    Yellowstone I

    July 11, 2017 in the United States ⋅ ☀️ 20 °C

Day nine: This night we slept in our car because there was a huge thunderstorm. But we slept well and hey the car was cleaned again. In the morning we went into the forest where we watched the work of the rangers to look up the grown species of plants. After an hour we went back to our car driving in the direction of Yellowstone. The landscape changed so quickly. Suddenly there were nothing than died plants and the whole landscape turned dry. It was a very beautiful view. When we arrived at Cody right in front of the national park we visited a gun store. It was very impressive 'cause in Germany we don't have public stores like that. Afterwards we wanted to visit the Old Trail Town. But it seems nothing special to us so we didn't want to pay entry for that.
In the Yellowstone we was looking for a campground. On the road we saw about four bisons 🐂 next to the road and the Yellowstone Lake 🏞 Because all campgrounds are full we found some kind Mexican that allowed us to park behind their vehicle on their camping pit. The next camping night for free (actually the third) 🙈
We met a few people who are moving from Oregon to Texas and combine that with a roadtrip. So they travel with a truck with their belongings in it. Pretty cool!
At the end of the day we watched an interesting presentation about the animals which live in the park.

  • Day 11

    Yellowstone ll

    July 12, 2017 in the United States ⋅ ☀️ 20 °C

Day ten: We such had a relaxed beginning of the day. We slept until around 9, washed the dishes and got ready for the day. Afterwards we drove to a hiking trail of Yellowstone. There we did a hike seeing geysers🌋 and the Fairy Falls. The geyser was very impressive and interesting. After a 4 hrs hike we returned back to our cars. The feets hurted and we all were really tired. We continued to the Grand Prismatic Spring that doesn't even blow anymore. It is such a hot water hole.
After we took photos we was going to the Canyon campground searching for an opportunity to stay. And hey we got the next night for free 🙈 On the way to it there was a family of bisons right in front of us on the road that we needed to stop. 🐂🐂🐂
We were with some French and American people on a campfire. The next day is almost over.

    Grand Teton

    July 13, 2017 in the United States ⋅ ☀️ 23 °C

Day eleven: We drove to the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone h iking down to a powerful m waterfall. You could see how the water was finding their way thru the valley.
After we returned to our car we were leaving the Yellowstone in the direction of Jackson in Grand Teton. There we needed to wash our clothes, buying some eating stuff and checking the wifi (after about 6 days 😱)
Afterwards we were going to a national forest. So we got another camping night for free 🙌 A lot of wild life lived there between all the tents and we had an amazing view at the sunset on the mountain side.

  • Day 13

    Twin Falls

    July 14, 2017 in the United States ⋅ 🌫 28 °C

Day twelve: We left Grand Teton in the direction of our next state - Idaho. This day offered not so much activities but the nature in Twin Falls is wonderful. We saw the Perrine Bridge Overlook wich best outlook we couldn't take a photo of because it's on the bridge. The Shoshone Falls were as powerful as the Niagara Falls. Okay closely. The story behind the Twin Falls is funny. We were looking for it but also found one waterfall - no twins. Somebody told us that the second one was killed to get energy by hydropower. So they actually have to change the name of the city.
On the way we also found a mysterious church called "The church of Jesus Christ of latter-day saints". The church itself looked beautiful but the people and their faith were strange.

  • Day 14

    Salt Lake City

    July 15, 2017 in the United States ⋅ ☀️ 32 °C

Day 13: The roadtrip must go on. Today we got to Salt Lake City. Well usually it is just a short ride. Usually. We were navigated to the centre of Salt Lake City. When we were there we recognized "oops we wanna go to the Salt Lake". Short trip? No way! It takes about 1/2 hrs to get there. It was so stinky and very huge.
Afterwards we were looking for a campground. Not that easy! We drove across the whole city finding nothing usable. At all we stoped at the KOA-Campground which was full - for sure. But we found a kind woman from Reno on a RV parking lot there. She allowed us to park our car on her area. Guess how much we paid. You're right - nothing! 🙈
After resting a lil bit we went out exploring the city. How we recognized quickly that city is full of tons of Mormons 🙄 so we had a look at there quarter. Right they got a huge quarter of the city for their temple and so on. People were everywhere.
Then we went to a book store where Antonia was buying some books especially Wild we saw the film of during the flight.
The last church we visited was the Cathedrale of the Madeleine. The first one was a Buddhist temple.

