We then went onwards to the Pai Canyon.
Very nice area which I didn't really explore because the walkways were so narrow and I hate heights so I wouldn't try seeing much more than the initial area.

The driver from Pai to Chiang Rai went back through Chiang Mai and took about 9 hours down winding roads but I slept most the way so it wasn't too bad.

The bus left Terminal 2 in Chiang Rai at noon and arrived at 5am in Luang Prabang.
The border cross was really easy as the bus dropped you at the Thailand side and picked you up at the Laos side.
