  • Onwards to Phnom Penh 🚌

    18 Ocak 2024, Kamboçya ⋅ ☁️ 25 °C

As already mentioned in a previous post, I spent the last night in a tiny little cabin of a night bus from Siem Reap to Phnom Penh, Cambodias capital. 🚌
Fortunalety Miahli was on the same bus, so we could share the tiny sleeping cabin...I really wouldn't have wanted to almost cuddle with a stranger in there haha. 😶‍🌫️💩
Our ride took around 7 hours and we arrived in Phnom Penh at around 5 a.m. (so again a day of getting up early 😉).
We couldn't check in at our hostel at that time, nor use the pool area, so we chilled a bit in the lobby, doing some research and planning for our next travel destinations. 🗺🧳🗓
I know it might seem like everythings done quiet spontanously, and sometimes it is...but then there are days like today, where you spend around 2h on researching where to go next, checking the best transport options, possible accomodation, etc. Sometimes that's really timeconsuming 🤯

After all that, we went to see the Choeung Ek genocide center (also called killing fields) and the Tuol Sleng genocide museum.😔 But I've made a separate post on that one.

In the afternoon we once again enjoyed some chill time at the pool before going out for dinner. It was our last evening together, before heading in different directions again 😕 yesterday I was even asked whether we were siblings haha. 👯🏼‍♀️thank you miahli for the last couple of weeks and for not being my travelling buddy but having the same ways 😆 it was a blast! 🥰

  • New day, new city 😆

    19 Ocak 2024, Kamboçya ⋅ ☀️ 33 °C

I decided to not stay in Phnom Penh until my departure on monday, but rather see another part of Cambodia 😄
Thus I took a bus to Kampot this morning, which is in the southern part of the country. ☀️
New day, new city, new pool I guess 😁😎
I arrived in Kampot at around noon and after diing the check-in I started researching on what to do the next 2 days 😉 actually Kampot has quiet some stuff to offer...so it needs somw planning (again 🙄) in order to get the most out of my time here 💪🏽
I found a SUP tour and really wnted it to do this afternoon...unfortunately they didn't respond to my booking attempt, so I chilled a bit at the pool (yes, again... 😇👙)
Around 20 mins before the SUP Tour started I reached out again to the agency, and they told me I could come to the afternoon tour! 🙌🏽
Being a bin in a rush now, I quickly packed all my stuff together - fortunately I already was in my bikini 😆 - threw it in a drybag and made my way to the meeting point.
It was such a nice tour, and I am super happy I was able to do it! Especially when the guide told us that this was the first tour since 2 weeks, as it seems there are not too many tourists around right now. 🍀
We were paddling up and down a side river, with just palmtrees along the shore 🌴🌴 and flying fishes everywhere 🐟🐟 it was so idyllic! 🥰
We then ended the tour by watching the sunset (yes, another one for the books 😅) from a really nice spot on the river. 🌅
Guess I couldn't have a better start in Kampot ☺️

  • Cruising dusty Kampot 🛵

    20 Ocak 2024, Kamboçya ⋅ ⛅ 25 °C

My plans for today required a bit of driving around, so I rented a scooter 🛵
The first stop was a bit outside of town, at the "office" of Climbodia, where I've booked a climbing & exploring tour 🧗🏻‍♀️🤠
We first started with a short climb up a little mountain, followed by going along the cliff by a via ferrata before it was time for abseiling (yes, that's actually what it's called) back to the ground. 💪🏽 We then entered quiet a big cave, which we traversed walking and crawling an all fours and sometimes even on the belly 😆
The last 1.5 hours we spent with rock climbing 🧗🏼‍♀️⛰️
I really enjoyed the tour, it was loads of fun 🤩
I got back on the moto in the early afternoon and went along VERY dusty and bumpy dirtroads to one of the pepper farms, that are typical for this region. 🌱
Kampot pepper is a very regulated speciality and is the only pepper that has an PGI (Protected Geographic Indication). 🤓
A volunteer showed me around the plantation and gave me a tasting afterwards - I was really surprised about the varietes of taste pepper can have! One speciality is pepper tea, which was really nice! 🍵
After having lunch there and enjoying the tranquility of the place, I went back to town, not without making a quick stop at the salt fields of Kampot as well 😀
In the evening I met up with Ilona for dinner, as she has arrived in Kampot today. 🍽🥰

