby place for some lunch and then back to the hotel. Alexa wasn't feeling great and very tired so she took the afternoon to rest up. Lots of early mornings and busy days taking their toll.

      Our hotel is in lima's nicest neighborhood Miraflores close to the ocean, but situated high above on a clifftop. Walked along the clifftop paths for a bit and met up with the Rabassa family at Mango's restaurant situated over the ocean. Taught them how to play Donut (card game) which was a lot of fun.

      And later we all went for supper at a place near the hotel and then bed. Was a very welcome chill day to recharge our batteries and relax.      Leer más

      Schon sind über 2 Wochen rum, das heißt Steffen wird heute schon wieder verabschiedet. Bevor es aber für beide Patein weitergeht gibt es noch einen Abstecher ins das Viertel Barranco in Lima.
      Bekannt als Künstler Vietel findet man hier und dort Graffitis an den Wänden, außerdem haben wir von hier nochmal einen wundervollen Blick auf das Meer und die Surfer 😍      Leer más

      Lima

      We caught another overnight bus from Trujillo and arrived to our hotel in Lima around 10am. We had a quick breakfast before unpacking our bags and chilling out before meeting up with the group in the afternoon to explore the city.

      We walked down to the ocean through one of the districts, Barranco, to see some of the beaches. This district has some really cool street graffiti and artwork with lots of cafes. The beach has a lot of pebbles and have a very fishy smell to them!

      We walked back up through Barranco and across the bridge of sighs where you hold your breath as you walk across and make a wish. A bit hard to do in the hot weather!

      We then continued walking through the Barranco district and walked across town to the Miraflores district which is the expensive part of town. It is home to apparently one of the best restaurants in the world - unfortunately we couldn’t get into it! 🤣

      We went to San Roman markets for a late lunch. It used to be a local market but now it is a two floor food court with lots of options for food (Mexican, Japanese and more!) It has a lot of cool artworks on the ceiling and walls. We went to a local park where our guide, André, bought us many different traditional Peruvian desserts for us to try including purple corn pudding and other types of cakes. We also tried a purple corn drink - chicha morada. Gab really likes this one! We walked around the park and watched couples salsa dancing in the park.

      We then caught the metro bus to the national stadium and went into a park full of fountains which included a water show that had a short video of Peruvian history projected onto it - very cool! Lots of amazing colourful foundations and cool sculptures.

      We got a taxi back to the hotel, had a quick call home and got ready to go out. This was the last day of the first leg of our tour so 4 of the people from our tour are leaving so we had a big night to farewell them. We started at a hostel which had a happy hour deal for cocktails - including chilcano (which is a cocktail of pisco sour, lime and ginger ale).       After finishing up at almost 4am at the club, we had a very chilled day today! As this is the crossover day for the end of one tour and the start of the next tour, we didn't have any activities planned.

      We had breakfast at the hotel before heading back to the room to relax for a bit and get some extra sleep. We went for a quick lunch of wraps near our hotel then went for a walk to explore the Sunday markets and got ice cream :)

      We had dinner with some of the group before meeting new members of the group to start the next leg of the South America tour - Lima to La Paz! The new group members include a guy from Australia, two girls from the UK, one girl from Germany and a girl from Switzerland.      Leer más

      Îles & Lima

      Par Titouan le Pélican,

      Pour notre deuxième jour à Paracas on a décidé de faire le tour des îles Ballestras en bateau. C'est un petit tour de 2h avec plein de gens dans un bateau qui va à fond donc c'est rigolo dans les vagues ehe.

      On retrouve donc Diego et Selim a 8h avant d'embarquer dans un bateau avec une trentaine d'autres personnes. Une fois partis, on passe devant des otaries et plein d'oiseaux notamment des pélicans et des cormorans. C'est d'ailleurs eux qui sont à l'origine du guano dont les îles sont recouvertes (ça pue vénère). D'ailleurs le gouvernement récupère le guano tous les 5 ans parce que c'est un maxi fertilisant. À l'origine les îles étaient recouvertes par endroit de plus de 30 mètres de guano !

      Pendant l'excursion on passe aussi devant un chandelier dessiné dans la montagne dont on sais rien si ce n'est que c'est vieux.

      Au retour on a eu la chance de naviguer au milieu d'un troupeau de dauphins c'était super beau.

      On avait pas petit déjeuner, au retour on se pose donc dans un café avec les potes et on se prend un petit dej. On rentre ensuite à l'hostel où on joue en attendant le bus qui nous emmène à Lima a 14h. Dans l'attente on ira également a un restaurant vachement bizarre car sur le menu il y a seulement des images et pas les prix donc c'est pas pratique pour choisir quelque chose.

      A 14h c'est donc parti pour 4h de bus jusqu'à Lima où nous attendent Antoinette Louise, Carlito et Valentine pour la soirée.

