Day 11/16- Inverloch to Melbourne

Finally we arrived in Melbourne and we met two dear friends from Lamon. They hosted us for one week. The next days:
We walked around the Botanical garden with our friends and had a tasty hamburger together. We also enjoyed long UNO matches 🤣. Sofia still had some back pain and she stretched every day. We went swimming a couple of times and we explored the city a little bit. We also went to the Yarra market with Deborah (Sofia’s friend) and we had a nice dinner with her family (her husband Martin and her one year son Maxwell). We had a daily trip with Alain and in on the last evening we ate an amazing pizza made by one of our friend (Prosperottero detto pizza) and Alain offered us a nice gelato made by the company he works for.
We really enjoyed these days even if the weather in Melbourne can make you crazy 🤪Leggi altro

Day 17 - Melbourne to Devonport

In the morning we went for a swim and then we got ready to leave Melbourne.
We said goodbye to our friends and we headed to Geelong to catch our ferry to Tasmania ⛴️.

The ferry left at 6.45 pm, onboard we had dinner with some white wine enjoying the sunset.

We went to sleep on our recliners and we slept better than expected.Leggi altro

Day 18 - Devonport to Cradle Mountain

First thing when we landed in Tasmania: chiropractor for Sofia 🫠
That helped a lot and she was feeling better straight away.

We went by the job agency office and than we headed to Cradle mountain national park 🏞️

It was rainy and foggy, but the campsite there had a cozy camp kitchen with a fireplace where we could warm up a bit.Leggi altro

Day 19 - Cradle Mountains to Mole Creek

We woke up after a rainy night and we went for a walk in the National Park. We did the lakes circuit and we felt at home as the landscape reminded us of our Dolomits (but with palms and wombats around). We really enjoining being surrounded by mountains and wildlife. After that we reached Mole Creek where we were able to spot a platypus (it was our first and only one).Leggi altro

Day 21 - Dunalley to Dodges Ferry

We visited the stunning South East Tasman National Park with its massive cliffs (Devil’s kitchen and Tassie Arch) and then we found a cozy place and we wormed up a little bit. Woodstove was really helpful and the owner of the camping was really nice with us.Leggi altro

Day 22 - Hobart Salamanca market

As we heard that Salamanca market was taking place every Saturday in Hobart, we took the chance to visit it as it apparently was quite a big event in the city.
After breakfast we drove to Hobart where luckily we found a parking spot near the market, it was a very busy day for the city!

At first sight the market appeared huge, with lots of people browsing the stands and trying different local products.
We had a stroll all along and tried some Chinese food and a delicious chilean empanada. 🇨🇱

In the afternoon we reached our camping spot for the night, just a 20 min drive from the city.Leggi altro

After a freezing and rainy night at "The Lea" campground, where we encountered kangaroos, opossum and some sort of rat jumping like a Kangaroo, we headed for Mount Wellington.

It was foggy and we couldn't see much from the top, so we came down the road a bit, had a little walk to an observatory poit and as soon as the fog cleared, we drove up to the top again.

From there we could see the whole city of Hobart, stunning view!

We headed down towards the city again, and we stopped at the Cascade brewery for a lovely fresh beer.

We decided to came back to the camping spot in dodges ferry to spend the night, where we cooked a long waited for pasta al ragu. We met some nice people and the camping owner dedicated a song to us on the radio stationLeggi altro

Day 24 - Hobart to Coles bay (Freycinet)

We left in the morning and headed towards Coles bay, as we saw there were some interesting trails and nice camping spots.
We took the shortest road to get there, without knowing that it was 20 km of gravel in the middle of a forest.
After this stretch of quite stressful road, we reached closer to the sea, where some stunning landscapes welcomed us, with beautiful little bays and mountains in the distance.

Day 25 - Wineglass bay

We went for a hike up to Wineglass bay lookout, which took us under 1 hour time to get to the top.
From there we could see the bay from above, unfortunately it was an overcast day which wasn’t really adding to the beauty of the scenery.
We decided not to proceed and go down to the bay, instead we came back and visited another little bay (honeymoon bay) where Andrea took a freezing bath and we then had some lunch.Leggi altro