  • Goodbye Cambodia, goodbye SEA 🥲

    22 Ocak 2024, Kamboçya ⋅ ⛅ 29 °C

Yesterday I left Kampot and returned to Phnom Penh since I'm flying out today. 🥲
Had a really relaxing afternoon, just chilled at the pool, read my book, listened to music, and went out for a massage and dinner later on. 📖🎶💆🏼‍♀️🥘
I'm leaving with a bit of a sad eye, because I really enjoyed Cambodia and Sout East Asia in general. Food is great (obviously) and people are just so friendly everywhere (except fot the border haha). 🥰 guess it's not the last time that SEA has seen me 😉

But for now...next stop AUSTRALIA 🤩🐨🦘
Well almost...with layovers in Kuala Lumpur, Bali and Melbourne 😬 gonna be a looooong day I guess 🙄🙈

  • Made it to Down Under 🙌🏽

    23 Ocak 2024, Avustralya ⋅ ☁️ 27 °C

After around 25h of travelling I finally arrived in Brisbane! 🥳
Everything went quiet well, even the visa on arrival which I had to get for my overlay in Indonesia went smooth and I was perfectly in time for my flights to and within Australia.
At check-in (yeah, had to check out & back in in Bali 🙄) I was told that I would have to do the same in Melbourne, because my connecting flight was domestic and thus I had to enter customs at the first stop in Aussie. Looks like they recently changed that, as not even locals knew they had to do it. 😬 that made my schedule pretty tight, but I can be fast if I want to, so no need to worry I thought 😉
Also, I was seated next to 2 really nice girls, plane started taxiing in time, so all seemed well. Until...we stopped and the captain said that we're back at the boarding gate as one passenger needs to be removed from the plane 🤣
All in all it took 1 hour until the passenger had left, his bags were taken off the plane, every bag 5 rows before & behind his seat has been identified and we got a new starting permit 😬🙈 at that point I knew there's no way I'm gonna make it to my connecting flight - just like around 30% of that plane haha, so at least I wasn't the only one 🙆🏼‍♀️
Finally made it to Brisbane almost 4 hours later than planned. 🙈

It feels kind of weird to be back in a western culture...and to the prices here - a coffee is now around 5$ instead of 1,5$ 😬💸 butbat least there's nice bathrooms everywhere again 🚽😆

I spent the afternoon walking around a bit, exploring the area around the hostel and ended up at a really nice park nearby 🦎🌴🌳🌺
In the evening there was a nice get together ans a common dinner at the hostel, where I met super nice people and got inspirations and suggestions for the trip 🥰

  • Exploring Brisbane 🦘🐨

    24 Ocak 2024, Avustralya ⋅ 🌙 22 °C

Started the day with a yoga class provided by the hostel. 🧘🏼‍♀️ was a really nice way of waking up 😆
Afterwards I had breakfast with girls from the hostel and we decided to go to the koala sanctuary in town - which actually turned out to be more of a zoo...but it was still time well spent 😊
We got to see a lot of Koalas, were able to feed kangaroos and had some encounter with parrots 😅
In the evening I did some research on how to continue my travels in Australia, as a cyclone is about to hit the eastcoast, where I wanted to go up the next few days and weeks. ⛈️🌬😬
Thus I shifted everything and decided to go to Tasmania now and do Australia later on 😆
After having sorted out all the needed accomodations & flights Carly, Ceci and I took part in the pub quiz of the hostel, where we got 2nd 🙌🏽🥈
To celebrate that, Carly and I crewed up.with some people from the hostel and ended up in a bar nearby💃🏼🥳

  • Brisbane🏙 -> Gold Coast 🏖

    25 Ocak 2024, Avustralya ⋅ ☀️ 31 °C

After going for a run along the Brisbane river 🏃🏼‍♀️and packing my backpack once again 🎒, I had breakfast with the girls and did some organizational stuff 📑.
Got on the 🚅 at around noon to make my way down to the Gold Coast 😎, where I'll be flying out from tomorrow morning.
The journey took longer than expected (once again 🙄), due to massive traffic jam at Gold coast (had to change to a 🚌 here).
However, once here I quickly did the check in at the YHA and then went for a long and very nice and relaxing beach walk 🥰
It's actually the first time since I've started my travels that I'm at the ocean 😮 and the first time ever, that the sand made this funny noise when walking on it haha (see video 😅)
Got some food in the nearby village of Coolangatta and then went back to the hostel during sunset and admired the fullmoon, as I still had to find & book a rental car for my time in Tasmania 😆
So not a very extraordinary day...but still a nice one 😊

