  • Day262

    September 20, 2017 in Sri Lanka ⋅

We were seven and all to lazy to take the bus to Ella. So we hired a minibus to Ella. It was a bit more expensive but very comfortable. It took four hours instead of seven or eight.

We booked a room in Tomorrowland, a really relaxed and laid back place. The common room was full of mats and bean bags. At the outside were hammocks and tents. The only issue was the distance to the town. You had to take a tuktuk or the bus.

First evening we went to little Adam's peek. It was a nice hike after sitting in the car the whole day.
The universe was good to us. Like always. The weather was very good and the view we had was amazing. The three girls and Philipp and david were good company and I enjoyed the time with them. In the evening we had some booze and went to bed.

Next morning: breakfast time in the hostel. All guest had food in the common room so it was a great start in the day. Then we went to town by bus to buy some fruits for the hike to Ella Rock. This days was quite warm so the hike took a while. On the top of the mountain we rested a while and had some tea. The view was incredible. You had the feeling you could look to the far seaside. Afterwards someone told me that's possible.
Back in town we split up, steph, Freya and Philipp went to the cave temple and David, Jojo and me were tires of hiking and we had some booze.
Later on we met the other for dinner.

At meanwhile millie and kitty arrived in Tomorrowland. Millie I met in Galle and kitty randomly in the immigration in Colombo. In Arugam im met both again and they told me the are siblings. Funny how life is. We had a great day and the day after we left.

    Just in time am Bahnhof...

    August 16, 2017 in Sri Lanka ⋅

    Was ein Tuk Tuk Rennen....

Read more

    Arugam Bay

    September 24, 2017 in Sri Lanka ⋅

So, early bird catches the worm... 7 am, checkout and got some food. And then? A torture... Bus from mirissa to matara, then to monaragala, on this part of the tour the bus was broken and we had to wait for the next... This one was already full and another twenty people had to join... Finally we arrived in monaragala and recognized that the last bus was full. No place for four more guys with backpack.

We resolved this small problem by hiring two tuktuk.
Everything went well 'til suddenly the front wheel was flat. We changed the wheel and ten minutes later the second one was also flat. Nothing to change anymore and in the middle of nowhere.
A nice guy, a local stopped and offered us a ride to arugam Bay for free in his car. It was the most comfortable ride of the last weeks and he brought us directly to our place.

I stayed in Longhostel, a good place to be for surfer guys. Sadly I'm not a surfer so if I woke up everyone was already at the beach and in the early afternoon all guys were asleep. I used my time to practice my guitar playing or hanging at the beach. I didn't mind if someone was sitting next to my while I played guitar. It's good for my self confidence.
Two days later I went to beach Hut. Because the two girls from Germany I met in anuradhapura were there as well. So we had a nice time at the beach and met a lot of really nice and cool people. Specially David, a guy from Colorado, a yoga instructor and Chris also a yogi and my room mate for the week. Luana and Nick. And a group of four people I met on a party Friday night. Steph, a girl from Germany with sri Lankan roots, Freya and Philipp and Jojo, a.k.a Johanna come from Göttingen. These four will be my next travel buddy's for the coming weeks. Tomorrow we're heading to Ella.
