      Conserve Natural Forests

      May 21, 2017 in Thailand ⋅ ⛅ 34 °C

In the morning we had a slow start and enjoyed a lovely breakfast of eggs and avocado on toast before heading off to the elephant sanctuary we had booked for the day.

The organisation that runs this sanctuary is called Conserve Natural Forests, its environmental conservational site is just north of Pai and is the location of their tree nursery, organic farm, additional to being the home of critically endangered tortoises, birds, and Asian elephants. Conserve Natural Forests is dedicated to reproducing endemic plant and animal species in Thailand, and aim to restore the damages caused by centuries of deforestation and harm by humans.

When we first arrived we met the team and got told a bit of background about the organisation and what they do. I could tell the team were extremely passionate about the beliefs of the organisation which made it an even more special occasion.

First up, we searched out the elephants to go over to feed them and just be in the company of these amazing creatures. Shortly after they had demolished all the food, it was time for a bath. This has got to be one of my most memorable experiences. Elephants are such majestic creatures and the way the organisation cares for them is only by voice, no harmful whips or apparatus and how they respond is amazing. The rest of the afternoon was just spent in the company of these elephants, continually feeding them and splashing water over them. The elephants are mother and daughter and were both rescued from horrible treatment in captivity. They are both pregnant, the daughter 27 months pregnant and was HUGE which isn't a surprise really.

The day was such a treat and really special. It made it all the better that the small group we were with were great people and had great humour just to top off the day. The main reason I loved this organisation was because it wasn't commercialised at all and it felt so natural and untouristy. The people there being there because their love for the environment and the animals there.

At the end of the day, to put something back into the environment, everyone plants a tree and I thought that was such a lovely touch to finish such a spectacular day with fascinating creatures and great people.

When it was time to go I almost felt saddened leaving the elephants as despite only spending an afternoon with them you do grow attached.

Getting back to the hostel after another visit to the nightmarket and a yummy meal it was time to get ready and celebrate Corrie's birthday turning 23. We dressed up in matching outfits we had all bought together and went straight out to explore the nightlife that Pai had to offer. Safe to say it did not disappoint.

      Pai

      February 2, 2023 in Thailand

Man spricht hier ganz gerne vom „Pai Hole“.

      Pai

      November 22, 2022 in Thailand ⋅ ⛅ 24 °C

9:30 a.m. - I woke up after a decent night in the hostel JJ&J‘s garden.

11 a.m. - Elena and I packed our bags and checked out.

11:30 a.m. - Because check started at 2pm we decided to eat breakfast in the cafe „coffee stain‘s“. I got a hot coffee and a awesome chocolate bowl for breakfast. I talked a little bit with the owner and he taught me some Thai words. Sadly i forgot them already expect for „khawp khun (khrap for male/kha for female)“. It means thank you.

2 p.m. - We hooked up with El, we met her at the public viewing yesterday and organized a sightseeing tour for half a day. El brought 3 other girls with her their names were Anne, Rachel and Louisa.
At first we went to the hot springs and it was nice but because it was a hot day no really refreshing. After that we visited a viewing point from where you saw the whole valley. Then we went to the bamboo bridge. My personal favorite that day was the bamboo bridge. There are lots of rice fields and you can walk basically over them with a bamboo bridge. It looked like it was harvesting time. I really loved the smell of the dry harvested rice plant’s. It remembered me of the smell of dry grass back home. At last we went to the famous pai canyons to see the sunset but we missed it.

6:15 p.m. - We finished our tour and it was amazing especially with this group constellation. But I have to mention that the roads and the drive to this places are an adventure for themselves.

7 p.m. - I ate something at the nightmarket. There you can always get a lot of good and cheap food.

10:30 p.m. - Elena and I hooked up with Anne from the sightseeing tour and we met her and some friends of her, Dave, Meg, Scott and Louisa, at a bar. They taught us the dice game „yesbank“ and it was really fun.
      yesbank rules:
      - 6 dices
      - the goal is to get one 2, one 4 and to hit a high number mit the other dices
      - each roll you have to put at least one dice a way
      - the best score (a yesbank) you can get is 2,4 and then 6,6,6,6

      Pai

      November 23, 2019 in Thailand ⋅ 🌙 20 °C

(Bild 3,4,5,6).
Abends sind wir noch was trinken gegangen. (Bild 1&2, auf der Walking Street)

      Pai

      November 20, 2019 in Thailand ⋅ ☀️ 27 °C

Read more

      Heisse Quellen und Sonnenuntergänge

      January 10, 2019 in Thailand ⋅ ⛅ 25 °C

      Pai

      July 7, 2018 in Thailand ⋅ ☁️ 28 °C

Definitely one of our favourite places we have been on the whole trip. It’s a small town in Northern Thailand which has one main street that is pedestrianised and full of market stores. We rented mopeds and rode to different waterfalls and sites like the white buddha. At night we bar hopped down the roads and the town was full of backpackers so met so many nice people.Read more

Chiang Mai, Trekkingtur og Pai (Part 2)

      April 3, 2018 in Thailand ⋅ ☀️ 30 °C

“I am the most miserable human being alive!”

      Awesome Pai

      December 17, 2016 in Thailand ⋅ ⛅ 24 °C

On Friday my friends arrived from Bangkok to Chiang Mai. It was also first cloudy day (not connected of course, hehe) on my Thailand trip. After few beers in the night we've headed to Pai in the morning. A 3 hiur bus drive is not the most comfortable, but for 250THB it was okay :)
Pai is a wonderful town, it has this hippy vibe with a lot of small restaurants and stores along the main street, oh so nice! Already rented some scooters (yes mom, I have a helmet!) so we're off to explore this Thailand's pearl :)