  • Aussie national day in Tassie 🥰

    26 Ocak 2024, Avustralya ⋅ 🌙 15 °C

First of all - happy Australian national day! 🇦🇺🥳
Once again the alarm clock went off veeery early...see picture 😬
So I got ready, walked to the airport (so glad the hostel was just a 10 mins walk from there) and dropped off the backpack.
The plane took off punctually at 6 am and almost 3 hours later i safely landed in Tasmania 🤩🥳 so excitedto be here!
When picking up my rental car, one of the agents said it's a must to go to the Cateract Gorge when staying in Launceston, so I did right away. 😉
Driving there was a bit thrilling, since it's the first time for me to drive on the left side 🚙↔️ but I got used to it quiet fast 🙏
The place was really nice, since it's not only the Gorge itself, but also a national park around. 🏞
Even thought it's been rather crowded at the beginning - probably because it was a holiday and there's also a pool and a basin to swim in - I kept on walking paths for around 4 hours and probably met only 10 other people. 🤠
Soooo enjoyed the hiking...being just with myself, listening to the Wind and the sounds of the wood and oh, this smell of pines...love it! 😍
But I also had other encounters...with 2 wild kangaroos 🦘🦘 and 2 snakes 🐍🐍. For those who know how easily I get scared...you can imagine my reaction when I saw the snakes in the corner of my eye right next to the path 😱
After this adventurous walk I drove to the hotel, did some grocery shopping & enjoyed my dinner in a nearby park. 😊🥕🥑🥪

  • Windy excursion 🌪🏔🌬🏖

    27 Ocak 2024, Avustralya ⋅ ☁️ 16 °C

My first way today was to the famous Harvest market in Launceston, which takes place pnly saturdays and even is a UNESCO heritage. 👩🏼‍🌾👨🏽‍🌾
Besides local fruit (especially cherries 🍒), herbs and vegtables one can also find local pastry, honey, olive oil and food stands. 🍇🍐🥦🥕🥐🍯🥟🍔☕️
It was a really lovely market, especially when a live band started to play as well. 🎶🎙
After about an hour there I made my way to the Ben Lomond national park, as I wanted to hike up to the summit of Mt. Ben Lomond, which is around 1,500m high. 🏔
In winter locals can go skiing up there and in summer it's supposed to be a nice hiking spot. 🎿🥾
On my way up (you have to drive up rather high) I already realizid, that I did not bring the right clothes...it was sooo windy and freeeezing up there 🌪🌪🥶🥶 so I decided to just stop at Jacob's ladder and then drive back down...even more as the summit was completely foggy anyways 🌫😶‍🌫️
I then drove to Bridgeport, a nice village on the northshore of the island and went for a little walk there 😊
It was for sure warmer than on Ben Lomond, but I couldn't escape the wind today haha 🙈 it was so strong there, that I constantly had to hold my sunglasses on my nose, cause otherwise they would have been blown away 🤓 and no, taking them off was not an option, as I would have had all the sand blown in my eyes then 😅
From Bridgeport I headed back to Launceston, where I spent a nice evening 😊

