      I Colori di Burano 🏝️🎨🏡

      Wow, este es el ejemplo práctico de cómo no tener expectativas puede jugar a nuestro favor 🤩

      Había escuchado cosas buenas de Burano, pero nada como lo que me he encontrado. Se trata de una isla en la que viven unas 2000 personas, la mayoría de ellas pescadores 🐠

      Cuenta la leyenda que las casas son de estos colores tan llamativos para que los pescadores pudieran encontrar su casa al volver de trabajar por la noche 🧐 No me quiero imaginar las historias que tuvieron que pasar antes de implementar esta "regla", si es que fue esa la verdadera razón 😅

      El paseo se me hace muy placentero y me fijo en que la isla está sorprendentemente limpia para la cantidad de turismo que recibe. Pizza es el menú de hoy, la primera desde que llegué a Italia y tenía que ser hoy 😃

      Me doy cuenta de que ya pido todo de carrerilla en los restaurantes y los camareros me dicen que hablo demasiado rápido JAJAJAJAJ CAZZO 🤌🏼🤌🏼🤌🏼🍕🍕🍕      Lue lisää

      Venice

      Back on land! We dropped our bags and headed off for Murano and Burano. Burano was an absolute highlight - less busy than Venice with brightly coloured houses! In the square some fresh seafood was being cooked up! Later on, we met up with our fellow cruisers for dinner before going our separate ways tomorrow.Lue lisää

      Day 38 - Murano, Burano, Venice

      Today we were up at a time that felt early! 8.30am we had to be at the ferry, a 6 minute walk from our airbnb.
      We caught the ferry over to Murano which is famous for it’s glass blowing factories and small local glass blowers with their shops. We got a coffee once there… I tried the cappuccino and was surprised she put chocolate on top, a westerners dream right there!
      We walked around and it was peaceful before masses of tourists arrived and every shop wasn’t open yet. There were some shops we walked into that the owners wouldn’t even acknowledge our existence so made sure we didn’t hang around in them. We finally found a place that was happy to let you watch their glass blowing at Wave Murano Glass, though you may enter the factory, you must leave via their showroom (some may say gift shop, typical Europe) By this point I had enough of glass and it was getting busy so we got the ferry to Burano… Now I moo’d as we got onto this ferry, but cattle trucks have better conditions than these ferries, we were packed in like sardines and it was hot. Least cattle get water and a feed!
      We got to Burano, it is famous for Lace museum, the bell tower that is leaning (told Katie as we missed Pisa she saw something leaning!) and the colourful houses as this is a fishing island.
      We grabbed lunch, some ice cream and photos and it was starting to get really hot so we opted to take the hour ferry ride back to Venice.

      We got back to the accomodation and had a relax - Katie sorting washing, me going to do the groceries… weird ways to relax!
      I had booked a gondola ride for Katie & I at 6pm so we trotted off to that, it was excellent, Chiara our gondolier took us downtown the back canals of the Jewish Ghetto and surroundings. She let us know about the buildings we were seeing and stories about them, she even sang us a little song at the end that Katie wanted to shrivel up and die at this point! I thought is was hilarious as I knew that was the one thing Katie wanted to avoid! Katie admitted she was nervous how close the gondola was to walls and other boats and had to reframe from saying anything… least it’s not just my driving she wants to use her pretend pedals!

      After the gondola we went back to the apartment and had dinner. After dinner, as we had passes for the Vaporetto ferries for the day, we took a ride on a couple heading for the grand canal to see the sights from the boat and give our legs a break. On the walk home we got our mandatory gelato, probably worst one we’ve had so far but still not bad enough to not eat it!      Lue lisää

      Kunterbunt in Burano

      Kurzer Hand entschlossen wir uns den heutigen Tag außerhalb der Hauptinsel zu verbringen.