And okay... it was very very hot. What do you want if it is hot? You're right! Ice cream! So at the end of the day we was looking for ice cream. But it was almost 9 and everything was closed. At all we found a gas station. We bought a huge frozen milk shake there. And... and we got a free large drink. That is how the US is going 🍹
When we returned to the campground we had the most amazing ride when a stuff member picked us up with a golf car to bring us to "our" RV. 🚗🌫

    Lake Tahoe

    July 16, 2017 in the United States ⋅ ☀️ 26 °C

Day 14: We started our long ride across the desert of Nevada. We passed the Great Salt Lake one more time and drove and drove and drove . That was our longest ride of the trip. It took about nine hrs and the sun was burning (up to 105 degrees Fahrenheit / ~41in Celsius).
We stoped at a Indian Monument which was next to the I80. This Monument was built for killed Indians.
After hours we did it and arrived at the Lake Tahoe.
We found a campground where we just had to pay for the car park.
At the end of the day we just relaxed at the beach of the lake.

    Topaz Lake

    July 17, 2017 in the United States ⋅ ☀️ 27 °C

Day 15: Today's morning Antonia started hitchhiking towards San Francisco to surprise her boyfriend picking him up from the airport.
I planned to hike the Eagle Falls Trail. But all I saw were million of cars. There was no more space for mine.
So I changed my plans and decided to take a day off at the Pope Beach. Because I only was able to pay by cash I got my first after 2 weeks! 💵 Almost everything you can pay by card 💳 I enjoyed the sun for a while. Suddenly it was getting fuller and louder. I guess the working day of the Americans was over.
Well I packed my stuff, found a campground on the map and started to get there.
Wow! The landscape changed dramatically and it was so wonderful! 🏞 My campground was at the Topaz Lake. A huge lake between dry land. Such amazing!

And hey: welcome to California! 🏖 That state is gonna be my favourite one! I got there and directly felt the summer, the beach, the holiday. And the landscape is awesome! I'm excited for the next days 😇

  • Day 17

    Yosemite I

    July 18, 2017 in the United States ⋅ ☀️ 28 °C

Day 16: O my gosh! Yosemite is not gonna be my favourite national park so far! 😧
When I woke up I drove to Bodie. This is an old ghost town. Nice to take photos ;-) On my way to Yosemite I found a beautiful and huge lake called Mono Lake.
When I got to Yosimite I picked up two hitchhikers from Cologne and Switzerland that was hiking the PCT. Those two I took to Yosemite Village. They were on the way to San Francisco.
Afterwards I started looking for a car park. 2 hrs later!!! I found a lil space for my car that wasn't official at all.
I hiked to the Yosemite Fall seeing some mooses and returned to my car again. I moved it to an official car park at Half Dome Village and ordered a pizza that the hitchhikers have recommended.
When I returned to my car I was wondering why my car is grey not even black and I saw a strange dust in the air all the time. While I ate my pizza I spoke to a woman and her daughter. They told me that there is a forest fire south western of the Yosimite. Actually you was able to smell the fire in the air.
I was afraid that the western exit gonna be closed so I decided to leave the park and sleep outside (8pm). A lot of people wanted to do that so the traffic went very slowly. I drove down the 140. But after about 1 1/2 hrs I was stoped by the police because the road was closed because of the fire. So I turned back to Half Dome Village where I started parked my car and slept in it - definitely tired (11:30pm)!

    What a day! 😧

  • Day 18

    Yosemite II

    July 19, 2017 in the United States ⋅ ☀️ 27 °C

Day 17: Okay Yosimite you're not that bad!
When I woke up the dust was gone and the sky blue again.
After taking a shower I decided to hike the Mist Trail. Probably the most difficult and longest hike could choose how I noticed later. I hiked along two powerful waterfalls up to Half Dome. I reached the top after 5 hrs and all 4 litres of water I brought were gone. The outlook was such amazing!
So I needed to go down again. Without water! My legs were very shaky and I was absolutely dehydrated. Almost 4 hrs later I got down and was absolutely done.
Later I found Antonia and Leo we went to the backpacker campground eating some pancakes and went to sleep.

  • Day 19

    San Francisco I

    July 20, 2017 in the United States ⋅ ☀️ 18 °C

Day 18: After Yosemite we got 3 days off before our hostel in San Francisco is booked.
I read that Hillsong SF had a worship night this night. So I decided to get to San Fran to join the party.
Before I started I got the chance to reach El Capitan. On the way to I had a break at Stockton.
San Fran is not that city for cars. I got veeeery slowly thru the city and just found a car park because after 6pm you are allowed to park longer than 30 minutes.
The worship night itself was pretty cool. Afterwards I had to find a stay for the night for me and the car. The whole city was full of homeless people so I didn't want to leave my car on the road there.
I drove out of downtown and found a car park where I gonna try to sleep.

The only thing that is dampen the mood is the news that Chester Bennington commited suicide right when I started my ride to San Fran just a few miles away. An idol is gone. Rest in peace legend! ♥