  • Hiking Cradle Mountain...almost 😬🏔

    28 Ocak 2024, Avustralya ⋅ ☁️ 12 °C

Today I jumped into the car at 6 am, as I had a 2.5h drive ahead in order to get to the Cradle mountain visitor center. 🚗 yes, i know...early start again 😅🕕
The sun rises pretty early in Tasmania (around 6ish), so the whole trip was during daylight - thankfully, as driving by night is not really recommended due to wildlife. 🦘🦔
I started in bright sunshine, but the closer I got to Cradle mountain, the more misty and cloudy it got. 🙈
And phew...it was coooold when I got out of the car 🥶
Nevertheless, you know there's no bad weather but only bad clothing...so I put on 4 layers (finally I know why I brought 3 longsleeves and a rain jacket!) and started walking. 🚶🏼‍♀️and what shall I do....the mountains are calling and I must go 🤷🏼‍♀️🤭
I don't really mind rough conditions when doing sports outdoors, and actually kind of enjoyed the rain and the chilly air (yeah, you can call me a weirdo 😅). The wind was a bit annoying, since it was really cold and stormy most of the time, but I really wanted to go to the summit, and what doesn't killy you only makes you stronger, right?! 😉
I knew there were only 2 things that could stop me from doing it:
    * a sudden change in weather or a snowstorm 🌨 which can happen within minutes at Cradle mountain, even in summer
    * snakes 🐍 especially as a nice Lady on the shuttle told me that the one I saw at the Gorge was pretty venomous 😳
So I kept on going and made the turn to the summit when I got to the repective junction 🔝 after nearly 2 hours.
Being already soaked, I walked on for several minutes but then decided to turn back down, as it was getting even more foggy and stormy up there 😕 pretty annoying and disappointing, as I'm not someone who's giving up easily...especially when it comes to sports 😖 but I've been walking alone, without service and didn't want to risk anything...but still 😑😫
So after a while I got a little cold, and what's the only thing that makes you warm up again?🤔 Right, moving faster 😆🤭 thus I turned my hike into a little trailrun, which was so much fun!! 🤩🤩 reminded me on how much I love doing this sports and being out on the trails 🥰🥰🥰
Once I got down I surrounded Dove Lake 🏞, before I finished my track for the day - ended up being 18km & 950m of altitude...thus not too bad ☺️
Afterwards I just drove to Deloraine, a cute little village I'm staying at for a night.

    29 Ocak 2024, Avustralya ⋅ 🌙 13 °C

Took my time this morning as thete was nothing really planned except for going down from Deloraine to Tassie's capital Hobart.🗺
Since I decided to go for the more scenic route rather than the fastest one, it took me around 5h all in all to get there - did a lot of Foto stops on the way to be fair 📷
I drove via the central Plateau, which was covered in fog once again, before I then passed several really beautiful lakes 🤩
In Hobart I went on Mount Wellington before checking in at the hostel.
This time I drove up to the top, as it was already too late to do the hike and I saw the clouds coming in....so I had to be fast 😆

  • Found paradise on Bruny Island 🤩💚

    30 Ocak 2024, Avustralya ⋅ 🌙 16 °C

I slept in a little too long as I didn't have much expectations for Bruny Island. To be honest I thought it's probably just gonna be an island close to Tassie that's basically the same as the main island 🤷🏼‍♀️ just looked up some spots to go to yesterday and made my way to the ferry in the late morning 😇
But then...gosh, how wrong I was!! The island captured my heart right from the start. 🥰 can't really say why, but it just did. The combination of wood and beaches was just stunning 😍 reminded me a bit of Kauai...and I guess most of you know how much of a fan I am of that place! 💕
First I got to the Lighthouse at the southern point of Bruny...a really nice place with pittoresque views! 🖼
And the beach nearby...just insanely beautiful!! Didn't know that it's not going to be the only one I'll come by today at that point 😅
Afterwards I went to a trail that I looked up. There was a short and a longer version...the short one was stated to take 2.5h, so I decided to do that one as it was already early afternoon. And because I wanted to do another trail too, I made a hike-run out of it 🤭 wanted to go for a run today anyways, so why not take the chance - it's by far tje best way to explore nature anyways 😊 And if you want to see as much as possible in little time, you just have to go faster 😅🙆🏼‍♀️
It took me 30 mins to complete 2/3 of the loop, so I took a turn and also did some parts of the bigger one too 😆 and it so paid off!! Got to see great beaches and cliffs 😍😍
Got back to the car after 2h in order to drive to Adventure beach to get on the next trail 😂
And oh wow, that one didn't dissapoint as well! Another amazingly beautiful beach, stunning cliffs, a nice technical downhill...and another snake encounter!! 🐍 which is especially funny as I had a dream about it last night 🙈
Got back with one of the last ferries...but that was such a gorgeous place!! Super nice trails, great beaches and wonderful national parks - what else can you ask for?! ❤❤

Ps: for those of you thinking my hamstring/booty issue is fine again...nope - just ignoring the pain as much as I can and pushing it to the limit haha. No time for rest if there's just so much to see 😆😬