      Unser heutiges Ziel: die kunterbunte Insel Burano.
      Bekannt ist Burano hauptsächlich für sein traditionelles Handwerk, die Spitzenstickerei. Aber auch die vielen kontrastreich gestrichenen Hausfassaden sind mittlerweile weltbekannt.
      Diese Farbenpracht zieht vor allem Maler und Fotografen auf die kleine Insel.      Lue lisää

      Burano, Murano

      Nach dem Frühstück haben wir uns auf den Weg gemacht zu den Fondamente Nuove, von wo die Boote nach Murano, Burano und Torcello auslaufen. Die 50-minütige Fahrt war friedlich, denn wir hatten das Glück, einen Schattenplatz zu ergattern.
      Wie vom Reiseführer empfohlen fuhren wir direkt nach Burano. Ausser Souvenirläden gibt es nur die berühmten farbigen Häuser zu sehen - etwas kitschig aber schööön... 😊
      Das Boot zurück nach Murano war dann fast leer, die Fahrt sehr angenehm. Den nächsten Punkt auf unserer Liste haben wir mit dem Besuch der Osteria al Duomo abgearbeitet - war sehr lecker!
      Grundsätzlich war dann Windowshopping angesesagt, aber man kann ja nicht nach Murano und kein Glas kaufen!!... 😂 So bin ich nun stolze Besitzerin eines Kunstweks für meine neue Wohnung: Algen in passender Farbe zur Küchenwand, yeah!
      Glücklich und um ein paar Euro leichter ging es danach an der Friedhofs-Insel vorbei zurück - na ja, nicht aufs Festland aber nach bella Venezia.      Lue lisää

      Birthday, Glas, Spitze und Farben

      Heute hatten wir ein Birthday- Girl. Lady M. feiert heute mit uns Ihren Tag. Der ursprüngliche Grund, warum wir diesen Trip gemeinsam angetreten haben.
      Der Tag begann natürlich erstmal mit dem Auspacken von kleinen Geschenken für unser Birthday -Girl und einem YES Törtchen für jeden, als erstes Frühstück.
      Dann haben wir uns auf den Weg zur Vaparetto Station Richtung Murano gemacht. Der Weg durch die kleinen Gassen über die vielen Kanäle hat schon etwas. Manchmal endet eine Brücke auch einfach als Sackgasse und du stehst vor einer Haustür. Gefühlt haben wir auf unseren Wegen heute alle 400 Brücken überquert 😉.
      Erste Station unseres Tages, die Insel Murano. Man kommt hier mit dem Ticket für die Vaparetto‘s hin.
      Murano Glas hat bestimmt jeder schon mal gehört. Ich bin sicher kein Fan dieser Staubfänger aus Glas (sorry), aber es war spannend den Glasbläsern bei der Arbeit über die Schulter zu schauen. Wie aus einem glühenden Klumpen, mit viel Geschick alle möglichen Formen entstehen. Man kann auch hier schön entlang an Kanälen spazieren und alle fünf Meter trifft man auf ein Lädchen mit Muranoglas von extrem kitschig bis modern im Design.
      Nächster Stop, die Insel Burano. Was in Murano das Glas, ist ist in Burano die Spitze, die man hier alle paar Meter angeboten bekommt.
      Was Burano aber so besonders macht, sind die Farben. Die Häuser sind in kräftigen Farben gestrichen, was bei dem Sonnenschein ganz besonders gewirkt hat.
      Zurück in Venedig (🤔 Murano und Burano gehören natürlich auch zu Venedig) sind wir in der Abenddämmerung über den Marcusplatz gebummelt.
      Zum Abschluss dieses besonderen Tages von Lady M. gab es neben ein paar Cocktails, ein sehr leckeres Abendmahl in einem ganz tollen Restaurant.
      Sehr empfehlenswert: 6342 A Le Tole - Spaghetteria Pizzeria, falls es euch nach Venedig verschlägt. Tolles Ambiente und sehr gutes Essen.
      Nicht zu vergessen, die letze Mahlzeit ist natürlich ein Eis, im Land der besten Eismacher ever!      Lue lisää

      Tag 3: Insel Hopping mit dem Vaporetto

      Venedig ohne Murano, Burano, Lido, Fahrt über den Canal Grande etc. wäre ja irgendwie unvollständig. Also standen für heute Murano und Burano mit dem Vaporetto (Wassertaxi) auf dem Plan. Kostet allerdings ein wenig Zeit. Gut zwei Stunden reine Fahrzeit vom WoMo-Stellplatz aus mit dem Vaporetto, hin und zurück.

