    21-10 Pelorus Bridge

    October 21, 2018 in New Zealand ⋅ ⛅ 19 °C

    Pelorus Eco Adventures

    January 7 in New Zealand ⋅ 🌙 19 °C

The weather this morning was not so good. Quite warm but extremely cloudy.
For this morning I was booking a Kayak-tour on the Pelorus River. I was in time but everyone else was to late so I had to wait a little bit at the lodge and had a talk with the guy that is working there.
After everyone arrived we got our lifejackets and got some instructions and then we were jumping in the bus for a short ride to the river. Here we had to team up in teams with 2 people. Their was a big family, 4 kids, their parents, 2 grandpas and one grandma with me on the tour. I ended up with one of the grandpas, he lives in the UK and is here to visit his daughter and his grandchildren. He was actually a really funny guy and we were a good team in paddling.
After putting on some extra sunscreen we had to carry our boots down to the river. The smallest girl of the four children was going in front of me with her grandma. After half of the way she got some problems to carry the boot but didn’t want to give up, so it took me some time to convince her that I can help her and take over her part as well. So I was carry the end of her boot and the front of my boot for a while until I changed with my teammate and he took both parts for the rest of the trip.

And then we were up on the river. Everyone needed to get settled first but then it was going really good.
The weather here was totally different to Havelock. Really warm and no clouds at all.
It was really nice to float down the river. 😊
It’s so beautiful out there. There were also some smaller rapids, nothing serious but enough to get a little splash here and there 😉
We got stuck a few times, like everyone else as well 🙈 But always sorted it out somehow.
And the end of the tour we were passing a part of the river where they was filming a part of the Hobbit in 2011. It’s a part of the barrel seen that took place here. The guide told us, that they was using 1000l of Walter to flush down the small waterfall so that one was looking bigger then he actually is.
Shortly after that we reached the end of our tour. It’s was nice 3 hours on the water, and eventually I got a little bit sunburnt 🙄

Back at the lodge I ask the guys if I could get changed in their restrooms, because somehow I was really wet.. just don’t really know hoe that happened 🙈😂

After that I had to wait for them to drive the bus away, because the guide parked me in. So I was ending up talking with the other guy that is working their and got some nice tipps from him. 😊

Pictures are coming later, their was a guy taking a lot of pictures with different cameras. He even had a drone with him, so they are waiting to get the pictures from him in the next days and then send the link to me as well.

    Trig K Track

    November 16, 2016 in New Zealand ⋅ ☀️ 19 °C