  • Experiencing history at Port Arthur 🏛

    31 Ocak 2024, Avustralya ⋅ ☁️ 15 °C

Got up early this morning as I had to bring my car to the rental agency in Hobart, because it made weird, squeezy noises since a couple of days. Yep, looks like me & car issues seem to be a thing once again 😂💩
After I got another car, I made my way down to Port Arthur, which is a former convict site. 😬
It consits of 11 penal sites that were built during the 18th and 19th century and served as penal colony from 1833 to 1877. During that time, criminals that were considered to be most dangerous were sent there.
It was one of the first prisons, where inmates were not only punished physically but also psychologically. They were for example not allowed to speak (exept when directly adressed by a guard), look at each other or touch each other.
It was considered as one of the most safe prisons at this time, since the colony was located at a peninsula and the only street connecting it to the mainland was heavily guarded. 😶
It was super interesting to walk through the ruins and read the storys of inmates and officials working on site. Fun fact: one prisoner tried to escape dressed up as a kangaroo. 🦘 his diguise was so good, that the guards wanted to shoot the "kangaroo" in order to have it for dinner 😂 that's when the convict gave up and showed himself. 🤷🏼‍♀️
Afterwards I went for an extended walk at Pirates bay, with stunning views at the cliffs 🤩🤩
Had to change hostels tonight and am now at a capsule hostel 😅 very different...but really nice somehow 😆

  • Here we go again 💉🚗🏖 😅

    1 Şubat 2024, Avustralya ⋅ 🌙 20 °C

This has been a pretty basic day 🤷🏼‍♀️
After leaving my cozy capsule right in time to avoid a parking ticket 😮‍💨, I did some grocery shopping to have food for the day 😅🍎🥒🥕🥕🥑🥖🧋
Afterwards I started my walk through Hobart in order to find a tattooing studio that would make a tattoo right away, as I didn't want to loose much time haha 😂 yeps, got another one...oopsi 🤭
I've alredy had the motif in my head for almost a year now, so it wasn't that spontanous, even though the point of time was. 😇 I knew I wanted to get it in Tassie and thought that I'd just do it on my last day here - but then realized that this was a sunday, so no studio would be open 🙆🏼‍♀️ and as there are a couple of tattoo artists in Hobart, I decided to just try a walk in - and was successful at the third attempt ☻️ (guess all things come in 3s 🙃)
The tattooer was really nice, took his time and did a great job I'd say - it took only 3 mins to do it anyways haha 😅 I'm suuuper happy with it 😍😍

Then I started my drive to Wineglass bay, which took a bit longer than expected. 🚙🙄 So when I finally got there I decided to shift it to tomorrow and head to my accomodation right away and spend a relaxing afternoon there instead of hustling through the trails and getting to the hostel late. 🙈
Took 2 hitchhikers with me for a part of the way - guess that should add some points to my karma 😄
And I still have to do some research on how to continue my travels anyways😬
There are just too many options:
🤔 extend my stay in Tassie?
    🤔 go to New Zealand?
🤔 stick to the plan and do Australias east coast?
🤔 go to Australia and do something totally different (maybe Melbourne to Adelaide?!)

-> What would you say?? Open for recommendations! 😉

  • Beaches and a summit 🏖⛰️🥰

    2 Şubat 2024, Avustralya ⋅ 🌬 15 °C

After a little workout this morning I jumped into the car to go back to Freycinet National park, which I skipped yesterday. 🙈
It was a bright & sunny morning, so I already stopped a couple of times on my way down to the national park because I passed so many amazing beaches & viewpoints 🤩
Once I arrived, I started my hike to the wineglass bay lookout, which was really beautiful! 🍷🤭 then kept on walking down to the white sandbeach of the bay, enjoyed some time there before I continued the loop to Hazards beach & then back to the car park through a nice, forestry area. 😎🏖🌳
Since I finished the circuit faster than expected, I had a little snack at the car and then got ready for hike no. 2 😂
Went up to the summit of Mount Amos, which provided a realky spectacular 360° view ⛰️🥰 at least one summit with good view for me haha 😄 the hike was a bit challenging as it was a rather steep uphill via mostly naked stones, but it was so worth it! 😍😍
Drove back to my accomodation all sweaty but happy and ended my day with a pint of thelocal beer at the enclosed restaurant - cheers! 🍺

