      Asakusa Schrein

      Und dann haben wir doch noch einen blühenden Baum entdeckt. Leider haben wir die Kirschblüte um eine Woche verpasst.
      Am Senso-ji-Tempel haben wir eine Kerze für unsere Lieben angezündet und nach unserer Zukunft gefragt.
      Nach Kultur kommt Shopping. Ich hab mir einen Touri-Kimono gekauft. Inspiriert von den vielen Mädchen und jungen Paaren die hier zum Schrein miit ihren traditionellen Kimonos kommen.      Läs mer

      Asakusa and Yanaka

      After discovering some of 'new' Tokyo we decided to see older, more traditional parts.
      In the morning we took a train to Asakusa where we straight away found old fashioned streets and much smaller buildings than the skyscrapers we were surrounded by the day before. The oldest and one of the most significant temples in Tokyo, Senso Ji, can also be found here which is known for its big red lanterns. While we were there we met a Japanese man who spoke a bit of Hungarian and had fried mashed potato sandwiches. In a little shop we bought a postcard with an old painting of the temple and we also bought some souvenir chopsticks from a 100 yen shop which had lots of beautiful bowls and other Japanese cooking stuff.
      Later we walked over to Yanaka, another famously traditional qurater full of temples and shrines. On the way there we saw an amazing drum performance in the street. After a picnic in a Japanese garden style park with some real cheap streetfood (as lack of English signs we accidently but happily ended up with more fried mashed potato), we visited Nezu Shrine. Here there is a long tunnel of red gates which were great for taking photos.
      We headed home not too late with aching feet ready for a rest and to get safely inside before the typhoon arrived!...      Läs mer

      Senso-ji Temple

      Wow.

      I had no idea it was so huge!! Senso-ji is so amazing. I just can't stop fan girling about it haha :)
      It is such a special place, one that made me constantly stop in awe.

      Normally I get easily bothered, irritated, etc. by other people when exploring sites, especially when trying to take photos but I don't recall feeling that once. It was such an amazing place and I was so happy to be exploring it!

      I noticed not a lot of people were following the customs for when visiting a shrine. People followed the purifying all fine and dandy but unless it was a 日本人, then people completely disregarded things like bowing before entering the gates of the shrine, keeping to the side of the pavement as you approcach the shrine, etc.
      That made me a little a sad and confused but I did my best to follow the customs and show my respect and appreciation. I hope it becomes more common for others to do so too.

      The buildings were so tall, せが高い!!
      It was impressive and had me in a constant state of wonder. I love Senso-ji temple so much and I feel like I could spend a whole day there! Madeleine said that it's really amazing to visit at night - there's less people, the place is lit up and the shops close their doors, revealing numerous traditional Japanese art. It all sounds amazing and I can't wait to visit there again and see that 😻

      The grounds were so big and because they linked up to souvenir shops and a shopping alley, it was easy to get confused with where you were. But I loved every bit of it and scored myself some lovely items. They had one of those ball machines that you put money in and then turn to get a toy in a ball out. I saw that you could get an otter and I got it on the first go! I was so happy and blessed and I can't wait to give it to Lachlan :D

      Asaksa-Schrein

      Heute machen wir uns auf den Weg zum Asaksa Schrein. Ein bisschen japanische Kultur abseits von Manga und Elektronik.
      Schon beim Betreten des Tors merkt man eine ganz andere Stimmung als noch in Akihabara. Viele Japaner sind typisch mit Kimono gekleidet und reihen sich in die Schlange zum Beten ein. In Japan “betritt“ man als Gläubiger den Tempel/Schrein nicht sondern man steht davor und schaut nur hinein. Bevor man die Stufen zum Schrein hinaufläuft reinigt man erstmal seine Hände und seinen Mund. Dafür gibt es immer Wasserspender neben dem Schrein. Wenn man sich gereinigt hat, schreitet man die Stufen nach oben und spendet dem Gott Geld (meist 5 Yen). Danach folgt ein Verbeugungs-Gebetsritual. Nach dem Geldeinwurf wird sich zweimal verbeugt, dann zweimal in die Hände geklatscht und in andächtiger Haltung gebetet. Nach dem Gebet wird sich nochmals verbeugt und rückwarts zurück gelaufen.
      Wenn man will kann man sich dann noch sein Horoskop besorgen. Für ca. 1€ holt man sich einen Stab aus einer Holzbox die eine Nummer anzeigt. Die Nummer ist einer Schublade zugeordnet, von welcher man sich dann das Horoskop herausnehmen kann. Wenn es dir Glück voraussagt steckt man es in die Tasche und nimmt es mit nach Hause. Ist das Horoskop “negativ“ , also sagt es dir eine schlechte Zukunft voraus, musst du es an einen dafür vorgesehenen Holzrahmen heften.
      Der Asaksa- Schrein ist einer der größten Schreine Tokios und ich muss sagen es war wirklich beeindruckend das alles zu sehen und schon fast direkt einzutauchen. Diese Seite Japans gefällt mir deutlich besser!
      Hinter dem Schrein gibt es noch eine Shoppingstreet, wo es japanische Spezialitäten und Soivenirs im Überfluss kaufen kann.      Läs mer

      Senso-ji & Five story pagoda

      Getting washed away soon...
      This temple was competed in 645 and is Tokyo's oldest temple.
      According to legend, 2 brothers fished out Kannon's, the goddess of mercy, statue from the nearby river. Though they put it back in the river, but it kept coming back to them so they decided to build a temple for her here.