      Gelohnt hat es sich allemal. Unglaublich, welche Kreativität die Glasbläser bei ihren Produkten an den Tag legen. Die Vielfalt an Formen und Farben ist einfach überwältigend. Man tastet sich von Schaufenster zu Schaufenster und
      taucht auch mal in einen der unzähligen Muranoglas-Läden ein.

      Ähnlich auf der kleineren Insel Burano: hier sind es die kräftigen und intensiven Farben der Häuser, die das Auge beschäftigen. Egal, in welche der engen Gassen man einbiegt, welchen Kanal man entlang schlendert oder welchen Platz man besucht, Bunte Häuser erwarten einen schon.
      Das frühere Spezialprodukt von Burano, die Burano-Spitzen, trifft man eher etwas seltener an. Aber immer noch sehr teuer.

      Auf jeden Fall sollte man die beiden Inseln nicht auslassen, wenn man schon mal hier ist.      Lue lisää

      Verliebt

      Ich habe mich auf den ersten Blick verliebt. So schnell ging es… Zack und vorbei. Ich wusste sofort, entscheide ich mich für Burano gibt es keine Winterdepressionen mehr.
      Tja, Glück für Martin, Pesch für mich… Burano ist eine Insel und trotz allem keine Option. 😂
      Dennoch… ich weiß, Pipi Langstrumph und Bine Brändle würden sofort mit mir dort hin ziehen.

      Aber von Anfang an. Es ging heute früh mit dem Boot nach Murano. Die Insel ist bekannt für ihre Glaskunst. Diese kann man überall in Venedig kaufen. Bis 1200 waren die Glasbläser/innen auch noch in Venedig vertreten und „mussten“ dann jedoch die Insel wechseln.

      Danach ging es nach Burano. Die Insel ist für ihre Spitze bekannt aber die meisten kommen wohl eher wegen den bunten Häusern. Jedes sieht anders aus und dennoch harmonisieren alle nebeneinander.

      Nach der Inseltour konnten wir es dann nicht lassen und haben uns auch noch Tourihotspots angesehen. Den Marcusplatz mit Dom und den Markusturm. Von hier hat man einen tollen Blick über die ganze Stadt.      Lue lisää

      Day out at Murano & Burano

      Sunrise is late here in Venice which makes it hard to get moving in the morning especially when its -2 outside. We decided to head out to the islands to have a look today. Our apartment said today would be our best day but once again the clouds came in about 10am. We caught the water bus out to Murano first, this is famous for it's glass work. It was a little chilly as the sun disappeared. We had a cuppa to warm up. The kids had hot chocolate and it's completely different from home. It is really thick and rich looking and not made with milk. After a cuppa we visited the glass musuem and then had lunch which was more pasta. It was nice but not as good as what we have had. After lunch we caught the water bus to Burano which is well known for its lace and colourful houses. This is why we wanted the sun to take photos of the houses. Well they were bright without the sun. The main income for Burano is fishing and is often covered in heavy fog, hence the brightly coloured homes for the fisherman to find their way home. It's not a very big Island but it was just delightful walking around the canals and looking at all the houses. The lace museum was closed today, which Brodie was pretty happy about, but he was the one who wanted to visit the glass museum. By now it's 4pm and the night air is coming in so we headed back to the water bus as it takes over an hour to get back to Venice. On our way back we saw the most beautiful sunset at 4.30pm. I have never seen such a bright pink sunset and was surprised to see the sun setting as we hadn't seen it since 10am. We didn't feel like we did much today but we are all tired and won't be long out of bed.

      Burano

      Nach Murano geht es noch nach Burano. Früher war diese Insel bekannt für ihre Stickereien heute für ihre farbenprächtigen Häuser. Die Insel hat einen ganz anderen Charme als Venedig. Falls man früh aufsteht hat man die Insel gemeimsam mit dem Einheimischen fast für sich alleine. Hier geht alles ein wenig ruhiger zu.Lue lisää