  • Fire and Flood 🔥🌊

    3 Şubat 2024, Avustralya ⋅ 🌬 18 °C

    What a day! 🥰
Woke up this morning and somehow already knew it's gonna be a good one ☺️
Made a few last bookings for my next stations, enjoyed a porridge on my "terrace" and then headed of to the Bay of Fires! 🔥
On the way there I crossed through St. Helens, where the usual saturday morning market was just happening. Hence I made a stop to see what's going on there 😉
Even though it was a relatively small market, they had lovely stuff! 🥰 Spoiled myself with a delicious focaccia🧄🍅 (which was still warm as it came right out of the oven 🤤), a coffee ☕️, some fruit 🍎🍏 and a lovely smelling body soap 😇
Then went on to the bay of fires. Once again I didn't expect much, as it's just orange coloured stones at the beach. 😅 and oh Tassie, how you've suprised me once again!! This place was just magical! 💫✨️
Words can't really describe what makes this bay so special - because actually it' just orange coloured rocks at the shore 😂🤭
But the white sandbeaches in combination with cristal clear turquise water and those rocks...simply amazing! 🤩🤩🤩
At each stop (I made 3 of them) I somehow couldn't take my eyes of this spectacle of nature. I ended up spending around an hour at each place, simply sitting on one of the rocks, climbing around or walking along the beach. It was just gorgeous. 😍😍 and gave me my first real sunburn since I am travelling 😬🦀
On my way back to Launceston I made a stop at the Blue little lake, which looks really beautiful, but isn't recommended for swimming because of it's high concentration of aluminium 😯 However, it was rather late already anyways, so I didn't spend too much time there. ⏳️
It's amazing how fast the landscape chsnges by driving from the eastcoast into the country...from sandy beaches and dry meadows to green forests and cow pastures 🏖🌾🌳🌿
At my accomodation my host told me that there's a very well-known Festival in town this weekend! What a coincidence! 🤗 Thus I just quickly took a shower, ate the rest of my focaccia & made my way to check the festival.
Well, that's what I'd like to tell you 😅😅 unfortunately it's sold out, so I didn't get in 😥 would have been pretty cool to go there 😕 But well, I guess there's another Festival to come for me 🤷🏼‍♀️

  • Still in Tassie 😇

    4 Şubat 2024, Avustralya ⋅ ☁️ 20 °C

I actually intended to leave Tassie today but decided to extend my stay here for another week 😊 I'm just not ready to go yet, so I organized everything needed within the last 2 days 😀
Thus I was in no rush at all this morning, took my time and enjoyed the brakfast at my cozy homestay 🍵🍞🥣🍌
My host gave me the tipp to go to a fleamarket in a village nearby, which I did. The village itself was really cute with a lot of really nice cottages. 🏡
The fleamarket was fun, anything from books, second hand clothes, jewelry to antique flatirons was available. Had a really good time there - and made a bargain by buying a dress and a blouse for just 10$ 🙌🏽
Shortly after noon I had to exchange my rental car, as I had only rented it until today and wanted to get a smaller one anyways - the one I had just needed way too much gas and didn't have enough PS for it's weight 😅 so now I'm cruising around a nippy little car, which is actually way more fun 🤭
In the evening I went north to George Town, where I did a penguin watching tour that I spontanously booked only a couple of hours before. 🙂
Tasmania is home to several colonies of Little Penguins which, at just around 30cm tall, are the smallest penguin species in the world. 🐧🐧
We got to watch them coming out of the water & going on land, where they stay during the night.
They were just so cute!! It totally paid off going there! 🥰 So happy I stayed in Tassie 🥳

  • Off to the west ⬅️🧭🚙

    5 Şubat 2024, Avustralya ⋅ 🌙 9 °C

Since I've already seen (just a fraction, but still) the southern, eastern an northern part of the island I really wanted to also explore the western part for a couple of days. 😊
Opposite to the dry east, going west means more (rain)forest and a bit cooler weather. 🙃
I drove to Tullah early morning and did a hike to Mount Farrell & Lake Herbert 😆
It was really awsome and I got to see some amazing views on the surrounding landscape. 🤩 fell in love with Tassie once again ❤
The weather was a bit annoying, as it was pretty warm as soon as the sun came out, but quiet chilly with the clouds - I put my jacket on & off every 10 mins I guess 😅 somehow getting used to carry clothes for all eventualities with me when going hiking here 😉 and of course, it was windy too - what else?! 🌬
But still very much enjoyed the hike. Gave me my much needed dose of movement after 2 days of 'resting' 🤭
Afterwards I just chilledin my cozy cabin and checked the surrounding a bit, so did nothing special :)

