      First day in Prague

      18 de fevereiro de 2020, República Checa ⋅ ⛅ 5 °C

After my overnight journey to Prague I arrives at 8am. I wasn't able to check into my hostel so dumped my bag there and went for a free walking tour.

This city is incredible. I feel like I'm back in a main spot again.

      Really is something special there.

Can't wait to go exploring again tomorrow

      Last day in Prague

      19 de fevereiro de 2020, República Checa ⋅ ☁️ 3 °C

Well I can't believe I have been here already for 2 days ..... it's gone so fast.

This city is incredible. The architecture is like a masterpiece on ever corner, waking under arches and over bridges that have been there for hundreds of years. The colour and the vibrancy of the place makes you feel alive right from entering the city. From street performers to smoked sausage and ham on the streets to legends and myths at every corner.

It has been an incredible experience and one which I will absolutely be coming back to experience again.

      K wie Kafka

      13 de fevereiro, República Checa ⋅ ☁️ 6 °C

Gleicher Ort.

      Prague - Day 1

      5 de janeiro de 2020, República Checa ⋅ ☀️ 2 °C

So we set off towards the Old Town on our first day in Prague and I was pleasantly surprised to see the Christmas Markets were still going strong! I think Ed had seen enough Christmas Markets to last a life time and the poor vendors must’ve been over too although they all would finish up on the 6th January so only one more day. And nothing beats the smell of Christmas spices and roasting meats while you explore the city. The astronomical clock is beautiful and our photo doesn’t do it justice as the sun/shadows weren’t in our favour.

We decided to get a view of the famous Charles Bridge before walking over it and Ed got a great shot of the size and amazing architecture. We wandered up to the Prague Castle and spent a couple of hours exploring its interesting history. The Cathedral in the Castle grounds is a wonder to behold! I also had to include some photos of Ed’s amazing lunch up at the restaurant. My fresh ginger tea was also amazing :)

On our way down from the Castle we found the famous Stredoveka Krcma (Medieval Tavern) and headed down into the eerie stone pub which has been open daily since 1375. That was an experience!

Our walk home took us over the Charles Bridge and we had some great views looking over the city (once you manoeuvre around the thousands of tourists and their selfies!)

A day well spent and some sore legs to put up by the end of the day! Lauren X

      Last day in Prague

      22 de junho de 2022, República Checa ⋅ ⛅ 77 °F

      Miles: 4.2 Steps: 10329
      Flights stairs: 9

Today was our last day in Prague and we had a nice relaxing time. We headed up to Petrin Hill on a funicular and went to the Mirror maze - it was cute. Wish it would have been harder, but still fun. Then we stopped at the Petrin Tower, Prague’s attempt to duplicate the Eiffel Tower. Built slightly differently and MUCH smaller, but neat to see. We also toured the beautiful rose gardens and then took the funicular back down.

After that we headed back to the Head of Franz Kafka to see if it was working today, and found it was - kind of. There are 42 moving plates, and sadly 2 of them didn’t rotate. Still saw the gist of it, but the broken pieces didn’t allow it to do all it was supposed to do. If you google it you can see it working correctly.

Then we headed thru the city for one last look. Everywhere we go we see Starbucks - it’s amazing how they are different in each old city and morph right in with the surroundings.

Prague is definitely a beautiful place - and their public transportation system is the best we’ve seen yet. The US has a long way to go to catch up with the rest of the world it seems.

      Prague’s weather causing issues

      20 de junho de 2022, República Checa ⋅ ⛅ 81 °F

      Miles: 3.73 Steps: 9702
      Flights stairs: 9

This is the first town where we have been seriously hampered by the weather. Pretty good considering we’re going on 90 days of travel. Yesterday it was stifling hot - 100° in the shade! So we didn’t do much but shop in the mall. Today we tried to go out, but a giant storm blew in, took the temps down to 50-60’s with severe rain, thunder and lighting, so we gave up and went back to our hostel mid day knowing the forecast was much better the next few days. crossing our fingers.

We did go to a few things before heading “home”. We saw the Dancing house - they also call it “Fred and Ginger” here. It’s a building that is meant to look like Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers dancing. It was pretty neat.

Then we headed to the “Head of Franz Kafka” - a sculpture of a German famous writer. It was not running because of the weather, but it was supposed to change forms and spin. We’re going to try to see it again before we leave and see if it’s working.

We went out in the evening after the storm passed and went to Letna Park, which is close to where we’re staying. Gave us a nice view of the sunset and of the city below.

During this trip in some cities I add in a few extra days here and there to “rest”, do laundry, get shopping done, plan the next countries, things like that. Luckily that was the case here in Prague so we had a few extra days to give. It was nice to just sit and relax and take it easy. And we have a private room at the hostel, so even better!!

      Letna Park Beer Garden

      29 de setembro de 2022, República Checa ⋅ ⛅ 14 °C

For the afternoon, we went to Letna Park. Omg, having so much beautiful greenspace in a city makes such a difference. This area was very non-touristy because it was on the other side of the river and farther north where most people don't venture to. The park was beautiful and so lovely to see the colours changing 🥰 we had stunning views of the river and just enjoyed the fresh air. We also walked by one of the world's largest metronomes! Unfortunately it was not running while we were passing.Leia mais

Wowowoww! Prague is beautiful. The streets are lined with beautiful buildings and the canal is clean! One of the castles looked like it was taken from Disney. We just walked around in the evening at the end, we got chimney cakes 🥰 mine was like an apple crisp. Delicious!!!Leia mais

      Last night with Mia

      30 de setembro de 2022, República Checa ⋅ ☁️ 12 °C

What a time it has been with Mia. We will meet up again and were travel buddies :) hopefully sooner rather than later we are hoping on doing a trip together again 🤗 we celebrated our last evening by going out and getting some YUMMY food. We split a classic Czech dish which was lamb with red cabbage and dumplings. Omg it was so good. The meat just absolutely melted in your mouth. Then we also split a prosciutto pizza. One thing we noticed was there was quite a bit of Italian presence. Many pizza and pasta places. Also funny, we were splurging a little bit because it was our last night. And our whole dinner together cost less then our separate budget friendly meal in SeitzerlandLeia mais
