      Bäume der anderen Art

      Auf unserem Weg durchs Outback gab es verrücktes zu sehen. Neben blauen Bäumen gab es zum Beispiel auch "liegende" Bäume. Das ist eine Eukalyptus-Art die durch den stetig wehenden Wind einfach zur Seite gewachsen ist. Sieht aber auf jeden Fall sehr verrückt aus 😃 was es mit den blauen Bäumen auf sich hat, konnten wir an dem Tag nicht heraus finden.

      Wir sind danach aber noch ganz fix an den Strand gefahren. Zum schwimmen hatten wir leider keine Zeit. Aber es gab schöne Sonnenblumen in den Dünen 🌻 irgendwie ein ungewohnter Ort dafür, aber sehr schön anzusehen.      Les mer

      Ellendale Pool

      Unser nächster Halt ist am Ellendale Pool. Hier stehen in erster Linie viele Camper ... und wir 😂

      Wie sind wir hier gelandet? Tja ... gute Frage. Es war einfach der nächstgelegene "grüne Fleck" auf Google Maps 😂
      Und es ist wirklich schön hier. Mit dem Flusslauf, den Bäumchen und den Felsen sieht es hier deutlich anders aus, als bei unserem letzten Stop.

      Aber leider haben wir nicht mehr all zu lange Zeit, da wir auch wieder zurück fahren müssen.

      Aber für ein paar Gruppengotos reicht es noch 😋      Les mer

      Jurien Bay und Ellendale Pool

      Nachdem wir drei Tage nicht geduscht hatten, verbrachten wir den Vormittag in einem Stadtpark, um nacheinander in einer öffentlichen Dusche duschen zu gehen. Dies nahm einige Zeit in Anspruch, aber es war auch mal schön einen ruhigen Morgen zu haben. Der Park befand sich neben der Jurien Bay, einer schönen Bucht mit türkisblauem Wasser und weißem Sandstrand, der in hohen Sanddünen endete. Nach dem Duschen machten Alizée und ich einen längeren Strandspaziergang und machten einige Dronenaufnahmen von der schönen Kulisse.

      Schließlich fuhren wir ein Stück weiter nördlich, bis zu Ellendale Pool, einem Fluss umgeben von rotbraunen Felsen. Dort schlugen wir unsere Zelte am Flussufer auf und grillten an einer öffentlichen Grillstelle, welche in Australien überall zu finden sind. Die Leute auf dem Campingplatz waren alle sehr offen und gesprächig. So lernten wir eine Familie kennen, die mit ihrer vier Monate alten Katze reisten, eine ältere deutsche Frau, die alleine durch Australien reiste und ein australisches Pärchen, mit denen wir noch eine Weile Karten spielten.       Tschüss Australien 🐨🪃🦘

      Langsam müssen wir uns auch schon wieder von Australien verabschieden.

      Wir haben das Auto brav vollgetankt zurückgegeben. Aber an der Tankstelle ist uns noch die Tageszeitung aufgefallen 🤣 wir haben es dort auf die Titelseite geschafft.

      Ansonsten sei noch erwähnt, dass die hier einfach mal weiße Kakadus im Baum sitzen haben, wie bei uns Tauben 😄

      Abends geht es dann los in Richtung Mauritius. Dort endet auch schon unser zweiter Teil der Weltreise 🙈      Les mer

      Coral Bay to Getaldton

      Early morning for me, I got up around 6.15 am to have enough time to eat breakfast without stress and fix the last things in the car before I go to pick up Ya-Fan and Kris from their place. We planned to leave around 8 am so we have enough time to get to Geraldton.

      As I started talking to two girls I was running about late and as I was picking up the phone to text them that I will be there a bit later I got a message from Ya-Fan that they slept over and are running late as well. So I didn’t need to stress out and could finish all calm and easy. I picked them up around 9.15 am and their stuff was easily fitting in the car. We stopped quickly at the bakery so they could buy something for breakfast and even I got a pie for later. So we finally left Coral Bay at 9.30.

      They had a nice evening and especially Kris had a few drinks too much so he took a nap almost straight away after we left. 😂

      Ya-Fan and I really had some good conversations during our trip! We had to stop once to fuel up and use the restrooms and just stretch out our legs for a while, but not too long as the flies were horrible here 😬
      At least Kris was feeling good again after his nap 😉

      We arrived in Geraldton at around 4.10 pm which was really good. We had no problems on the way and traveling with them is super easy and nice as I never got tired or bored driving so long.
      We stopped to find a place to stay overnight. They found a lodge where they got a room for a really nice price and I planned to drop them off there and go to a campground nearby and pick them up in the morning again.
      When we arrived at the lodge we all thought immediately that it could be possible for me to pitch my tent here as there was a huge backyard behind the buildings.
      Ya-Fan went into the check-in and ask and I was more than welcome to stay and put my tent where ever I want and use the kitchen, toilets, and showers as well for a really nice price. So that was just perfect!
      So we spent the rest of the afternoon and the evening together, talking and later on cooking and eating together. We even watched all my whale shark tour pictures and the video together so now I finally even saw the video and it’s really good as well 😊

      As we all were super tired we went to bed early. The plan is to leave between 8.30 and 9 am tomorrow as their flight from Perth to Melbourne is departing at 3.15 pm.      Les mer

      Backpacking ohne Rucksack ...