  • On to the next one ⛰️

    6 Şubat 2024, Avustralya ⋅ ☁️ 11 °C

I left my cozy cabin in the late morning in order to get to my next hike -> Mount Murchison ⛰️
The weather was nice, do was the hike 😊 and the view up there was just gorgeous (yeah, once again) 😍😍 First time the wind wasn't too bad - but it was just so cold up there 🥶 started my way up at around 15 degrees, so it prob had around 10 or less on the summit 😳
Once I got back, I made my way to Queenstown, a sleepy little village known for being a former mining hotspot.
The town itself isn't spectacular at all, neither is the room i have. Should have stayed in my cozy cabin 🙈💩🙄 but well, it's just for two nights, so I guess I'm just gonna make the best out of it 🤷🏼‍♀️

  • All good things come in threes 😉

    7 Şubat 2024, Avustralya ⋅ 🌙 11 °C

My third day in western tassie...so it's time to do a third mountain 😆
Todays plan was to hike Mount Tyndall ⛰️
The way up there wasn't too much fun as it was sooo wet and muddy for the first 30 mins 🙈 However, it got better then and the sun dried my hiking pants rather fast. 🙏🏼
I got to the summit / plateau at atound noon and was still able to catch some sun before the fog came in 🙄 and again it was pretty cold up there...today I really wished I had some gloves with me 😅
Due to the change in weather I skipped Mount Geiki, which would have been easily doable from Mount Tyndall in another 1-2 hours. Too bad, as I bet the view from up there would have been amazing! 😕
Coming down I drove to the Montezuma Falls and did a nice walk through the rainforest there, before doing my third track for the day to the Confluence, where King & Queen river merge. Unfortunately it was too sunny then to see the fusion of the 2 rivers 😆 should have made the hikes in reverse orders today 🙆🏼‍♀️

  • Just one more 🤭

    8 Şubat 2024, Avustralya ⋅ 🌙 12 °C

It was a bright and sunny day when I looked out of the window this morning - thus a perfect day for one more hike ⛰️😆🥾
Since I had to go back to Launceston today anyways I picked a summit on the way and hiked Mount Roland. I actually thought about doing this hikes 3 times now, so today was the day. 😀
There are 2 ways up to the top...a longer and slightly elevated one, and a shorter but steeper one. I guess it's pretty clear which one I went for 😅
It was a good hike, actually steeper than I thought it'd be, with a couple of rocks to boulder and a steady incline for almost 2 hours. But I really enjoyed it 😊 and the view was good as well, so it's been worth it! 🤩
Full of motivation I continued to Mount Vandyke, which wasn't very special, and then headed back down.
I was so happy about doing the hike, distracted by the surrounding and wrapped up in my thoughts that I almost missed the signs for a date with the man with the hammer 🔨 🥴 Luckily I still had some fruit in my backpack which saved me from being all to weak-kneed on the way down 👍🏼
Really liked to have a longer (5h) and a bit challenging hike this time! 🥰
Afterwards just drove back to Launceston, checked in to another capsule hostel & did some planning for my time in Australia 😊

  • Party in the Paddock 🥳💃🏼

    9–10 Şub 2024, Avustralya ⋅ ⛅ 27 °C

When I decided to prolong my stay in Tassie, I figured that there was the Party in the Paddock festival near Launceston with some bands I wanted to see - so it was obvious where I was going to spend my last few days 🤩🤩
While I did my research about the festival it came into my mind that a friend told me about volunteering, thus I gave it a go and applied - on the last day possible appearently 😆 and got accepted - whoop whoop 🙌🏽🙌🏽
I had two 6,5h shifts at the merch booth, which was really fun and got free access to the festival & camping in exchange - pretty nice deal, isn't it?! 😉
Both of my shifts were during daytime, which was great as it got quiet warm with bright sunshine on these two days so being within the merch tent was perfect. After my shifts (which ended at 8pm resp. 5pm) I checked the festival area, got some food and simply enjoyed the music and festival vibes 🥳🥳 and of course danced my ass off to Milky Chance, Tash Sultana, Holy Holy and the electro night-tents haha 💃🏼💃🏼💃🏼
Definitely was an awsome thing to go there - absolutely had a blast! 🤩🤩🤩

