    Diving paradise

    January 9 in Mexico ⋅ ⛅ 27 °C

Cozumel is a real paradise. What a chance to see eagle ray passing right in front of you.
Drift is the most common type of diving. It’s a really pleasure to “fly” over this amazing rift without effort. Did you know that this zone is a protected parc and that the amount of diver is limited each day?

We arrived in Cozumel today and took a trip to see Chichen Itza, the Mayan ruins that are one of the seven wonders of the world. It was especially interesting to see what it is today because I visited there when I was 15 with my high school
Spanish class. The ruins are roped off and protected now, but it the early 70’s we climbed them!
We also visited a cenote ( the 4th photo) which is a natural swimming hole that is formed by limestone breaking away into a large underground system of caves and rivers. It is a popular place to swim, but it was a little cool for us to partake.

    October 7, 2018 in Mexico ⋅ 🌧 27 °C

allig probiert mini Umgäbig chli z erkunde. Gester Obig händs do es "Oktoberfäst" gfiired 😂.

    Dive, work, relax, repeat.

    February 7, 2017 in Mexico ⋅

I really enjoyed my week on Cozumel. Besides getting some more work done, I got my diver's certificate after 4 dives and a theory test.

Diving was my reason to come here and I fell in love with the sport right away! Cozumel has tens of reefs and spots to dive with rays and sharks, and nice warm water. My favorite dive was through a vertical reef dotted with tunnels to swim through and underwater caves to explore. I saw a 2 meter wide sting ray and hung out with two big sea turtles under water. I'm certainly hooked on scuba diving! Although I think I still prefer free diving because you don't rely on technology and fancy equipment but only on your skills as a diver

I also made some new friends, did a trip to a very remote pearl farm north of the island and cooked some good old German food (Oma Diddas Wurzelgemüse). This was the first time I had cooked a full dish in many months. It wasn't as good as it could be, but I enjoyed it :) Oh, and picture 3 is my diving instructor's car. VW Bug. It's falling apart (in one sharp corner, the door opened by itself), but drives without issues!

    Isla de Cozumel

    October 16, 2018 in Mexico ⋅ 🌧 27 °C

    Swimming in Rio Secreto

    March 13, 2016 in Mexico ⋅

It's dark outside when we get up early in the morning. I feel the high humidity on my skin and everthing's lightly buzzing while walking in some kind of caravan from the ship to our ferry. On the mainland we keep on travelling by bus to yucatan where the sun burns from heaven. I'm getting a bit nervous don't knowing what's waiting for me in this mexican jungle. I'm glad having my man by my side holding my hands and looking forward to our exciting adventure!
We dive in the protective darkness of mother earth where nothing lives apart from a bat and some spiders or cat fishes. It is only a little break in the ground and underneath in the depth there is a fascinating world of stone and water. Suddenly I hear my heartbeat in my chest and every breath seems to be a little storm in this silence. The rippling water's warm and despite the fear it is really cozy covered by this million years old cave ceiling. Afterwoods I feel like new born - everything's brighter and louder.

    March 14, 2017 in Mexico ⋅ ⛅ 25 °C

Read more