      Ez a templom 645-ben készült el és Tokyo legrégebbi temploma.
      A legenda szerint 2 testvér kihorgászta Kannon, az irgalom istennőjének, szobrát a közeli folyóbó. Ők ugyan visszarakták a folyóba, de az mindig visszatért hozzájuk, úgyhogy úgy döntöttek hogy építenek neki egy templomot itt.      Läs mer

      Sensoji-templet

      Sensoji-templet är Tokyos populäraste tempel. Och det märktes när vi var där. Så mycket folk! Flera besökare var uppklädda. Templet har anor från 600-talet. Huvudbyggnaden är dock återuppbyggd efter Andra världskriget.

      Nakamise är en shoppinggata som leder fram till templet. Här var det ännu trängre med alla besökare. Här köpte vi japanskt godis, degiga bollar på en pinne. Inte något som vi uppskattade särskilt, mest en lustig konsistens att tugga i sig.      Läs mer

      Asakusa!

      La nostra prima colazione in Giappone prevede riso in bianco - volendo con aggiunta di vongole - pollo al curry, salmone al vapore e zuppa di miso… grande festa per Gio, spirito di sopravvivenza per Luca.
      Iniziamo la giornata con la visita del quartiere Asakusa, attraversiamo Kaminarimon gate e percorriamo la strada Nakamise, contornata da bancarelle con souvenir e cibi di vario genere.
      Raggiungiamo il Senso-ji Temple e la vicina pagoda - purtroppo sotto una leggera pioggia - dove testiamo nel tempio la nostra fortuna.. il nostro bastoncino, ottenuto scuotendo un contenitore di acciaio, ci rivela una sorte positiva al 96%, ottimo - il resto del testo è per noi incomprensibile, ma va più che bene così.
      Proseguiamo a piedi in direzione Ueno Park, dove il bastoncino inizia ad avere i suoi frutti e possiamo chiudere gli ombrelli. Il parco di per se bello, lo è ancora di più con i ciliegi in fiore - uno spettacolo.
      Facciamo tappa allo zoo, come ci eravamo ripromessi da tempo, per vedere tra i vari animali presenti i macachi giapponesi ed il famoso panda, regalato dalla Cina al Giappone in segno di fratellanza. Il panda non delude le nostre aspettative, lo dimostrano le risate, gli ohhh e il numero di foto che gli dedichiamo. 🐼♥️      Läs mer

      L’incrocio più trafficato del mondo!

      Oggi alzarsi è più difficile di ieri.. sarà perché siamo distrutti dalla giornata appena passata, entrambi abbiamo dolori sparsi e bolle sotto i piedi, ma non possiamo stare nel letto.
      Veloci in stazione sul treno JR direzione Shibuya. Usciti dalla stazione ci troviamo immediatamente di fronte all’incrocio più trafficato al mondo… in realtà non troppo a quest’ora del mattino.
      Qui tutti in coda per un saluto ad Hachiko, l’amore di Gio - e vista la coda, non solo di Gio - addobbato con ghirlande hawaiane dei ragazzi davanti a noi.
      Nonostante la colazione abbondante decidiamo di concederci una delle ormai consuete merende in stile Japan.. la scusa di provare cose nuove da queste parti funziona sempre!      Läs mer

      Today we went to the Skytree/Asakusa districts. There were many stores at Skytree. We went mostly for the Kirby Cafe Store since Kyrie is a fan. After seeing a few other favorites, ( AND A SLOTH!!) we headed to Yae Kimono to get dressed up. They not only provided the outfits, they also did our hair. Once we were properly outfitted, we went to Sensoji Temple. Afterwards we headed back to the hotel and Greg headed to Akihabara since he’d been the pack mule photographer for us for most of the day.Läs mer

      Tokyo (3) - eine krasse "Erfahrung"

      Die Teiche um den Rundpavillion Shinobazuhoike sind mit Lotuspflanzen zugedeckt oder mit Schwanentretbooten. Da ist der benachbarte Flohmarkt besser, dort könnte ich als Gag ein Mini-Rad kaufen, aber ich nehme lieber eine wunderschöne flache Teekanne mit.
      Sehr interessant ist auch ein Spaziergang durch die Gassen der Foodmeile Ameyoko, wo auch Läden unterhalb der Eisenbahn untergebracht sind (Nähe Ueno-Bahnhof). Der Lärm wird nur noch von den Spielhöllen übertönt, die wir uns kopfschüttelnd anschauen - dieser Soundmix ist der pure Wahnsinn!
      Von der Ferne sehen wir dann auch schon den Tokyo Skytree-Tower, mit seinen 634m das höchste Gebäude Tokyos.
      Dann denkst du, nun im Tempem wird es bestimmt ruhiger - nicht im Senso-Ji. Ab dem großen Kaminarimon-Tor mit der großen Laterne herrscht in der Nakamise-dori Straße zum Tempel jin High Life. Überall mal wieder Menschen in Kimonos. Man beachte die orangefarbenen zur Mönchskutte passenden New Balance Schuhe. Weitere rissige Laternen hängen am Haupttempel.
      Alles ein Erlebnis, aber wir sind uns einig, dass die ruhigeren Tempel und bereisten Regionen wesentlich angenehmer waren.      Läs mer