  • Time to leave 🛫🛬

    11 Şubat 2024, Avustralya ⋅ ⛅ 25 °C

Today it was finally time to leave Tassie. I spent 17 gorgeous days there and could have still stayed longer. Tassie, oh Tassie...you gave me everything I needed - and even more! 🥰 I've beeen spoiled with amazing white sandbeaches, awesome trails, breathtaking views & nature, warmhearted people and a music festival - what else could I've asked for?! 😍😍😍
But still I felt like it's time to continue my travels in Australia, so I flew back to the Gold Coast. And I have to admit it's also nice to be back at a 'real' summer & not having to put on 3 layers from 7pm onwards 😅
Once back I just did some grocery shopping, enjoyed the beach for a while and got organized for my next few days 🙂
Once again - thank you Tassie for treating me that well - you're an absolute wild gem that searches one of a kind! 💎💎

  • Crashing Byron bay🏖🥊🏄🏼‍♀️🤹🏼‍♀️

    12–16 Şub 2024, Avustralya ⋅ ☁️ 27 °C

The day after I returned from Tasmania I already headed on to my next stop -> Byron Bay 🚌
I didn't really know what to expect as it's pretty hyped as a super laid-back surfer place. And when something is that fancied I tend to be rather sceptical 😅
But I have to admit that Byron really surprised and convinced me! 😊
Right after my arrival I booked a surfing class which started 15 mins after my booking haha. And it was sooo much fun! 🏄🏼‍♀️🥰 it seems easier than it actually is to stand up on the board, but I got really determined on doing it ✌🏼 thus that I attended another surfing class the following morning & rented a board later that week to practice myself again 😆🙆🏼‍♀️
Next to that, I did 2 boxing classes which were offered by the hostel - and omg, I loved it! Didn't know that boxing was so much fun as well!! 🤼🏼‍♀️🥊
And on top of that I did a circus class - yep, you read correctly...circus. 🎪 did an aerials class there, which was suuuper exhausting but real good fun too. 🥰 So many new sport options...seems like the perfect place for me 😅😉
Besides exercising I enjoyed the sunrise at the lighthouse in Byron 🌅, did a tour to spots off the beaten track to a really nice waterfall, the tea-tree-stained lake Ainsworth and gorgeous Kings Beach 🏖😎, had a BBQ at the beach and good nights out with some friends 🍽🍔🤩
So kept my days quiet busy, but in a way that I really enjoy. 🥰🤩
On my last day I was supposed to do kayaking with dolphins 🐬, which was unfortunately cancelled due to the rainy weather 😕 really hope I'll get another chance to spot this beautiful creatures 🤞🏼
However, made it back to the gold coast this evening in order to take off to my next destination tomorrow 🛫😇

  • Sky & Sand 2.0 - Airlie Beach🤿🪂

    17–19 Şub 2024, Avustralya ⋅ ☁️ 29 °C

I've been flying out from the Gold Coast once again - this time my destination was the Whitsunday islands, which are a cluster of 74 islands near the coast of Airlie beach.
    🏝
The day after arrival I did a tour to the whitsundays which was really nice. A boat brought us to whitehaven beach, a 7 km beach known for it's extra fine white sand and its turquise water. And it didn't dissapoint 😍
We went to a little viewpoint on the island, which offered a magnificent view over the islands. 🤩 really really gorgeous!
After enjoying lunch at the beach we went to another island for snorkeling at a part of the great barrier reef and got to another viewpoint. 🤿
The vivid and colourful underwater world was simply awesome! 🐚🐠🐟Pictures are about to follow, as my actioncam broke in Byron bay and I thus have to wait for the pics from the tour agency 😬🙈
Back in Airlie I ended the day by watching the sunset. 🌅
My second morning began quiet early, as I was picked up at 5:45 am for the highlight of my day - I did a skydive 🪂
I was super excited about it and loved every second. Even the freefall didn't feel scary but offered lovely views 🤩🤩 it for sure hasn't been my last skydive 😁 pics & video are about to come 😉
After getting back to town and doing some Yoga at the coast, I went to Shute Harbor to do a little hike through the rainforest and to another beach and a viewpoint. 🌴🌾
Fun fact: did you know that you could go to a different beach each day for 10 years in Australia?! 😯
Back in Airlie I chilled at the lagoon, watched the sunset again and then got ready for a very very long night - as my bus is at 3:30 am and I didn't book a room for the night 😂🤦🏼‍♀️