      Heute wollen wir einen auf Backpacker machen. Wir haben uns ein Auto gemietet und Tickets für den Kalbarri Nationalpark reserviert. Dort gibt es pinke Seen und ein Nature's Window.

      Doch wieder einmal machen uns die Behörden einen Strich durch die Rechnung. Die Crew darf erst von Bord, wenn der Großteil der Gäste weg ist 🙈 und das zieht sich in die Länge, da wir nur mit Shuttlebussen das Gelände verlassen dürfen. Es gibt ganze drei Busse 😡 Die Stimmung ist also am Morgen schon dementsprechend, weil man bis zum Nationalpark 2h Fahrzeit einplanen muss. Wegen Verkehr und eventuellen Fotostops 😋
      Also fällt der Park schon mal flach und wir suchen nach neuen Zielen.

      Anstelle von 10 Uhr sind wir erst gegen 11:30 Uhr bei der Autovermietung. Direkt daneben ist ein Pizza Hut, den wir gleich stürmen, um uns noch mit einem Mittagessen zu versorgen. Eigentlich wollten wir noch bei Aldi vorbei (ja ... richtig gelesen 😋) und uns was zum picknicken besorgen. Aber wir wollen keine Zeit mehr verlieren und nur noch losfahren.
      Mit vier Pizzen geht es also los 🍕🥰

      Paul darf seinen Wunsch erfüllen und uns durch das "Outback" fahren 😅 naja ... es zumindest ankratzen. Wir anderen genießen die Pizza, machen Fotos und spielen Spurhalteassistent 😂      Les mer

      Heute ein Reisetag mit dem Ziel bis Perth zu gelangen
      Zwischenstopps zum Einkaufen und für Toilette
      Getreidefelder soweit das Auge reicht vorbei an Dünen
      Wir haben bewusst einiges ausgelassen (Kalbarri,
      Lancelin etc welches wir im 2018 schon besucht hatten) und wollen die restliche Zeit für den Südwesten verwenden - Margaret River und Espeance 😍      Les mer

      Relaxing

      Well I titled this relaxing but I'm not sure that's exactly right. We decided to make the interesting and frankly rather pointless decision to wake up at 5,30am to try and see the sunrise.

      Despite our best efforts the sun was blocked by clouds and we did not get to our destination until long after the sunrise. That being said, the walk was ok and the lighthouse was ok. I was expecting more particularly after out 45minute walk to get there.

      I found it hilarious watching one of the girls. She posts a lot and I love her attitude towards it all. We did however end up sitting on one of the ugliest beaches ever. As a result our only option was to take a very limited photo that could be edited to improve the colour. The beach itself was grey and covered in dead bracken and seaweed. Geraldton is not a very picturesque place at times.

      On our way back we stopped for coffee as we had been awake for 3hrs and none of us had eaten or really slept. Once back I did laundry. Headed to the laundrette to put all of our stuff on to wash. I began my new book from the day before while I waited. If you ignore the loud and rude aboriginals behind me, it was quite asthetic.

      I then watched some tv and relaxed in the shade outside my hostel. I spent quite I while here a si was beginning to feel very tired thanks to the heat and lack of sleep.

      In the evening we hit happy hour. $10 cocktails, I got a lychee and basil, very nice. But one was enough. I finished packing and cooked dinner before heading to bed.      Les mer

      Soooo nun heißt es schon wieder "Tschüss Perth" auf geht's zur Western Australia Erfahrung in einen 4WD mit Zeltdach 😅 Perth nach Broome. Interessant wird das ganze schon deswegen, da die meisten Plätze ausgebucht sind. (hier fangen gerade Ferien an😮‍💨) Lassen wir uns mal überraschen. Für heute haben wir zum Glück einen & morgen geht's Richtung Kalbarri Nationalpark.Les mer

      After lunch I headed to the cathedral. Despite its beautiful exterior I was not a massive fan of its interior. The person who designed it was also the priest at the time
      Hawes was a trained architect and designed the entire building. I did a tour and was a little disappointed that the focus was on the religious history rather than the architectural history.

      That being said the tour was also a little hard to follow. Our guide kept talking as thoigh the building was ancient but it was not. Construction began in 19,13. Built in 3 parts before finally being completed the interior has also been changed twice since then. First with vatican 2 then with a massive restoration that happened recently. As a result very little of the interior is original or in its original position. This made for a rather strange narrative that confused me greatly.

      After I head back to the beach to meet the girls from my room and after a little sunbathing we headed to a bar. We all bought this toblerone cocktail which was frankly disappointing. The girls had raved about it and said how nice it was. Personally I found it far too sweet and there was a strange taste I couldn't quite identify. Overall I didnt like it. But they made for cute photo and I enjoyed spending time with the girls.      Les mer