      Lima gueule de bois 🌅

      Ce matin le réveil brutal lorsqu’une staf de l’hostel fait irruption dans notre nid douillet pour nous en sortir. Pas de check-ouf tardif autorisé ici, les règles sont strictes, je l’aurais quand même fait revenir 2 fois mais au moment de la troisième j’étais fin prêt ! Dernier jour à Lima oblige, malgré la fatigue nous partons arpenter la ville !

      Notre vadrouille du jour commence par la dégustation d’un Burger King, après le Macdo d’hier il était important de nous faire notre avis ! Voilà qui nous aura bien requinqué, c’est en pleine forme que nous continuons notre marche vers Barranco, le quartier Bohème de la ville 🎨 Avant d’y arriver il nous faut longer le bord de mer, le temps est radieux et les vagues de sortie alors ça surf sévère 🏄‍♂️ Malgré une discussion avec un vieux surfeur local très aimable, difficile de nous convaincre pour une session, nos corps fonctionnant au ralenti aujourd’hui ! La houle atteint parfois les 10 mètres sur un autre spot de la ville qui accueille des compétitions professionnelles, toujours pas pour nous !

      Nous atteignons notre destination non sans peine après une bonne marche en plein soleil. Le quartier est très coloré, les murs remplis de street-art et les gens ont l’air heureux ! Nous flânons dans les rues en passant par des boutiques et galeries d’art, composées uniquement de biens hors budget pour nous. Le jugo con leche est quant à lui toujours le bienvenue et offrira même une petite sieste à Arzoo. Nous aurons le droit à un magnifique coucher de soleil sur le chemin du retour, on ne s’en lassera jamais🤩 Mon collègue file ensuite au marché de souvenirs pour de nouveaux achats compulsifs tandis que je rentre manger du brie français à l’hostel, oui oui baguette !

      Nous nous retrouvons un peu plus tard et nous préparons à partir ce soir pour Trujillo ! Pendant que l’on chill sur le terrasse le barman vient nous offrir des shots, c’est pas poli de refuser ! Complot ? Nul ne le saura car nous filons peu après au terminal.       día veintitrés: Barranco

      Nachdem die Hälfte der Truppe gestern fort war, ging’s heute erst spät los. Die andere Hälfte empfing sie um 14:00 mit Nudeln zum Frühstück/Mittag.
      Dann machten wir uns entspannt auf den Weg nach Barranco, dem Künstlerviertel Limas. Echt ein cooler Bezirk mit vielen netten Häusern und interessanten Galerien.
      Nach ein bissl spazieren stolperten wir in einen Kaffemarkt, auch spannend!
      Nun wieder hungrig, machten wir uns auf die Suche nach Essen.

      Das fanden wir auf einem kleinen Markt wo’s Essen, Live Musik und so kleines Zeugs gab. Müde tranken wir noch ein Bier in einer Künstler Bar und fuhren dann wieder zurück ins Hostel.

      Nach einer Partie Wizard ging’s auch schon ins Bett.      Leer más

      Die Hauptstadt Perus gehört noch nicht lange zu den größten Städten Südamerikas. Das explosionsartige Wachstum setzte erst Mitte des 20. Jahrhunderts ein. Neben dem historischen Zentrum aus dem 16. Jahrhundert sind viele Stadtviertel neu und modern. Im Süden allerdings gibt es eine riesige Fläche mit Armenvierteln, die sich, wie die Favelas in Rio, über die Hänge erstreckt.
      Lima reicht auch erst seit gut 50 Jahren bis zum Pazifik.
      Wir wohnten im sehr hübschen Quartier Barranco, das neben alten Sommerresidenzen auch viele moderne Häuser, schöne Parks, Cafés und Restaurants hat.      Leer más

      We are walking....

      ... und das nicht zu knapp. Fast 40 km die Tage hier abgerissen, die Füsse brennen leicht und die Haut auch, da seit gestern die Sonne rausgekommen ist und uns etwas gezeichnet hat (siehe Fotos). Heute haben wir eine Walking Tour durch den alten Stadtkern gemacht mit seinen imposanten alten Bauten, gestern Miraflores erlaufen, den reichen, hipperen Stadtteil, wo auch die Huaca Pucllana Ausgrabungsstätte liegt, eine riesige Anlage aus der Vor-Inka-Zeit, gebaut aus kleinen Lehmziegeln. Sehr beeindruckend! Der Verkehr ist schon krass und das entsprechende Lautstarke-Level, so dass man sich immer kleine ruhige Oasen zwischendurch suchen muss. Ansonsten ist die Stadt bumsvoll mit Fussballfans aus Rio (Flamenco) und Buenos Aires (River Plate), weil hier Samstag das Finale der Copa Libertadores stattfindet, was sie wegen den Protesten aus Santiago de Chile verlegt haben. Morgen früh gehts ab in ruhigere Gefilde und zwar nach Cusco auf 3000m in Richtung Anden, um etwas zu akklimatisieren vorm Machu Picchu Trek. Stay tuned...Leer más
